Realityrama!! THE D-LIST And ON THE LOT Return Tonight!!
I am – Hercules!!
Previously. On Ain't It Cool: Coaxial News:
Talkbacker “ScOttRa” says:
"Kathy Griffin is one of the safest, undaring, unfunny standups out there... On par with Carrot-top. Why is Bill Hicks dead and these two suckers of Satan's Cock allowed to walk the earth?"
Talkbacker “Holodigm” says:
"I wouldn't put her on par with Carrot Top, though. I've actually laughed at his routines."
Talkbacker “SparrowFan” says:
"Kathy Griffin's never had a funny bone in her body, I don't how she ever survived the Suddenly Susan debacle where she so miserably failed to rip off Vicki Lewis' Beth in Newsradio. When will she 'go away'?"
Talkbacker “oisin5199” says:
"I can't believe Herc's actually trying to promote Kathy Griffin. I've never found a woman who was a more annoying, nasty, unfunny person."
Kathy Griffin makes Howard Stern howl with laughter, her series picked up an Emmy nomination last year, and she’s said to be on the short list to become the new host of “The View.”
Still, no love for Kathy in the AICN talkbacks.
Tonight she’s back on Bravo with both a stand-up special titled “Everybody Can Suck It” and the third-season premiere of her acclaimed (and now Emmy-nominated) reality series “My Life On The D-List.”
(I think she might be back on Stern’s uncensored Sirius radio show this morning as well, for those who enjoyed her pee-eliciting appearance almost exactly one year earlier.)
New subject. I got a lot of email today asking if Fox’s reality filmmaker series had already been cancelled.
The answer is “no.” The netlet was supposed to air a new hour-long edition of “On The Lot” Monday night but decided to substitute a “House” repeat at the last minute. (Maybe too many of the kids couldn’t complete their assignments on time?)
Tuesday night was originally supposed to give us a half-hour installment of “On The Lot,” but we’re getting an hourlong edition on Tuesday instead.
This means the second-season premiere of Fox’s sitcom “The Loop” has now been bumped to Sunday.
“On The Lot”: 8 p.m. Tuesday. Fox.
“Everybody Can Suck It”: 9 p.m. Tuesday. Bravo.
“My Life On The D-List”: 10 p.m. Tuesday. Bravo.

She's a hack and should be as semi-famous as she is. She has had way too much surgery trying to look like Jennifer Aniston or her ruddier less funny cousin. Ugh...Seinfeld was right about her. Though I do wish her the best in everything she does.
-
we need more of that...
-
Seinfeld loves her. she met him briefly, and thought he was a little stand-offish, and so she poked fun at him a little in her act. he saw it, and thought it was hilarious, and got her on his show.celebrities that don't buy into their own bullshit (like seinfeld) and are still real people LOVE the fact that she goes after the self-righteous a=holes in hollywood. while at the same time, acknowledging that on some level, we all want to be where they are, just not be like them.my guess is if more people didn't rush to judgment like you seem to have done, and actually watched a whole special of her stand-up, they couldn't help but laugh. she is just plain funny.I just moved to LA after film school a couple weeks ago, and I jsut turned down (yesterday) an 80,000 a year job on a reality TV show, just because I hate reality TV that much. but I watch Life on the D-List every week. it's that funny.give it a shot, trust me. (oh and I did take a job working camera for Dave Navarro's talk show though. I met Ron Jeremy and felt unclean!)
-
is liek a snowball rolling down a hill sometimes. certain celebs have that kind of persona where the straight, male, slightly nerdy, want to be accepted, think they know everything average talkbacker is going to jump on the hater bandwagon. it always happens. sometimes they deserve it, in my opinion (Michael Bay, Eli Roth), and sometimes not (Kathy Griffin, Mirajeff).but at the very least, I'm happy you gave D-List a TB. Griffin went and entertained the troops, NO ONE can accuse her of being dishonest or insincere, she donates time and money all over the place to charities, and works like a dog (insert stupid joke about how she's not hot here) in the industry. hopefully, even if poeople don't cotton to her brand of humor, they can at least show her some respect. Thanks, Herc, for the TB. even if it does smack slightly of a social experiment, lol.
