It’s Emmy nomination day!
Will “24,” which won the top drama Emmy last year, find itself shut out?
What about “Desperate Housewives”? Have Emmy voters wised up the idea that it’s not a comedy? Or good?
I have some confidence that “The Sopranos” and “Lost” and “House” and “The Office” and “30 Rock” and “Ugly Betty” and “Two and a Half Men” will do just fine this go-round.
“Heroes” might make out OK. So might “Friday Night Lights.”
But what of “Battlestar Galactica” and “Veronica Mars” and “Rome” and “The Wire”? Can we assume that Emmy will treat these amazing series rather less well?
The nominations get announced Thursday morning at 5:40 a.m. Pacific Time. If I fall asleep before then, I encourage the talkbackers to post the nominations and/or tinyurls linking to those nominations. Eventually I will wake and paste them into the main article.

24 should not get any attention this year. Season six was a real fall from grace. On the other hand Lost really improved from season 2 so I'm hoping it will get some lovin.

While they are at it...Andre Royo's portrayal of Bubbles is worthy, even if it was tops in the first season, and lastly, from a WHOLE CAST WORTHY OF EMMYS...I give you Jim True-Frost's Prez, who gave a fantastic performance as a ex-cop turned teacher (and frankly, he EARNED a emmy in season 3 in the single scene as he refused to take legal protection from his fatal mistake). With luck the Emmys will give THE WIRE some spotlight in time for people to see the farewell season on HBO...and send a message to everyone working in TV that writing matters most....and then everything falls into place from there.....And thus, where's Wallace? - - - George, the 7th Chicken!!!!

...more than likely I'll like a handful of the nominations made, hate the rest, and remain pissed for all eternity that "Veronica Mars" was looked over for pure offal like "Lost".
Oh, and I wholeheartedly agree that if "24" gets nominated, I will be pissed. Last season jumped a whole series of sharks. If it gets nominated and wins, it'll be an ever worse injustice. And next season's going to make last season look like David Palmer-era "24". Not that I'll be watching, but mark my words. -

puts all other series to task. true to its seasonal arc, hard to compare with other non-cable dramas. but it doesn't need to, this is what true serial "television" should try and obtain, regardless the genre. (Deadwood S1, 2 and half of 3 comes damn close, though.)

and FilmCritic3000, Lost has turned in a surprising hand. It would nice to have seen it a bit more condensed per season (like 13 hours per), but now that the end has been decided and the season whittled down, I think we're going to see some of the best of what a 'commercial' television series has to offer. -
That BSG gets nominated for Special Effects and that the The Shield gets some sort of nomination.

I LOVE The Shield, it deserves far more recognition and awards, partucularly for acting, than it gets. But The Wire is operating on a different plain. It's not just brilliant TV, it's brilliant art. And it's not just art for art's sake but a thorough examination of life in the U.S, I don't mind that it will probably never win a emmy because the emmys become more worthless everytime they overlook it.

People like the familar and tend to vote with what they think the "popular" vote is. I'm bored already.

The early part of LOST this year was week, but the John Locke character was outstanding acted. Micheal Emerson would also be a great choice.

I think the Emmy voters must only get a handful of channels or don't watch the medium that often, thus they vote for what, like you said, is the most popular or "safe" choice.
Some very rare times (like when "Arrested Development" won), they get it right. -
at least it's gotten much better over the years at broadening its spectrum and often honoring films that not much of the mainstream audience has seen yet. It boggles my mind that the Emmys still honors the shows with the big ratings; how on Earth can they possibly be thinking they're legitimately recognizing artistic merit? We'd be in trouble if the top box office grossers were the films being awarded at the Oscars. Occasionally it's warranted for shows like Lost and Sopranos and West Wing, but Desperate Housewives? An easy answer, I suppose, is that because shows are low-rated, not enough voters have seen them, and it's a lot more time to watch a show than for a voter to conveniently pop in a screener for a movie. Of course they'll never warm up to the teen-oriented shows, and while Lost was a step in the right direction toward broadening the Emmys' minds to sci-fi, Lost is definitely not full-on geeky sci-fi like BSG. I remain pessimistic.

