Reports Trickle In From Today's LOST Comic Con Panel!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
From the Comic Con’s Thursday afternoon “Lost” panel with showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, cobbled from various reports:
* Season four will feature both flashbacks and flashforwards. (Note that Herc’s longstanding plea that some episodes eliminate flashbacks was finally answered with the flashback-free third-season finale.)
* We will learn how Ben Linus came to fall into Henry Gale’s trap.
* At least one whole episode will follow Jack and Kate’s adventures away from Dharma Island.
* Harold Perrineau arrives. The plan was always to bring Michael back, is the claim.
* Richard Alpert “may” get limited screen time, as Nestor “Batmanuel” Carbonnel is now a regular on CBS’ Cuban-American nighttime soap “Cane.”
* The story of Hurley’s girl, Libby, will be told in season four. Apparently one wouldn’t be “barking up the wrong tree” to suggest a connection with Dharma Island.
* Rousseau will likely get a flashback in seasons four or five.
* The session ended with a new Dharma orientation film. It’s for the “Orchid Station.” The man who identified himself in previous Dharma media as Mark Wickmund and Marvin Candle now calls himself “Edward Allawitz.” Allawitz apologizes for deceiving people with regard to the nature of the station’s research, which does not concern botany. Allawitz holds up a rabbit marked “15.” A nearby shelf is marked “16.” A small earthquake ensues. End of film.
ABC launches the 16-episode fourth season of "Lost" early next year.

Yeaaaaah... ha ha ha... sigh...
-
The honeymoon is over...
-
Loser.
-
Seriously? No Way.
-
When Cane gets Canned.
-
i think im gonna cry
-
Last bitches. So what prize do I get?
-
I want this shit like yesterday. I really need to verify that my theory about Libby being a Dharma recruiter is correct so that I can do the happy dance of joy.
-
What?
-
That post makes no sense. What trap did Ben fall into that was set by Smiley Face balloon riding (and Black) Henry? Please explain yourself. And Batmanuel will be back since Cane will tank like Latin Grammies.
-
From when he was faking being Henry Gale.
-
I assume somebody meant Rousseau's trap, but who can be certain?
-
Ben gave to the survivors. He lied and said he was in a hot air balloon and it crashed on the island. He said he was Henry Gale from Minnesota that lying bastard!
-
I wonder if there was any reference to the Orchid station on the Blast Door Map that Locke saw. hmm....
cant wait -
I can't see interest growing in this fiasco of a show.
-
really, 3 16 ep seasons? why not 2 of 24 eps?... it'll be too long and in 3 years noone will care
-
Maybe it was supposed to say "Henry Gale fell into Ben Linus' trap".
-
Did the Lost drones get tired of verbally fellating each other?
-
I'm sorry that fans of Lost failed to keep a thread bumped about an episode 4 months after it aired, I guess?
-
I loved Lost, and really liked that last few episodes of the 3rd season....But the way ABC is handling this show is horrific....SUch a great show, but these long intermissions you just lose interest...will probably gain interest again by mid fourth season if they do real good job....otherwise I doubt Ill be a true fan to the end....My response to HOLLYWOOD ARROGANCE....Ill catch it when I can.

Episodes take too long to write, shoot and film to keep up with the quality we expect from LOST. They were turning episodes around from a blank page to wrap in about 8 days. That is insane! No wonder there were so many re-runs during the first and second season. Third season tried something new- people complained and they still got backed up in the end. It is a wonder we have the quality that we do. It says a lot about the talent of those in charge.
So ABC wanted them to have like 12 seasons and LOST producers wanted to end at something like episode 100. That would have given us barely more than 4 seasons. The producers fought to secure an definite end date, and told ABC that that they could expand their story to 5 seasons max. ABC fought it until someone came up with what I think is the perfect compromise. The producers get their 2 years worth of stories and don't have to pad their story any more. They can start unveiling their secrets at a steady pace knowing how long they have. That is the best possible scenario for them- and us. What other show has been given that gift? ABC also gets one more season than LOST producers previously claimed they could fulfil.
Just like the Harry Potter series of books, you don't rush the author if you care anything about the story or the one telling it. They could have forced the book to be put out 8 months earlier and they would have gotten a piece of crap that the author was ashamed to put out. The original vision would have been compromised and the readers who wanted it sooner would have been very disappointed. So it is with LOST.
I am so thankful that we won't be handed as many "filler episodes" and that things will start to feel more intentional. With a complete three-year outline soon to be fleshed out, there is no way we will ever end up feling like they overlooked a plot or squeezed in a half-baked answer because of a lack of time.
I work with media for a living, and I would love to have such a solid schedule that considers the needs of the creators. I am totally pumped for season 4! Even if we do get Michael back.
-
AMEN!
-
I stopped going to it a couple weeks back, primarily because it was getting out of hand. People would report old random shit or they'd think up ridiculous theories that made no sense just to keep the post count up.