-
Completely by chance I stumble into this talkback at 1am, as I work on a review. I came in to read the TB buzz on On the Lot. It's pretty empty so far (not surprising given the plummeting ratings) but I read your posts. First off, congrats on graduating. My youngest brother just graduated high school today and I feel old by comparison. Also, welcome to LA. And Mazel Tov on the job, although I think you're a little crazy to turn down an $80k a year job fresh out of school, but then again, I really hate reality TV. Then I read your next post and literally couldn't believe that out of the sky fucking blue a talkbacker actually has something nice to say. At first I read it wrong and was like, I take back all those nice things I was just thinking about Wonka, but after reading it a second time, I will rethink all those nice things, and am flattered to be lumped in with Kathy Griffin, because even though she's D-list, gosh darnit, people like her and I'm one of them. Meanwhile, as for SparrowFan, the talkbacker mentioned in the body of the article, I think that the Vicki Lewis comparison is completely lazy. I don't think Kathy Griffin ripped off Lewis' shtick because she didn't have a shtick, they just both had red hair. I agree that people make this lazy comparison all the time, but those are the same people who either a) don't know the difference from bill paxton and bill pullman or b) don't know the difference between mary louise parker, penelope ann miller and mary stuart masterson, and really, are we supposed to tolerate those people and their utter ignorance of pop culture? Why can't Vicki Lewis and Kathy Griffin both be funny? Why does there always have to be a better and a worse? That's a rhetorical question, but to fall into the trap you've set for me in this Griffin/Lewis debate, it doesn't matter what letter list of celebrity Kathy Griffin is on, the fact remains that although Suddenly Susan was clearly inferior to News Radio, Vickie Lewis was never in Pulp Fiction, and that is just one reason why Griffin will always have the upper hand. I don't really watch Life on the D-List because guess what, the D-List doesn't make for great TV, but I'll throw my two cents in when it comes down to defending people who can take the piss out of themselves and don't deserve to be unfairly bashed by SparrowFan, who I ask to come forth and explain his misguided critique in a public discourse. Someone call Klosterman to referee this thing. And Wonka, shoot me an email. I wanna hear about Navarro's shenanigans.
-
thanks for the kind words. I'll send you an e-mail with some more specific stuff, since I don't want to lose this job a week after I got it. ;o) actually the show is fun, and Navarro is actually a really nice guy. very much a rock star, but he's extremely gracious, and if you look on this latest show, and see the guest that he gave the final spot to, you'll be amazed. he really does use his celebrity to meet cool people he wants to. which I think we all would do, if given the chance.and mirajeff, I'll tell you the reality TV job I turned down, and you won't think it was a bad choice, trust me....
-
You are usually the go-to man for all things TV, but apparently you're not up on your news:On the Lot has been condensed to one hour-long episode a week. they are said to be somehow absorbing the results into the same night as the film screenings. Just do a google or yahoo search in News for on the lot, and you can find all the details...
