SHOOT EM UP unloads its Teaser online!
Hey folks, Harry here... Ever since I saw the animated storyboards for SHOOT EM UP, I've been dying to see the film. It plays out like some sort of HARD BOILED on steroids type of crazed manic... well... shoot em up. Then when the cast came in of Clive Owens and Paul Giamatti... well sign me up. That said, it has been a long time in coming - and well - we finally have the trailer to take a look at. Here ya go - here's our first look... and from where I'm sitting, it looks friggin great!

It was supposed to open with a gunfight while he delivered the child of some random lady, and then she died and he gave the baby to Monica to take care of. Did they change that? Motherfuckers, that setup was why I was excited.

This is what an awesome popcorn style action flick is made of. Why and the fuck isn't this director taking the Punhisher2 to the big screen? I'm officaly counting the days until I can see that movie in all it's bloody fun glory. Damn!!! I just can't over all those kick ass scenes ,PG really chewing the sceneray (although I would have loved to seen my main man Walter B in that role) and Mr.Bad ass himself Clive Owen looking like Jason Bourne on an testosterone bender. Between this and the new Rambo flick I'm thinking the glory days of flicks like Deathwish ad Dirty Harry are going the way of the zombie movie, fucking awesome. Best news on this site in a loong time.

i hope this flick isn't guilty. there better be waaaaay more cool gunplay innovation. and i'm weary of the 'nigh unstoppable kickass protaganist established from the get go' who only has to deal with packs of easily defeated goons. give me more heroes that have to go against the odds with adversaries that clearly outmatch them!

There's been good buzz around this movie and that trailer just endorses it even more. Love the line: "Do we really suck or is that guy really that good?" Count me in... this could be the year's hi-light movie.

that someone finally made a good "over the top, hyper stylized, Hong Kong influenced wirework, assasin kills everyone in creative ways, dark comedy" Up til now they've all been phenomenally horrible. Smoking Aces, The Big Hit, Ecks vs. Sever, The Replacement Killers, Anything With DMX in it, the list goes on and on. This, I pray, isn't another case of great trailer, because honestly I just don't want to bother with another one of these horrible genre pics in a genre that hasn't been good since John Woo learned Engrish.

Possibly the best of the year. Though I understand they changed the beginning and ending. The end will now have an extra action sequence (fine) and the beginning will make it less random that clive is in the middle of the gunfight (blah - part of what i loved is that the film literally began in the middle of a gunfight)

The last gag made me laugh out hard, had to watch it again. I don't think their really showing all the good stuff. Most of the action stuff is Clive shooting or diving about, not a lot of unique stuff, so the best stuff will be in the full movie, I think. The trailer tries to make it look like Bellucci is the mother, but there's a few bits in it that show she's playing the hooker character. She's dressed as a nurse at one point in it, which I'm sure was something mentioned from a previous script review as her being a pro.

Both are great films in their own standing. Both are on (I can't believe I am using this phrase) "heavy rotation" in my home. The Way of the Gun is a personal favorite as is the soundtrack. Just saying. This film doesn't look to meet those standards. Too bad. But that's just me. Call me a hater if you must. How dare I have an opinion. Oh, and Don Murphy doesn't deserve to make any more money via the movie industry as long as he breathes (or should I say pants/huffs/wheezes?).

Hate to hate but I must say that based on the trailer alone "Shoot 'Em Up' looks unispired, like a very bad 'Transporter' clone. It's pretty poorly shot, rather obvious the one-liners are absolutely terrible.
Seriously, unless this was meant to be some sort of a parody, they were some of the most cliched and flat lines I've ever heard.
I'm sorry to say that despite the fact that I like Paul Giamatti and Clive Owen the movie doesn't look very promising.
Hope that I'm wrong though as story boards looked somewhat interesting and exciting. -

i saw a screening of this one night and saw Hot Fuzz the next. While I liked Hot Fuzz, i kept thinking that is was missing the funny and deliberate over the top action scenes in Shoot Em' Up. This movie has the laughs but it also had really great action too which were way to violent to show in this greenband trailer.

Regarding SHOOT 'EM UP, I have a piece going up sometime tomorrow about my time onset and in the editing room with Michael Davis earlier this week. I think Davis is the real deal, and despite what IMDb may or may not say, Murphy and Montford were onset for this one, every day, and were very hands-on. If you want to blame every little thing you hate about TRANSFORMERS on Murphy, I think you're picking a scapegoat. And I think you may be blaming the wrong person. But if you want to say he didn't produce SHOOT 'EM UP, you're just wrong. -
