or almost first
-
Can't wait!
-
I'm calling that right now. His other family, well, that's a different story. But Chase is not going the Godfather part III route. Just my opinion.
-
If one family doesn't die, the other one will.
-
Everyone? EVERYYYYYYYYOOOONNNNNNEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Nobody important will die, because how could there be a movie then? Thats my prediction: itll end in a sort of cliffhanger to set up a R-rated movie.
-
Talk about conflicted!
-
You know it's true. Wack=Downsizing
-
Fat and a sociopath! Any girl's dream.
-
We wait this long for the final ten episodes and this is the best they can do? Hey writers, how about... I dunno... maybe a goddamn story arc? Seriously, who gives a hot steamy damn about Vito's son or most of the other weak crap they've shown us. Could Tim Dailys characters death been any more gratuitous or tacked on for a pointless shock value moment? I went back and watched some older seasons last weekend and this current one is a snoozefest by comparison.
-
Silvio will be next to bite the bullet. Paulie will survive the series.
-
How can anyone say this season is awful......each episode gets better and better.....all you talkback morons dont realize it...vito jr story was perfect....we care because it sets up tonys need to become a father figure...for AJ, for christophers baby, all over...
everyone assumes tony will die, so guess what, he wont....
bobby will not die, paulie probably.....bobby will take over, they set it up in Soprano home movies, bobby broke his cherry...he may not be next in line, but he is definitly who tony will leave the bussiness to, the season is all building to tonys leaving....retiring.....
his family is what is important.... -
that was the most exciting thing of that episode.
-
Man I sure hope something--anything--happens in the last 2 episodes. With few exceptions, this has been a very boring season.
-
Italian does not mean half white/half black. If you're gonna blather your ignorant racist bigotry at least get it right.... For 1, I think you've confused Sicilia with everyone from Italia. For 2, I think maybe you've seen True Romance a few too many times. For 3, pretty much everyone in the world is of mixed decent in one way or another, we are all human beings, we're all the same on the inside. For 4, the politically correct term for someone with mixed ethnic background that is part white/black is Mulatto
Here's the wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mulatto -
Gosh could you imagine Tony flipping to stay alive? I used to want to see Tony die, but only at the hands of Robert Patrick, but I'm jumping onboard with some of the above talkbackers. One of the most powerful conclusions to any series ever would be Tony turning state and being placed in witness relocation -- in effect giving us the death of the Tony Soprano we've come to know over the years, and the birth of Kevin Finnerty, John Q. Businessman, and his family -- the Finnertys. Tony living the strait life would make me want to see a follow up movie a few years down the road, even though it would never happen.
-
...what Sicilians was spawned by.
-
like I said, apparently some of you f@#$ers have watched True Romance a few too many times... and while yes it's a brilliant movie, and yeah that scene is intense.... you racist pig... all I have to say is that HITLER WAS PART JEWISH. HE HATED HIMSELF. That is a perfect example of how stupid and pathetic racism is. GRRRRRRRR
-
Sorry for the spoiler, but since readers want them, from reading The Sopranos message board at IMDB (where someone posted some photos taken while on the set
of the 2nd last ep), Benny apparently whacks Phil (Frank Vincent) in the 2nd last episode.
-
I hope it's an epic, at least 2 hours.
-
It will happen.
-
Season 6, Part 3!
-
I love that movie. That scene with Gandolfini is classic. "First one's the hardest."
-
it'll be the greatest moment in television history! I'm betting on the russian to come back, and kill Tony.
-
if thats the case, why can i spot jews in a crowd? why do they tend to have surnames that give the game away? where are all the black jews? and so forth. of course theyre an ethnicity. or is this some american taboo nowadays?
-
sil and bobby die. parisi escapes. next week should be insane.
-
"Uncle Junior pees himself." cripes.
-
OK...this is getting ridiculous. Network press releases and copy-and-paste from the TV Guide do not constitute spoilers.