-
I've been a pretty vocal critic of the show. I've seen all the episodes and as it stands right now, it's absolutely miserable. But there does seem to be a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. First of all, Sir Spielberg and Co. are changing up the format and moving to one hour-long show a week. Congratulations. You mean it didn't help that people never knew what night the show was on, or how long it was on for, or what the hell was going each episode? Really? All the episodes have been virtually bleeding into one another because they show us the same god damn thing every week. The whole process of box office night and movie night and all that, yikes. I'm sure it sounded like a great idea at the time to the suits. It sure did to me back when the project was first announced, but boy did it ever go wrong. I remember thinking that the show was going to be mega-huge thanks to Spielberg and Burnett's drawing power, and that short films would be the subject of conversations around every office watercooler. Now the only question I get about On the Lot is why the fuck am I still watching it? Well, here's why. I'm not an American Idol watcher, but I do get a kick out of their first few audition episodes, where they find the worst singers imaginable and get them to cry on camera when Simon tells them to kill themselves. Watching bad singing, though painful to the ears, is funny, and it's really funny when someone doesn't know it's bad singing. Bad short films on the other hand are what I like to call DEATH. There's no worse punishment for me than watching a really fuckin' retarded short. Well On the Lot showed about a dozen god-awful shorts last week. Yes, there were a handful of good ones, but most could've been made by a dolphin and his lucky monkey wife. Which is why I think there's hope for this show. Because every week, there's fewer and fewer bad movies, hypothetically. This does not happen on American Idol. Sure the most talented singers stick around til the end, but the best singer rarely wins, because musicians are their own product. They sell themselves. It's their face on the album cover, their voice on the stereo. Which is why the unattractive girl with the incredible voice didn't even make it to the finals. Film does not work like that. With a movie, that bias is eliminated, because most people watch a movie without ever knowing what the guy behind the camera looks like. Sure it matters what the actors look like, which is why those who make 20 million dollars a film are all ridiculously good looking and those who aren't, but can act circles around the pretty ones (like P.S. Hoffman), don't. Fortunately this isn't the search for the next Marlon Brando, it's the search for the next commercial director. Even though the masses of America still spend their money on terrible movies, people generally agree on what is and what is not a good movie. And that is why I have faith in On the Lot. Because I genuinely believe that if it does not get canceled, it will produce a bonafide talent. Maybe not the next Spielberg, or even the next Great Director that Fox wants you to believe is not only out there, but in this group of 50, but I have a feeling that whoever makes it out of this show will not be a one-hit wonder. Maybe I'm too optimistic or idealistic or some other -istic, but I have faith in the people (maybe not the people who actually pay to vote for this shit), who will elect a new filmmaking voice that they want to hear. I predict the show will get better each week from here on out now that the network realizes that it can't just rest on the laurels of two superproducers. It's not enough. You have to entertain people and you have to do it consistently. And frankly, they should start exercising a little more care, not to mention financial acumen, by just cutting these kids who make two shitty films in a row. I don't care if they have to cut 6 kids one week, sometimes, enough is enough and you just can't take one more trainwreck of a short film. It's pains me to watch some of the negative critiques these guys get from the judges because it's so obvious that they want to rip into it but can't because they have to appear nice to the 5 people still watching their shows so the next time Garry Marshall makes a Georgia Rule, people will like him enough to still pay to suffer through it. Take the curious case of Mr. Wack Alley Cab. How he was allowed to stay on the show and spend more studio money is beyond me. These kids are building a body of work. They will have multiple films to look back on after this once in a lifetime experience, so why waste money and airtime on a buffoon who thinks that Wack Alley Cab is something America wants to see. I hold these kids to high standards because by their appearance in front of my eyes via TV, Fox is saying that these kids were the best we could do, the best of what's out there. Either they need to stand by their casting choices and let the kids prove or disprove it, or simply admit that they completely fucked up the show and butchered what could've been a brilliant concept with lazy casting that results in lazy filmmaking, which begets bad TV, poor ratings, and ultimately, the cancellation of the show if it doesn't steer its course. So maybe I'm right and this show will navigate the choppy waters of primetime television, or maybe I'm wrong and it will continue sinking like King Kong on the Titanic, but either way, I'm just glad Fox has taken notice of the fan backlash and done something, anything, to try and right the ship. And voters, do your part and get rid of Mr. Wack Alley Cab, because I'm sure as shit not paying to do the network's dirty work.
-
I don't have anything to say at all though. Just wanted to show it's not all haters on here.
-
mediocre filmmakers arguing with each other, vying for power, and in the end the film suffers because of ego and bickering.yeah, I've seen this show before, it's called, "Wonka's Experience in Film School"hit's a little too close to hime, sorry to say...
-
but "hime" means princess in Japanese...so you know...that's something...I guess....
