We'd been hearing indications about this for a while now, but yesterday The Shat definitively stated that he / James T. Kirk doesn't have a place in Orci and Kurtzman's script for JJ TREK. Nimoy will appear instead.

HERE'S WHAT HE SAYS!!!

Personally...as muck as I'd dearly love to see these actors play these characters on the big screen (if only for a moment)...I think the presence of either Nimoy or Shatner in JJ TREK will be extremely distracting. The franchise needs a reboot...a reinvention...a pure, back to the basics re-approach to some degree. The appearance of either personality will inherently bring along baggage & invite even more comparison to what's come before. And...they've got quite a bit to live up to already. But, maybe that's just me.
