Loose! Footloose! Time to remake FOOTLOOSE! Kick off your Sunday shoes!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, Paramount is HIGH SCHOOL MUSICALing up FOOTLOOSE. Zac Efron will star in the remake and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL director Kenny Ortega will direct. The plan is to turn it into a full blown musical. No word on which HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL cast member will be the John Lithgow character... can you tell I'm excited for this one? Bleh...

Dude what is up with all the completely unexciting news
by potsmokinalien
seriously, just because a movie is getting made doesn't mean you have to let us know about it right? if you got nothing to post, dont post, we'll keep coming back don't worry.
-
This is getting fucking ridiculous now.
-
What is with Hollywood? Ruining the damn classics with remakes.... ;-p
-
The more important question is: will it have actual dancing? Because all it seemed Bacon and Nice Guy Eddie were doing was having seizures. It's like this big build up of what the kids are missing out on and suddenly Kevin Bacon is jumping and a jiving like Benny Hinn is casting the devil out of him.
-
I just calls em how I sees em
-
or a reimagining? Footloose is musical on Broadway with prices far steeper than any multiplex would ver have the balls to charge you. Why does Hollywood get flak for redoing something after 20 fucking years or more when Broadway mines the same fucking material forever and then gays up good stuff like High Fidelity?Save the ire for something else, after the new Footloose leaves megaplexes after a two week run, it'll be as out of sight on DVD as it was when some washed out star played did the same show early this week.
-
I guess that typo means I didn't have a real point anyways....
-
I'm going to go smoke some crack now.
-
Please cease the production of any and all shitty remakes STOP Those asshole kids from high school musical are getting too much work STOP If Hairspray wins any Oscars I will staple Zac Efron's scrotum to his face STOP
-
try singing with your own balls for a chin
High School Musicals 2 and 3?!?! wtf!?!? -
As long as people keep on seeing the cruddy remakes, they'll keep on remaking films to their hearts' content.
-
"So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph. Because good....is dumb." He had no idea how much dumber evil was going to be in command! Are people actually going to want to see this? And what terrible cameo will Mr. Six Degrees himself sport in this? I guess we'll never know, because no one will ever see this movie.
-
They really have ran out of ideas.
-
Young gay boys everywhere are going to be so excited.
-
All of the favorite films you grew up watching and adoring made before the 90's are being turned into remakes. Hollywood has found its cash cow. And when money talks...the studios answer with shit that is nowhere near as good as the original. I hate all this remake shit and it it keeps up it just might turn me off of new films altogether. I'd rather watch the films I loved watching back when there was no imminent threat of it being fucked with. This sucks and I hope most of you will agree. Oh and by the way the original "Footloose" was a pretty damn cool film. Hate to see it recycled. Peace...

And anyway, I doubt that the horrifying corny original will be "ruined" by this remake.
-
I didn't peruse this talkback to see if anyone had made the following statement yet, so no plagiarism intended: Bottom line... films about dancing are retarded. Not "silly", not "borderline unwatchable". Retarded. What's even more retarded? A remake of a retarded dancing movie.
-
What's next? Hollywood really should'nt remake Footlose. They are only doing this becuase they thibk musicals are profitable now. Dreamgirls did quite well, and i usually can't stand musicals but i do want to see Hairspray and that looks to be a hit. I don't see how they can improve on the oringinal. Zac Efron isn't b.o draw. I hope this tanks.
-
I read some months ago, or after Dreamgirls was doing well that a Fame remake was in talks or something.
-
Remake Beat Street using the cast from La Haine and District B13. Get Egyptain lover ,Arthur Baker, and Mantronix to do a new soundtrack.
-
Ok, all you young punks probably hate Footloose but to those of us around at that time it's a 'reminder of the good times' type film....They need to leave it the fuck alone tho, it's old and cheesey but you can't improve on it...
-
You know what would make this better? If the main character is the closet gay kid and the black kid is his first kiss.