-
I didn't actually submit to be on On the Lot after I finished film school...the reason it doesn't work is noone really cares about the filmmaking process besides film geeks and those in the industry, I can't imagine how many votes they've actually been getting on this thing...
Reminds me of Screenings Week at my college except I was drunk the entire time and I could actually make valid comments or suggestions which I don't feel the judges are doing well...
Now if they included questions from the studio audience I'd be up in that immediately... -
The show that featured someone excitedly exclaiming "Brett Ratner makes the kinds of films I want to make!!!". After that, it was all downhill.
-
I don't know that I "like" Kathy Griffin but I do like watching her hustle and beg to make a living. This season should be interesting since she has gotten divorced and one of her parents died.
-
When she's fucking Howard Stern. Hio!
-
i watched the first two eps thought they were actually quite good. missed ep 3 ( couldnt find a torrent) and then saw a bit of 4 to see it had gone the route of american idol. uh no thanks. totally lost it.
-
She gets to have it both ways--suckle the teat of celebrydom while simultaneously denoucing herself as a hack on the "d-list." She's obnoxious, unfunny, and, like Kato Kaelin, Danny Bonaduce, and many others, she's the worst strain of public personas--the professional celebrity.
-
Look at all 50 entry videos. The filmmakers are talented. The problem is that the show shouldn't have been a reality show. It should have been a documentary/boot camp... and nothing more. The filmmakers are talented. The show is just awful.
-
"Lot" will be cancelled. The only reason they haven't yanked it, is because Spielberg's name is attached. But that generosity won't last long - it's their ad revenue going down the toilet. I agree with Filmwire, the "boot camp" mentality is more akin to what film school really is like. (Anyone here go through the infamous Super 8 class at USC?? I'll be damned, I forgot the number.)
-
Here's another problem with the Lot. On American Idol, the contestants' job is to perform for you, to be entertaining. They themselves do this entertaining. As a result, the audience tends to get attached to the contestants themselves. But "On The Lot", the contestants are not only 'un-entertaining', but are, in many cases, nauseating. Most directors are, by nature, ego-maniacal control-freak douches. Getting to know them will more than likey bias the audience towards disliking their movie. I know I'm never going to go see a movie by those douchebags from season 2 of Project Greenlight.
-
is, quite opposite to what was said in the posts above me, that people will vote based solely on the director rather than their work. There will obviously be a bias based upon where the director is from, and how attractive/charismatic the director is. They should just show all the films during one episode without revealing who the directors are, let the people vote, and then you'll get a true verdict on who the best filmmaker is on a given night. As a Canadian, I'm already predisposed to vote for the guy from Vancouver, but if I look at his films objectively, I see that he's all bells and whistles with some technical skill, but he can't draw good performances from his actors. Maybe he'll be the next George Lucas...but I'd rather see someone who can direct a simple scene, and make it powerful.
-
I enjoyed the first two episodes, it was promising, then the third episode disappeared completely and they switched the staging to this horrible and painfully dragged out Idol format. Some of the film-makers seem to have genuine talent but at least one of them (the English guy) has been voted off already while absolutely dire bile like mr whack alley cab gets to stay on. As someone said above, Spielberg should be embarrassed to have his name on this.
-
They've bungled just about every aspect of this show, but the biggest problem is that they are giving the filmmakers specific assignments. They should just say 'your film can be one minute, you can do whatever you want, go.' In a contest where the films have to be funny, the humor becomes more important than the direction. An otherwise talented director who isn't funny, can lose to a funny director who isn't as talented. It seems as though no one was funny, and you could feel the strain in the directors' work. If they were allowed more creative freedom, they could more closely pursue thier individual stengths, and perhaps the shorts would be better off for it.
-
and whoever said that kid who always does the special effects might be the next George Lucas has obviously never seen George Lucas' early shorts.
-
To say the show is a disappointment ,...well thats an understatement,...needs a better format,...I dug the last season of Greenlight and even own "FEAST" they just need to redo the format,....can you imagine the strings attached to the 1 million dollar deal,..uhg!