What the hell is Grey's Anatomy doing in the Best Drama category?! It deserved to get shut out just as much as 24 after a terrible season. FNL or Lost(which I've been really tough on but had a helluva comeback year) should've taken its place. And Connie Britton being left out Best Actress in a Drama is a joke. Thankfully Johnny Drama and Pam Beesly got some love in the supporting acting categories for comedy.

lost may not have been nominated in the main categories but it did get recognized for writing and direction. the season finale, "through the looking glass " was the episode submitted and it got nominated for outstanding direction (jack bender) and writing (carleton cuse and damon lindelof).

And Elizabeth Mitchel (Juliet from LOST) should have been nominated for best actress in a drama. I would have liked to have seen some emmy nods to The Shield and Dexter as well. And I love Heroes, but I realize that it should not have that many nominations... it keeps me riveted, but writing/acting on that show needs to be tightened up!

The Emmys want to pull the biggest rating they can. The shows they nominated, for the most part, are simply geared towards attracting the vast majority of the TV-viewing public. If the "best" shows were truly nominated this year, we'd have a list looking something like: Battlestar Galactica, Rome, The Wire, Rescue Me and Lost. Of those five, only one of them has an audience that even comes close to touching shows like House and Grey's Anatomy in ratings. Yeah, geeks like us would be doing cartwheels if 5 like those were nominated, but most of the people out there would say they've never heard of those shows and therefore tune the telecast out as a result. You replace a nominee like Grey's Anatomy with one like Rome, you lose yourself a lot of viewers.

By the way--what the fuck is 2 1/2 Men? Isn't it one of those old-fashioned sitcoms where they're just on a ridiculously disproportionate flat set that, if it were a real house, would have one giant blank wall everyone would stare at, where every fifteen seconds the studio audience laughs hysterically at some "sassy" comment that's not really funny?
Call me naive, but I really thought people stopped watching those after Friends went off the air. After Arrested Development, The Office, Scrubs, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock, Extras, Malcolm in the Middle, etc. etc., I can't imagine going back to the old model. (Called single-camera and multi-camera, right?) But those multi-camera sitcoms are actually still popular, huh? Weird. -

Compare it to Heroes or Boston Legal and it kind of makes you wonder how those shows are percieved as stronger. deucefilms-Yea it feels ratings based but theres always stuff like The Office and 30 Rock that doesn't do stellar.

Plain and simple. Absolutely no basis in reality, or in the quality of the acting, writing, production, etc. Case in point: The Shield got nothing. Nothing! After the scene where Vic confronts Shane? After all of Cavanaugh's confrontations with Vic? Yet nothing? WTF? BSG got next to nothing. Best drama for Heroes (which, IMHO, disqualified itself with that last episode), but not for Lost??? And Boston Legal? Give me a break. James Spader and his schtick got tired, boring, and old years ago. How many times can William Shatner say "Denny Crane" and still be considered emmy worthy? 15 noms for the Sopranos? I hope that's just the voters being sentimental, because there wasn't a single emmy worthy moment this year, and the final scene should have been cause to disqualify that show altogether. And the idea that 3 of the 5 best written drama series episodes this year were on the Sopranos? Please....

The reason why "Heroes" got nominated is because it's the emmy voters trying to be hip and nominate a show they thought most of us thought was cool last year. "Heroes" got a LOT of press, and so it was on the radar. Nevermind the fact that the show completely disappointed all of us with how it built up to what we believed was going to be an epic battle, but instead ended up as a whimper. Not to mention how uneven the writing and acting was for a lot of it as well. "Lost" on the other hand, really found itself again this year, and was by far the better show last year, and although I'm VERY happy that Michael Emerson and Terry O'Qinn got recognized, as did the writing and directing, the show was DEFINITELY better than "Heroes" and "Boston (what the fuck?) Legal" and should have been recognized for best drama. That one is a real puzzler!!!!

The Emmys have surpassed the Grammys as the most pointless media awards. That's pathetic. BSG and Lost can get nominated for writing (woohoo!), but the only nominated drama with a writing nom is Sopranos. Everyone in "hollywood" still thinks of TV as the place where movie actors go to die. Boston Legal? Really? Excellence in television drama? 2 1/2 Men? I could get drunk and accidentally write the entire next season of that show and not notice. If it takes a million monkeys at a million typewriters a million years to write all of Shakespeare, three monkeys slapping their dicks on keyboards for half an hour can come up with 2 1/2 Men.

They should just hand Michael Emerson the award right now. He deserves to be recognized, and not just for Lost, for anything that he's been in. There's something special about the guy. His peformance in 3.20 'The Man Behind The Curtain' was mindblowing. It's a shame Matthew Fox wasn't up, and YES it should be in the Best Drama category instead of the seriously inferior Heroes. Heroes is only in because it was the new hyped show this season. It sucks donkey cunts.