-
I was disappointed that nobody asked any questions about Jacob. However, during the orientation film, there was a single-frame splice of some words and I'm convinced that I saw "Jacob" among them. Wishful thinking perhaps?
-
Goodie! No more icky Aint-It-Cool-News, now it's all Comic-Con, all the time! Also, what is with these short seasons now? 16 episodes? What, are they HBO now?
-
still a fan...but just barely hanging on
-
Boy I wish that Tick was picked up!
-
the lostaways?
-
The "immortal" character is leaving for a soap-opera?!?!? C'mon, the potential to this character is huge!
-
Today we discuss Confidence Man!!!
-
Just saying...
-
Oh,well. Six Months to go.
-
LOST quit being "fun" a long time ago. Pity.
-
I've heard all three for the name. Why in the sweet fuck would he be going by a different name anyway???
-
Slamming the long Lost TB is just shitty, especially since you have been a big part of it. I haven't seen any theories in there that could be considered random, especially for Lost where almost anything is possible. We have not "gotten out of hand."
We're incredibly organized. We've written scripts for the Season 4 opener, developed and shared theories and information, played trivia and scaveneger hunt games, and have set up a viewing schedule for anyone who want to participate to watch and then discuss each episode of Lost until the new season begins.
They're a great group of guys that are passionate about the show and want it to be the best it can be. Hell some of us--GASP--have even gotten to know each other a bit. We've shared life moments like the births of children, the places we live, which include everything from LA to Ireland, and sometimes life difficulties.
Anyway this has gotten longer than I intended. I was just disappointed to see you speak so off-handedly about that TB since you have been a big part of it. Yes it's gotten cumbersome due to its size, which has hurt the posts of late, but it's still a great TB. -
When 24 has been doing that exact thing for years and people are fine with it? The simple fact is that "fans" are just big whiners and regardless of what they do people will bitch. Normal season with breaks and repeats? Boo freaking hoo on the repeats. Split season with no repeats and episodes in fall and spring? Boo freaking hoo on the split. Continuous episodes starting in the spring? Boo freaking hoo on the break. Quit your damn whining, you pansies. This show is still huge and you hypocrites KNOW you're still going to watch it regardless of how they schedule it. All that matters is the quality of the show, and the last half of season 3 was stellar, many people were saying that the season finale was one of the best any show has ever done. My only complaint/hope is that they just move it back to 9 eastern from 10.
-
Part of what I loved about this show was not knowing who, if anyone, survives to leave the island. Knowing that Jack and Kate survive takes a LOT of the fun out of the show.
-
Could be there really is a Henrey Gale. I had always assumed that there was a Henry Gale on that balloon, but he could be anyone.
-
Last seasons finale STILL blows my mind... one of the best ever!
-
Season 3 proved Lost is still one of the best shows on TV and you guys still whine and whine. Wait til its cancelled and suddenly all the ahters love it. I call it the Carnivale effect.
-
Are you kidding me? Name one show on television that comes even close to being as riveting and intelligently written. This is the best TV show since Twin Peaks and it's only gotten better. If you weren't blown away by the season finale than I want to remind you that you can still catch Full House reruns on Nick at Nite.
-
about how she got it on non-stop for 7 days straight with a certain AICN talkbacker named Itchy.
-
There was a Henry Gale. He was buried where Ben said his wife was buried. That's how they found out Ben was not Henry Gale.
-
that was one of the greatest scenes I have ever seen in a long time and I loved the way he ratcheted up the tension. In the room being pounded by sayid while on the outside we see tension that was building Locke and Jack finally erupted. that scene where he explains how he would lure them into a trap is magnigicent and they way he snaps back into hostage mode by saying you guys got any milk made my jaw hit the floor. I just hope they dont kill off Emerson. Emerson is the best thing in the show. Without a doubt. if he gets killed off I wont watch this show, well actually I still will. Dominic is right to be pissed off, beautiful though his demise was.
-
was how they got to the island. 4,5, 6 will be how they got off and the aftermath.
-
I believe what you're referencing was the first three episodes of Season Two, or what I like to call, "When the show started to fucking suck". Showing us the same fucking events from three different points of view, just to drag the fucking story out as long as possible while avoiding answering any fucking questions.
-
You sound like a raving lunatic.
-
Better than Flash Walt. Locke, you perve.
-
Hearing Michael is coming back further proves my theory that he was the dead one in the coffin!
And Libby's coming back... joy to the heavens!!! -
Sayid found the driver's ID, remember? It was a black guy from Minnesota. Search Henry Gale in Google Images and you should eventually see the license.
-
Season 3 redeemed the show for me, and the finale was just about as bad ass as the show has ever been. Jack kicking the shit out of Ben felt GOOD, Sawyer plugging Mr. Friendly felt GOOD, and watching others fly through the air on fire felt REALLY GOOD. I missed Locke though, and hope in season 4 he has a lot more to do.
