30 DAYS OF NIGHT teaser hits - and it looks great!
Hey folks, Harry here with the first teaser trailer for 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, most likely in theaters this weekend with HOSTEL: PART 2. The trailer is exactly what I was hoping for from David Slade, the director of the fantastic HARD CANDY. The film feels bleak and scary - and the vampires look disturbing. This is just looking great. IGN has the trailer - check it out and see if you agree... Here ya go:
Would you even want to spend 1 of these 30 DAYS OF NIGHT here?

i LOVE 30 days of Night!!!! YES!
-
The graphic novels and first actually novel were all great.
-
Is it fake, or what?
-
FAKE bitches!
-
Otherwise it looks slick.
-
More likely AICN was asked to take it down by the powers that be.
-
dead fuckin on. 100% the next 300 blockbuster.
-
It's from BATMAN the Ride. Merrick took it down when we realized it. It was a real Batman thing, just not for the film.
-
I loved Hard Candy. Screw the Batcycle, talk about vampires making a comeback.
-
even though the poster, website design and giant credit to the graphic novel are clearly trying to suggest parallels. Funny how a few years ago the studios were trying to hide the fact that something was based on a comic book (ROAD TO PERDITION anyone?) and now they emphasize the unholy fuck out of it.
-
Oh, wait... No it's not. Why don't all these hipster doofus directors just get it over with and shoot black and white already? They're desaturating it enough as it is, and it always looks like shit. Pass.
-
This looks like it has some neat licks to it, but whatever happened to vampires that had genuine personalities? It looks like a cross between JEEPERS CREEPERS and THE THING, which were both good. Josh Hartnet is a competent enough actor but he is just not that interesting to watch. He was so one-note in BLACK DHALIA.
-
i can't wait to see more of their vampire, since that was one of the things that i loved abot the graphic novel was that disgusting visceral vibe that they had with the widened grins and the mouth of sharp teeth. i can't wait... but if you go to an AMC and see hostel 2 for this trailer, make sure you're watching print 2 or 3 (so no amc theater with a singular print will this trailer... lame).but i'm fucking pumped
-
as long as they can rein in Hartnett's face.
-
..Alice Goon from the Popeye cartoons..this is such an obscure reference but anybody geek enough to know what im talking about?
-
...automatic box office poison. He got one lucky break with The Grudge, but it's over and done with.

much scarier than any vampire. -
...28 WEEKS LATER. That film was sensational.
-
..a fellow geek in our midst..
-
Octobers a long time to wait.
-
I saw this at a screening earlier in the week. The movie is in rough shape and definitely needs some fine tuning, it gets a bit confusing with time in the middle and it felt like there were big chunks of the movie missing, but overall it's a nasty little creature feature that doesn't skimp on the gore (there's one brutal decapitation in the movie that got a hell of a reaction from the crowd). The acting was solid, though some of the forced melodrama got a few yucks from the audience, and the vampires looked great even if they did act more like Velociraptors than traditional bloodsuckers. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the completed version in theaters.
-
so far so good.
Phantom Menace taught me that a teaser does not make a good movie. -
Can't wait!
-
That...looks...AWESOME.
So I know they got 2 minutes right. 88 more to go. -
Dude, you've already seen the flick! Review, sir! Spoilerific, if possible.

You bitch about Zombie's Halloween but cheer for this?
by derlanghaarige
Oh, I forgot, it based on a graphic novel. :P
-
man you guys are gonna get some shit for that...
-
That looks amazing. Thank God for horror movies that are about more than just people being tortured with sharp things. I've been waiting for another great ice-bound horror since Carpenter's The Thing, my favorite ever movie!
-
I'm not really much of a horror fan, but the cinamtography, and the setting (obviously) remind me enough of Carpenter's The Thing, that I've got to see it. some of those shots looked AMAZING. the SUV driving, show form a low angle, so you can see the sky blending in with the snow...very cool.a horror film I really want to see...wow
-
Cool vampires - the start bit scared the shit out of me. however, I love me some Muse but the song didn't really suit the clip at all.
-
You selfish fucks! I don't give a shit if it wasn't real - you deleted the fucking TB, you motherfuckers!
-
If I hadn't read, and really liked the comic, I'm not sure I'd want to see this movie. Well that's not true, it's a vampire movie produced by Sam Raimi so that's enough to pique my interest, but I'd go expecting it to be not great. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's just the way the trailer's cut. I'll still see the movie, but my attitude towards it has shifted from pumped to skeptical.
-
I know this is kinda weird, but could someone post pic of fake batbike...i'm just curious as to how it looks, that's all
-
We want to see it and think it would be cool.
In fact, there's no reason to not run it...
...other than that you're lying and it was real and Warners are on your back.
So, seeing as that isn't the case, please, please, please run it. -
Started out pretty good, but by the end it just turned into crap.
Cant wait for this though.