You did this with "Heroes", with the non-Robert Hume so-called Spoiler summaries of "24", and you're also doing it now with "Entourage".
Stop using the "Spoilers" box for items that do not contain spoilers. There's more revealed in a commercial than in these so-called Spoilers.
It's misleading and it gets many people to open topics they otherwise wouldn't just so you can get the clicks that you can then use to make money from your advertisers.
It's misleading and it's wrong.
It's also a huge insult to the people who visit your site. -
This site should learn from you. What you wrote, those are true spoilers.
Thank you. -
At this point, I miss the bear that hung out in Tony's backyard. Let's bring him back.
-
in a van. "Jack, we have a lot to talk about." Fuck, wrong show.
-
I heard that they flash-forward a few years into the future in the final episode and Gandolfini has a very bad, glued-on beard and meets an estranged Carm at the airport and starts to weep. "We were never supposed to leave the mafia." Also, Paulie drowns heroically.
-
According to my digital cable guide, next week's episode is slated for 65 minutes.
-
Is that the movie you want to see? Tony turning states evidence and trying to go straight. Sammy "The Bull" style.
-
Sounds to me more like life imitates the Rocketeer!
-
Even tough people keep posting it... everyone dies. Not just most. Everyone. No one makes it.
-
The best moments haven't been the deaths. The fight that broke Tony and Carmella up. Tony and the tapes. Gloria begging Tony to kill her. Melfi NOT going to Tony about the rape (I would have...). The subtle manuvers while Tony was in a coma and bilking Carmella of her share.
-
He'll get out of the biz. Each of these last eps Tony has had to blatantly choose between his two "Families."
In the end, he'll take Little Carmine's advise. He'll choose the wife and kids. -
For anyone who despises surprises, I found this on Television Without Pity's "Speculation With Spoilers" thread.
1. "nypost.com : Tonight 's show is a Bloodbath, say Hollywood sources, and the body count will rise high , giving " Sopranos " its biggest bang in a adrenaline - pumping episode -- the next to last in the series' history. The next-to-last episodes of the "Sopranos" seasons have often been the most violent and dramatic, while the season finales have closed on a more contemplative note, there's no reason to think the June 3 episode of the entire series will be any different. The SOPRANOS, Sunday , 9 pm est., HBO ."
And then there's this....someone with the moniker "TurkRogers" posted it on the AOL message boards. He says he found it on Television Without Pity (same thread), though I have no patience to look for it. Legit? Who knows. Sounds legit.
"In ?Blue Comet?, written by Matthew Weiner and David Chase and directed by Alan Taylor, will play out like this:
Silvio finds out from a cop-contact of his that Paulie has flipped, and that it happened off-screen, shortly before season 6b started. He tells Tony about it at the Bing, followed by a long conversation about how they are going to handle the situation. This is what is meant by ?He?s playing both sides of the fence? from the previews. Tony reveals to Silvio that he was considering killing Paulie on the boat in ?Remember When?, and regrets not doing it when he had the chance. Silvio gives Tony a weird look because he?s not sure why Tony would have wanted to kill Paulie, since he hadn?t known he flipped, he wouldn?t have had any other good reason. This leads to an argument, in which Silvio begins questioning Tony?s leadership and the amount that he cares about looking out for his crew. Tony explodes, and ends up hitting Silvio. Silvio turns back around and hits Tony, and as Tony falls backwards, Silvio realizes what he?s done and runs out of the Bing.
Phil decides to retaliate for the fight Tony had with Coco. He says that his decision is to take out Tony?s crew one by one.
Bobby does in fact get killed in front of the model train store just as many other spoilers have reported. This is where the episode title comes from. However, his son is not with him.
AJ escapes from the mental facility by jumping out of a window into a dumpster. However, he lands awkwardly and sprains his ankle. He starts calling for help, and nurses from the facility come out and have to help him back in to the building.
