A quick review of Frank Oz's DEATH AT A FUNERAL is carried in by a team of laughing pallbearers!!!

Published at:  Jun 13, 2007 4:53:52 PM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love Frank Oz and I hope every single time he comes out with a movie that I love it, too. Sometimes I do (What About Bob?), sometimes I don't (Stepford Wives). But his gold to shit ratio is pretty strong. BOWFINGER, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, DARK CRYSTAL, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS... He's given us some great material as a director.

Sounds like DEATH AT A FUNERAL has turned out to be one of the good ones. This isn't the first positve review we've gotten. I can't wait to see it... if only to see Peter Dinklage, Alan Tudyk, Ewan Brumner and Andy Nyman play together. Enjoy the review!!

I got a chance to see a screening of this movie and I was surprised on how good it was. Now I love Frank Oz. I love most of his movies such as Little Shop of Horrors and his work with the Muppets and Star Wars, What About Bob, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Dark Crystal. I however did not enjoy In and Out, and Bowfinger, or the Stepford Wives remake. BUT, I think Oz has made a hit. This movie is flat out hilarious.

It is a Dark british comedy about a funeral.

I didn't know Frank had it in him to make a gross out (American Pie-ish) type of comedy. Well he has and he has accomplished.

So the synopsis of the story is this family's father has died and he was a great man. Well come to find out he was secretly gay and having a love affair with a man midget who wants his cut of the will.

And this is the craziest funeral I have ever been too. This funeral has naked people who take pills which consist of Special K and acid, guys pcking up chicks at funerals and yes, lots of poop.

I recommend this movie if you enjoy dark comedies. It is very funny and I look forward to Frank Oz making more of these types of movies.

    Bowfinger is criminally underrated

    by badmrwonka

Eddie Murphy screaming at someone to get him a retarded slave role...Steve Martin's ponytail and cell phone gag, the freeway scene, all the veiled scientology references...SO FUNNY...I'm definitely seeing this one...

I think it was called Eulogy. Anyway, I love a good comedy that involves funerals, mainly because real ones aren't usually all that amusing.

I would watch her in a movie about the glory of Rush Limbaugh, I don't care...

    by silentbobafett2

Heh heh! No,s eriosuly though, I know a lot of people who say they don't lie Bowfinger, but when I speak to them about bits from it - laughs alaround! I cant' see how, as people who love film, you can dislike it! Its fucking hilarious and Murphy and Martins best roles in ages!!!!

People say htye don't like it cos its a modern eddie murphy comedy and how can you be cool if you like an eddie murphy film after the 80's? Well fuck you all, I just like what I like and couldn't give two shits what anyone else thinks! Bowfinger is a wondeerfully funny and CLEVER comedy about filmmaking! :-) accept it! :-)

I love it when Steve Martin tells the Eddie Murphy character to run across the freeway, because "all the drivers are stunt drivers", now that's funny.

    Bowfinger is fried gold!!

    by col. tigh-fighter

I put off watching for ages, you know Steve Martin (cheaper by the dozen) and Eddie Murphy (Dr Dolittle), bound to be crap. What a fucking gem!! And shock of shocks, it even had heart as well as top comedy. Eddie Murphy as Kit Marlow is fantastic. Love the scene where he's accosted outside tyhe shop, and the actors head starts melting. Hilarious. "I must not expose myself to the cheerleaders!"

    The Score

    by blackwood

Anyone? I'd count it as one of Frank's best - partly because it's so against type. I definitely like his dark comedies, but he does tension well. And Bowfinger was great. In the midst of all it's screwball zaniness it had genuine heart.

    by nice marmot

. . . since my wife absolutely loves this flick and watches it every friggin' time its on. And I'm amazed by all the Bowfinger love. Looks like I can add it to my list of movies I think are absolute shit but everyone else loves. I get to file it alphabetically before The 'Burbs.

what a great family film that adults can enjoy too. Not too many of those around. And anyone who can marshall DeNiro, Norton and Brando deserves credit. And, loved his cameos in Landis' flicks.