Despite my fondness for Monk, does Shaloub deserve all those wins? The whole six nominees in one category, five in another, makes me think the academy just makes up the rules as they see fit. The academy must think if they keep giving nods to David Kelly, they'll get a chance to bone Michelle Pfeiffer or something. Of course, picking "the best" of anything is going to leave out a lot of deserved favorites, but the bone headed choices made once again proves the Emmys are useless. Anybody know the host? Are the main networks buying these things? All my favorite shows are on fucking cable (The Shield, The Wire, Rescue Me (good for leary tho), The Riches) and the good ones on networks didn't get anything substantial. LOST had an incredible second half. Friday Night Lights was fantastic. Why are the nominations always mainstay/popular albeit admittedly dumb shows? I hope The Sopranos/30 Rock own that night.

VICTORY! Sure the Wire got screwed again, but at least Johnny Drama's fake For Your Consideration in Variety paid off. So glad voters finally recognized him b/c he's the best one on that show. Piven has just been doing a parody of himself lately. Can't believe Kiefer got a nod over Michael C. Hall for Dexter. 24 was just so unforgivably bad this season, and some of that blame has to rest on Jack's shoulders. How the Wire got shut out is beyond me, but did Boston Legal really need those noms? Hmm... happy for Gervais, Rainn Wilson and the Weeds ladies. Very surprised Dexter got the shaft, seeing as it was a critical darling. Glad the Sopranos finale got a writing nom. Regardless of how you think it ended, it was brilliant, which is why it got 3 nods in that category. Also happy for the two Lost supporting nods, but I would've liked to have seen Matthew Fox get a nod. He really carried the show this season and that season finale was heartbreaking. Oh well, another year, another missed opportunity for Emmy to shine its little Gold head on The Wire. When that show ends and goes quietly into the night, only then will people realize what they have just witnessed, which is one of the greatest TV shows of all-time.

The only thing I wanted was How I Met Your Mother, Studio 60, and Always Sunny in Philadelphia to get recognition. Completely surprised and happy that Neil Patrick Harris got nominated, and that at least Schlamme got a nomination for directing. It's nice that Emerson got a nomination this year, but Fox really deserved one for Lost this year. I find it ridiculous that Two and Half Men can be up, but not Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and How I Met Your Mother did a fantastic job this year, and some writing recognition would have been nice. That being said, I don't know how Battlestar got both writing and directing nominations, for such a niche show like that, that's pretty ridiculous. I love The Wire as much as anybody, but I think we're used to it being shunned overall by now. Masi Oka doesn't deserve a nomination. He's that fun character everyone loves, but can you honestly say, for a DRAMA, he deserves a nomination more than Steven Weber, Bradley Whitford, anyone from The Wire,or Michael C Hall? So, overall I'm not as disappointed as I thought I might be, but it's still upsetting to see stuff like Ugly Betty and Two and a Half Men beating more deserving shows.

Since when is it a drama? Don't the Golden Globes classify Boston Legal as a comedy? The show has always mixed comedy and drama but the emphasis is clearly on comedy.
On the plus side, at least they didn't nominate 24 or Law & Order: SVU after the lousy seasons they had. -
First, Michael Hogan of BSG. His work is priceless this season. Holland Taylor of 2.5 Men. She has been in the business for years. Done comedy and drama. Always seems to shine above anyone she is sharing a scene with on television. Then the last one should go to John C. Mcginley of Scrubs. His work has been so consistent on that show from day one and still continues to blow me away.

There's easily enough new gold to occupy 10-15 hours a week of viewing (allowing for the beauty of time-shifting via Tivo, DVR, and/or season DVDs), and nobody here (aside from moi) has even mentioned Comedy Central's Crown Jewels The Daily Show and the Colbert Report, or Sarah Silverman or Drawn Together. Us lardbutts have it pretty good, all things considered.

Wooo-fucking-hooo! Finally the show gets some respect from the Emmy's. The Peabody was awesome, but an Emmy is great too. The suits notice Emmy's, they don't notice Peabody's.Anyway, Deadwood, Rome, Rescue Me, The Shield, and The Wire all deserved more (thought not necessarily in that order).Finally, House pretty much sucked this year. The only thing worth watching on that show is Hugh Laurie. He is consistently brilliant. The writing, however, is sloppy, inaccurate (medically, even to a layperson), sentimental, and preachy.

