There's a new trailer for The Simpsons Movie online at Yahoo.
Quite a few sequences we haven't seen before, as well as (to the best of my knowledge) our first glimpses of the "dome over Springfield" about which we reported quite a while back.
LOVE the 20th Century Fox fanfare here. May well be the...best...bastardization...ever.

I hope to see this movie without any regard for all of the baggage it brings with it, because it looks entertaining and amusing. It doesn't look hilarious or even necessary, but I hope it has at least 3 good laugh-out-loud moments, clever nods to episodes from the show's glory days, and the kind of storyline and humor that aren't completely fueled by pop culture (South Park, Family Guy, etc.).

As for the trailer it has more laughs in 90 seconds than the series has had in the last five years. What a shame they didn't cancel the series to concentrate on movies every couple of years and leave its one time unparalleled greatness and genius uncompromised. -

Anyone else not digging the animation style they used? Way to much 3d and the motion just seems different. Sure they've evolved over the years, but theirs a certain animation style that persists that just doesn't seem to be here.Here's to hoping its good though!

there are some funny moments in the trailer. They had the oppurtunity to make the great american movie, but I don't think they took advantage of it. Beavis and Butthead, and South Park both did a good job at translating their shows, but I don't see the same happening with this, sadly.

And what did we do to deserve being treated to the thoughts of a libertarian? My problem is that I'm not sure the Simpsons does action all that well: Grandpa Simpson and the Flying Hellfish was pretty inventive, but the trailer makes it seem like the action to comedy ratio is about 3:1. I'd like to think that Swartzwelder and company have been hoarding away good ideas for the last 8 years (because they haven't been making it into the episodes) for inclusion in the movie, but the ship may have already sailed.

The worst thing that could happen this summer would be for 20th Century FOX to screw up both a Die Hard movie AND a Simpsons movie. The first 8 minutes of LFODH look alright for an action movie but it's NOT Die Hard!! That said, the trailer for Simpsons is pretty darn funny. They'd better start the movie with Ralph Wiggum doing the Fox fanfare!!! And Spiderpig is just freaking hilarious!

Those of you who say "the show is bad now" can go to hell and die, don't care if you live or not honestly. The show, the movie, they're both great. "Spider-man 3" "Fantastic Four 2" both let everyone down this summer, it'll be nice to have a movie that provides exactly what it says it's going to, not some suckass version of garbage.

the simpsons is probably the greatest television show ever made and has earned my 11 bucks at the theater. it doesn't change the fact that the show has stunk for almost a decade (or more, i can't really remember anymore). and this movie will probably be a lot more "LOL POP-CULTURE HOMER IZ WACKY" than the brilliant satire of seasons 2-7ish, when the throwaway jokes within the throwaway jokes were more clever and original than anything else on TV.The argument on this TB is asinine-- people who still think the Simpsons is funny don't seem to realize that the people who don't think it's funny anymore still love the show and always will. We (the latter) are just spoiled by the golden seasons.

Especially Ralph in the 20th Century Fox logo. I love Ralph. This movie is going to rock. I am so there. Of course, I like most of the series shows, too, at least some part of it.And sometimes they get better with age. I've watched episodes I didn't care for when they originally aired and really enjoyed them, years after I thought they really sucked. Like fine wine, some Simpson seasons need to age before you can savor their full flavor.

There's a BIG difference between Homer falling down the side of a mountain (which was sorta believable) or bending backwards over a fire hydrant ("This is even more painful than it looks") and a scene where he smashes the glass on the jukebox in Moe's, and stands there with blood gushing out of his lacerated hand while exclaiming "Ooooh, hemmorage-a-mundo!" That kind of fatal woundage was usually contained only in the Halloween episodes, but far too often these days, we get "jokes" like Bart dragging homer face-down around the baseball diamond, and Homer sitting up with a blood-covered face, or Homer getting mauled by a badger and opening his shirt to reveal his intestines hanging out. That's not funny, it's just disturbing. So, the "claw hammer in the eye" gag had me hanging my head and sighing.

I'll watch the movie (although I also don't understand Schwarzenegger over Wolfcastle... it's like bringing in Hal Fishman instead of using Kent Brockman), but I haven't been able to watch a complete episode in about 10 years. There's no heart to it anymore. No coherent 30-minute storylines. And it sucks. NO, it's NOT better than 99% of what's on television. Yes, I guess I'm a 'hater' if I think Homer getting raped by a panda is disgusting. If bringing back Frank Grimes' son is unnecessary. And I sure as hell won't watch it opening weekend, because it'd be filled with people who think hammer in the eye is hysterical.

If I had hated the show, and continued to watch, just to complain, then that would be retarded - a point many fanboys of various TV shows have brought up (24 talkbalks, for example). I've even watched a few minutes of the supposedly 'vastly improved' past couple of seasons. Didn't enjoy it. Thus, didn't pick it back up.

As someone who lives in California, I'd actually rather have Ah-Nuld in the white house than the Looney Toons president we have now...

I'll be VERY surprised if it hits 80 mil in the first week. It will fall of the charts in week 2, since Transformers will debut and run 200 mil + in two weeks, until it, too, fades to obscurity before the wrath of the Harry Potter machine...