There?s a scene with the Feds in which they are talking about LCN and one is talking about Paulie Walnuts coming in handy in their case against Tony. The other agent corrects him, say that it is actually Carlo that they flipped recently. The other cop is stunned, but he never gets a chance to get back to Silvio with the truth ?.
Tony gets a call from Silvio on his cell, who is calling to ask for forgiveness. Tony had a Melfi scene in which he realized Silvio might have been right in his opinion of Tony, and is no longer really mad at Sil. Tony tells him to meet him at the Bing to talk, and that they can?t let their feud distract them from taking care of Paulie, who will be a big problem. Tony is late getting to the Bing because Carmella calls him to say that there?s something wrong with AJ, and so Tony has to meet her at the hospital first.
Silvio gets to the Bing and is confronted by two hit-men that were hired by Phil. Having never seen the killers before, he is shot dead believing that he was actually set up by Tony. Patsy comes out as the murder takes place, and is caught off guard. The hit-men think they must now kill Patsy too, but he manages to narrowly escape on foot.
I?m told the scene at the hospital is very emotional, as AJ begs to come home and Carmella tells him that she can?t take all his nonsense anymore, and that she can?t emotionally handle it.
Tony stops by the Bing and when he learns what happened he quickly leaves, afraid he will be in danger too. At home, he gets a call from Janice that Bobby was shot dead. He tells Carm, who breaks down and cries again ? Between AJ and Bobby, we see her really begin to lose it in this episode.
The episode closes at Silvio?s wake. Patsy is there and has told Tony what happened. They are also talking about Bobby. The rest of his crew is there at the service to, trying to get Tony to start a war with Phil and retaliate. Tony just stands there in silence. At the end of the episode, he sees some flowers that were sent with a card on it from the FBI. Tony looks thoughtfully at the card as the scene fades out, and we?re left to wonder if that?s the only place left for Tony to turn." -
snape kills dumbledore.
-
Tonight, everybody dies - Meadow, A.J., Carm, Janis, Junior, the New Jersey family, the New York family. Everybody except for Tony.
Next week's series finale is set enitrely in 2093. Medical science has allowed Tony to stay healthy at age 134. He routinely travels to distant worlds on a rocket ship. His best friend is a robot. While visiting Endor, living teddy bears crush him with giant logs. The end. -
Man, there are some dumb fucks on this site. Sicily was invaded by the Moors and the Italians living there ended up mixing with the Moors, giving the world the Sicilians. Northern Italians are very similiar to Germans with many having blonde hair and blue eyes. The rest of Italy is not half white-half black but descendent from the Romans. Idiots.
-
"Kiss it. Yeah, that's right. APOLOGIZE."
-
Be sarcastic. Let's see you eat your words.
-
I can't for the life of me remember his name. Finn, is it?Anyhow, couldn't allow opportunity to pass me by!
-
If your spoilers are accurate, not only is that an awesome penultimate episode and cliff hanger for the end of show finale - but it might almost make up for the absolute shit they've been shovelling for the past two seasons.
-
Jack Bauer is driving. Henry Hill, as played by Ray Liotta, is in the backseat. "Get in, Tony. There's a lot we have to talk about." Cue the Sex Pistols version of "My Way".
-
oh shit oh shit oh shit!
-
This was an insane episode. Poor Bobby. Poor Sil. Paulie "nice stems" - classic!
-
Full scale war.
Phil orders hit on Tony.
Tony finds out about it and orders hit on Phil.
Assasins kill the wrong guy
Bobby is killed. Silvio is in hospital and probably won't recover.
Soprano family flees the premises while Tony is bunkered down with his inner circle. -
all you nay-sayers LEAVE. this was good stuff.
-
who was that dude that Syl killed?
-
I ask the talkbackers to give up the title.
