Who is playing the Zack of Kevin Smith's ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO? I think I know!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I think this maybe a bit of scoopage. I haven't seen it reported anywhere else, but I have gotten it on good authority that Kevin Smith has found his titular Zack for his upcoming ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO. Rosario Dawson just dropped out, but Smith has been tight-lipped on who is playing the male lead. He's only said it's someone he admires, but hasn't worked with yet. That someone, according to a source known as "Big J", is noneother than Michael Bluth himself: Jason Bateman. I think that's a great marriage of material and actor, personally. Now we'll just have to see who is the new Miri... Take the scoop with a tiny pinch of salt. The scooper is definitely in a position to know this information, but is untested.

I thought it was going to be Zack Braff for some reason. I know they met about doing other projects before - wouldn't surprise me to see them deciding to work together. Plus his name is Zack. I'm more interested in who plays Miri. I hope he gets a chick whose boobs I ain't seen in the movies yet. Rosario is hot but I can see her na-nas pleanty of other places.

With all the work he has done lately, Bateman is heating up all over again. I like his characters that he plays, he brings a little "Teen Wolf Too" to every role. Now if we could just find something for Justine to do.

is finally getting some credit after the show. Cera is doing Superbad. Bateman is steadily workin. And Will Arnet seems to be chillin with the Will Ferrell crew. Good Stuff. I think i'm done with Kevin Smith though. If Bateman wasn't attached to this I wouldn't give two shits about it.

Sorry if that's a stupid question. Can't get enough of Smith's work. I'd be happy if revisits the Askewniverse from time to time for however many decades he is fortunate to continue making films. He's fighting the good fight and is one of my favorite and most respected filmmakers. Really dig his stuff and looking forward to this. I would give my left nut to hang out and smoke and drink beers with Mr. Smith. Keep 'em coming, Kevin!

Yes, I think Wiig is dying to show off her cans in a Kevin Smith comedy. Lord knows it did wonders for both Priscilla Barnes and Joey Lauren Adams' careers. Wiig would be a cool choice though. I would also vote for Amy Adams and Isla Fisher....either one really I have trouble telling them apart. Also Jenna Fischer has a nice rack that I wouldn't mind seeing.

he's a bad director. Check out the Pilot for Reaper. Even when he's not directing his own material, the man can get a great line delivery out of almost anyone. A major part of being a good director, is making your actors good, and Kevin Smith's directing can take a cheesy line and make it funny as hell, even if he isn't moving the camera very much. BTW, I'm not a Smith fanboy (Edgar Wright maybe), I thought Dogma was underwhelming and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back was complete directorial masturbation. I still respect him as a director, though.</p><p>Anyway, I look forward to seeing Bateman deliver Smith dialogue.

Rosario only opted out because shes in another movie shooting at that time. If Smith where to move back production, whats to say she wouldnt sign on then? Obviously Smith isnt even close to being ready for Oct when the original planned shoot dates where.

Kevin Smith IS the original talk-backer. He's a fucking geek who took a huge chance that could have fucking ruined him and made a great film. Then he got to go to L.A. and fuck Joey Lauren Adams when she was the hottest piece of ass around, made some pretty decent movies and the best Bennifer I move ever. And all y'all can do is hate. Dogma may have had cheesy effects, but that movie was great. Jay and Silent Bob made all you fuckers laugh, and you know it. It makes me laugh every time I watch it. Chasing Amy is just a great movie, and one of the most truthful movies I've ever seen. The truth in that movie hurts so much it makes it hard to watch sometimes. Mallrats was okay, and Clerks and Clerks II were exhibitions on how clever dialogue can carry movies. How many of YOU frustrated wannabe directors would trade your miserable lives living in your parent's basements to live in his shoes, someone you call a worthless hack? I would say ever last motherfucking one of you would. It's absolutely amazing the kind of shit you people give to one of your own who made it. excellent list, sir. All good choices. I'll have to vote for Amy Adams. She has a natural sweetness to her. Though I doubt she'll do any nudity. Though she might 'cause after all the Disneyfied roles she's takes as of late, she could use a little adult cred. Especially as she's frittering away her Junebug good will. Jenna Fischer has The Office so I doubt she'll do it (schedule). I gotta guess she's on the Weinsteins list though. Isla Fisher is probably the best bet, but of those three she is my number three. She was funny in Wedding Crashers (haven't seen Hot Rod), but I don't know if she can turn a phrase.

Kevin Smith is still going to make his horror project, titled Red State, but Zack and Miri was so well received by everyone around him that he decided to make that first. Plus he hadn't or hasn't quite finished the script for Red State yet. To those who asked, no Zack and Miri is not set in the Askewniverse and neither is Red State.Finally to all those bad mouthing Kevin and his movies, how about actually seeing Zack and Miri before you start lighting your torches and grabbing your pitch forks?! I like the direction he's going in. He's my favourite comic book writer of all time. He's gone away from the Jersey Universe. He's just been In Die Hard 4. He's directed pilots for Reaper and Heroes: Origins. I think he's trying to get more director experience so he can finally make that comic book movie. Whatever it is. Let's praise this. Even though I liked Clerks 2. I am glad he's stepping away from it.

and have only walked out of 2 becausse I couldn't take it anymore. One was Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes and the otherwas Clerks. I guess I just didnt get it. I never attmepted to watch another complete Kevin Smith movie,but I saw enough of Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob to know I prob. would've walked away from those too had I been in a theater.

I think Smith's comfort zone is mostly based on whether Mosier is interested in a project. Green Hornet? Yeah, Smith was interested, but leaving the project had less to do with it being action and therefore out of his comfort zone than it was that Mosier had no interest in doing it. Mosier didn't want to do Hornet? Smith was done with it, too. Red State? If I were a betting man, I think as Mosier's commitment to doing a horror-flick wanes, Smith's will as well. I think Mosier welds a lot of power in that relationship. Smith ought to cut the umblical cord when it comes to projects like Green Hornet and such ... because although a comfort zone isn't a bad thing, it is when you turn down good opportunties. Also, (in regard to the podcast) if Smith wants to convince Mosier to get off of regular wipes and get onto wet ones, he ought to do this test: Have Mosier do his business and clean to his satisfaction with regular and when he thinks he clean and all done, take a swipe with the wet ones. He will give up using regular from that point foward. Also, it uses less paper.
