The TRICK’R’TREAT Trailer’s Really Sweet!

Published at:  Aug 21, 2007 4:00:18 PM CDT

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

I really hope Mike Dougherty pulls one off. The test screening reactions are great. He’s a good, smart guy who has poured himself into making this, his first feature as a director. He dropped me this quick e-mail the other day:

Not sure if you saw it or not, but someone ripped the trailer from the 300 DVD and did a spiffy upload!

You can see it here.

I'm guessing I’ll be bumping into you at dorkapalooza next weekend?

Terrific trailer. The gal shedding her skin like it was a piece of costume really was spiffy.

    Looks really good.

    by metafreephorall

    Didn't know there'd be fast-moving, wall-crawling, Descent-type little-kid monsters, but 9 times out of 10, if Brian Cox is involved - a movie's gonna be good.

The Ringer would be an exception.

Rather see a remake of "Dead Time Stories"

    by thebloop

Any one see that film in the early 80's? Maybe Tim Story could direct it, and get Mandy Moore, Jason Biggs, and Josh Harnett to star in it.

to seriously. A big of light hearted Halloween fun.

This is the horror movie I'm looking forward to most this year, not SAW or HALLOWEEN.

I hate it when horror trailers show the demise of easily recognizable characters. There's a shot in this trailer that shows a body on the ground while others are crouching down around it, and while you can't see the face, the body's clothes are easily recognizable...

Like an 80s horror film, which to be honest 70s and 80s horror is the only real true horror, all the shit that comes out doesnt have an original idea in them.

The first horror movie trailer in a LOOOOONG time

    by creasybear

that actually makes me want to bother to see it in the theater. Makes me remember a time long ago when Halloween decorations were allowed in the classroom. And yes, Anna Paquin's presence certainly doesn't hurt.

    by batzilla

It's like...all the rage now ya know. Spooks crawling on walls, ceilings. I really fucking hate that shit. As soon as someone does something in a movie that others feel is "cool" then every single motherfucking director has to do it too. Just like that bullet time crap.

    BULL'S EYE! THE ANTI-ROTH/ZOMBIE MOVIE

    by thegreatwhatzit

Love this trailer. I hate to be idly optimistic but TRICK may be the tonic to exorcise Rob Zombie's narcissistic indulgences (not to mention Eli Roth, who comparably makes Zombie look like Hitchcock). Hot chicks, big production value, horror icons and (did you notice?) a forfeiture of gore/guts (story takes precedence). I heard the film's release has been delayed. I hope to God that it debuts in October (little wonder that Zombie's shitty remake was bumped to August; he couldn't compete with the likes of TRICK).

with that movie trailer you left on the computer before you went to work!" That's the TXT message my fiancee sent me this morning. Watched it after I woke up, it looks really fuckin good. All of the above points are spot-on, very Tales From The Crypt vibe to it. And Thurman Murman!!! If I had to predict what this one's about, it would appear that the ghosts of the schoolbus massacre are back to get revenge and, in a nice little twist, are wearing the skin of kids from the town as their Halloween costumes. Sign me up!

This looks really fun. Thats what halloween movies are supposed to be, everyone in the theatre laughing, screaming, and generally enjoying themselves for a couple hours. Some of the best movie experiences I've had were at campy (but scary) horror films, which is what I hope this will be.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Seems like every "scary" movie now has the ghost or baddie climbing on the walls and or ceiling. Ok, it might have been creepy the first few times...but now it's just getting annoying.

    crawling on the ceiling . . .

    by bigdude

Isn't scary anymore. Desensitized!! Thanks to it being used in EVERY fucking horror movie out in the last 5 years. This flick looks like it might be some fun cheap thrills, but it almost comes off as a parody of horror films instead of being a horror film.

    by sepulchrave

That looks FUN. Like a proper old Hallowe'en portmanteau movie with the black humor and the decent cast. Who woke up and decided that horror could be scary and fun again? Where's the degrading human suffering? Where are the dreary white-faced Japanese spooks? Why are the excellent Brian Cox, Dylan Baker and Anna Paquin doing genre?

very atmospheric...the teaser's also cut really good, which is tight. I was iffy when I saw that guy's animated short, it was pretty lame. But this looks awesome!

Except... can I just say that the horror staple of having cryptic messages scribbled all over walls is overdone and needs to die.

"Halloween" was never bumped to August...

    by spongebobs pina colada

...it was always there, before "Trick r' Treat even completed shooting. As for "Trick r' Treat," I expected something better from the trailer. It did nothing to make me want to see it. Fantastic atmosphere, but an incoherant trailer that just doesn't come together. Here's hoping the movie's better. I give that trailer two stars.

    Not a bad trailer

    by tvguy4566

A little ADD, but it had promise. The Dylan Baker story looks really promising since he is the perfect actor to play that mix of creepy and corny. Seemed to go for suspense instead of just gore. Pretty strong cast for a horror movie with no stunt casting (apparently Clint Howard and Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees were to busy filming Halloween). Could be this generation's Creepshow. It is perfect timing for this movie since torture porn has hit the skids in a big way.

I'd like to "Paq" Anna's ""Quin"

    by cinemajerk

Lol...I don't even know what THAT means.

Lately there has been a trend in horror movies to fall into either one of two camps. You've got the "jokey" tongue in cheek horror flick and the "torture" snuff horror film that seems to be all the rage.

Frankly I am tired of both. Bring back some classic straightforward suspenseful horror.

Hopefully this film will be like that. Who knows.

I've kinda lost faith in Hollywoods ability to make a good horror film anymore.

    We shall see.

I am such a sucker for these kinds of movies. I've heard little about this one but the trailer has a "Creepshow" meets "Night of the Demons" sort of vibe, which is a winning combination for me. This is exactly the kind of movie I'd love to see Halloween.

Was a black comedy. There is nothing that precludes humor from horror; everyday life is full of both.