The UNDEAD have chosen HD-DVD and here's why.?
by greigy just wanted to say
They like dead formats..... boom boom
-
DON'T show me the scares and surprises in a film before I go see it. Now I'm not gonna jump in my seat when I the woman goes through the window. Why ruin it?
-
and cheap. That's what it looked like...
-
But seriously, I hope he friggin starves to death after this cos the guy is such a cardboard, one-dimensional actor who's a snooze-fest to watch in any movie. Did her learn his dialogue delivery from the comedian steven wright? Still this could be quite good riffing off the old john carpenter style of story telling... and it's based on a comic which has got to be de bomb.
-
First of all that trailer was completely run of the mill. If there is one thing in it you haven't seen in at least 17 other vampire films then make your case now. Especially the bit about the vampires looking creepy. Nosferatu looks creepy, these look like grumpy versions of the non-vampire people. And it's got Josh Hartnett taking point. What in the blue hell would make you think he would all of the sudden star in something worthwhile. He makes wood look like Robin Williams. He sucks charisma out of whatever scene he is in. If maybe he could let go of his stone like squint for two fucking minutes we'd be talking. And a woman getting pulled out a window by an unseen monster while a loved one holds onto them only to slip away into the darkness? Anything that BEGINS that way loses my cash.
-
Nevermind. Disregard my previous post. An argument need not be made when it's pretty clear Harry has already decided that he's going to love a project. I always like when that happens because then I know for a fact it's going to be crap.
-
I really dug the chiaroscuro of it. My one problem is Hartnett. I don't dislike the cat, I just think he looks way way waaaaaaaaaaay too young to be believable. It's like Ben Affleck in Phantoms all over again.
And really odd choice of music (Muse's Apocalypse Please) which would've fit a lot better if they hadn't cut the lyrics. Especially, "Cuz it's the end, yes, this is the end...of the world" would've really highlighted the apocalyptical feel of the trailer more, me thinks. -
Perfect movie for Haloween season.
-
...with Vampires?
-
Don't know anything about this, but this trailer has piqued my interest, mildly. One thing though, I really wish directors would stop making every night scene look blue, or (as in LOTR) every sunny day look yellow. Oh! For natural colours. Oh! For the days of Mr. Kubrick and Mr. Leone. Oh well...
-
but this looks allright. I like vampires but there are few worthwile films about them. But i thought the graphic novel was more about the vampires doing their ultraviolence then about the people fighting them, or am i mistaken ?
-
As that low budget flick *frostbite*
Not sure the director of hard candy , showed any real skills for a comic book adaptation either -
This looks awesome...For once a horror movies that doesn't seem to be aimed at 10 year old girls
-
Count me in.
-
I'm soooooo there. It makes me want to watch "The Thing".
By the way, Ed Templesmith is the stuff. Pairing him with Wareen Ellis was genius. -
I am so freaking tired of the beautiful, tragic, romance novel vampire models of the last few years. Fucking Anne Rice and her clones.
Way to bring back the terror! -
doesn't look like anything from a ride to me. It's too realistic, and not plasticy like a ride would be. Hmmmm....
-
I'm on board for this one. Teaser looked solid.
-
But it could just be a very well edited trailer. I thought the comic book was good but it didn't have a lot to it. I'll be curious to read some reviews. "Hard Candy" was a fine film though.
-
i.e. still reading it (Eben & Stella). This looks great to me, but I am biased for the material and the director. I don't hate Josh Hartnett either like so many seem to. Oh, and Hard Candy "rocked my face off". That flick was insanely intense and effective to me. Loved the vengeance aspect. frg10 - Children of Men will never be appreciated on the level it should be. I consider that film to be one of my top ten favorites of all time. Seriously. That movie was brilliant and few took notice.
-
If there's such a thing as a charisma vacuum, he's got, like, four of them.
-
See, a movie can be built around scares instead of gore. Hopefully Roth takes note...or just goes away. By the way, anyone read the USA Today review of Hostel II? Hilarious!
-
Please please please be as good as you look. First decent film from Sam Raimi's Ghost House thingie?
-
Please give Spiderman 4 to David Slade. Have him 're-imagine' it and use Venom better. Scarier. "We want to eat you r brains Parker!" type of movie. Thanks.
-
wow! the really nailed the "spirit" and tone of the novels.. bad ass..and hey..ill take hartnett in a flick about vamps., this style of movie may suit him better than the shite hes been in before..and yes.."the Thing" vibe this clip gives off is fantastic..see big willy?..this is how you make a vamp book into a vamp movie..fuckin i am legend my ass....
-
Hell, Yeah! Phantoms like a motherfucker!
-
Will Smith. That's what this movie needs.
-
Don't knock Phantoms - it did star the lovely Rose McGowan. ;)
-
I'm at work and I can't ever get this site to work from here.. anyone know of somewhere else I can see it?
-
Yeah, you can't view it from outside America either. Anyone have another link?
-
The fight is on between this and I Am Legend. Looks really good.
-
The one written by Craig Wilson's partner, Jack? Haha! Faggot!
-