-
* spoilers for TONIGHT * It doesn't look good. Tony's going out Scarface style. Will he become the boss of NY or will he go out like Al? I was literally shaking during that ep, I guess I'm not cut out for the mob. Bout time Tony slapped AJ. Next week should have been two hours.
-
Well....half right.
-
Where'd you get such an accurate spoiler?
-
how long has it been?
-
Remember when Livia said "Poor you"? THIS SEASON SUCKS!!!!!
-
*Maybe* the ep where Pussy died. Hard to say that even that ep was "better" though.
-
HappyHamster, I worded that poorly, and now I look stupid.
-
This was great, but I still think the last couple episodes of season 1 are the best, especially the one that ends with "I Feel Free" by Cream.
-
Anybody watch the preview for next week? There is a major explosion reflected on A.J 's face.
-
I can't think of one right now, from start to finish, that was this tense. Opening with Sil killing - whoever that was - and then Phil setting up the hit, and the FBI guy letting Tony know. Dr. Melfi dumping Tony after reading that article. One last dinner at Artie's with ERIC FUCKING MANGINI (J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets).
Wow.
I don't think next week is longer than usual, so this is going to get wrapped up quickly. Such a shame.
-
Glad Paulie's around for the bitter end (though I have the horrible feeling he's going to do something REALLY bad to betray Tony.)
-
The End by the Door's was what the stripper was dancing to when Sil was doing the scene at the bar.
-
WRONG!! The Doors song being played at the Bing was "When the Music's Over", not "The End".
Fucking fantastic ep.!! -
making it consistent with all of the episodes of this season.
-
(whistle) I keep reading comparisons of the season finales and while I still think "Lost" is the one to beat, the sense of dread that hung over tonight's episode of "The Sopranos" was nearly unbearable. I can't wait to see next week's series finale, but I'm eating a light meal before I do. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack tonight.
-
Best part? AJ's inevitable slap down? Bobby riddled with bullets? Nobody figuring out Phil wasn't dead? No, the best part was Melfi ending the therapy.
-
It was sad to see the childlike bobby bacala get hit in a train store. I've always hated phil leotardo, what a douche.
-
That was certainly the best episode this season and will give all the whiny bitches who are always saying "The Sopranos hasn't been good for 5 years!"
Great episode, but I am cautious about next week. It will be hard pressed in one hour to top this episode and wrap up the series. -
Definitely!
-
Sil said he was approached by New York. It stands to reason they would approach Paulie, too. We know Paulie has allied himself with New York before. When Phil was deciding who to clip, he said not Paulie.
Paulie was put in charge of the hit on Phil. It gets fucked up, and Phil goes into hiding.
GUARANTEED...Paulie is with New York. Tony will clip him next week. Count on it. -
...and very insightful; you very well could be right.
i gotta ask - what the fuck is going on with the federales? it looked like they may have had their hand in the final couple of episodes with some heavy shit going on...guess not. -
Kind of a downward movement in his career. -
"The Knight in White Satin Armor"
season 2, episode 12. Tony's nemesis, Richie is shot down by Janice during a bout of domestic violence. Nuff said. -
for a while now. and since T helped Harris with the terrorists, it gave him points with Harris. Harris tipped T about NY's moves, otherwise, T would not have had the leg up.
-
Doesn't the second to last episode been good (I haven't watched it) validate that the past 5 years have sucked?
You'd be able to contrast what happened tonight and the past and arrive a the conclusion that everything else has sucked, except for tonights show. -
Maybe the most absurd thing I've heard in a while. Spoken out of true ignorance.
Cheers, douchebag. -
Cheers. Cheers FuckFace.
-
every show has highs and lows. but to say 5 years sucked shows what you think you know about good tv writing. did 5 years really suck? each and every episode? get the fuck off this board if all you can do is diss and not back it up.