-
dating a virgin...you might get a little something, but you're not going to get what you really want...
-
I really hate to say this. While the season finale was unexpected, it was simply a gimmick. It did not change the story. What really changed was that, for that episode, Jack was off the island. We are either going to spend two years showing how he did it, or, more likely, what we saw will not come to pass. It is either one or the other. An unexpected production gimmick doesn't lift the show to greatness. Don't get me wrong, it was a strong season, but not that great.
-
I've been watching since the first episode and had almost given up on the show. Not because of the breaks(at first), but because in Season 2 I really thought the story started to drag, there was a bit too much filler where you'd go a whole episode of ho-hum life on the island...then a quick cliffhanger in the final few minutes. I stuck around for season 3, and it got better, but not by much until the finale approached, and aired. I rememebr specifically watching the Season 3 Premier, and every time they went back and forth from Ben to Juliet with those trademark 'Dun-Dun-DUUUUUN' music cues...I was about ready to pack it in. No-one can doubt that this show, at various points, got waaaaay to Soap Opera cheesy.
In a nutshell, Season 1 was great. Season 2 was way too stretched, and got everyone thinking the writers may not know where they're going with this whole idea. Season 3 started off similar to season 2, but around halfway through, seemed to hit it's stride.
The finale was awesome. Who directed that epsiode? I was locked to my seat that night, no pun intended. I look forward to season 4, but do feel the break in between is a little long. So, I agree with everyone, this show is not as lame as some people make it out to be. But, the waiting won't be filled with nervous anticipation.
-
The size of the TB isn't the problem. There was a theory that Jack was the smoke monster which is patently wrong and anybody who had seen more than one episode of the show would know that. And a couple weeks back paburrows was posting the raw text of lostpedia articles. Just to get us back in the top ten. That was when I gave up. I'd still be there if the people weren't so obsessed with staying on the top ten list.
-
I think the top ten list stuff has subsided a bit now that it was off for awhile. It's the randoms that come in that seem the most concerned about it being in the top ten for some reason. the regulars don't stress it anymore. At least I don't. I just want the TB to keep existing as a safe haven for Lost fans on here and many feel the TB will faze out if it's not as visible on the site.
-
Has this been asked and answered already?
-
I think. I guess I can deal with three 16 ep seasons. It'll feel like it felt to wait for new Soprano's eps. Waaaaay too long. So they better deliver.
-
obviously anyone who is still a fan of lost (one of the best shows on tv) would love to have a new episode EVERY week. obviously due to the story line and production neither help make that possible. so the creators listened to the fans voices, and yet STILL some of you are whining. listen, if you got a problem with ABC and how they handle it, DVR the whoel season, then watch...or wait for the dvds. spoiled. i love our mtv generation who needs everything NOW. patience man. patience.
-
and then it all went to hell.
-
Alberto Gonzales, I mean. Zing!
-
kidnapped henry Gale. Ben stole his identity and they are keeping hidden somewhere on the island. this is a show which is big into slight of hand. Because Henry Gale is really Jacob. ben is scared of him. Henry is from the old the dharma. Ben is new dharma. Old Dharma and new Dharma dont like each other.
-
but the writers and performers of any tv or film know that is not possible. the rules for tv are a lot tighter then in the the film world. that is whay there is no tv versions of James cameron or Bay. not yet anyway. lost broke all those rules as did 24, this is the new age of tv. where you have to get stuck in on a tv show, pain and gain.
-
google is becoming so powerful that there is worry that they will become a defacto arm of the government. It is building up profiles on everyone. We dont know the shape of governments to come or how corrupt they maybe become, but the fact that google is now in every country in the world is a little unnerving. I am not a bleedin heart liberal that some might think. I was born when the ira were in deadly and my old man was nearly caught up in the Dublin monaghan bombings. I loathe terrorism as much as the nest person but i know that internment doesnt work.

There's a good set of still images from the video at this site too that confirms there's a message in regards to "Jacob". -
What the fuck does that have to do with anything? Are you always posting your paranoid theories on here, or do you ever have anything that is relevant to the discussion??
-
wait for its return. I wonder whos in the box. I think that Henry gale is a very important character. Is middle mame could be jacob. Either way I think Ben is scared of him. Maybe Henry gale is really the one who is running the whole island. Bar being from minnisota and and ballooning when he arrived on the island and that his wife died after giving birth (maybe?). We dont know anything about him.
-
The padding will go away. And it's only there because Stephen King predicted it.
Hit show = “Hey, let’s keep the money train rolling.” But now they’ve got an End Game. Have faith, brother.
-
The rabbits both had 15's on them. Either the rabbit itself caused the earthquake, or whatever caused the earthquake duplicated the rabbit. I tend to agree with the latter because i don't think the rabbit was there before.
