RESERVATION ROAD, the revenge drama starring Connelly, Phoenix and Ruffalo, gets a trailer!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now, this isn't to be confused with the similarly titled REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, the Sam Mendes flick starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. This is the new film from Terry George (HOTEL RWANDA) starring Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Connelly and Joaquin Phoenix.
I'm a big fan of every one of those people I listed as being a part of this film and the trailer looks really good... like it's from a different era of filmmaking. This feels like it could be a '70s flick, which is one of the things I liked so much about THE DEPARTED. That felt like it could have come from that era as well. These seriously intense character dramas... love it. Hope this one lives up the trailer...
It's kind of presented in a lame format over at Amazon... streaming, but clear and not choppy.

love pnoenix and ruffalo
-
and I meant to say Phoenix.
-
it looks like it has the right combination of actors and director. Should be on worth watching.
-
Doesn't look bad.
-
Mark Ruffalo, along with Bill Pulman and Josh Harnett, suck the life out of any film they show up in. Damn them all. Now Jennifer Connelly, I would sleep with her if I had too, and she would like it.
-
I couldn't finish watching it. Maybe it's just my browser or something, but it was blurry as fuck. I actually couldn't tell who the people were in some scenes.
-
in the trailer just did not work thematically. What a terrible preview.
-
Maybe - if almost every action didn't hinge on a cell phone call.
-
Example please? Of a movie Ruffalo sucked the life out of?
-
didn't see anything besides pixels and compression

Was dead wait on the screen when he was on.
He almost killed Zodiac with his blandness.
How about "13 going on 30, could he be more dull? God, in Copycat, he actually made a movie about a pyscho killer boring. Oh wait, that was Dermot Mulroney. How do you tell them apart? Please tell -
Kinda slack-jawed and lifeless.
-
I just thought...what about doing a film with only blurry talking heads. I guess that I'd really like the trailer if I actually recognized any shapes though. The only obstacle I have: Mark Rufallo is a very foreign-unfriendly actor. I need about 45 minutes to actually adapt to his talking style and understand anything of what he's saying. So I probably have to go see this film in its dubbed version, which sucks.
-
What's up with the Ruffalo hating? He's been good in everything I've seen him in.
-
sure..it's Ruffalo...sorry...that trailer didn't only mess with my eye-sight, it seems.
-
I bought this book based off of a Entertainment Weekly article of all places years ago and loved it. Kinda ends predictably but the emotion and actions of the two father was genuine. Perfect casting for the arc involved in the story. Look forward to it, but it will be a downer.
-
Here's what they say about it. RESERVATION ROAD Terry George, USA. A compelling tale about the lure of revenge and the power of redemption, the drama revolves around two fathers whose families and lives tragically converge with the death of a child. In the aftermath, Ethan (two-time Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix) and Dwight (Mark Ruffalo) each react in unexpected ways as their families struggle to cope and an emotional reckoning looms. Directed by Terry George (HOTEL RWANDA), the film also stars Academy Award winners Jennifer Connelly and Mira Sorvino. Kinda weird to hear "Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino". Are we sure that's not a misprint?

You've got to be kidding, right? You're going to use 13 Going On 30 as an example of a movie that Mark Ruffalo sucked the life out of? That movie had no life from the moment the premise was scratched on the back of a bar napkin. It was a POS that he obviously did for the paycheck. Check out You Can Count On Me for the quintessential Ruffalo role, and I'm not sure about your credibility after saying his work in Zodiac was bland.

You really needn't look any further than Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Plastic tarp, anyone?
-
from "Give away the whole damn movie in the preview" pictures...a "Crappy Trailer" production...of a "Shitty Music" Film...Reservation RoadIf you could see what the hell was going on...we would have just spoiled the movie for you...October 2008

never understood it. Let me bash the living snot out of another human being with a ton and a half of metal then try to run and hide as if they'll never catch me. Stupid. Other than that, looks good. I'm down with anything that has these actors in it.
-
Which always makes these things seem more interesting and exciting, doesn't it?
Oh, and Ruffalo was pretty good in Apartment 12, if anyone cares to see it. -
I didn't realize all of it as shot in CT! The amusement park was Lake Compounce, a great place and all. Wow, this is really cool recognizing everywhere in the trailer!
Sorry if I sound like a little kid here, but hey film shoots in CT are like just busting out so give a guy a break. -
escapes me and I think the article was very pithy. The journalist, who had read the book, which he adored, said that while he was all for a leo and kate renunion, he thought that casting kate winslet in this role was wrong.