-
I knew that Bobby was a goner when the cell started ringing and he had already gotten out of the car, and when you see that it's a train store, it all makes sense.......Tony slaping the shit out of A.J. was funny as hell...and bout' time too....Carmela thinking that the 'life' was a thing of the past, and that they had gotten to big for the trivial fighting......Poor Sil..couldn't get to the gat quickly enough (but Patsy got loose, man)...Melfi's conclusion that "oh yeah..I'm counsling a sociopath", and her cracks at the dinnertable about reverse-racisim ("I was only talking about the wine!"..)....It's good thatr she didn't bite her tounge, or ignore the fact that Tony at times can be a baby and an ignorant bully(There's been HEAVY emphasis on the mis-pronounciation of words amoungst the characters this season...it's always been there, but this season seems to reinforce the thought that the characters are not at all smart, just cunnning and vicious...)She finally had enough..
So i guess this was Phil's plan all along, to move on the Jersey crew, and now he finally has the juice to do so....although using the dispute about the split on the dock job and the beating of one of his captin's seems a lil unjustified for an old school cat like Phil...(and tonight they mentioned the five families, which may/may not still be intact...wouldn't Leotardo have to consult with them before offing a boss? And wouldn't they say "bad for buisness", especially over trivial fueding?)...All in all, a strong episode, and I like Tony laying down with the AK (kept thinking of that line in Pulp Fiction that Sam Jackson says about the "AK 47!!!!!!!!...etc..) -
...That wasn't an AK, that was the M16 Bobby gave Tony in the first ep of the season.
-
I asked if you could name a BETTER episode than tonight's.
-
not Pulp. Sorry, dude. I dont mean to be a dick. But a good post overall.
-
Yep...you're right....That's why he was flashing back to the fishing trip when bobby first gave him the M16.......Now, he can use it to get back at Leotardo's ass.....
-
Ohhhh, shit...I must have smoked wayy too much, cause I was just listening to the Jackie Brown soundtrack on the way to work this morning, plus, that's an easy one...Thanks for correcting me man...Apologies to the film community (see fellow talkbacker's....we can be corrective of each other as well as respectful...like *GASP*, dare I say it...adullts?)
On another note, I would've loved to see how Chrissy would've factored into all of this....His jokes and his reflections whenever there are shitty situations, where his loyalty would've lied...To see if Tony would've passed the the torch to Christopher with all of the events.....thought he would've had a bigger role in this shit, but hey.....things happen... -
is national "Cancel HBO Day"!
-
But I'm depresssed that it's coming to an end. There will never be another one like it! I simply can't see Tony being taken out. He'll find a way to kill every mother fucker left standing to still keep breathing.
-
I just don't see how they could fit the payoff of the (ongoing) storyline thread of the FBI building a case against Tony Soprano. It was such a huge part of the earlier seasons, that I figured it would be the "series-story-arc", the same way Rambaldi was the story-arc for the entire series of Alias, Wolfram and Heart for Angel, and lets not forget the mythology of the X-Files... I really thought the FBI would play a major role in how this series would end, but with the exception of Agent Harris, the FBI has mostly been absent from season 6 (if you count last years episodes, in which the FBI played a big role in the opening episode). I mean, I am NOT complaining about a mafia war being the ending story-arc, but it just seems like all that FBI stuff was built up for nothing.... And with that, BRING ON THE FINAL EPISODE ALREADY!!!!
-
... or else I wouldn't have put "BRING ON THE FINAL EPISODE ALREADY!" in caps. As I said, I'm not complaining about the whacks and such, just that a major storyline is completely forgotten. Unlike the old "wheres-the-Russian" situation, which was NEVER meant to be important or to return, the FBI storyline just doesn't have an ending... if anything, it should have been dealt with earlier this season, even if only in a passing mention. I'm NOT saying I want to see endless scenes of the FBI pissing and moaning... but if they don't finish that storyline, then all the pissing and moaning we DID WATCH in the past was a waste of our time, and was unnecessary... THAT is what I don't enjoy, as it may as well have not been brought up at the beginning of the season.
