Ridley Scott’s AMERICAN GANGSTER Trailer Online Now! Denzel! Crowe! Let The Badassery Commence!

Published at:  Jun 07, 2007 4:20:50 PM CDT

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

Oh, boy. This is one gorgeous trailer. I love movies where you take two heavyweight actors and just throw them up against each other. This is a great story, and with Ridley Scott working at the peak of his visual storytelling powers, this might be one of this fall’s most explosive pictures. I’ve heard some amazing things from people close to the production, and this trailer backs all of that up. Fingers crossed. I’d love for this one to be a home run.

Hi Drew – Yahoo! Movies has the first look at Ridley Scott’s, “American Gangster.” Starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, this looks like Scott and Crowe are trying as hard as they possibly can to forget about “A Good Year.”

Check it out here as a stream or in beautiful HD:

    It's Never Been A Race

    by therealmoriarty

If it's really so important to you that you see the trailer the split second it's on line, it's obvious that those of you complaining were already able to. Nobody stopped you. It's never been about making sure we had it before anyone else. It's just a link. The point is that it's worth seeing, and there are plenty of people who don't sit there obsessively refreshing the trailer menu at Yahoo who will now be able to go check it out.

An eight hour difference isn't the end of the world. Stop acting like some crime was committed. It's just asinine.

    by versatol

That "pimptastic" song was Jay-Z's excellent Blueprint album. It was produced by Kanye West back in 2001 and sampled an old Bobby Blu Bland. You're right: It would make a great "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" hero theme song

    "American Accountant"

    by copontheedge

When will that movie come out? After "American Lab Rat," I suppose. Or "An American Famiglia," that would be the tale of an Italian-American family, based on a true story, of course. Oh, wait what about "American Taliban," the John Walker story? Can't wait for that one. In case my sarcasm is not clear, I hate the MASSIVE, WATERED-DOWN CLICHE of putting AMERICAN in the title of a movie and I can't help but wonder if this is one of the many reasons the rest of the world hates us. The hubris, you see. I predict this movie will bomb like Cinderella Man, not because of the title (although C.M. was an even worse title), but because it no doubt has been watered down for the masses like that film. I hope not, because Zaillian can write when he wants to, but it probably will suck. Sorry to be a hater, but this just really looks to be an example of great trailer with potentially sucky movie. And I don't believe that Grazer and Ridley Scott can do something truly edgy anymore, sorry.

There Mori--I even commented about the film! BEAT THAT!Finally, the story you crazies IS about an american gangster. I love the title. its better than black gangster isn't it? its not divisive, it makes its point, its a story about a black guy who makes more money than the italians in the mafia AND he's american. hence: AMERICAN gangster.as for your silly guys who think the world hates america-they owe their current existence to america and america alone. in 200 years or more people will remember the post ww2 era as the pax americana for a reason. and all this america-bashing will be an embarassment people hardly even speak of.Oh, and one more thing, if you hate america so much AND you think everyone else does, please move. that is all.

Looks like it could definitely be worthwhile. And I think it's high time that Ridley Scott got back in the saddle of making a smaller scale drama instead of another sweeping epic. I'd really like to see him pick up some steam and knock one out of the park. And if he really is going to direct "Blood Meridian" he's going to need all his chops. The cast looks great, Ridley Scott directing. Forget about race... it's all about two philosophies, which ironically America is both based on and founded by, clashing it out once again on the big screen. Just like The Departed, Scarface, Godfather and Goodfellas, etc. I've just never seen a GOOD black mob film before. Hopefully this'll be the first. Now i'm getting too deep for talkbacks. Denzel Washington is a good actor

    by magic rat

for a guy who essentially plays the same role in every film, just flip good guy for bad guy. I think he's fallen into the Tom Cruise world of playing himself in every role. He's still enjoyable to watch though, even if you never forget your watching Denzel Washington. For my money, I think Jamie Fox is a better actor with more range if you're looking for a black leading man.

Ridley Scott + Russell Crow +Denzel Washington

    by chitownsbest

Equals a damn good movie. This won't be Viruosity II. That trailer looked pretty damn good. The best part to me was that it looks like they didn't water Denzel's character down like I thought they would. Looks like a good crime flick and I love good crime movies.

ha ha ha ahah aaha ha haahah aha ah.man....good stuff...have you ever seen "sex, lies and videotape?" no filters there, jsut amazing writing and direction. it sort of, you know, won a bunch of awards? pal d'or at cannes, bafta, golden globe...universal praise from virtually every critic? THE FUCKER EVEN HAS A GRAMMY! Schizopolis, Out of Sight, Solaris? Bubble, the man is the most versatile director out there. he champions interesting projects, he promotes alternative means of distribution than major studios/production companies, some of the best soundtrack work in ages, he's multi-talented, he has almost zero hollywood bullshit (full frontal, for example, he got dozens of big stars to appear for next to nothing, and without even trailers etc. all by his example).for american directors, he is the closest thing we have to the maverick european directors of the 60's.it is beyond ridiculous to call him a hack. and I Stand by my statement that I think you're just itching for some attention. I've seen you talkback before and I can't believe you're that slow. at least you didn't before.

Let me guess... somebody whispered "Black Scarface" into Diddley's ear and he shit his pants. If I was a dumbass rapper I'd be dying to see this.

Well, I am not a "dumb ass rapper"........

    by jimmy jazz

I hate rap with the fury of a thousand suns. And I can't wait to see this. BTW, the 1980 version of Scarface is highly overrated. Overlong, pointless and repetitive. Carlito's Way was a MUCH better movie.

Saw it before any of you asswipes

    by jumpinjehosaphat

It was in Telecine at Fotokem, and I saw them working on it. You all are lame because you didn't see it before me. I however, am lame because I didn't see it before the online editor, who, in turn, is lame because he didn't see it before the offline editor. Guess what? The offline editor is lame because he didn't shoot the footage. Luckily, I just thought of a cool movie. I'm seeing it right now in my head, and none of you other fucktards can see it yet. This make you all Teh Ghey.

/I hate every single last one of you horrid sacks of shit.
