Herc Finds Tasty Showtime's Third Season Of WEEDS!!

“Weeds,” the best sitcom on pay-cable, is back in fine form tonight.
A 3.1 mini-FAQ:
All the promos depict Matthew Modine as the man shaking up Agrestic, Calif., this season. Does the third season pick up long after Nancy Botwin’s showdown with the thugs who want her cannibus?
No. The season opening actually starts a few minutes or so prior the end of season two, with characters we’ve not met before. And Nancy’s predicament remains far from resolved this week.
Matthew Modine doesn’t rescue her?
Modine does not rescue her and in fact doesn’t turn up until episode four.
What about the Olsen twin?
My filmmaker pal Eli Roth will be sad to learn no Olsen twin is employed in the first four episodes Showtime sent along for review. Mary Kate will turn up later in the season’s 10-episode run as a Jesus-happy teen pothead.
Last we saw Strange Shane Botwin, he had ditched his age-appropriate girlfriend to hitch a ride out of Agrestic with crazy sexy Zooey Deschanel. Is Zooey back?
Zooey, still hilarious, has a 140-second cameo but she’s gone after tonight’s installment.
Wait a minute. Herc’s seen the first four episodes? We demand mammoth invisotexted spoilage!
As the first four episodes have already been all over the bittorrests for weeks (beware spoilers in talkback, kids), I can little fathom the harm.
* Celia Hodes, perhaps the only citizen of Agrestic still unaware of what Nancy does for a living, remains in the dark not much longer.
* In 3.2, we learn something most unexpected about Sanjay, the lad who’s been in love with Nancy for the prior two seasons.
* Doug Wilson gets back his government job.
* Andy Botwin will discover the Army wants him despite his low toe count.
* Nancy will come to work for Modine’s character.
* Shoshannah Stern remains in Jericho.
* Celia’s older teen daughter will continue to remain as invisible and unreferenced as Richie Cunningham’s big bro.
Any Mary Louise Parker nudity in those first four episodes?
Sadly, no, though at the end of 3.2 she does cavort outdoors in bra and panties. So be sure to tune in next week.

I'm down with weeds and I'm on record as saying it's one of my favourite shows ever. But where is the love for Flight of the Conchords on this site. Seriously, geek-love should be overflowing for such a show. The song video parodies are such a rare thing. Very smart and ridiculously funny. Haven't laughed at a show as much as this since Seinfeld. Check out the HBO site, I think there is clips of the music videos from almost every aired episode. Then watch Weeds. It's ace.

that part of being a sitcom was having a terrible laughtrack so you can know when they think the jokes are... i would call it more a dramatic comedy, but maybe that's just me..

i live in england, and Weeds is shown on skyone. Being a student and mainly knowing students - we dont bother paying for SkyTV (we just download the shit we want). Also being students, i know many a person to like a joint with a TV show. Iv never shown Weeds to someone who didnt like - no, love it. These first 4 eps are amazing. Its interesting to see how Nancy is coping and how the spiral gets worse. Also, Andy is up there as one of my favourite characters from anything - along with Hiro, Sawyer, Stewie Griffin and Ashley J. Campbell (i know the last ones not TV but damn i love him anyway.)

Funniest show on TV right now. I love Weeds. But for right now, Flight of the Conchords has me laughing harder than any other show on the scene.

but I'm too cheap to pay for Showtime just for that. I'll catch it on DVD. Although I'm very curious as to how they'll get out of that cliffhanger situation. And I can't believe Zoey isn't going to be in it more than that. Her character was great.

Season 1 was 10,
Season 2 was 12,
I thought WEEDS was picked up for 15 season 3 episodes? I think Ms. Olsen was contracted for 10 of the 15, which would make sense that she doesn't show up until at least episode 5.
PS, the premiere has a "previously" that will remind you how season 2 ended. -

I love this show soo much!! Really good, funny and touching. The only thing I "hate" is that it always seems like it ends too soon. Always leaves me wanting more...which is a good thing, I'm just happy we get 15 eps this year.P.S. I want more Zooey!!! Her character was insane in very hot way.The advice Andy gave to Shane RE: jerking off was hilarious!

...but, alas, flight of the conchords is NOT. i really tried getting into FotC, but besides the videos which are really a riot, the show itself is a one-trick pony. after seeing 3-4 eps, i can't bear to watch it any longer, because it was the same story on and on. whereas in weeds... every episode is so unpredictable, and the characters actually grow. these 4 eps of S3 are such a great comeback. and check out the black dude sent to "accompany" nancy... he's quickly turning out to be my favourite new character. i'd be diggin' a spinoff show all about him.

Having Zooey and Mary-Louise Parker on the same show is ridiculous...I completely lose all focus.

You should hear Zooey sing. She stars in a short Julia Stiles directed and does a great 1920s bluesy take on Hello Dolly. She needs to be in a blues infected musical. I think you hear her sing a little in Elf. Her sister, Emily Deschanel, is terrific too. Emily was in a short called That Night--it's one of the most magically romantic pieces of cinema I've seen in while. Why it's Imdb rating is so low is beyond me and the one user comment review was either smoking crack or saw something completely different.

I only wish this show came with a virtual realty helmet so I could medicated along with Silas and Doug. (Although I hope the next moment of "Brief Nudity" involves someone else)

The season premier SUCKED! They took a "holy shit" season finale and turned it into a retarded joke of a season opener. The entire episode was ludicrous and unfunny from beginning to end. This show used to have edge and sharp humor, now it's a weak sitcom. And I'm saying that as a fan. When it was over my wife and I just looked at each other and said "What the hell was that? That was just DUMB." Sorry to see a cool show jump the shark like that. Oh well. Dexter's back soon.

this U-turn character is really grating on my nerves and it seems like he may be around for awhile which I don't want.
Can't wait to see the rest of the season.
