Pixar announces their newest project in development!!! Coming 2009... UP!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Any news is good news when it comes to Pixar projects. And I like the way this new one is sounding.
Of course, they have WALL-E for next summer, but the project after that is called UP, about a 70 year old man who teams with a wilderness ranger to fight "beasts and villains." I'm hoping there's a supernatural bent to this and beasts means monsters.
Pete Docter (MONSTERS, INC) directs with Pixar vet Bob Peterson, who also wrote the script.
So, Pixar's future is laid out for us. WALL-E in 2008, UP in 2009 and TOY STORY 3 in 2010 and, possibly, the Pixar JOHN CARTER OF MARS sometime after that. Crazy that we're so close to the twenty-teens, eh?

pixar is the only animation studio doing anything right these days.
and first? maybe? -
got tig ol biddies.
oh wait wrong talkback...
-
Seriously? That was one of the best damn write-off of a TV character ever. Puts that Sopranos finale to shame.
-
It's nice to hear that Pixar is doing a film about actual humans beings and not some goofy, cross-eyed animals.
-
Sounds like a stretch. It would be their first unoriginal property, and something tells me it ain't happenin'.

WALKER TEXAS RANGER IS BACK ON DVD
by supercowbell 4 cant stop the cowbell
oh man that commercial is hilarious.
anyway zillabeast wrestling is horrible but i love watching it because its hilarious because of how dumb it is.
AND fingers crossed for toy story 3 because if it isnt as good as any of the first two THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!
-
pixar will make me cry
-
but it could be awesome. What could the title mean?
-
thing was an April Fool's Joke?
-
Interesting...
-
Just got back from the Drafthouse screening of the latest from Pixar and it was awesome. I love Pixar and just hope Toy Story 3 doesn't suck ass, which it most likely won't. so good.
-
And I am still young, desirable to the ladies, able to do copious amounts of drugs and fuck all night and with a bright future with endless possibilities...

was about JCOM being live-action and directed by Brad Bird. It turned out that Bird will be doing 1906...but Pixar supposedly IS thinking about doing JCOM as their first live-action film. Which is quite a bit more of a departure than just being their first unoriginal property. I know that sounds crazy, but that's how the news stands right now. And I don't know how it could really still be "Pixar" if it's live (maybe a 300-style, 90% animated type of deal?) If that's the case then god knows when they're planning on going into production. It could even come out sooner than some of those other films perhaps. In any case, they seem to have some un-usual ideas as far as approach that they're being tight-lipped about. There's also been some interesting developments involving Zemeckis that might have some impact on JCOM. Of course, it's all speculation at this point. I just hope as a fan of the material that there's some big announcement they're holding back...I'd much rather see a JCOM-flick sooner rather in 2000-teen-something.
-
Pixar continues to come up with the best themes and stories for their movies. I may see Cars as a blemish, but at least they don't make 8,000 goddamned all talking animal movies. Or try to cash in on penguin fever.
-
Really. Sick and tired. Why can't they produce a decent CGI flick for adults, Robocop style?
-
...the idea of Pete Docter directing this has me extremely excited. Plus, it's fucking Pixar. They still haven't let me down, not even with last year's "Cars," which I was sure was going to be the first Pixar flick to completely suck. The more Pixar the better, if you ask me!
-
Yes. Fucking. Please!
-
"UP" couldn't possibly be an acronym for "Upper Peninsula," could it?
It's the second week of deer camp and all the guys are here... -
2010 for ts3? and anyway, if there is a sequel to be made it should be for the incredibles. that was an awesome flick (despite the almost fantastic four feel, the ff were definitely the peg for this one). i'd like to see what jack jack can really do.

this info is OLD, NEWS is supposed to be NEW
-
There was some groundwork laid on that by disney but when the takeover took place, Pixar scrapped it. Am right about that?
-
The Variety link is from yesterday and CHUD posted it too. They even gave some JC-love and some for HG too. Hey Disney/Pixar...what's up? JC has a certain mystique now, people who were clueless are now curious. You paid for the rights...again. Get busy fuckers!
-
disney was trying to move along on their own with toy story 3 before they aquired pixar. the story was something like : there was a recall on buzz lightyear toys everywhere, so buzz gets sent back to japan and woody and friends have to save him. but then disney got pixar then pixar abandoned disneys plot and started all over. in fact this is a perfect time for wikipedia!

