Information on THAT SPOOKY PLACE

Published at:  Apr 03, 1999 2:35:28 AM CST

Well... here's a Haunted House/Supernatural flick that Moriarty didn't cover for us, so... I guess we're all getting our first spoonful of it together here. Sounds interesting. I've always been a fan of the psychological thriller flicks... but I have to say... with all these Supernatural horror 'ghosts in houses' flicks... It sure would be nice if a different type of Supernatural Film was moving along....

According to rumor, Robert A. Masciantonio's next project has been green
lighted by his production company, Shifty'z WorldWide Entertainment, inc.
Masciantonio's first feature, "Cold Hearts" has been picking up a lot of
steam with it's distributor, Raven Pictures.

This time, Masciantonio will be executive producing, writing, and directing a
haunted house story titled, "That Spooky Place". (I'm sure he'll put his mug
in it like he did with COLD HEARTS). But, unlike the haunted stories on the
horizon, this is a psychological thriller. I've heard it's more along the
lines of Kubrick's "Shining" as opposed to an "Amity Horror" in it's subject
line. The story, as I hear it, is about two college age kids that move into
a house that has been empty for almost fifteen years. Not because of ghosts
or what have you, but just because the original owner (one of the Principal
character's fathers) didn't want to sell it. From there, things get a little
weird. I heard Robert say, I think it was on his website actually, that it's
more about the psychological ramifications of living in a haunted house
rather than ghosts throwing chairs and the walls bleeding. Sounds
interesting.

Right now, Matthew Lilliard has shown interest as the lead. Jodi Lynn
O'Keefe is also rumored to be reading the script right not. And, as I
mentioned earlier, Robert may play one of the other principle roles.
There is rumor that Dimension is involved. But one of the bigger scoops is
that Tom Savini himself is one of the Executive Producers. Mark Meyers is
the film main producer.

More as I find out.

Has anyone heard anything else about THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, which is supposed to star Marilyn Manson and his soon-to-be wife Rose McGowan?

    back into the haunted house

    by spike lee

Hollywood and the suits seem to be going back into the haunted house. It's about time! A supernatural horror film gives way to endless imagination and effects, and of course a chance for a great scary story. Remember suits, it all starts with the story, they all need to be reminded of that. The haunted house film always makes me want to step on the soapbox and praise Poltergeist, a great film. Poltergeist is a film that you just have to watch over and over again to get different aspects of the story, and appriciate everything around it. If you have not seen this film, see it! If you have, please see it again!

    Dimension involved?

I doubt it. While they have no standards for writing, they do at least have to meet quality control standards sound and picture in order to get foreign sales. Did you see Cold Hearts? Even third world countries aren't likely to take it.
