Neil Jordan! Jodie Foster! Terrence Howard! THE BRAVE ONE Trailer Online Now!
I’m a little slow getting this up because I’ve spent the last sixteen hours trying to make sense of my notes from the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA event in Hollywood, but this is a fascinating trailer from Neil Jordan. I’ve always liked this guy as a filmmaker, and the older the gets, the less I think I know who he is as a director. He seems to be one of the few people who can just skip from genre to genre, style to style, and never make it feel like an affectation. He’s an old-school director. You give him a good piece of material, and he’ll make it work. I’m dying to know what he’s going to do with THE COLLECTOR when he tackles it, but for now, it looks like he’s riffing off DEATH WISH.

Who's tired of Terrence Howard already? This guy.
-
OMG IM A NUMBER
-
AWESOME! Like a female Falling Down, or an urban Straw Dogs. Can't wait. Love the music at the end of the trailer.
-
I wonder if the talkbackers can make something out of that catchphrase...
-
But I wonder how much they've given away in the trailer. It seems as if you see how the entire movie plays out. Then again, maybe it doesn't. Looks good.
-
its ok dude we all wish we could be you, sitting there, slowly bleaching out your skin with the cold, lonely glow of the computer moniter.
-
...does not suit her at all. She looks like shit in this movie

Having problems in life? Get a Gun! Shoot your problems
by lour reed luvs frank zappa
That's what this movie seems to say.
-
If you were referring to last night's shindig. And Olmos is the man. His speech about the continuation of the Blade Runner Philip K. Dick themes was so right on. That's why BSG will stand the test of time!!!
-
all it took was for a chick to play Frank Castle. Way to be Ari Avad.
-
Avi Arad... what did I say?!
-
Its on the Miami Vice OST, but if you like it go get any of their albums.
-
"I want my dog back." ? Yikes.
-
I'm curious about that BSG-event report. What did Olmos say about Ford and Blade Runner's BO? That trailer seemed a bit long and a little too informative.
-
... yeah. Great evening. Herc's article (with contributions from me) should be up any minute now.
-
"I want my dog back... BITCH!"
-
...this movie would be shite. But given the caliber of creative forces on this one, color me excited. Jodie is always best when she plays someone pushed to extremes. Very surprised that this is a Neil Jordan movie.
-
This movie is going to actually be closer to the character of Frank Castle from the comics than Marvels The Punisher movie was.
-
they didn't kill the dog! :P
-
man, i was actually digging this trailer until that line came. i'm confused now - did they kill her signif. other, or just her dog? or did one set of thugs kill her hubby and another her dog and she's spiraling downward killing everyone who's ever wronged her? knock kncok "pizza delivery!!!" "you're fifteen minutes late...i want my money back." BLAM BLAM
-
"Get off my plane!" After "Flightplan" and this, it looks like Foster needs a new agent.
-
I swear to Michael Bay thre is a Transformer sound bite in there...... dont tell me yall didnt hear it!!!!
-
Or Death Wish... Neil Jordan is good but this trailer didn't do much for me...
-
They filmed some of this movie on my block, and all I have to say is Naveen Andrews is a stand up guy. Spent a good 5-10 minutes chatting with him while he was on a break, mostly about Planet Terror, which he had just wrapped filming on at the time. No ego at all. As for the movie, I'm actually a bit surprised. From the onset talk, it seemed like Foster wasn't gonna be going this vigilante. An improvement IMO
-
justified in shooting a guy in the face if he's waving a knife in your face and robbing you? That's the only thing that bothered me about the whole trailer.
-
Because it's easier to bark "BROO RAY," than it is to say HD-DVD
-
this movie.
-
Doesn't have the same emphasis.
-
"Aren't you completely
justified in shooting a guy in the face if he's waving a knife in your face and robbing you? That's the only thing that bothered me about the whole trailer."
In my great state of Massachusetts you have to use every advantage at your disposal not to fire your weapon. Meaning if you can escape instead of useingforce and you still choose to fire your gun you can be brought up on charges. Now that is a loose interpretation of the law, but i have friends who are business owners and gun owners and if someone robbed their store they would not be justified in shooting the assailant unless he first took shots at them.
I am almost as liberal as they come, but thats just asinine IMO!
As for the movie i think it looks great, pushed to the brink and deciding to push back, yeah for female empowerment with a BANG!
Jodie gets butch baby.
-
... if he were a television series and he got canceled; I'd cry.
-
She's finishing up what Travis Bickle started. Taxi Driver 2: the Brave One.
-
Jody's got a gun.
-
Where's Charles Bronson when you need him? RIP, Old Man.

I like both Neil Jordan and Jodie Foster, but I'm getting a "tame Death Wish" vibe from this one. I hope I'm wrong though. Also, isn't Jordan directing "A Killing On Carnival Row" next for New Line now that Guillermo Del Toro is off the project.
-
And unrealistic as hell. I have not had to pull out my piece to blow away any baddies in Central Park in DAYS! She's not brave; she's packing. Brave is seeing BUG having read no reviews.
-
Um, didn't your husband/partner get killed too? She's probably glad as it gives her free reign to munch on as much carpet as she wants.
-
This dog has a good agent...
Will has Jodie's dog in the tub rub a dub dub
check the trailer for I am legend -
I know it's difficult for people trained to respond to catchphrases, but did you guys really not get the dog thing? That was her dog the guy had in his yard. The dog that (I would guess) has been missing since the night her husband was killed. She appears to be taking it as proof that this guy was involved in the event.
As for the trailer, I think it looks great, and I got the impression that it was a more complicated/ambivalent look at vigilante justice than the Bronson-fest you guys seemed to think it was. Then again, Mogwai can make me like almost anything. Who knows, we might actually have to wait and see the movie. -
Even the "Original" movies are remakes. That trailer looked almost exactly like the original Death Wish. What the hell is going on!!!!!
-
Was just about to post that Elohim, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who got that line.
-
I was totally not expecting that to be so goddamn awesome. Ticket sold.
-
It is surprisingly good, death wish similarites and farily brutal in parts, worth seeing though