I reckon they should start using dedicated voice actors for these movies. Billy West, Frank Welker, Maurice LaMarche etc. could bring so much to these movies.
-
"WALL * E" (June 27th 2008)
"Up" (June 12th 2009)
Toy Story 3 (Summer 2010) http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/070610d.php -
Like the old Russ Meyer movie!? That's a weird association. Not that it can be bad to associate yourself with Kitten Natividad running naked through the woods.
-
...it's not a race to see who posts stories first. Unless there's the word "EXCLUSIVE" in the title, you shouldn't even bring this gripe up.
-
Then it shouldn't be called "Up!"
-
I asked one of their animators about this a week after the disney-pixar deal was announced, and he said they had scrapped all work that had so far been done. He quite rightly said he thought the fans would want a Toy Story film done by the origial crew. Apparently toy story 3 was looking VERY different to the first two.
-
According to Jon Favreau's old JCOM myspace group, Disney bought the rights with hopes of PIXAR branching out. He also mentioned that it could be a while before they work on the project he has been in talks with the Burroughs Family for quite a while and was pushing for it to be made, then they tell him he's out. Not in bad words but still. He told us it was a sad story. I hope they go Live Action.

Bring back the Incredibles!
-
when this site had news like this first.
-
To all of you who are confused about TS3 ... Disney (not Pixar) had the rights to TS and had started work on a TS3, but when the two companies merged, Disney scrapped their work so that Pixar could make TS3. Got it?
-
thats basically what i said but you said it better
-
I've seen some stills from the film, and it didn't look like the UP to me, eh!? No pasties, no deer, no miles of scrub cedar trees. But that premise would make a good pixar film! We need a CGI remake of Escanaba in da Moonlight!
-
That's what I want to see.
-
WE NEED INCREDIBLES 2
-
this could be the movie harry wanted matrix reloaded to be...
-
good for them, its the most important message these days. but then get on with some serious teen/adult immersible scifi! mars, john carter, incredibles, whatever.
-
Lost his Job for all of writing a review for this site...For shame Fox , for shame Story...Long Live Memflix read his story memflixbeyond.com
-
I'm pretty sure it was.
-
I seemed to have missed news about that.
-
I was in my twenties and had no shame seeing Toy Story with my buddies (no kids). It was amazing. All their concepts, and the rendering thereof, have been brilliant. The stories are clever and tight, the characters are memorable, and the voice actors have all done-top notch jobs (they know how to pick their damn voice actors). And damn, Holly Hunter's Elastigirl is the sexist animated female I have ever seen, ever. I had impure thoughts about her.
-
Huh? How? Where? Is this true?
-
There's no chance, I know, but still, a boy can dream
-
'nuff said.
-
I'd love to see PIXAR do some kind of Mad Monster Party film, something that revisits the old horror films.
-
Pixar's definitely on a roll. Disney would have been seriously wounded it they had let Pixar slip through their fingers. I agree, best animation studio currently around with a nod to Miyazaki and Ghibli. John Carter of Mars - oh yeah. And let's hope Bird's next project will be Incredibles 2.
-
...and please create a blonde "friend" for her as well. Thank you in advance, Pixar.
-
You know, some people take their love of cartoons just a little too far...
-
I thought Disney was starting a whole new company just to do motion-capture movies, with Laseter and zemekis in charge. their first project was supposed to be beowulf and then A Princess of Mars. Is this not true? Anybody? I'm desperate for Burroughs/Mars movie news! HARRY FIND OUT!
-
Somebody else around here remembers that, right? The original chartered course with the first TOY STORY sequel was just gonna be straight to video (before DVD got so big, of course). Then somebody high up said wait a sec, are we fucking nuts? Another one a'these is gonna be huge! To the theatre we go!!
-
seriously that thing good. i wanna be friends with it.
-
yea i heard of that. then they wacthed it and relized toy story 2 was actually GOOD. unlike the aladin and lion king sequels. and what about the land before time movies? they still make those people THEY STILL FUCKIN MAKE THOSE!
-
It would be near difficult to make JCOM "Princess of Mars" anything but PG-13 or R. Now if we can only get it Live Action or "300" style Cg look.