Josh Hartnett - bad, Danny Huston - good, Steve Niles - good, Stuart Beattie - good (usually), David Slade - good, Melissa George - bordering on good, Ben Foster & Mark Boone jr - could go either way. I'm willing to give this one a shot, though overcoming the woodeness of Hartnett is still this film's greatest challenge. On the upside maybe someone will break him in half and use him to stake one of the vampires with...I'd buy that for a dollar.
-
Does the human brain running out of original ideas?
-
I went to the screening in Torrence on Wednesday. This movie is a cross between The Thing and Near Dark. Very violent vampire flick. Someone posted above that the movie had some problems and I agree with that assessment. Characters would come and go, leave you wondering what had become of them. One character in particular is in the film and then BAM! She met her demise off screen and she becomes an afterthought, a discarded piece of expositionary dialogue.
The vampires are ripped straight from the source material. Very feral looking with pitch black eyes and rows of razor sharp teeth. These aren't your polite, elegant Anne Rice homoerotic vampires who practically ask to feed from you, they are animals. Animals that don't give a shit if they spill a little blood. Animals typically devour everything and these vampires take a page from that.
I read someone complain about Hartnett earlier and have to say outside of Ben Foster, Hartnett did quite well. Granted he isn't a full blooded Inuit but for all intents and purposes, he is Eben.
Speaking of Ben Foster, his character seemed to resonate with the audience. He is the Renfield of the piece. He is the first to appear in the film. His character trudging through the starkness of Alaska, surrounded by nothing sets the tone and mood of the film instantly. With his arrival, the film takes off.
Also, this is the first rough cut I have ever seen where the tone is constant and the pacing is perfect. Ten minutes into the film and it goes, it just fucking goes.
Cinematography is uniformly excellent. The first horror film in quite some time to have cinematography so brilliantly realized.
And David Slade, he is the perfect choice for the film. This isn't a vampire piece you've seen before. The blood spills quick and the scares come quicker. He has crafted one of the best vampire flicks in years and singlehandledly made the best Ghost House Picture release yet.
You all will love this flick. Echoes of The Thing, Near Dark, & Salem's Lot. -
But this could be okay. It does give off a Thing vibe, which I'm digging. I have less problem with Hartnet than a lot of others here. I'd never really liked him until Lucky Number Slevin, but I thought he did a good job in that film - just don't ask me why, I can barely remember it.
-
30 days of night is a well done visually stiulating original comic. It's a great read. The only issue is, print can never be as scary as movies. Don't horseshit me - they can't. That said, if this movie is done right, the ideas presented in the graphic novel could be possibly better portrayed. Judging from this trailer, this may be better than the book. Which is a rare thing. But it happens.
-
Looks good, but is anyone else tired of the "periphreal character whose only purpose is to spout cryptic dialog" found in a lot of movies?"That's evil comin'..."Come on.
-
I always knew the potential was there, as it's just one of those classic simple, but oh so clever, concepts, ie vampires in a land where the sun don't come back up again for a month. There's just so much play there, so much room for tension and suspense and that thing all too frequently missing these days, genuine atmosphere. And mix in some Assault On Precinct 13 type siege odds, the death bringing and isolating weather itself, ala The Thing, and the feral band of brutally savage wandering vampires, ala Near Dark, and the ingredients are just lined up for someone to take full advantage and give us something truly cool. Anf thankfully, that looks to be the case here, and it looks great, so I'm actively looking forward to this even more so now that I've had my first glimpse of what they managed to put together.
-
What the hell are you talking about? Every article I ever read about Road to Perdition talked about it being adapted from a comic book. I read articles about how the Graphic Novel got optioned, how they changed it, I even saw articles that included frames of the comic. In fact, you know how I found out about The Road to Perdition graphic novel? From the press surrounding the movie. I know that makes me a bad geek, but it is true. How exactly was the studio "hiding" the fact that it was based on a comic book... um, excuse me GRAPHIC NOVEL - when all the press at the time was mentioning it?
-
monsters to be feared rather than existential, whiny, goth crybabies.Fuck Anne Rice and her herd of pathetic imitators.Even George Hamilton pwns Lestat!
-
This looks fun.
-
Loved the graphic novel and think whoever made this did too. Great news! (Also, Mellissa George gets tastier looking all the time.)
-
Yeah, baby. Keep bending over Harry. Cause Eli loves tapping that ass!
-
no idea about comic book but this movie loox very cool. The vibe, the mood, the people, the angles, the lot. Not expecting The Thing from it, but definitly a highlight of the year so far.
-
now this fucking awesomeness. we've got an awesome year of films to look forward too. Oh,by the way some friends of mine went and seen Hostel 2, they left twenty minutes in and got there money back. They said it sucked ass pacing and story wise. Fuck it, i wouldn't have watched it anyways.
-
Just to add that.
-
Great trailer. No cheese vibe at all did I get from that so that's a plus. Does not look like hollywood garbage. BTW, I loved Hard Candy.
-