-
say it ain't so, this has to be a dream, even if hints were dropped before hand, i can't belive it, paulie you rat fink!
-
thanks
GQtaste
Also, the first three seasons were mostly top-shelf! Esp. the first two. -
BEST. EPISODE. EVER.
-
why is everyone saying its not resolved? what did you think was going to happen with the FBI? anything you thought was going to happen, was b/c you all THOUGHT it was going to happen. Why cant it be just about the potential arabs terrorists, and how that mellowed tony out a little bit, and opened him up to helping his country a little bit, and, in return, agent Harris tipped him off about THE IMPENDING ATTACKS BY LEOTARDO. Maybe thats the payoff, guys. we all read way too much into everything. part of me, however, is asking why did tony make bobby kill the french canadian dude, and the following scenes of bobby's shirt being ripped off in close-up etc., but like in life, maybe it's b/c he felt like it. simple. I agree that sometimes we're shown things that make us assume its important (and usual television "rules" would lead us to believe its important), but Chase has never done anything we can ever preidict. No one knows how this will end, as all the posts over the past 8 weeks proves. It is what it is. and that is the beauty of this show. its like life. no one can ever predict what will happen. and what happens, happens.
-
Okay. I think this was the best episode ever. It takes a lot to get me saying "heavy shit" and I don't remember any of Scorsese's mob flicks having me going wtf like this ep did. One question that's bugging. WHY DIDN'T BOBBY AND SILV HAVE GUNS ON THEIR PERSON / BE MORE ON THE DEFENSIVE? I really think Chase has something awful planned for Tony. This episode really drove home the fact that his family is just a "glorified crew" at best, as Phil stated. Killing Bobby in a toy store is simply saying "this guy wasn't cut for the life" and the way Van Sant's character got laid out proves that he was never capable of the position. THESE GUYS ARE AT WAR, YOU'RE GOING SHOPPING FOR TOYS?
As far as the Feds go. That biker who got ran-over in front of the Bing might play into a total move-in - a minor victim, yes, but the law is coming. I wouldn't count them out. Nor the terrorist plot-line. I don't think it's there merely for historical sake. Chase is going to wrap it up. I think Tony will end up getting laid out by something unexpected. Not Paulie or Phil's crew. Anyhow, the end image of Tony up in the bedroom with the m16 was incredible. Claustrophobic and foreboding as is possible. Cliff-hanger almost literally. I liked the end music too. No rock classics, just some classical freeze for your brain. Anybody who thinks the Soprano fam won't play into the finale or face some death is kidding themselves. They've had it too easy, even AJ. And the shrink ending it so coldly - it puts Tony out in reality where he should've been a while back. The facade is broken and Chase is going to make sure we realize how dumb Tony really is. He did with his crew in this one, the last ep is going to be brutal. And great. I have no doubt now. -
I didn't see this in the teaser for the final ep but it was mentioned above. Anybody see it or have any idea what that might mean?
-
... well, lets see what was left hanging. How about Ray Curto's cassette that he delivered the moment he died? I'm sure that cassette, along with his tendency to be VERY willing to spill his guts about EVERYTHING happening in the Soprano family business to the FBI.... Do you remember the fact that he wore a wire to Livia's funeral? Its little things like these that are sprinkled over the series that would make me (and I'm sure I wasn't the only one) to think that these little bits of information were adding up to something. I wasn't just thinking about recent events in the season, but the series as a whole. I'm not here to get all of you flamed up and pissed off (but thats a risk you take in AICN talkbacks), I'm just pointing out a few loose threads that DID seem to matter... and contrary to popular belief, the Russian was NEVER meant to return to the series to whack Paulie. He was just an instument used by the writers to come up with a way to get Christopher and Paulie lost in the woods, nothing more. The FBI however, seemed more epic in how they were used by the writers over the years. It was as if they WANTED us to think they were building up their case over all these years... and I don't think they would just drop the case that they worked so hard for. Rant over... NOW BRING ON THE FINAL EPISODE!! I'M DYING TO SEE HOW IT ALL PLAYS OUT!!!!!!
