Is it based on the "hit" Broadway adaptation?

    by big bad clone

The more important question is: will it have actual dancing? Because all it seemed Bacon and Nice Guy Eddie were doing was having seizures. It's like this big build up of what the kids are missing out on and suddenly Kevin Bacon is jumping and a jiving like Benny Hinn is casting the devil out of him.

Is your "Hollyood is out of ideas" statement a remake?

    by big bad clone

or a reimagining? Footloose is musical on Broadway with prices far steeper than any multiplex would ver have the balls to charge you. Why does Hollywood get flak for redoing something after 20 fucking years or more when Broadway mines the same fucking material forever and then gays up good stuff like High Fidelity?Save the ire for something else, after the new Footloose leaves megaplexes after a two week run, it'll be as out of sight on DVD as it was when some washed out star played did the same show early this week.

    Get Ready People It's Coming...

    by southside_2010

All of the favorite films you grew up watching and adoring made before the 90's are being turned into remakes. Hollywood has found its cash cow. And when money talks...the studios answer with shit that is nowhere near as good as the original. I hate all this remake shit and it it keeps up it just might turn me off of new films altogether. I'd rather watch the films I loved watching back when there was no imminent threat of it being fucked with. This sucks and I hope most of you will agree. Oh and by the way the original "Footloose" was a pretty damn cool film. Hate to see it recycled. Peace...

Oh Lord WHY? Damn the success of Dreamgirls.

    by the founder

What's next? Hollywood really should'nt remake Footlose. They are only doing this becuase they thibk musicals are profitable now. Dreamgirls did quite well, and i usually can't stand musicals but i do want to see Hairspray and that looks to be a hit. I don't see how they can improve on the oringinal. Zac Efron isn't b.o draw. I hope this tanks.

Even though this idea is terrible...

    by rickets419

The Broadway version of Footloose is pretty good. During the original auditions people were carried out in stretchers because the dancing was so intense. I hope they use the broadway songs because the old songs had incredible energy and were sung by the right characters, and the new, original songs fitted nicely and helped with character development. I'm tired of nostalgic (sp?) movies being made into musical, and even worse: then being made back into movies, but this good work. The Footloose musical bombed, but has been one of the stronger adaptations to come out. WAY better than High Fidelity the musical.

This is a film adaptation of the Broadway Musical?

    by uss cygnus

They made a Broadway musical from the original film. It has played London, and toured the world, and is a popular show with regional, academic and community theatre companies. If you get a good company producing the show, it's pretty cool. I need more information, but, I'm guessing that's what this is. If it is, this isn't as bad as you might think it would be.

The Only Sequel/Remake I'm interested in is

    by rich malone

The Only Sequel/Remake I'm interested in is 'Matilda', with Natalie Portman reprising her role from 'The Professional', taking over for her mentor Leon as a gracefull contract killer. Get Danny Aiello back as her handler, who at first is uneasy puting her to work, but can't resist because she's so damn good at what she does. Throw in a good villian to take over the Stansfield role, this time he can be an overly-dedicated NYPD detective or a N.Y. based cop (or move her to Boston and have William Monaghan scribe it). I picture Willem Dafoe, Dougray Scott(MI-II), or Tcheky Karyo(Bad Boys/Kiss of the Dragon)taking over for Oldman.

In the sequel, Matilda takes out mob guys, terror suspects(a good CIA/contract for hire angle, maybe even gets an offer to work for them, opening up the way for the trilogy, if it's ness )etc...

So there you go. A film that actually connected with the audience, has good & realistic violence (no CGI Bullshit). If Hollywood can remake actual good movies, or continue good franchises', then cool. But FOOTLOOSE??? Naw....I"ll pass