-
though suffered from being a bit repetitive,so I hope they overcome that in the film.
Check out Frostbiten for a similar premise and some great looking vampires.
P.s-Did we REALLY have to have Hostel Pt 2 mentioned at the start of this story??? -
good stuff!! the price of admission was worth it just for those last 2 minutes of the film!
-
Maybe he meant History of Violence. They sure did cover that one up thinking it'd hurt Oscar chances.
-
Just to let you know.
-
Hard Candy was amazingly uncomfortable to watch, so I'll hold out a little hope for this - but I have to say, I am really sick of zombie, vampire, and serial killer movies. As much as I hate PG13 horror, 1408 has to be the one horror movie on my radar I actually give rats ass about. We need some more ghost/demon/monster movies. Old school horror. Zombies and vampires just aren't scary any more.
-
Eli Roth's "RIDE" was that fake too?
-
he was affable, fun and generally a cool geek. then things started to, well, get to his head, once 30 Days heated up. Diva mode set in. he said he would be the only one to write the script. i read his first draft. it was awful. i think 30 days of night is a good, simple idea - vampires who have 30 nights to wreak havok. but thats it. one-note idea. his other comic books and graphic novels, which i'd have advance access to, all sucked. monsters - thats it. also, 30 days worked, lets be honest, b/c of the artwork. anyways, i'll probably see this, but lets put the stve niles thing in perspective a bit.
-
You'll see 40 Days and 40 Nights near 30 Days of Night and some will wonder if the fact Harnett is in both means that there possibly connected, or maybe not.
-
Why didn't they just leave it up with an update that said it's fake? I'm not one for liberally revising history just to cover up mistakes, if not for the fact some people take the time to talk about it i.e. the TB.
-
and it lasted for 30 days? Also, it looks more like Precinct 13/The Thing to me. Except with bloodsuckers.
-
I was getting sick of those stupid making of featurettes. I feel like that's been going on for a year, how long does it take to actually get some footage for a trailer!
-
Which is why people got their noses out of joint in his "Harry has chosen HD-DVD here's why" thread (he quietly corrected a huge mistake but initially said nothing and then later offered a disingenuous apology). Well that and the stupidity of choosing one format for ill-informed reasons when he hasn't even compared the two to start with. And this guy says he likes and appreciates films (but bases his next gen decision on saving a few bucks, not the quality of the competing formats first). We're all human, but geez.
-
Still, too bad about Hartnett but the source material is pretty sweet so it should at least be watchable.
-
the last role I really liked Hartnett in was "The Faculty". Like 10 years ago. Ever since then I keep hoping I'll enjoy him in a movie, but ehhhh... Anyway, this looks fun. I likes me some vampires. Like the setting too. And the Muse at the end might have just sold it for me. Let's hope at least they kill him off in the last 20 minutes. It's only fair, a penance for the audience. =D
-
But the atmosphere is just too cool for me to pass up.
-
Holy hell this looks good. Count me in!
-
'Echoes of The Thing, Near Dark, & Salem's Lot ' - Fucking magic mate. My 3 favourites. Nice one. Strong trailer, too.
-
more in line of John Carpenter's Vampires...where vampires are portrayed as nasty, meanass animals rather than eurotrash fashion victims
-
I will avoid this movie like the plague.
-
even though I'm a huge comic geek.
But that trailer is awesome. Looks like it has an Aliens vibe... unlike 28WL which did NOT have an Aliens vibe at all!
I'll go see that. -
Because the "early numbers" just came in NOW, and Hostel II's are doing juuuust fine.
-
Cause it is so fooking cold there their plasma screens freeze up.
-
Yeah, sure, he had a few shitty roles where he placed a pretty face rather than an actual role. But, lately he has been picking good roles that he cares about. It is obvious that he did those other movies so he could have the power to act in the movies he wants to play. Shit, I would have starred in Halloween H20 if it meant I could someday do Sin City, or The Rum Diaries, or Lucky Number Slevin, The Prince of Cool.....hell, even Hollywood Homicide.
-
Well not being able to act probably has something to do with it. The guy is the epitome of wooden. Give me a performance where he drops his laughably non-threatening, faux intense, worst James Dean impression ever routine. It doesn't exist. And The Black Dahlia was in the top 5 worst films of last year without question.