The lack of a single nomimation given what a stunning and intricately laid out season The Wire had is an absolute travesty. The closing moments of the season finale alone are about as close as TV gets to actual 'art'.

where everyone knows who won already. They have decided already. go and read Anthony Holdens book on the Oscars. When Louis b Mayer set up the oscars 80+ years all the heads were Studio execs. The oscars were designed and controlled by all the Movie Studios. and it is the way that all these things work. It is undemocratic. They view shows like buffy to be outside the mainstream audience. This is not like festival awards where the audience gets to see the film before awards are handed out. in that case it is democratic, you get to see all films, then all the films are then judged by a panel whop are therein the audience and they go away and pick the winner or winners. the oscars the emmys are not a public vote, they are industry do like the oscars.

It's got to count for something that BSG and Lost were recognized for this. Three nominations for the Sopranos is excessive, especially for the finale, but I like the nods for the other 2 shows a lot. How the actors that play (Gauis, Tigh, Starbuck) and (Sawyer) should all be nominated. What about Rome? Great acting.

I'm rewatching season 2 of Rome and it's making me literally come in my pants - and that's nothing to do with the sex scenes...;) it's the acting (seriously, what a cast, and of ACTORS instead of crappy stunt casting), the perfect balance of drama, character humour, action with real danger and copious blood, and YES the fucking. Any show that uses the phrase 'Juno's cunt!' deserves a nom. I would say roll on season 3 but sadly there is no fucking justice in this world. I could watch season after season.

Personally I don't think The Sopranos deserves much of anything after how piss poor most of that final (split) season was, but that's just me. I also think the final season of The Sopranos was a far bigger dive in quality than the last season of 24, and how it got three nominations for writing is beyond me. More due to the rep and popularity that the show has built over the years than due to the actual quality of the show this past season methinks. Personally I hope either Battlestar or Lost beat it for the writing category.
Mind you I also think that 24 wasn't anywhere near as bad as a lot of people make out this past season, but at the same time it was still definitely the weakest season of the show and did show a dip in quality and consistency of pacing, and as such the backlash against it isn't exactly unexpected, and the fact that Sutherland (who still did some quality work this season) is the shows only nom this year seems fair enough. 24's biggest problem now is it's repetition of concept and familiar storyline, as this past season definitely showed, and that's going to be it's biggest hurdle to overcome with the next season, even more so now that Fox put the nix on their planned storyline. Hopefully it'll make a strong comeback next season though. We'll see.
It's nice to see Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson up for Lost, Masi Oka for Heroes, and Kevin Dillon and Jeremy Piven up for Entourage, though Lorraine Bracco being nominated for Sopranos, given that her character has said or done very little this past season, and Aida Turturro up for playing the Janice, the most annoying character The Sopranos ever had, both seem more like they are there because the show has taken it's final bow, rather than because they were amongst the best performances of the past year. Edie Falco is a little more deserving, though again, much like the also nominated Gandolfini, I did feel like they were just going through the motions a bit this past season at times. If they were going to nominate anyone for this past season then it should have been one of the supporting characters who were still doing great work, like Paulie (Tony Sirico), or even more so this season, Bobby Bacala (Steve Schirripa). But it seems like they've gone the "star" route as far as who to nominate instead.
It's also nice to see John Goodman and Eli Wallach up for their great guest spost on the now defunct Studio 60, and likewise Ian McKellan for Extras, and Martin Landau for his spot on Entourage, and Mary Louise Parker getting a nod for Weeds is also a quality pick. Nice to see Denis Leary getting some recognition for Rescue Me as well, and Hugh Laurie and recurring guest David Morse did quality stuff on House too.
As for what's missing, I think that Dexter got royally screwed, definitely one of the best shows last season, it deserved a whole host of noms and got nothing apart from a couple of technical categories (which it still deserved). Jason Isaacs deserved recognition for his fantastic turn on Brotherhood, maybe his partner in crime, Stivi Paskoski, too. Weeds should have recieved more recognition than it did, likewise Rescue Me. And where's the love for The Shield? Meanwhile The Wire got royally screwed over and completely ignored, as usual. Likewise, Rome got utterly screwed in the acting categories, particularly Ray Stevenson (titus Pullo), Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) and James Purefoy (Mark Antony), who all did stellar work during the last season.
As usual, there's good, bad and downright ugly in these nominations, but I guess that's always the case... -

but, as much as I love the Shield and Dexter, I gotta say that Doctor Who and Torchwood were robbed even more. How many Torchwood rip-offs do the networks have coming this fall? At least 2: the cop who can't die, and the whatever who can bring back the dead for brief periods of time.

