ANGEL Creator Greenwalt No Longer Showrunner On CBS Vampire P.I. Show MOONLIGHT!!

Published at:  Jul 26, 2007 9:43:09 PM CDT

I am – Hercules!!

“Angel” creator David Greenwalt has apparently just left his job as showrunner of CBS’ vampire private-investigator drama “Moonlight,” citing health concerns.

Hrm.

Rob Thomas was showrunner of Joel Silver’s private-investigator drama “Veronica Mars” for three seasons. And Thomas just quit his job as showrunner of the ABC sitcom “Miss/Guided” this week, citing creative differences.

Would “Moonlight” producer Silver recruit Thomas to take over “Moonlight”?

If anybody out there is going to Comic Con’s Friday afternoon “Moonlight” panel, kindly ask.

Greenwalt was probably sick of the Angel comparisons

    by keg boy

Why else would he quit the day before the Con presentation.Speaking of which, where's the Lost scoop? The session ended over an hour ago.

Jason Dohring, Joel Silver & Rob Thomas Reunited???????

    by darth fabulous

Certainly would dull the pain of Greenwalt leaving this potentially watchable show...

    LOST PANEL UPDATE: New info!

    by eggbeater

Harold P showed up and confirmed he'd be back next season (but we already knew that). They showed a new DHARMA video w/ marvin candle talking a bout another hatch: The Orchid. Here is a description-DHARMA REVEAL: PIECE OF FILM "DISCOVERED IN NORWAY" IS SHOWN...IT IS
WICKMAN WITH RABBIT MARKED "15"...a new orientation film for "station
six orchid." He apologizes for instructing the viewer to deceive
their family as to the nature of the research - it is not botanical.
He is holding a rabbit marked 15, and another is on a shelf marked
16...wickman calls himself edward allawitz....then things start
falling, camera pans on rabbit, implying that the rabbits are the
cause of building shakes and light breaking. End.

I think they have done the Vampire thing to death

    by tvguy4566

When Lifetime has their own Vampire series, you know it is time to give the genre a rest. This show has disaster written all over it even if Rob Thomas comes aboard. What will he fire all the new cast except for Jason Dohring? There seemed to be somany pilots with potential not picked up, maybe CBS should rethink this one.

    Dohring is the only reason...

    by prof. pop-cult

...Jason Dohring is the only reason why I'm going to check this out. The whole vampire thing is played out, however. And isn't it kind of appropriate that he's playing a vampire in a show that is already reminding us of Angel? I say appropriate, because Logan on Veronica Mars was sort of the analog to Spike (i.e. Veronica = Buffy, Mac = Willow, Logan = Spike).

Oh, please -- I want to watch Moonlight!

    by annoyyou

If Thomas gets his grubby mitts on it, all bets are off. Jesus. Why would they fire Greenwalt, who was the best showrunner the Buffyverse ever had? Thomas will just run it into the ground, the way he did VM. I hope this doesn't happen, because Thomas is the kiss of death.

Twould appear that Joel Silver is an enemy of Mutant Enemy. I say we boycott all of his future endeavors. CRY HAVOK AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR!

Good question, Herc! I'm covering Joel Silver's panel tomorrow for CBR, so I'll see if I can ask him. (Some of the Q&A sessions have been rather stunted...)

    greenwalt wasn't fired

    by mollyunravel

according to ahollywood reoprter he left for "personal, health reasons" and michael ausiello cites "exhaustion". and rob thomas is in talks with abc so i doubt he'd head over or moonlight, though i suppose it's not totally out of the question.

    by wowsah156

Moonlight has no chance . Whoever thought that a show about a vampire detective will exist after Angel getting cancelled is deluded. Lack of imagination.

Exhaustion? Isn't "exhaustion" a code word for drug or alcohol adiction? At least, that's what I've learned from Lindsay Lohan.

It has Sophia Myles in the cast, and she is quite the beauty. She portrayed the blonde vampire in the *Underworld* films, and if you haven't seen "The Girl in the Fireplace" episode from Series 2 of *Doctor Who*, go out and rent it because she was definitely great in it.