Looks like a pretty damned good horror flick...
by film_fanatic_in_the_original_black_and_w
Haven't seen a good vampire movie in a while. This is what I Am Legend should resemble. Too bad it's been Williestyled.
-
...he isn't.There was a New Twilight Zone (Hell, may have been Monsters or Tales From The Darkside) that centered on a Russian prison and the near by town that was invaded by vampires when it entered its '30 days of night'. Though, I think it was closer to 60+ days for them. Then there was an episode of the new Outer Limits that told the story of two guys trapped in a missile silo after a nuclear war. In the darkness of a nuclear winter, they see survivors outside their silo and one of them is the wife of one of the two officers. He leaves the silo and is sucked dry by his wife and the group of vampires who turned her. Their leader is a little upset that the officer was drained to death since the other officer has now locked himself in the silo and they do not have the passcode. Settling themselves in, they tell the surviving officer to not worry. They have all the time in the world to figure out the code to get in. Then...they start punching buttons. 1111. 1112. 1113. 1115...and so on. His previous work was all crap. His new work is all crap. Hey look! It's a dude that is the last line of defense against the forces of darkness! He has a monster pal and a disbelieving (yet believing) cop on his side! The main character is also cranky, a wise ass, a boozer, a ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz... DAMN! Talk about TIRED.Seriously. Steve Niles sucks literary ass. Anyone who thinks this guy is a brilliant writer is: A) Under 15. B) May be a Lotney 'Sloth' Fratelli level of retarded. C) Have never watched TV, seen a movie, or read a book since the dawn of time... Just like the Hollywood producers that buy the film rights of retreaded ideas other producers had years ago. Here's hoping the film is good, though the 'X-Files blue' filter is over played. We get it. It's cold. Brrrr.
-
Try Mozart and the Whale.
-
...He seems like a nice guy, and he's obviously got taste in who he works with and what he works on, the problem is though, the boy can't act. And I'm not talking "his acting ability is limited" like, say, Keanu Reeves, who while not the greatest actor on earth at least has the ability to work well if cast in the right kind of role, and whose charisma often helps get him over some (though not all) of his acting bumpy patches. No, Hartnett may be good looking in typical hollywood pretty boy fashion, but that's all he has going for him. He has no screen charisma, no presence whatsoever, and the dude is just flat and wooden and dull and lifeless in everything I've seen him in. It's not fair, but there it is.
-
Not a major Hartnett fan to say the least, he was a bad choice for Eben and I'm not wild about George for Stella. They are both competant to good actors though so they could pull it off and surprise us cynics. However it seems they are really trying to catch the feel and look of the books which is a good thing, plus I like the pick of actor for Ikos. Overall I have a good feeling for this after the trailer, roll on the release date.
-
But I remember reading that book at Funny Papers shop in Austin in one sitting and thought it was one of the freshest most original vampire stories I had ever read! So even thought the trailer wasnt spectacular I think this movie will be badass. I hope it has a low key drama feel like Insomnia which will only add to the realism of the story!
-
I have faith in Stuart Beattie. If anyone could pull a good movie out of that comic it's him (and maybe William Monahan).
It is a good setup. I didn't know it had been done on the Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits.
Again I do have faith that this will be a very good movie purely because Stuart Beattie knows his stuff. -
That looks good. It's about time the Vampires gave the Zombies a run for their money. Wait, that just gave me an idea. Vampires v. Zombies. Get Akiva Goldsman on the line, I hear he's a great screenwriter.
-
The Twighlight Zone ep sounds cool and that Outer Limits one even better (though obviously we don't need to see it now). But you said they skipped 1114! What if that was IT?! ;)