-
I wanna see the return of Skip as he hauls Tony off to Ass Rammin Prison
-
Anyone else find it fucking odd that nobody searched the upstairs of the house before Tony went up to hide out? The fucking halls, the windows, even the pillows on his bed seemed like they could have had trip wires set for an explosion. I loved it, but I'm a bit iffed with the lack of checking-shit-out-for-the-boss and about bobby and silvio acting like pussies when they're Fam is at war. I can't imagine how Van Sant felt about having his character punked out so easily. Not even landing a flesh wound before getting shot up. Goes back to my feeling that Chase will make us realize how small Tony was in this pond all along. Goes back to the terrorists too. There's always a bigger evil looming. And Meadow dropping out of med school means all of his dirty work might have been for zilch.
-
I'm one of those people that prefers "freakin'" over "fuckin'", and no breastisses. ;)
-
that with his top two guys killed or in a coma that Tony wont have the abilaty to stand up to a full fledged New York family and that he will see his only way of "getting" Phil and protecting his family is to enter the witness protection program?
-
and he'll end up saving the day? I know I'm nuts, but it occured to me after the fact sceen where Tony was cleaning up by the pool when Janice mentioned that Jr. doesn't have any more moneies and will get put in a state facility.
-
She alludes that his dementia is so bad that he thinks his accountant is from outer space. How the fuck will somebody in that bad a shape save the day? Unless you're proposing that he shows up, pisses himself, and the NY and NJ crews all have a good laugh, hug, and the credits roll.
-
shit has happened before. I know it sounds unrealistic, but after the show I was in the shower and it came to me thinking of theories of what could transpire next week.
Fuck! I can't believe it's about to end! -
Pretty obvious, they went out of their way to point out that New York wasnt targeting him. The only question is if Tony will realize that Paulie is a Judas before Paulie pulls the trigger.
-
That cardboard cut out in the hideout house of Sil posing "Don't count me out" might mean that he and Paulie are plotting to go to NYC. The whole hit on Sil was murky, just as murky as Paulie talking to the dude in the bathroom and arranging the "hit" on Phil. You never see Sil catch a really bad wound. And in the Sopranos all fatal wounds are shown a la Bobby. Really fishy, that.
-
I loved the Raging Bull reference between Tony and Silvio with Bobby laughing in between them. Funny stuff! (also kind of poignant if you consider Silvio as Tony's "brother".) And Bobby missing the phone call that would have alerted him to the impending whack-job. And Tony cradling Bobby's full-auto birthday present in his arms like an infant, waiting in the dark for the end to come. Awesome! I'm looking forward to next week and the finale... (and then cancelling my HBO!)
-
I aint buying it. I remember reading on the triva part of IMDB that the only way he'd take the part is if he would never turn into a rat. To me, it's a cheap way out.
-
Jun 04, 2007 2:23:22 AM CDT
Yes, it says he wouldn't take the part if he was a rat
by angry mean panda
but that implies squealing to the feds. Doesn't have anything to do with switching sides in a mob war.
-
Just to make it especially ironic that Tony was THIS close to whacking him on that boat.
-
Tonight's episode was the best Sopranos episode EVER!! Better than the episode that took out Richie "Who Gives A Shit?" Aprille. Next week's series finale might be better, but for the moment we have a new all-time champion, "The Blue Comet."
So say we all. -
It's been made clear that they're slowly building a case against Tony and are close to filing charges. We all assumed that the series denouement would revolve around that, but in fact the war with NY is pre-empting it.
-
I just might assgasm if Furio shows up in the final episode and lays waste to all those New York fucks!
