Nicole Kidman goes back to AUSTRALIA with Baz Luhrmann! First pics hit the net!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. It's been a crazy week, with the Fourth falling right smack dab in the middle of it. I got a few stories for you folks before I run off and play some Hold 'Em with the weekly regulars.
Call me gay, question my taste, but I really love Baz Luhrmann's movies. STRICTLY BALLROOM, ROMEO + JULIET and MOULIN ROUGE are all movies that I love unabashedly. So, yes. I'm looking forward to his new flick, reuniting him with fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman.
Rotten Tomatoes UK got a dozen or so pics from the shooting of this flick, AUSTRALIA. If you click on the image below you'll go to their site and get a glimpse at Kidman and Luhrmann shooting in some beautiful Australian location... I love seeing the Qantas boat, by the way. I always fly Qantas when going to NZ... been trying to rack up my Qantas airmiles so I can upgrade to business on one of my trips down there... I can't imagine how awesome that 12 hour flight would be when not in coach...

Why would anyone question your taste or call you "gay" for liking Baz Luhrmann's movies? He's one of the most original and invigorating directors on the planet. There's no shame in liking his work.

It's funny cause he's one of those directors that has very showy cinematogrphy and wild editing styles yet it works.
But I can't wait to see him out of his musical element. -

...the movie could be fun. I adore Nicole Kidman and am happy to see her doing another pretty period piece. I'm a huge fan of "Moulin Rouge!" so Luhrmann's presence interests me. The title is damn vague and idea of this being Luhrmann's "Titanic" or "Pearl Harbor" (in the sense of it being an epic love story set against the backdrop of a catastrophic historical event) might turn some people off, but this could turn out well.

I've done that 12 hour flight in business class. I got upgraded randomly in both directions, much to my delight. It was awesome... lying on a Quantas 1st-class bed-seat. Booze, movies... It was nighttime for most of it and I watched twinkling lights of ocean liners far below us in the endless black Pacific, and the stars above twinkled very clearly above a faint endless line of distant mist that seperated the sea from the dark sky. It felt like I was orbiting the earth on a space shuttle for twelve hours straight. beautiful. i was very drunk at the time.

And I'm a man. I honestly don't think it's gay to like that movie. It's such a stoned out masterpiece. Definitely one of the trippier experiences I've had watching a movie. My only regret is that I didn't see it in a theater. Ah well, I appreciate it now.

i've always LOVED luhrmann's R&J...and he put radiohead's "talk show host" to such good use.

she does. My god she must have stock in botox! Lord knows she's not conservative w/ that bullshit! She's getting to the point where she dosen't look like a human being. And it's been like that for some time now. Some could say, ever sense the Tom seperation, but maybe it was before or during.

Part of me still wants to see what Baz would have done with the Alexander The Great story. Never thought I would hear myself say that but his version might have been better than Stone's version.

Also, surely any sane guy would like to hang around a girl's boarding school (corrr!). Having said that though the one near me in western Sydney also had an Aussie contraction. SPC, which ostensibly stood for Saint Pat's College but we all called State Prison Camp. Oh those Catholic girls (including Nicole)! -
Fact is, you should brush up on your trivia. George Lucas in his 2001 Esquire interview said: "The original story concept for Darth Sidious involved two penises, or one that split into two, that for the purposes of film-making we were not going to rely heavily on CGI for. We were just going to use diffusion latex, mostly, and barbecue sauce." In other words, like the Aborigine tribes that would split open their dicks whenever they were going to make the thirty-kilometer walk to sit inside an open theater, you would have to be gay enough to slice open your dick, stick another dick inside, and stitch it back up with pink surgicial thread to watch a movie like Moulin Rouge.
Funny you should mention Tom Cruise, since I happen to have it on good authority that he and you had a dick-to-dick dock on the set of Moulin Rouge while Nicole Kidman was letting me slap her tiny tits around with armadillos. -