I know we've only seen the trailer but it seems the blue and yellow duotone thing is more of a nod to the art in which Templesmith seems to follow the get-out-of-jail-free technique shared by Ashley Wood (hmmm wonder why) of sticking a colour wash or tone over so people don't realise you're essentially painting in black and white and can get more pages out the door. Their other favoured technique being backgrounds are boring and you only have to suggest 'em. That speeds things up too, and you can write it off as 'moody'. Yeah I've got a bug up my arse. Trading on a new generation too lazy or ignorant of the superior guys like McKean, Sienkewicz, Williams, Foster, Storey, Hale and so on that they're STILL ripping off without developing a personal style. But making buckets of money for it (and for tactlessly publishing some of those guys too through IDG -wtf?). More's the pity, they CAN draw though. Yeah I guess I'm just jealous they've figured it all out. Still doesn't make it right. Grrr. -
I dunno, Vampires vs Werewolves sure didn't work very well.
The one I'm hanging out for is 'Fido'. Now THAT looks cool. And social commentary too! -
german zombies. yeah. that would be sweet.
-
Looks cold and bloody and violent. Nice. Maybe I'll actually like this horror movie. Generally I hate wimpy, Anne Rice-ish vampires because I think Anne herself just wants to have sex with them. Fucking boring Goth-chick bullshit.
Feral, utterly inhuman vampires are the only bloodsuckers who really scare people. Others here have mentioned "Nosferatu" and "Salem's Lot" as examples of truly scary vamps, and I tend to agree. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" showed off some fairly scary vampires, especially demonic Angel, but none were get-under-your-skin creepy.
I like the icy, gory look of this film. I'll probably check it out. -
You mentioned that the graphic novel was poorly paced and that the events appeared to take place over the span of a few days as opposed to an entire month. These are the exact same problems that the movie suffers from, at least in the rough state that we saw it in. Characters seem to move from place to place within the town with such urgency that you'd never guess they were actually spending days at a time in certain locations until someone mentions "one more day until sunrise," which sort of took me by surprise. The only physical marker that we have of actual time progressing is Josh Hartnett's facial hair, which never quite develops into a full beard but certainly gets scragglier by the end of the movie. I suppose this could be fixed if they had a title card or something pop up every now and then letting the audience know how many days into the month have passed. Just a thought.
By the way, I think the show that Negative Man was talking about with the vampires trying to get to that lone survivor in the fortified bunker was called "The Waiting Game" and it was from an episode of MONSTERS, a horror/sci-fi series that aired in the late '80s. I still have that episode (and a season or two of the actual show) on VHS. Good times.
-
Looks like a nitro injected version of "Frostbiten"; http://www.frostbiten.se/trailer/trailer_qthi_e.htm
-
period
-
as I said before, I don't give a rip about them. but none of you can argue that trailer doesn't LOOK good...literally speaking...I will go see a movie that may be shit, jsut for beautiful cinematography. how about you guys?oh, and I just got an HVX200, so you can all suck it hard and enjoy the flavor!
-
Hope it's as good as the first one, which was a pretty good cultural barometer, and also timesaver - if you meet someone at a party who makes a big point about how they didn't like it, you immediately know enough keep right on moving. Life is too short for such people.
-
Roth has already said HOSTEL 2 is the last one. That's not to say LionsGate might not try milking the franchise without him though.
-
I've always had a fair bit of respect for the guy, ever since I saw maybe my top guilty-pleasure movie ever, the brilliant THE FACULTY. In my opinion, he was great in "O", in which he played the Iago character. And the next thing I saw him in was 40 Days and 40 Nights, which I thought was pretty hilarious, and had none of that wooden-intensity you guys are talking about. He can fall into that sometimes (Dahlia), but he knows how to pick films (he turned down Ratner's Superman), so I'm willing to stick with the guy.