A few years back, a pickup truck sideswiped me when I was riding my bike and sent me headfirst into the curb. The impact split the helmet clean in half and still gave me a concussion. If I wasn't wearing a helmet, I'd have been dead. No question about it. The fucked-up part is, the driver didn't so much as slow down. To this day, I keep my eye out for that piece of shit pickup truck. And if I ever see it, there's gonna be hell to pay, Marcellus Wallace style.
-
cool story, hansel.
-
It seems very underrated. I loved that film.
-
How can you hate on that film? Suppose you didn't like Swim Fan as well? Haters, god I hate them.
-
She's as wooden and overrated as Winona Ryder and Natalie Portman.
-
Thanks, Olaf.
-
She's fucking ten time hotter than the shoplifter or the iron board, aka Winona Ryder and Natalie Portman.
-
That trailer seemed squarely aimed at soccer mom's. I guess they need a revenge movie to call their own too.
-
They all give me wood, I give you that. :D
-
She was kinda annoying in Labyrinth, right? And that A Beautiful Mind shit was inexcusable.
-
Sure... I mean, if they all starred in some lesbian threesome movie, I wouldn't complain.... (God, *please* let that happen.)
-
you guys are haters. i read the book and enjoyed it and by the looks of this trailer i will enjoy the film as well. Also- the trailer on amazon looked fine to me., not sure what some if you guys are talking about.
-
Not to mention the hot spot. I'm glad to see Joaquin Phoenix back in the saddle, I figured he still might be sore for not winning the Oscar.
-
Just checked out the trailer. Weird that everyone's saying they cant see it, I saw it just fine. Looks like a great story and a tearjerker (for the ladies, that is). Big Pheonix fan, great to see him digging into a good role like this.
-
A mini-movie missing the final reel.
-
thanks trailer, for givin away the whole friggin movie. it's even crappier, coz that looked like a good film.
-
they just re-posted the trailer on amazon using Windows Media Links- you can see it much better as now you can see Jennifer's smokin' ass!
-
where Jennifer Connelly spends all her screentime sad eyed and wounded looking. Yawn. There is more to acting than crying on cue, lady. This looks like a glorified TV movie.
-
In the end, everyone winds up even more sad and miserable than in the beginning of this Suffer-fest. And Joaquin's puppies get crushed by a crashing plane full of children.
-
as saying that Reservation Road will be among the Academy's Best Picture nominees when the dust settles. Granted, I haven't seen the film or any of the other films rumored to be in contention, but there's something very human about this story that I think will resonate with parents across the country. I think the cast is fantastic and judging from the trailer, I think this is going to be one of the very best films of the year. Phoenix looks fantastic, like he really committed to the role, and Ruffalo's sad, puppy-dog eyes expertly convery the guilt that his character is forced to live with. Sign me up for the Reservation Road bandwagon.
-
i know that's played out, but somebody had to say it. how can you guys hate on ruffalo when he sported that stash in 'safe men'? jesus crust! he is great. just because he doesn't spaz out or chew scenery doesn't mean he's not good, he even translates well to the stage and not a lot of actors can do that. in fact i think it kinda blows that it didn't say 'academy award winners phoenix and ruffalo.' jennifer connelly is pretty and has big jugs but her acting is like watching paste dry.
-
and the trailer takes on a much more interesting tone. Something more dark, multi-faceted and sinister. That song slapped on it white washes the whole thing into a bland paste. I hope they stay away from stuff like that on the actual soundtrack of the movie. Cause it looks like the movie MAY be pretty solid. But that song makes it hard to tell.
-
do not let j.c. into your hearts
-
I'm interested to see how he'll do in this. I always took him for the sort of wimpy type, maybe that will make his guilt more believable. Yeah...I'm going to see this.
-
Agree with Quint, I love these kind of intense character dramas! House of Sand Of Fog was brilliant.Almost as good as Mrs Doubtfire...
-
Like typical Hollywood trailers anymore, it gives way too much away. I mean this looks like the kind of movie that's about the slow burn, of being taken to a place emotionally you never thought you could be, and what to do when you get there, but shit, now I've seen the Cliffs Notes version of the movie, all that's missing is the very ending.
-
err-- didn't realize a few other people already jumped on this exact point.
-
Duh, soccer moms already HAVE their revengs film. Didn't ya ever see Sally Field kickin arse in "Eye For An Eye"? Before Kiefer became The Bauer :p
-
I already saw 3/4 of it in the trailer. Someone let me know what happens in the end. Ah hell I'll see it anyways ><
-
Huh, never crossed my mind as I thought she did great in the 3 or so flicks I've seen her in. Yeah a cutie, but I like her acting style too.
