Full Comic-Con schedule posted! See what goodies are planned for the geek masses!!!

Published at:  Jul 09, 2007 5:22:06 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So, those sneaky monkeys over at Comic-Con.org have quietly posted the full schedule for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

It’s going to be a big year.

CLICK HERE TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE FOUR BIG DAYS OF GEEK AWESOMENESS!!!

Sometimes I run down my exact schedule, but I won’t do that this year. I will tell you what I will not miss, no matter what, though.

Thursday – Paramount’s Panel (Hall H – 1:30pm-3:30pm) IRON MAN, INDY 4, STARDUST, THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, HOT ROD, BEOWULF and TREK, with JJ Abrams there as well as Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Andy Samberg, Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary… plus some surprises.

I’ll probably also try to catch some of the Max Brooks/George Romero Panel (4:45-5:45, Rm 6CDEF) as I love Romero’s movies and Brooks’ books, but that might run into LIONSGATE’s panel (3:45-5:15, Hall H) where they’ll show stuff from MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, SAW IV and have Jessica Alba onstage.

I think I might skip out on that one in order to hit the LOST panel (5:00pm-6:30pm, Ballroom 20) since I’m a LOST whore.

Friday – The big, must see panel of the day is without a doubt Warner Bros’ panel (10:30am-12:00pm, Hall H). WATCHMEN, WATCHMEN, WATCHMEN… plus some ONE MISSED CALL, GET SMART, INVASION, TRICK ‘R TREAT and SPEED RACER. But Zack Snyder confirmed with WATCHMEN talk and surprises.

There’s also a Fox Panel with stuff from AVP 2 (bleh), a New Line Panel for SHOOT ‘EM UP (with Clive Owen there) and GOLDEN COMPASS. I want to be there for that, I really do… but at the exact same time is the DIMENSION Panel featuring Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN and Frank Darabont’s THE MIST. I’m sure you can guess which one I’m excited for, but I’m curious to hear what Zombie has to say about the movie and what he brings to show for it. THE MIST, though. I can’t wait to see some footage from that and if it’s what was being talked about onset, then you’ll be in for a treat at this panel (2:30pm-4:00pm, Ballroom 20).

The day also has panels featuring Ridley Scott and half the BLADE RUNNER cast talking about the big DVD, Kevin Smith doing one of his classic style Q&As and the Chiodo Bros talking about their work. God, I love Comic-Con.

Saturday – I’m really torn on this day. Do I go for the big HEROES panel or the Rogue/Focus panel at the exact same time? I love me my HEROES and all of them will be there, but new Neil Marshall footage (DOOMSDAY) and BALLS OF FURY… urgg…

Disney has a panel on PRINCE CASPIAN and Pixar’s WALL-E, which I will not miss, Universal has a panel on INCREDIBLE HULK with Ed Norton and the whole cast there and Sony has a panel on 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, RESIDENT EVIL 3 and SUPERBAD.

So much stuff!

Sunday – Is actually almost totally free. I’ll probably watch the webmasters panel with Moriarty up on the stage, sweating under the hot lights and use this day to run around the convention floor, blowing way too much money on geek shit.

I’m in the process of cementing some interviews, especially with WB and Paramount stuff. Should be a good year. Hope to see some of you guys there. If you can’t make it, I’ll do my best to bring the experience to you.

    Jessica Alba likes one-night stands

    by thebloop

In the world of sex, there is a stigma about the one-night stand. Women who indulge in one-night stands are called names and relentlessly attacked, while men revel in the idea. On the eve of the release of Fantastic Four 2, Jessica Alba has tried to debunk the stereotypes about one-night stands, saying she enjoys no-strings-attached sex.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, 23-year-old Jessica Alba has stated that she loves to experiment with sex, and that she does so with many different partners. "I just wanted to see what it was like to be with different people. I don't think a girl's a slut if she enjoys sex," the curvy actress said. Alba, who has been romantically linked to Entourage executive producer Mark Wahlberg, said, "I could have a one-night stand, and I'm the kind of girl who looks over in the morning and is like, 'Do you really have to be here?' I don't need to cuddle and do all that stuff because I know what it is and I don't try to make it more."

This should be the most interesting panel, imo. I'm betting the producers are going to be facing a lot of irate fans still annoyed over the diabolically bad s6. It'll be interesting to see their reasoning for its failure, especially as the first 4 episodes were amongst the show's best. Go easy on them. Oh, and someone try and get the scoop on s7 and the on/off film idea... pleeeease...

    by big jim

on Friday night. It's hilarious. Can't go this year (couldn't justify the 2 grand for air & hotel) so I will be eagerly awaiting the daily reports. I really would have loved to see the Watchmen panel (300 last year was probably the best panel). And you know they'll have a Comic Con exclusive trailer for Iron Man, which will be the shit. And Jessica Alba & Kate Beckinsale live again, just like in 2005. Hmmmm, maybe I should rethink this, extend my credit even further. Won't be able to get a hotel at this point but, fuck it, I just won't sleep for 4 days. Usually don't get much sleep anyway. Maybe it is do-able after all.

I've never paid attention to Comic-Cons early release scehdule. Does this mean that something as large as a Dark Knight panel will not be a part of Comic-Con at all?? There's no chance Nolan and crew decide to participate from now until Comic-Con?

Good reason why Missy Peregrym's on the Reaper panel..

    by pennsy

She jumped ship from NBC to the CW; the female lead on that show was recast from the pilot she won the part. Bummer; I enjoyed Missy's Candace Wilmer wreaking havoc in the show's latter stages. So the storyline will be that Nikki killed Candace in their climactic fight in the season finale. I guess. Hope they don't take the easy way out and recast Candace.

bacci40, the crowds on the trade-show floor last year

    by big jim

was too much. The first time I went was 2005 and it didn't seem that crowded. But last year was insane. Sunday was the worst; wall-to-wall people. In 2005 I could easily move down the aisles with little or no problem. In 2006 it was like being a human pinball, constantly bouncing off people. Little to no room to move. Forget getting close to a booth, just getting from one place to another was like navigating through a Romero flick, with mindless zombies every step of the way, always in your way. I guess that's the difference between 100,000 attendees and 120,000.

    Comic-Con advice . . .

    by despacio

This is my first year going and the one thing I'm concerned about is getting to see a panel like the Paramount/Iron Man one or The Hulk one. Just how many hours ahead of time should one get in line for such a panel?? 3,4,5,6 hrs? I fear the worst.

Despacio, I think both those panels are in Hall H

    by big jim

which is 5000+ seats. If it's first thing in the morning, try getting there at least an hour before start time. Unless you want to be in the first few rows, then I suggest a few hours (never gotten that close so I don't know). But if it's later in the day, just go during the panel before and when it ends, some people leave, you can then move to a better seat. There are washrooms in the hall (which is a godsend if you plan to spend the day in there) and they sell food outside. Also, there are several giant screens throughout the hall so even if you are near the back or on the side, you get a good view.

    Sophie's Choice

    by big jim

Yeah, it's like that a lot. Last year I skipped Bruce Campbell because his panel ended when the one for Spider-Man 3 began. I didn't think I'd have time to get down there in time. So instead of Bruce I went to the Pirates panel that was just before Spidey's and it was well worth it. So it all worked out. Missed Bruce but got to see some funny CG bloopers. On the other hand, last year I went to the Paramount panel instead of the Heroes one and ended up regretting it. But the year before I decided against, I think it was Jon Favreau & Zathura, to see David Cronenberg instead. Excellent decision.