...that Sutherland was the shows only *major* nom this year (I forgot about Jean Smart, who frankly didn't deserve it...she was good last season, this season she seemed too much of a caricature and telegraphed all her moves ahea of time way too much). Anyway to me it's Boston Legal and the awful Grey's Anatomy that have swallowed up way too many of the acting noms undeservedly this year. Boston is a fun show, but there's absolutely no character depth or growth to Spader or Shatner's characters, and they've been pretty much the same this past year as they ever was, so the noms seem a little silly and pointless. And Grey's Anatomy? I've got two words for that, and both of them are fuck off.

Gavin Hood to Direct Wolverine!

20th Century Fox has set Gavin Hood to direct Hugh Jackman in Wolverine, the "X-Men" spinoff that was written by David Benioff.
The film, which begins production in November for a 2008 release, will be produced by Lauren Shuler-Donner, Jackman and his Seed Productions partner John Palermo.
Hood is the South African director whose 2005 film Tsotsi won the foreign film Oscar. His next film, the thriller Rendition with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, opens on October 12.
Using several resources that include the Marvel Comics lore, along with the more recent Weapon X graphic novels by Frank Miller, Wolverine mixes action with an origin story about how Logan emerged from a barbaric experiment as an indestructible mutant with retractable razor-sharp claws.
After three "X-Men" films grossed over $1 billion worldwide, the studio has made Wolverine a top priority.
"I have long been a fan of Gavin's work and know he will make a masterful film with the character intensity and action beats the fans expect," said Jackman.

Matthew Fos is Lost, His performance on that show weather you like his character or not is one of the best things on tv and a big part of watching Lost is knowing that Matthew Fox is gonna blow me away and most likely make me cry(fuck you) at least once during this season. His performance in through the looking glass is the best to grace tv this season.

A very good character on Entourage, and the visual gag callback to him on the season 4 premiere of Entourage was one of the funnier jokes they've done. And yes, it is sad to have an Emmy ceremony, and not have Sorkin at least nominated for writing, if for nothing more than the pilot. I still say Bradley Whitford fucking deserves SOMETHING for The Christmas Show. So, so good.

I know it seems really strange that Lost would get shafted since this season blew away every other tv show including Heroes. I can somehow understand how BSG could get snubbed since many ppl can't get past the sci-fi aspect. But nothing for The Wire??? I cannot understand how any tv awards show cannot come to the conclusion that The Wire every season has been possibly the best tv series ever created. It makes me think that the voters never really followed the series because anybody who has watched it knows that it is far better than Lost, BSG, Rome, Sopranos and Deadwood not to mention the dreck that actually got nominated.

series, since they were only 10 episodes or so. Rather unfair for shows to be on that short compete against those who make the commitment for 20-24 episode seasons. That way, you could open up drama so that BSG, FNL and the like could get a chance to compete against the best of the rest.

The way Lost did at the end of the season. Every episode was well written, intense, and actually answered a ton of questions that had been bugging viewers. Kudos to Matthew Fox for carrying the show down the stretch and giving an amazing performance in the finale.

Nice to see JOHNNY FUCKING DRAMA AND ARI GOLD nominated, as well as for writing. Really hope Dillon gets it. Piven, sadly, was shafted for the second season- he will never be more deserving than for the episode, Exodus. Dillon has really taken his role and run with it, Piven has gotten comfortable and the writers aren't giving him much new material(although, they already blew their wad with him in the second season, so yeah). Regardless, hope to see it finally pick up SOMETHING other than just nominations. As for the others, I really like 24 and Kiefer, but let's be honest, it was NOT AT ALL deserving of any noms this year. A bad hour for them, and they need to step it up.

Please direct your scorn toward that POS Boston Legal, which screwed Lost out of a drama series nomination. Heroes belonged there on merit, even taking into account the letdown that was their season finale.