-
Didn't we learn with Greenlight that not every great director is a great writer? Why doesn't this show know that. You think Coppola could write a funny 1-minute short? He probably would have been eliminated by now under this format. Also, completely eliminating the BEHIND THE SCENES aspect of this show is a mistake. You see NOTHING of how the topic is presented to the filmmakers, or their process in tackling it. So all we're left with is staring at shitty shorts for an hour. You can do that any time on YouTube.
-
it still has pride and distances itself from the unfunny Griffin
-
Magpye, I don't see how that's the opposite of what I said. I, too, feel that qualities of the director biases the votes. I only differ in that I am usually nauseated by their egos and end up biased against what they produce.
That's what I think the flaw of this show is. I think it's more likely to produce mockery than a fanbase for a director. -
Haha, no, I wasn't refering to you...just took me a loooong time to post my thoughts, so the post(s) I was referring to came somewhere higher up in the thread :)
-
"But what I really want to do is direct..." Filmmaking is a collaborative effort, involving hundreds of crew members specializing in specific positions. One-in-a-million will actually direct. This show emphasizes the misconception that many non-professionals harbor about the industry. Hell, even film school usually gets it all wrong (been there, done that). The producer/director combo isn't the norm, and neither is the writer/director. Spielberg gained a foothold by directing TV shows and TV movies written by others - plus, he's a rare talent. I'd like to see wanna-be's dropped in the heart of a real production community, and see who survives, choosing whatever aspect of the industry is their strength, and work their way to directing.
-
When I compared him to George Lucas, I was referring the to fact that GL has become more interested in the technology side of film-making rather than capturing 'humanity' on film. I haven't seen any of GL's short films, so I can't comment on them :)
-
He might be one of the worst quote unquote directors, I've ever seen. And this is coming from a guy that just graduated from film school less than a month ago. I mean I've seen some shitty films, but Wack Alley Cab? Every time they show him talking on a video, it's him milking the sick dad angle for all its worth. Seriously dude, go back and film your friends skateboarding. BTW, I realized that when they show the filmmaker before the film AND they have to explain what the film is about, that means that you won't understand it hence poorly made. The guy that made the Dance Man film, THAT was actually pretty clever. He's my pick to win, but he won't b/c everyone keeps nutting over that one guy's cheesy and lame FX work. Fuck THAT guy.
-
The host of the show, while always flubbing her lines, is hotter than the sun. Also, I'm not jealous of the people on the show or anything, I'll be the first to tell you that I still need to work on aspects of my game, but there are some people (like Kenny) that just didn't belong on that show.
-
anymore is that the editing can influence the voting. We all know Reality TV is edited to create heroes and villains, underdogs and douchebags. I would have preferred the decision be the judges or the other contestants. Having the public vote was a mistake. Most people vote for the one they like the best, which is like giving the Oscar for Best Director to the director of the movie that won Best Picture. Not always the same.
-
My problem with her is that she realized that the best way to become successful was to start gossiping about celebrities on stage. Doesn't sound like actual stand-up comedy to me. I hate anything centered around the lives of celebrities.
-
But it can't without suffering a big Spielberg/Burnett financial penalty for doing so. The best they could do is to limit it to 1 hour a week and kill the second show. It will limp along for the summer.
-
I think she's funny, and I like her stuff on Bravo. Sorry.

This just announced from the On The Lot Website:
"TRANSFORMERS" DIRECTOR MICHAEL BAY
TO SERVE AS GUEST JUDGE "ON THE LOT"
TUESDAY, JUNE 5, ON FOX
Moviemaking competition series ON THE LOT will air its weekly "Film Premiere" episode this Tuesday June 5 8/7c on FOX, with "Transformers" director Michael Bay ("Armageddon," "Bad Boys") serving as a guest judge along with regulars Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall.
