Bond director, Martin Campbell, is UNSTOPPABLE!!

Published at:  Jun 07, 2007 10:50:29 PM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I actually kind of like the sound of this project, called UNSTOPPABLE. It's a runaway train movie about an engineer and a conductor that speed to meet the out of control train running on a separate track. It's a ticking clock movie. They need to get to the train before it hits a curve and derails, spilling it's load of toxic chemicals.

Martin Campbell (GOLDENEYE and CASINO ROYALE) is directing for 20th Century Fox. LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD's screenwriter, Mark Bomback, is scripting.

Sounds fun as it is, but... maybe it's just me, but if this was a period movie, something set in the depression or something, I think this would really get me excited. I don't know what the hell could be dumped to cause such a panic in a period movie... and maybe it's just my love of EMPEROR OF THE NORTH POLE clouding my judgment... What do you folks think?

    Suicide Mission?

    by thisisthecaptainspeaking

What if the question here is whether you would board a train to pre-emptively (sp?) detonate a bomb (nuclear or otherwise) to stop terrorists from killing whole cities, even though you (Mr. Good Guy) would kill everyone on the train, including yourself, in the process?

    by cinemajerk

Gimme a break. Why even greenlight this project unless its being shot for the sci fi channel.

I GUARANTEE this will lose money at the box office. I don't care WHO is directing or WHO is staring in it.

Runaway train movies are SO cliche.

Everything that could be done on a train HAS been done on a train. BORING.

I think Rob Lowe's ATOMIC TRAIN was the moment when runaway train movies jumped the shark.

CASINO ROYALE was my favorite flick of 2006 and GOLDENEYE is right up there on the top Bond flicks as well. While I felt LEGEND OF ZORRO was a bit flat at times (the swordfights ruled, though), THE MASK OF ZORRO is a really great movie.

and Camus would be proud of the existencialism on display troughout. Everything rules in this movie. Its Voight who looses hand/fingers. The most insane thing of all is that it was produced by Golan-Globus, who did nothing even remotely meaninfull or of that leve ever. It redeems their whole company.I am fuckin` tired of horrible news where I can only post complaints and such. I WANT GOOD NEWS SO I CAN POST POSITIVE POSTS!!! Im am not Ranken!!! The pitch at Fox...

    by spacesheik

"Listen, we have a script, a slambang actioner, a cross between CASSANDRA CROSSING, but without the bubonic plague, SILVER STREAK, without the comedy and NARROW MARGIN, but without the female hitlady, with some Seagal love, UNDER SEIGE II thrown in, and some of the manic brutality and edge of RUNAWAY TRAIN, without the convicts, and EMPEROR OF THE NORTH POLE, minus the period Depression setting and Ernest Borgnine's hammer. It's called UNSTOPPABLE"

That's assuming that the idiot Fox business school executives understood the movie references...