-
The Broadway version of Footloose is pretty good. During the original auditions people were carried out in stretchers because the dancing was so intense. I hope they use the broadway songs because the old songs had incredible energy and were sung by the right characters, and the new, original songs fitted nicely and helped with character development. I'm tired of nostalgic (sp?) movies being made into musical, and even worse: then being made back into movies, but this good work. The Footloose musical bombed, but has been one of the stronger adaptations to come out. WAY better than High Fidelity the musical.
-
With "Golden Showers"? It would be a real p*sser!
-
was the main draw anyway. Specifically; an 80s soundtrack. I suppose they're hoping for another multi media sensation, but I doubt lightning will strike a second time.
-
I mean Footloose for one hardly needs a remake...Ive only just forotten the original...but the High School Musical guys? seriously? I mean SERIOUSLY?
-
Which is really weird to me. If they are doing this as a full blown musical will they use that show as the template or write original songs?
-
I hope they find a role for Mark Walhberg, he loves remakes. Maybe he can play The Reverend.
-
Footloose? Really? This could sink poor Efron's star mighty quick. He should be camping outside Laura Ziskin's office, pleading to take over for Tobey Maguire in SPIDEY 4. At least he's the right age.
-
They made a Broadway musical from the original film. It has played London, and toured the world, and is a popular show with regional, academic and community theatre companies. If you get a good company producing the show, it's pretty cool. I need more information, but, I'm guessing that's what this is. If it is, this isn't as bad as you might think it would be.
-
That would be lights out casting.
-
It MUST be so!
-
NO! no hollywood. No.
-
Wrong shitty 80's dance oppresion movie.
-
Gleaming the Cube, Iron Eagle, Karate Kid, Top Gun and The Breakfast Club. Also watch out for Over the Top starring The Rock and if we're really lucky The Wraith starring Paul Walker!
-
The Only Sequel/Remake I'm interested in is 'Matilda', with Natalie Portman reprising her role from 'The Professional', taking over for her mentor Leon as a gracefull contract killer. Get Danny Aiello back as her handler, who at first is uneasy puting her to work, but can't resist because she's so damn good at what she does. Throw in a good villian to take over the Stansfield role, this time he can be an overly-dedicated NYPD detective or a N.Y. based cop (or move her to Boston and have William Monaghan scribe it). I picture Willem Dafoe, Dougray Scott(MI-II), or Tcheky Karyo(Bad Boys/Kiss of the Dragon)taking over for Oldman.
In the sequel, Matilda takes out mob guys, terror suspects(a good CIA/contract for hire angle, maybe even gets an offer to work for them, opening up the way for the trilogy, if it's ness )etc...
So there you go. A film that actually connected with the audience, has good & realistic violence (no CGI Bullshit). If Hollywood can remake actual good movies, or continue good franchises', then cool. But FOOTLOOSE??? Naw....I"ll pass -
Have the dancing kids get "stoned." And not on pot!
-
I could see him doing the scene's where he goes off. And is pissed and starts to dance in that field.
-
the guy who played willard died
-
Stop the madness now
-
STAR WARS...Nothing but STAAAR WAAARS! The Musical with an all teen cast. Can't wait Hollywood...
-
I think the biggest task will be making that Kenny Loggins song into something the gangsta rap & new age rock kids in 2007 will enjoy. :-o
Okay, if we can remake Footloose, we can do one more try at those Star Wars prequels! :-p -
Wait, can John Lithgow sing? This is gonna ROCK. Well, it'll sort of rock. I guess. Maybe not.
-
Shia the Beef!
You know you want it! -
Who isn't looking forward to seeing Milo Ventimiglia as Ren and Hilary Duff as the Horse Faced chic and Diane Weist is still alive right? C'mon...and oh man can we get a cameo by Kevin Bacon? It'll be grand..."I could've danced all night...." Sorry. Someone had to be sarcastic.
-
worse than Dirty Dancing Havanah nights and The Fog remake!
-
I can't wait to dance along as I watch this super cool movie in widescreen!! Thanks Hollywood, your'e the bestest in the world!!