The remaining 15 director finalists have been divided into three groups of five, and the first group - Sam Friedlander, Hilary Graham, Trever James, Shalini Kantayya and Adam Stein - will premiere their personal submission films and receive the judges' critiques. Viewers will vote for their favorite films after the show.
I'm sure we'll hear some contestants wax about how great he is, how influential he has been on their "style" or sensibilities or whatever. I'm sure that Spielberg's connection to the Transformers film has nothing to do with Bay's inclusion here. Uh-huh.
Still, if I had a pistol to my head tonight and had to choose what to watch between K. Griffin and On The Lot...OTL wins, despite the horrendous Box Office and Result shows. -
if on the lot is actually looking for a director they should give them the same vague script and make them all direct them, I understand this will be boring for an audience but it'll look for the better director or vision...
The problem is the prize, a million dollar development deal is also not for a director necessarily, development means they'll come up with ideas, that's completely different from finding the next director, now if it was finding the next writer/director that would be another story... -
Hostess is teh super-hawt tonight. Yeah, I said "teh" and "hawt".
-
Cunt.... thats right i called her that. Shes not funny at all. And what the hell is up with michael bay, that guy thinks his shit dont stink.
-
Jun 05, 2007 7:35:45 PM CDT
Wow, Michael Bay actually knows what he's talking about
by browncoatjedi
He nailed what was wrong with those films and wasn't afraid to hurt their feelings. You can tell Carrie and Garry are not being truthful about these lame films.
-
Who got kicked off tonight?
-
but she has no clue what the fuck to do
-
was terrible. It wasn't a film, more some type of schizo doc. Well made yes, but just not good.
-
No one got kicked off tonight, but they changed the format. Now they're in groups of 5 each week, and viewers vote on only those 5. Not sure if they're going to boot this week's loser off before showing the next 5, but I think the smaller groups work better than trying to cram every film into one night.
-
This episode was a huge improvement over last week's 2 episodes.JacenSolo, I had the same idea. The best way to judge who is the best director is have them direct the same thing. A well-written 3-minute script could vary greatly between directors. A lot would depend on interpretation. The same script could be played as straight drama or as light comedy. It all depends on your actors and the tone of the film. Because each director is different, it would not necessarily be boring to the audience because they would be seeing a different interpretation. And if they stuck with this format, it would be interpreted only 5 times. Give each group a different script to shoot.Hostess is hot but not a great MC. And she seemed to spend half the night with her head in Michael Bay's lap. It's kinda sad to see a wanna-be starlet sucking-up on live tv.

Makes me wonder what these people did to get selected
by 'cholera's ghost
The films I saw were very pedestrian (didn't catch the last one or two). Alright, yeah, I know they only have like what, less than a week to make these films? But still, a prodigy Director/Writer should have enough ideas to really shine. Hope next week we see something more special.
-
Adrianna must really want a role in a Mike Bay film
-
that Michael Bay made the most insightful comments on all the films shown, and I actually agreed with him on everything. He had an asshole attitude about it, but that's what these directors need after last week's sugarcoating of whenever someone did something bad, they were just told "It wasn't great, but I know you can direct movies..." If Bay is this competent, why can't he make a good movie?
-
Tonight was MISERABLE. I will eat my hat if Fox actually lets this season run its course.I just wonder if they're contractually obligated to give the million-dollar deal to SOMEONE, or if they're all just screwed when the show meets its inevitable demise.Good Riddance. Come back to bed, Adrianna!
-
Sounds like a better format, I'll catch up with it. I really hope someone re-does this show and does it right.
-
He's actually, say it with me haters...VERY GOOD at what he does. I've really never understood the problem people had with him. He's a very visual director (and yes he LOVES his orange filters) and it showed last night. He's also, from what I understand, very demanding to work for. But the end product always speaks for itself. I can think of 5 other directors that could take Bay's best action scenes (Spielberg, Dominic Sena, Brian DePalma, Tony and Ridley Scott) and turn them into something as entertaining. I think the main problem people have is the material he chooses to direct. But as time has gone on he's tackled stuff with more substance (only if it is a bit more).
