Man-God Oliver Platt to play Bob Zelnick in FROST-NIXON!!! All rejoice!!!

Published at:  Jun 26, 2007 11:56:29 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. God, I love Oliver Platt. I'd have his man-baby if he asked me to. He's one of the most solid character actors out there. He's great because he can be funny as shit, but he also knocks the serious subject matter out of the park. If you've seen him on HUFF, you'll know what I'm talking about... his character had so many demons, but was constantly hilarious. Great stuff.

So, Platt is now on Ron Howard's FROST-NIXON flick, which is the most intriguing Ron Howard project in years. It's an adaptation of a stage play and the cast is phenomenal so far. Michael Sheen and Frank Langella return in their stage roles (Sheen is Frost and Langella is Nixon), Kevin Bacon, Sam Rockwell, Toby Jones and Matthew Macfayden are also in the cast. Platt is playing Bob Zelnick, the executive editor of the Frost-Nixon interviews.

This could be amazing. Thank God Opie's doing a movie that I'm even a little interested in seeing again.

    Good play

Just saw it on Broadway a couple weeks ago. The subject matter might even lend itself better to film than to theatre. Can't wait to see what Howard does.

When did he reach MAN-GOD status?

    by darksider

Not that I doubt Platt. He's very good. I must have been out that day. I guess Bruce Campbell has some company now.

Extra interested in this. Michael Sheen is turning into a bit of a man-god for me. He was easy the best thing in Underworld, then he plays Tony Blair to perfection in The Queen. Now thats range.

    by filmcoyote

I saw this in the West End on its original run in London last right and Langella and (Michael) Sheen were superb. Sheen is really proving to be a brilliant actor. The rest of this cast looks good and I've always liked Platt and Bacon so here's hoping Howard can actually deliver an okay film, like he used to way back when.

I'm not sure if Platt deserves that kind of praise...

    by silver screen surfer

but I like him, and I'm looking forward to this film. I hope Ron can get back on track with this one.

Spooging in your pants about a half decent B-list actor getting cast in an obscure political drama that will gross maybe $30 million? Easy on the fucking hyperbole, my man.
