Rest In Peace Don Herbert
(aka Mr. Wizard)

Hey guys. Quint here. This comes as a blow, I have to say. I don't know if I ever knew the name Don Herbert or paid attention to it at all when I was a kid, but I sure as hell knew who Mr. Wizard was. In the heyday of Nickelodeon I watched this show all the damn time.
I don't know if I ever saw the original '50s version of the show, but Mr. Wizard's World was commonly on in my house. Whether he was showing us how to make a volcano effect or how to make a magnet with a battery or showed us how to make optical illusions with common house-hold items, I loved it. I am extremely sloppy when it comes to that kind of work, so I gave up trying to imitate the show and just watched Mr. Wizard work his magic. He lived a long and interesting life. From being a bomber pilot in WW2 to his eventual fame as a '50s TV personality teaching kids about science. The man kind of lived it all. Mr. Herbert died in his home yesterday after a battle with bone cancer. My thoughts are with Mr. Herbert's friends, family and fans.