Highlight of the nominations: BSG shockingly getting writing and directing drama series notices. A pleasant shock, but a shock nonetheless.
Lowlight: The near shutout of Friday Night Lights, as their hopes for a full 2nd season, I think took a big hit. Its loyalists were counting on multiple major noms, but could only muster 2. Feel bad for youse guys. -

A bunch of pseudo-intellectual E.B Farnum types fawing over the Sopranos cause it's the only TV that's approved for watching in Hollywood. Everything else that's not a movie is simply beneath them. There has never been a more pointless award show. I never watch it, but it's hard not to comment on the noms.
I loved Heroes to death. One lackluster finale doesn't ruin a season anymore that a great finale can save a season. But even I wouldn't nominate it as a best drama. Dexter and Rome should have definitely been up there. Probably Deadwood as well.
Kiefer can't act. Or rather he can only ever act out the same expression, time and time again. Put him in a sitcom and he'll have the same zoned-out constipated expression. He's great in certain roles, but it ain't talent. He's just playing himself in every role he's ever been in. As a counter-example, Ian McShane is possibly the finest actor I've ever seen. I was a little so-so on S3 Deadwood, but McShane was at the top of his game the whole time. I mean, he's fuckin' riveting all the time and I can't say that of any other actor. The fact that he hasn't won anything alone delegitimizes the emmys for me. I suppose they are worried that he'd be getting a blow-job while giving his acceptance speech.
I wish Herc would organize a counter-Emmys that takes votes from people like us, who actually watch the fuckin' shows. Granted, that means Lost and BSG would sweep this year, despite having their worst seasons, but at least those shows are in the ballpark. And I suppose Tigh deserves something for his performance in Exodus Pt. II. TV is a big deal for me and others here. So why are we stuck with the Emmys?

I haven't seen season 4 yet, but I watched the first three seasons based on everyones adulation for it here. It's a good show. I have nothing bad to say about it. I'm looking forward to season 4 on DVD. But man, I just don't see why everyone thinks it's the second coming. Hardly any of the characters are likable and the stories are, well, basic crime stories and not much more. I'm not even sure why I like it as much as I do. It is a technically better show than the Sopranos (many shows are), but the entertainment value is lacking, IMO. Again, I like it and I'm not trying to start a Wire war, I'm just trying to understand why so many here consider it the best show in TV. Maybe it only becomes apparent in season 4?? I do love the closing credits music to an insane degree for some reason.

Pathetic. Granted, some people thought it had a lull - which I don't completely agree with - but its worst episodes are far better than most shows' best episodes. "Heroes"??? Could a show be more bland? The noms for Terry and Michael were nice, sure, but Matthew Fox was exceptional this year. How many characters go through transformations like his did from the season's beginning to end? Not to mention the flashbacks (and flashforwards). He went from reluctant and insecure to confident and became a leader. Yuck. Emmy = Grammy. Nothing but a popularity contest anymore.

But to say Kiefer is a good actor is to say that you've never seen him in anything else. From Young Guns on, it's been the same exact wooden performance. Good acting would be when you forget about that Kiefer guy (or anything else he's done) when you watch Jack Bauer.

The emmys have become a waste of time and a huge joke. After last year's debacle I didn't think it could get worse, but lo and behold it has. Lost has had an amazing third season, and no best drama nomination to show for it. What does Matthew Fox have to do to get a frakkin' nomination. He was terrific in the third season, not to mention one of the biggest screw overs I can think of - Elizabeth Mitchell not getting nominated. Her scene in "One of Us" where she confronts Ben in the kitchen alone had emmy written all over it. How Jean Smart can get nominated from 24 where she was in like what one episode this season is beyond me. The only good thing that can come away from this is hopefully Michael Emerson will win. I knew he was gold from the moment he debuted on Lost and was disappointed when he didn't get nominated last year. Hopefully the emmys will rectify that by giving him the award now. And lastly, I have to say the biggest letdown was no love for the best new show in my opinion, "Friday Night Lights." This show is amazing, an acting tour de force, with every scene leaving an emotional resonance. I really feel every episode of FNL is to be treasured. Anyways, how crap like Patricia Arquette & Boston Legal still gets nominated I sure as fuck don't know. I mean when is that show even on? Regardless, I will not be watching this crap emmy show this year or any year for that matter until the voters either all get lobotomies or get replaced by competent members. Fuck them.

And rightly so. Consider it the "Return of the King" version of the Emmys: Maybe not the strongest work, but a big fat huzzah for one of the top dramas in the history of television.
That Supporting Actor - Drama category is brutal: Just about anyone in there could win it. Terry O'Quinn ? Michael Emerson ? Imperioli ? Brutal.