When's it coming out? Billy Connoly pwns your arses. And eats your brains.

I loved the idea of arctic vampires when I saw it on Tales From The Crypt in 1995 (ep 6.13).
Personally, I'd much rather see a movie about a werewolf orphan who eats his vampire foster parents--too bad the graphic novelist didn't borrow that episode's concept. -
I picked the trade up at a comic convention after hearing people rave about it, and about Steve Niles, and about how awesome the movie was going to be. I hope the screenwriters did a good job of filling in gaps, because the comic was barely even a skeleton of a story. It was an interesting concept, executed with cardboard characters, horrendously bad dialogue, and almost non-existent plotting (including a subplot with **SPOILER** some professional vampire hunters that never even takes off). And, if all this wasn't bad enough, the artwork fucking blew. The majority of the artwork was completely undiscernable. And, 'Criminal Macabre' isn't any better. It's just pack of detective movie cliches and bad dialogue that happens to have monsters in it. Niles would do well to seriously work on his writing, particularly since it looks like he's got a new book out almost every day. Maybe if he focused on one story for a change, his stuff wouldn't be such absolute crap.

I just read your post. I knew he was a hack, but I didn't know about the Twilight Zone and Outer Limits swipes. Now I hate this guy even more.

It has a kickstand. It is sitting alone in front of a garage. Have any of you ever been on a ride before? Can you see your grandmother climbing on this and hunching over the handlebars? Where would you install safety harnesses on this baby? Why does it need real tires if it is a ride on a track? or suspended on a rail?

I get the feeling the Taliban have taken over this site

Think about it: trying to get us to see Hotel II where Americans get tortured? Trying to get us to worship Viggo's Balls instead of God? Trying to trick our grandmothers into hopping onto the most powerful motorbike ever created?

That way I can be all cocky and rude without hurting anyone's feelings.

You can see that I don't have 7000 MySpace friends.
In fact, my 7000 friends all died trying to ride the Bat Bike thinking it was an amusement park ride. Sad, really. -
That was naughty. I shouldn't have typed that.
