Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. talk IRON MAN in order to sell DINNER FOR FIVE DVDs!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here.
They're now selling all 4 seasons of Jon Favreau's awesome IFC series DINNER FOR FIVE at Amazon.com for just over $10 a season... $41.99 for the set. If you haven't seen it, you owe yourself a viewing. Each episode has Favreau and four industry friends eating at a different restaurant around LA and they talk about any and everything. It's totally informal, totally uncensored and more often than not funny as all hell.
But, believe it or not, this isn't an ad for the DVDs (okay, just a little, but I seriously love this show and miss it). However, Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. shot a near 6 minute conversation that copied the structure of the show where they just bullshit about movies and previous work. Here Downey talks about working on CHAPLIN, WEIRD SCIENCE and what the final day of shooting was like on IRON MAN... apparently it was Caesar's Palace in Vegas.

I'm doing my best to set up chats with some IRON MAN peeps at Comic-Con next week and it's looking promising. So, keep an eye on the site for more IRON MAN goodies once the big CC rolls around.

-
Probably wont but could when the iron man dvd comes out and dam Downey is great actor chaplin and kiss kiss bang bang are my personal pick, kinda mixed about natural born killers a stupid accent but a great ending.
-
I know Mandarin was IM's central foe, but its 2007 and the character has not aged well. I wish they'd have taken another road, such as using The Ghost, Whirlwind or Grey Gargoyle.
-
Was that a question to me RighteousBrother or just in general? if to me a few times, intial then for company a few singular episodes if there as funny as Quint says they are and maybe another veiwing down the track later on oh and sorry if it wasn't aimed at me.
-
...can't easily listen to this. Those of you that can, is there anything Iron Man-related that's worth repeating?
-
It was a cool show; seeing the weird combos on that show was the best. Peter Falk and Carrie Fischer are two guests that stick out for me.
-
That was fucking heartwarming at the end. Baby's all growz up, indeed.
-
Sorry man, show's ok? hmmm best download a few first.
-
IT WILL BE FONDLY REMEMBERED YEARS FROM NOW. A TALKSHOW THAT`S BOTH SMART AND FUNNY.

Does Downey keep skipping to the loo to powder his nose

Why do people keep hiring this liability to be in movies? I mean, he's a good enough actor, but the odds of him dying or going back to jail or rehad during the shoot seems like a headache I would not want.

Kristen Bell, Ian McShane, Rappin' Jazz(the Transformer), Creed from the Office, and Bill Murray
-
He beat the crap out of Andy Dick, if you haven't heard.
-
Poor sod doesn't know how to mix left and right without bothering the audience... you don't put the talkers east and west 80%, you can achieve the same effect and being listenable, around 40% left and right. FIRE THAT GUY
-
Oh my gawd, they sound GORGEOUS!
-
...Marilyn Manson makes Darryl Hannah uncomfortable talking about porn is my favourite.

You do know that Entertainment Weekly released an image of it like two months ago, right?

They don't make the suit "too faithful" to the original to the point where he moves like C3P0.
-
the only comic character i've ever invested myself in is ghost rider and i got film-raped for my trouble.
-
I hadn't heard about that.I just checked it out. It makes me very happy.
-
I have to say this was fun to watch. I think Jon and Robert have good rapport. Bodes well for the movie. Would love to see a whole Dinner for Five with them both and maybe Terrence and Jeff. Thanks for the clip. I will be getting the DVDS. and yeah.. your all growz up indeed!! HAH love it!
-
Wow who knew both rob zombie and Bruce Campbell were both fully articulated? Guess it's good the didn't invite Chris Reeve to that one.
My five: Nicolas Cage, Tina Fey, Ron Moore, Stephen King, and Ridley Scott -
to make fun of someone's post, and use bad grammar and incorrect spelling to do it.

just cos I fancy the pants off her....
-
Favreau's ocasional smug know-it-all-ness aside, I really enjoyed most episodes of the show and I've always hoped it would come back for more.
-

-

-
Yeah, the Bruce Campbell episode was tops.
-

-
Rosie O'Donnel
Kathy Bates
Warwick Davis
Verne Troyer
Robert DeNiro -
arrghgg!!
-
Chiklis, Luiz Guzman, and Henry Rollins, and Mike DeLuca. Lots of testosterone in that ep, but no talk of the Deluca BJ that got him fired.
-
Checked Amazon's Website, In addition they're selling Individual DFF eps for $10 a piece! Is this Correct? You get all 4 Seasons for about $1 an episode in the Complete Set! Thats a No Brainer. In reality, as much as I dug the series, only one outta maybe 3 or 4 eps was memorable & worth a repeat viewing. Give its Conversation format, A BEST of Series like the recent Larry Shandling set woulda been a better set and kept the price down to $20-$25.
-
So does Downey.
-
Yes!
-
Shooting started around mid March and wraping around mid July. That's about a four month shoot, which is more than enough to get something like this in the can. Hollywood productions shoot for an average of two pages a day. A three month shoot, 60 days, is 120 pages. Each page is roughly one minute, giving us roughly 120 minutes. Of course, it varies per film. Iron Man also had a second unit going, to speed it along. The Dark Knight is not using a second unit, that's part of the reason why they are taking longer. Most of the time needed, to get Iron Man ready for 08, is going to be used by ILM in post.
-
Robert still sounds/looks like he's on the right path, and I love how supportive of each other they are without sounding like pretentious asses. May not have been an ad, but for that price, I think I'm gonna buy the DVDs. Damn you Quint!

Gavin Hood to Direct Wolverine!
Source: Variety July 20, 2007
20th Century Fox has set Gavin Hood to direct Hugh Jackman in Wolverine, the "X-Men" spinoff that was written by David Benioff.
The film, which begins production in November for a 2008 release, will be produced by Lauren Shuler-Donner, Jackman and his Seed Productions partner John Palermo.
Hood is the South African director whose 2005 film Tsotsi won the foreign film Oscar. His next film, the thriller Rendition with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, opens on October 12.
Using several resources that include the Marvel Comics lore, along with the more recent Weapon X graphic novels by Frank Miller, Wolverine mixes action with an origin story about how Logan emerged from a barbaric experiment as an indestructible mutant with retractable razor-sharp claws.
After three "X-Men" films grossed over $1 billion worldwide, the studio has made Wolverine a top priority.
"I have long been a fan of Gavin's work and know he will make a masterful film with the character intensity and action beats the fans expect," said Jackman.

And offering it to a frightened Peter Falk.I love her!
-
...Gina Gershonman oh man!
-
Obidah Stane, how he tried to destroy Tony Stark, first, and only later iron man would make a good villian. I loved iron man issue #200 where Iron Man battled the Iron Monger, and the whole story line that lead up to it.
-
No matter what Andy Dick ever does between now and his death, he will always be known as the guy who got beat up by Jon Lovitz. My God, can you imagine the humiliation? It's like losing a hot dog eating contest to Calista Flockheart.
-
is awesome. Sounded pretty emotional about the whole incident. touching in a weird way.
-
that's all
-
And all the seasons coming out on dvd now.
Hopefully it could back when Favs and Peter schedules allow it. -

GRRRRRR!!!! -
Okay, they told me release date was moved to september, but then yesterday they tell me it shipped... but the arrival date is July 27th-October 2nd. thats quite a window! im so confused.