-
But what a dry program. We wait a whole week only to see 5 shorts? WTH, make it a 2 hour show and before each film starts, show a bit making of. I want to see them making these shorts. Not just watch them with a crappy interview in front and Transformer commercials inbetween. Making of + short, that's what we need. This was a realy bad episode, very very bad. Shame you mr. Spielberg.
-
Granted, I just drifted through the final ten minutes this time....but, argh, what a mess. Bay came across as a preening bitch, and the format makes "Idol" look like Shakespeare. Step on this before it crawls under the fridge.
-
FUCKING LAUGH TRACK? This show is beyond lame.
-
Bay complemented the hot indian chick with the big cans and crappy movie for one reason. He frosted her face by midnight. Bank it.
-
Who was surprised??
Hahahah that James Blunty guy gave Bay the look of death when he told him he took 3 minutes to tell a 2 min story. -
...and he's a great director, just a world class a-hole...right on the money last night with his criticism...and what's with the Adriana hate? Man don't you guys watch Robin & Co. in the morning? If not, tune into Headline News, she's done the Entertainment reporting for the past couple of years...
-
Kathy is hilarious, she says things about the ridiculous celebs that we say but people actually hear her. Her special last night was fantastic. As well as her season 3 premiere. Sad that her dad was still alive during filming and now isn't. :(

You know...it's a good show but it needs to be adjusted
by samuel steamer
I like that they droped the initial apprentice format. Viewers should be judging the movies, not whether they like the directors based on how they are being presented.
LOSE the host. She is horrible! She draws they show out way too long. It could be a great half hour. I never thought I'd say that Ryan Seacrest knows how to do it but she proved me wrong. Keep it moving honey. Stop flirting with contestants and stop doing the Deal or No Deal thing. (the audience has chosen and the winner...will be revealed after this message from our sponsers) Fuck off already!
Judges...keep it short and sweet unless it is truelly warrented. Who really cares what Carrie Fisher thinks? G Marshall should view movies based on what's on screen rather than the sex of the person making it. I have been generally pleased with the revolving judge.
Lastly...pick a night and stick to it if you really want to give the show a chance. I have had to go online numerously to see when it's on.
There are some tlented people on this show. They are not all going to be golden films. they are under a tight time frame and under pressure to perform. when they get down to the final seven or so, then we will see some great filmmaking. they will be used to the process and confident with what they have to work with.
To the "On the Lot" Producers:
Tighten this show up!!!
To the Viewers: Give it a chance. They aren't professionals yet.
Later folks. Be good.
-
By the way, I wasn't referring to Bay's comments, but his posture. But, all I saw of this episode was the final ten minutes - I missed most of his comments.
-
Entertainment Weekly confirmed that last night's films were not new ones made in the last week, although the show gave that impression. They were their audition films! What a farce.

WTF? So how is ON THE LOT films different from YouTube videos... and shouldn't they get more than a Million as the last 3 GREENLIGHTS couldn't make a good movie for that kind of money doing it the "Studio" way. Sending a winner home with a Million $$ you could end up with another Robert Rodriguez who builds a little in home studio and makes a HD movie using a decked out RED camera and FCP outside of Hollywood. Give the winner a year to bring back any kind of movie as long as it met a set standard , What rating, How long, not porn, no snuff... ( The Studio can insist on a few STARS that must be in the movie for BO interest) but you would get a better film (plus another reality show) than some rushed out in 3 weeks , everyone bitchin' about the low pay and laughin' at the inexperienced to studio ways director doing things the wrong way IMHO.

Sorry. I watched TRANSYLVANIA 6500 on DVD last night and my brain is still stuck going "WTF?" I didn't remember it being so bad. Damn cleavage!

Don't watch it then.

You're talking out of your ass, Steamer. If I didn't watch it, you'd say "How can you criticize something you haven't seen?" Critiquing a show requires some semblance of viewership. God, when did this site go schoolyard?
