Reminder: JERICHO Begins Reairing Tonight!!
Merrick here...
Just a reminder that CBS begins re-airing JERICHO tonight. It's on at 9 pm Eastern (8pm Central).
CBS will re-broadcast the series' pilot episode tonight. Next week, the network will re-broadcast its hour long encapsulation of the first half of JERICHO Season 1...then jump right into the second half of the first season (which, in many ways, is detached from the first half & quickly gets to the thrust of what the series is actually about).
If you've been reading the site for a while, you already know my feelings about this series. If you don't recall, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and especially HERE are some refreshers.
Whenever I post a JERICHO article, I tend to write and write and write about it. This time, we'll keep it short and simple...saving the big stuff for when the potentially abbreviated Season 2 airs next year.
If you bailed out of the show before the second half of the first season (believe me, I was tempted to do so myself)...now's a great time to see what you missed (and you missed quite a bit - it became a different show, to a large extent). If you're new to the series (having heard about it from friends, or through the widely publicized "Nuts' campaign to bring it back), this is a great time to check it out.
And, as always, you can see ALL episodes (and learn about many things JERICHO) via the series' official website, which can be accessed HERE!!!
I sure do hate the way CBS is promotion the reruns of these episodes so far (at least the spots that I've seen - maybe there are others?) Their promos say / show NOTHING about the show that'll entice people to watch it.
Sigh.

I haven't even seen a promo.
Thanks for the reminder though -
Definately reeked of "crappy show on CBS" but I still liked watching it. I'm rather enjoying this past half decade of television, sci fi and hardcore violence has really taken off!
-
According to TV Guide online, that is. Now that everyone's forgotten about the show. But, it will give people a chance to see Kim Raver not playing a muttering loonie.
-
Who the fuck cares? We all know it was a group of probably 20 die hard fans who sent all those nuts to CBS. I watched the first 4 episodes of this show and couldn't stand to watch any more.
-
If I'm giving up a new season of DR. Who for Jericho.
-
Dont judge the show by its first 6 or 7 episodes. It gets a lot better as the season moves forward. And Hail join the 21st century and get a damn DVR.
-
Hail needs to get a DVR. And ditch the old rotary dial phone too.
I wish that they could tap into what everyone is DVRing. I would happily share that info if it helps keep good shows on the air. The Nielson ratings system is a dinosaur that needs to be put down. To them I say NUTS! -
after the first half of the season, i was like, this is a soap opera with nukes and guns. I hope its more thrilling at the end of the season.
-
to miss this show again! It's going to be so sweet to not watch it, not record it and wait for it to be cancelled again.
-
That everybody's watching!!!! YES!!!
-
Was pretty good. Like 24 good.
-
Yes. Most TV shows are soap operas. Only Jericho, Heroes, and 24 put nukes and guns into it. Lost, Sopranos, Buffy, Rome, Dexter, ER, Twin Peaks, Desperate Housewives, Drive, Weeds, etc. All are examples of prime-time or cable soap operas, some better than others.
-
Come on man, give it a chance! Jericho is great, I neeeeed it next season.
God knows why but I really liked this show. I think I put far too much on the location of a show...I know it's not really shot in some sleepy backwater, but I really want to live in Jericho (not after the nukes of course).
Please give it a chance, I live in the UK and have 0 influence on the viewing figures, so I can't help it out at all. My poor, poor show.
Watch it!!!! -
They should promote it more.
-
Shameless beats Jericho anyday.
-
Where the hell is it? Great show.
-
Well?
-
It's only a matter of time before it gets canceled again. Sorry kids, no amount of nuts can save you now.
-
If you notice he never handles the stories for this gawd awful show.
-
Herc's taste in shows isn't an automatic sign of quality. Hence the O.C. and Big Brother talkbacks. Also, Capone handles The Shield talkbacks....and that show don't suck.
-
...back in the day, and there was plenty of things that sucked in that one.
-
Nope, sorry it didn't. Even the pilot episode was excellent. My point was that Herc chooses shows to cover at times because of quality, and other times because he's addicted to reality tv and mediocre shows featuring Buffy alumni. It during that time, the AICN film guys have to pick up the slack.
-
I was referring to the fact that almost everytime I turned on FX back when the show started someone was getting a bj.
-
No one said Herc likes nothing, but shitty shows. He just let a couple of good ones slip through the cracks. So the Capone and Merrick picked up the slack.
-
good one dude!
-
really should be forced to watch the first half. It puts everything into perspective...in other words, it will illustrate how a pretty entertaining second half somewhat redeems the shit first half, and debunks the lavish praise ("best show ever!" "it's deep, meaningful, and resonant!") that The Nutz heap on it.CBS is rather smart by repeating only the second half.
