Yeah!!! My life is complete now.
-
...I'm going to go work on that cancer cure I've been putting off for years now while trying to be the first one to post into a talkback.
-
I've missed Season 2 so far, but season 1 was great, and I'll definitely be checking this season out. Love the whole concept of this show, and wish it had a broader appeal. Be nice to see an America where busy bodies aren't trying to tell who can marry who and the number of spouses one can have. Polygamy may not be everyone's cup of tea, but minding one's own fucking business and not trying to legislate morality or "proper" behavior should be.
-
It's the only HBO show that I just gave up on. Even "John from Cincinnati" I have given a chance and has sort of grown on me. They might as well bring back Deadwood if they are going to renew crap like Big Love.
-
enjoy it for what it is ....
-
John from Cincinnati? Love Big Love btw - happy to have it back. Ive got all the John's dvr'd so far- but don't want to waste my time if its gonna get canned- ala - Rome, Deadwood, Carnivale....etc... and please god someone release the rest of Dexter season 2. The two that are out there are awesome.
-
kick ass.
-
Great acting all around from the whole cast and the story line has been tense and exciting. Easily one on the best shows on TV and I would put it up there with Dexter as another great "Adult" show that no one talks about.
-
great show, it hits its stride this season
-
she's pretty! i dont know why Bill bothers with Barb & Nikki, they're ugly.
-
This season is much better than last season, and I really enjoy this show. But having said that, I don't see this show appealing to many on this site....there's no big killings or bloodbaths or even much nudity.
-
Season 1 was so boring I felt like falling asleep at numerous points. Things have definitely picked up for the better.
-
...that's not to say it's a bad show, it's solid and well crafted little drama, and one that benefits greatly due to some great casting choices, but I never got the feeling that it was all that popular. I guess the fact that it's relatively cheap to produce, and that most of HBO's other name shows are no longer around, both combined to help keep it coming back for yet another year. Plus which, I believe it's also a show that sells well for HBO internationally to boot, and that always helps.
-
The Bowie episode was hilarious.
-
Yay for Big Love. Anyone catch Mrs. McClane on tonight? Why didn't Bill tap the Serbian waitress for Wife No.4? Would have been a fine addition to the roster! And what is Alby's problem, exactly? Apart from the closeted gay thing, I mean.
-
One of the best TV has to offer. HBO seems to be back.
-
I dig this show. Didn't watch from the beginning, but I like it now.
And on Conchords, that Bowie episode was fucking great. I nearly died every time they had a Bowie dream. -
I really like the show, so it's good news. One thing I like about Big Love is that it doesn't try to go for "Adults-Only" because it's on HBO. What I mean is it doesn't have incessant swearing, nudity, sex, and so forth - in fact some episodes are far tamer than what's on regular network television. Most of the time it's PG.
Don't get me wrong - I like shows like The Sopranos, Deadwood, and even John from Cincinnati - but some shows that end up on HBO just seem to go for "Hey, we can be unrated - let's have extra violence, nudity, profanity, sex."
In that respect Big Love feels more mature than other offerings. Which is strange for me to say because I genuinely do enjoy hard-R movies and such. Anyhow, I'm glad to see it renewed. -
I didn't want to like this show, but I do.
Its oddly good.
For those that don't think they'd like it, try to put the poligamy part of the story in the backgroud if you can, at first... -
rules! respect the love! i wish margene was allowed to take a 2nd husband. I'd be her baby's daddy anyday.
-
This is the best thing on TV this summer. I'm very happy to hear it's coming back.
And Margene is smokin' hot. -
I was so-so on Big Love in it's first season, but that's why you don't give up on HBO shows. The second season has really clicked and turned up the action. Many HBO shows flounder after their first season and some never do it for me, but the pacing in Big Love is good.. I'm glad it's getting a third season cause that means we may eventually see Bill take over the compound (that's gotta be the long term arc). Even Joey kind of set that up last night with his remark about the compound not always being that way. And Bill was established as "special" early on. Although, I can't, for the life of me, figure how he and Joey came from those parents. Bill is conniving, but his heart is mostly in the right place. And Joey doesn't seem to have anything in common with them. Big Love, Mad Men and John from Cincinnati seem to be the shows to watch this summer. JFC still hasn't gotten it's hooks into me yet, but I've learned to be patient with their shows.
-
It's not that people here are after gunshots and big battles. They're after story movement. Sometimes, gun fights and battles provide this. But for me, having Bill try to walk a tightrope as he maneuvered Roman and Hollis into a war against each other, almost unintentionally, was just as suspenseful as a season 1 BSG ep. I get the feel this show is moving in a particular direction, rather than simply meandering around with the occasional shock twist, like a number of other favorites on this site.
-
after rome and carnivale were both cut short at two seasons, i was getting worried that they wouldn't let this show stick around for a while either. I'm glad it's coming back.
-
how does Ms. Silverman keep getting work? I mean I kinda liked her in Greg The Bunny, but she is kinda not funny ,no really.
-
Bill was in his tighty whities left and right during season one. He was also giving it to all three wives pretty regularly then too. This season has been rather sexless. Still amazing, but sort of sexless all the same.
-
Big Love is awesome.
-
very rich detail of an unexplored subculture. can't wait for season 3...although there for a time you could refer to this show as the "bill paxton's ass extravaganza"...whole lotta bill paxton ass in that show's all i'm sayin.
