From Comic-Con comes the SOUTHLAND TALES poster and a cool freebie for Neil Marshall's DOOMSDAY!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I'm working on putting the final touches on some good, exclusive 1:1 interviews which will go up tonight. But I wanted to put out this stuff... the first one is for people at the Con... If you want a neat little art book (limited edition) for Neil Marshall (THE DESCENT, DOG SOLDIERS)'s new movie, a culty flick called DOOMSDAY, drop by the Rogue Pictures booth on the floor and utter the phrase, "The End Is Nigh," and you'll get it. I'm told these are really nice. I haven't seen 'em yet, but hopefully you guys won't take 'em all up before I can get there.
The second piece is for all of you. Richard Kelly's SOUTHLAND TALES comes out November 9th... finally. And here's the poster Kelly unveiled at the Con today when he did his signing. Click for the bigger version!

Hyped out.
-
Should have been there, dammit!
-
...not at Comic-Con?
-
I remember many were psyched about it, then it had a really bad reception at that festival, and all the excitement was sucked out of the room.
Still interested I guess -
becoming less COMIC and just CON after CON. with the "exclusives", the "Sneak peeks" and the "teasers". its just all hype and no substance> I am actually glad I didn't go
-
and TERRY MOORE IS ON RUNAWAYS!!!!!
lol -
This is what I'll be lining up for that weekend... presuming the relase date holds and they actually launch it wide, two things I HIGHLY doubt.
-
The first one had lots of promise. The second one just degenerated into nonsense. Couldn't finish the third one. I just...I want to give this the benefit of the doubt, but I don't know...
-
Considering that exact image is printed inside the prequel graphic novels, which were released many months ago (granted, I could only find them in a remote corner of a bookstore after months of searching). So maybe it is a big reveal after all.
-
I am a huge fan of Donnie Darko, and I was unbelievably excited when that Southland Tales website first launched. But from what I've read of the graphic novels....:/

OMG: Looks like Dwayne Johnson isn't The Rock anymore!
by derlanghaarige
First the Get Smart trailer, then this! Way to go, Dwayne!

Was wondering what happened with this film. It should be pretty cool.

how about "just give me the god damn little art book for christ sakes."
-
in 1991..
-
As long as the movie is good too...
-
PT II?

Does anyone give a fuck what french idoiots think? This is a movie about LA and there is no way those fuckers are going to say anything good about it. I'll give Kelly the benefit of the doubt since I love Donnie Darko and think his script for Domino were great. I'd rather watch a film that takes an original risk than the same shit being done over and over again. I liked Sunshine more than any other film this summer just because it had some original ideas. I'll let you fanboys suck each others dick over the next adapted from and or based on superhero movie that will be made and will be horrible. FINALLY...
-
If you haven't read them by the way, DO IT, they're awesome.
-
but I haven't been too excited with the stuff I'm hearing about this. I'll give it a watch, nonetheless.
-
really interested in seeing it. After Donnie Darko I'm willing to trust Kelly.
-
and if I get better than that, well then cut off my legs and call me Shawtee. And WOW that poster's like the other promo art I've seen, just SHINIER!

Big ideas lite. Ok it looked good, but its big idea (the time travel) was just a joke. If he cant get basic sci-fi staples right, then I have no hope for this. Wsspecially after the original reviews from Cannes. Is this movie able to be salvaged into something watchable?
-
The funny thing is, Liberation, one of our biggest "intellectual" newspapers (yeah, btw, i'm french) had The Rock on its front page, and a 3 pages über-positive paper on the movie...
I don't know where this "french critics panned it" when in fact, in France, most critics found the movie interesting, if a little too heavyhanded, mostly because of the length of the initial cut.
The fact is, it's mostly the american critics in Cannes that wrote negative reviews at the time... -
I think the proper reaction by the Talkbackers here should be "pwned." :)
-
even knowing about the giant pan the french hit this flick with. But this poster...Anyone remember 'Point Horror'? It totally looks like one of the covers from a PH book! I hope the flick is better...
-
Naah, not really! I love the original version of Donnie Darko, not the director's cut, so I hope Southland Tales is good, but we'll see...
-
Because there is yero about it on the internet. Hard to get excited about a film that just has mixed word of mouth and buffy and the rock.
-
I am bested by your steely intellect. I can see by your debating powers that Darko really tested your brain. You do right to defend it from me! Well done President Evil
-
Like some geek who heard the title, names of the stars, and that it was "post-apocalyptic" made their own graphic a year before the release. Complete with a whole variety of Word fonts! Huzzah!
-
I don't know nothing about this (except that it blasted im cannes), and i dig a lot Donnie Darko. But I can say the banner (specially, not only, SPECIALLY the caligraphy logo is awful, it looks as a cgi from the early 90's
-
Oh yeah! This guys is awesome! Bring on anything this guy does. Fuck, get him to make Predator 3!
-
just stop tyalking shit and go to the website? this movie obviously comes from a great director just watch the damn movie and stop talking shit before it even hits...
-
Is an image of the United States, but with each county given colors based on how they voted in the 2004 election. Blue for Dem, Red for Rep. Purple for in between. The image is then distorted in Photoshop. Yep.