-
Where the fans are so annoying it prevents me from ever enjoying the show itself.
-
Just kidding :)
-
because there wasn't anything worthwhile to begin with.
-
*SPOILER* Johnston Green's death in the last episode was retarded. This guy they've established as ex-marine just walks in nonechalantly beside a tank. Not behind the tank, beside it. And gets shot. Of course the tank is going to draw the most gunfire on a battlefield... it was the most lazily staged death I've ever seen.
-
Have there been reshoots or something? It's a joke that in a ratings game with millions of viewers at stake they uncancelled this piece of crap because of a couple thousand people. Mob rule isn't supposed to work that way.
-
This story is going somewhere, and I think it deserves the chance to finish what it started. There's a primary reason JERICHO didn't succeed, and that was that it tried very hard to be a lot of things to a lot of people.
The advertisements that originally aired for it made people think it was going to be ... EDGY ... and ... DARK! It showed kids watching nukes go off from rooftops. It showed hints of a devastated Earth. It showed people struggling to survive, and had that jagged font that says EDGY! to today's mass-market youth.
The trouble is, the actual show was at first a lot more like a Hallmark show than anything else, filled with stories about family and getting along through tough times. That's not what the majority of the people who tuned-in wanted: they wanted stuff that sounded more like this:
"Damn it! You betrayed us ALL!" "The city is GONE!" "WHERE IS THE CODE KEY!? WHERE IS THE DISK!?" "Pop quiz, HOTSHOT!" "KILL THEM!" "LEAVE NO SURVIVORS!" "Walnut Grove? THIS - IS - JERICHO!"
And that wasn't what JERICHO was about, at all. People were expecting the first hour of the pilot to be MIRACLE MILE and the second hour to be THE DAY AFTER, and they were angry when that's not what they got.
However, I think that JERICHO is a worthwhile show. People need to wake up and realize that not every single show needs to be DARK and EDGY to be able to win people over and to be worth watching - sometimes it's GOOD not to be stressed-out with cocktease tension every week (are you listening, LOST? I'm talking to you!). Sometimes, it's good to just stop and get to know characters. Sometimes, it's relaxing to see how other people deal with long-term situations rather than just beating a finite problem to death (24, I can hear you breathing) in order to move on to the larger finite problem.
JERICHO defies categorization. And it's good that it does. It's a very square action/drama show. It's got some interesting characters I'd love to get to know over longer seasons. It's got some intrigue and secrets, sure, but they are dressing on the characters and you'll note these pieces of dressing increased as the show headed into the end of Season 1. I predict, sadly, that Season 2 will be much more about code-keys and disks than about characters, because people don't really want to get to know eachother any more - they just need to beat on the newest problem and move on to the next.
Watch JERICHO. It's good for you, like an apple.
-
just premiere all the shit shows you are going to show in the fall like the caveman show and that shitty vampire show "nightwatch" and then you can some worthy shows in the fall. i never watched jericho so i wont bother bashing it.
-
A lot of people have said of LOST, "Oh, it's just building slowly." Well, I think JERICHO is a lot faster than LOST, but it seems to be very much moving in the direction toward a more militaristic, action-based show as the series progressed to the end of Season 1.
Look, you know how you watch an old pilot and you see things they brought in that were abandoned, and by the end the show looks nothing like the original?
That's JERICHO Season 1. You really ought to just give it one or two hours of your time toward the end of this run of repeats. Watch the finale. It's not a crazed march into action, but I think it clearly shows where the show is headed.
I LIKE the show. I think it's an interesting idea, and I'm curious to see what kind of themes they are moving toward. If it's going in a bad direction, I'm not going to just watch out of loyalty. But I think it's a shame it got cancelled right on the edge of doing some good stuff, and I'm so glad there's even a short second season to get this story completed.
Just give it a try? -
The Fucking Shield because your claims are ridiculous. Everytime you turned it on someone was getting a bj? WTF show were you watching? Surely not the Shield.
-
At least not a full episode. But like I said, EVERYTIME I turned on FX when the show was on, SOMEONE be gettin' their knob slobbered. You gotta figure in the constant replays of the show as well. I musta landed on that black dude getting blown by that chick by the dumpster and the gay dude at least half a dozen times.
-
There's a weird coincidental magic or something about reruns. You can turn in to a bad episode of a show, walk away for months, hear someone tell you how awesome the show is, and tune back in only to get the -exact- same epsiode or one featuring the exact same content that turned you off EVERY TIME. It's like a rule of the cosmos or something.
-
It's always the one where Eric and Donna do it on the kitchen table.
-
I caught a new episode of KIDNAPPED this morning at 3am on NBC, another new episode is set for next Monday morning.
