Man From MARS!! 25-Year-Old Dohring Replaces 60-Year-Old Serbedzija As Supporting Vampire On CBS’ MOONLIGHT!!
I am – Hercules!!
Josef, the ancient vampire originally played by 60-year-old Croatia native Rade Serbedzija, will now be played by 25-year-old Ohio native Jason Dohring on CBS' new fall series “Moonlight.”
Dohring previously played Logan Echolls, troubled teen spawn of movie stars, on all three seasons of “Veronica Mars.”
This marks the second major recent cast change for “Moonlight.” Britisher Sophia Myles (“Underworld Evolution,” “Art School Confidential”) very recently replaced Texan Shannon Lucio (“The O.C.”) as the series’ female lead.
“Moonlight,” the tale of a vampire private detective who falls for a young mortal woman, boasts as its new showrunner “Angel” co-creator David Greenwalt.

That's all I have to say. She made "Art School Confidential" far more enjoyable than it was.

I wish this show would stop giving me reasons to watch.

Dohring is immensely talented, and Greenwalt knows what he is doing, but why is he working on a show that is almost an exact copy of Angel, but much more two-dimensional. I'll give it a shot, but I don't see how it could be nearly as good as Angel was.
-
looks like all of the cast has moved on, so I guess I should too... (sniff!)

I'll catch the pilot but my hopes aren't too high on it

It is a good casting decision there. Dohring is a pretty damn good actor but I'm really hoping that Greenwalt will put some kind of unique twist to the whole "vampire cop" thing to really make this good. I suppose we'll see.
-
I'm sure Rade Sherbedgia does too...
-
Yeah, that was an easy call...hopefully these changes jell.
-
I hope to God this doesn't turn out to be the cheesy "Angel" rip-off I thought it would be, because I've been waiting for Dohring to get a role on a decent series (one which might actually propel him into his own series or a viable film career). And Myles' addition is just icing on the cake - I've loved her since she played Madame de Pompadour on last year's "Doctor Who." Actually, these recast roles sound like the meddling of the network, but who cares? Both are improvements, and now I'll actually watch this show come autumn.
-
Did FX's check to AICN bounce this week or what?

Instead we get casting news for a show that will probably last 13 weeks.
-
That good enough for ya, Selector? :) That was some pretty shocking shit, I have to say. I thought the Chief was just going to go ape and smash his place up with his golf clubs or something, but holy shit that was quite a shocker. Anyway, on topic, weirdly enough, I saw an ad on CBS tonight for this show that actually featured ol' Rade. Y'know, I will probably check this out, Alex O'Loughlin was pretty cool on The Shield. I mean if you're on The Shield, you got good taste.

Case in point Brothers & Sisters.
-
But neither of them are Charisma Carpenter...yowww!
-
When did THIS happen?
-
i was all prepared to NOT watch this show cause it seems like something i would enjoy which is a sure sign that it will be cancelled after just a few weeks. but now they have to go and cast jason dohring. i can't resist! i have to watch now!
-
God forbid someone over 30 stars in a TV show.
-
Can you imagine her on the show as Sylar's girlfriend? The havoc they could wreak; get as far away from the Superfund-esque toxic waste dump that IS the See-Double-Ewe.
-
Their last one was Forever Knight, which was quite good for a show with such an (obviously) low budget. Hopefully this one can do at least as well. OTOH -- does every "good" vampire have to be a cop/detective?
-
I don't even think he's in the closet (he was out when he was on the Tori Spelling show). I'm sure Kristen is the type of girl who keeps her gay friends close.
-
Like a 80's Dr Who with vampires. Last saw whatsisname in last season 24 as Nathonson.
-
when you first find out an actor you really like is a scientologist.
-
I think Dohring's a very interesting actor and I'm curious to see what he'll do in such a different role. BTW, major changes to a show is not always a bad omen. Look at Brothers and Sisters - major changes behind the scenes and with actors, people were spelling out its doom before it even aired, and it turned out to be ABC's biggest new hit last season. Not that I'm holding my breath for this one. And, um, damn - can Kristen Bell be any hotter in those pictures?
-
Weird. I wonder what Bruce Willis thinks of this.
-
Maybe syndication or cable but a Vampire show on CBS is a sure thing loser. It may not even get 6 episodes. Old people watch network TV and your mom or grandma ain't going to watch vampires when they can always tune into reruns of Touched By An Angle or Murder She Wrote.

Can the US make a geek show without a Brit these days?
by Mickey The Idiot
Bamber and Callis in BSG, McDowell and Eccleston in Heroes, Laurie in House, McKidd in Journeyman, Stevenson in Babylon Fields (well, maybe) and now you tap up Doctor Who's missus.
-
i like Jason Dohring but i hate the idea that its an angel rip off. dammit!
-
Blood Ties may be better.
-
but you aren't going to come close to the coolness that was Angel.
-
Weren't there already some commercials for this? The early ones where they pimp it for the fall before there's even really a show? I could have sworn I saw some and they looked like they were shot by someone who graduated from direction soap operas to tv pilots ripped off of other shows.
-
Amber Valletta is replaced by Shannyn Sossamon. So only Alex O'Loughlin remains from the original cast. The deathwatch for him begins. It is only a matter of time before they change the entire premise of the show. Obviously, CBS liked the idea of the show, but hated the execution.
-
Add me to those brushing this off until Dohring (yum!) and Greenwalt were added. Screw. Ah well, I guess since "Veronica"'s gone, I don't feel too badly about loading up another show to my DVR.
-
I would really like to see "original unaired pilot" with myles and šerbeđija (suck it, that's his name) as an dvd extra when "moonlight - the complete series" is released 4 months from now.
-
...."with eight episodes never aired on TV"! I really don't care about this show.