-
There are so many great episodes. Johnny Cakes, Columbus Day one, Commendatori, the one where Tony and the boys go over to Italy, and on and on and on. D-Girl where Chrissy gets a taste of how the movie business really works. Pie-o-My. The one where Tony and Ada go for a run for some blow and the get into a wreck and insanity ensues. Live Free or Die where Vito attempts to gets found out and starts a transition in a new location. But I think my fav. is Pine Barrens. If I had to pick just one. Which is impossible to do. I just don't think you can narrow it down just to one.
-
Sorry to burst your bubble. But the producers have explicitly stated that Furio won't be coming back.
-
whoa there, it sounded to ME like it was part of the song "Soft Parade"
-
Use either "mixed-race" or "halfrican-American". I personally use "halfro", that seems to get the best response from my mixed friends. Mullato is a degrading label left over from slave days and Jim Crow, meaning "mule" (as mules are half-horse, half-donkey). Can't wait till this country (USA) becomes a little more like Brazil, and we all fuck to the point where we're all the same color- coffee with plenty of milk!
-
I can tell you are truly a fan with superior taste. I share your ardor for those installments.
But years from now I think you'll recognize that "The Blue Comet" was better.
Namaste. -
can't wait to get the entire run on hd-dvd.
-
It's 2007 for these mafia guys. Where's the body armor? You know, kevlar and such. You can order it on the Internet.
-
He setup the hit on Phil. He gave the assassins the correct picture. And his report that "the grey goose is dead" was made out of ignorance, not any kind of deceit.
The irony of Tony almost killing Paulie on the boat is going to come from Paulie SAVING Tony's life in the last episode. -
it wouldn't do any good. Mob guys always make sure to put two in the head if they get the chance.
-
Runs for 61 minutes according to the HBO site.
I agree, this was the BEST EPISODE EVER!
The sense of dread in the toy shop was incredible and the editing of Bobbys shooting interspersed with the toy trains crashing was superb! -
{sniffle} I can't believe how attached you get to people on TV.
-
even loved how it looked for a second that bobby was going to see it coming in the bell on the train and stand a chance.
-
18 minutes to go on the torrent download... Aarghhh! Let me tell you guys, svoiding reading your spoilers is a hideous, twisted hell. They are calling me. I must be strong.
-
... but after 6 seasons (quality or not) with the same characters, you're bound to have at least a LITTLE attachment to them. There are a lot of dead characters that I wished had lived, just so that they could have been in the show longer. And then Furio wasn't even killed, but ya gotta miss the guy... coolest enforcer ever! I still miss Christopher... would have been interesting to see how he would have fit in these final episodes. Poor Bobby... the one guy in Tony's crew that didn't deserve to see his fate coming... it should have been silent and out of nowhere, like he thought it would be, but instead he was gunned down in public, and he saw his killers before they fired. Poor guy.
-
Frank Vincent isn't going to die. I don't understand how it'll play out, but he does not die. FUCK THAT!
-
... over the course of a series: Bobby started out as a joke of a character, so silly as he could have been labeled comic relief almost... a guy fatter than Tony, allowing for a big guy like Tony to tease him about his weight on a constant basis... this image didn't go away for a LONG time either. Remember when Bobby was nothing more than Junior's caretaker, and never laughed at Junior's jokes because he didn't understand them? Only in the last few seasons did Bobby come into his own as a character... and this season was what made him feel like a full character, by showing that out of all those guys Tony sized up last year, Bobby was the one who could kick his ass... and by showing his first whacking, and how hard it was for him. In the end, all he wanted to do was play with his trains. Am I the only one that finds it increasingly sadder? I need to go watch it again!
-
I half expected him to be one of the Italins sent over!
-
Are posting "funny" fake spoilers. Just stop it, for god's sake.
-
What a fucking great episode! I was on the edge of my seat almost the whole show. Bobby getting it was so sad, I agree with you guys..you get attached and Bobby was never a killer.I can't wait till the last episode, just praying to god it's not Tony getting whacked in the first 5 min and then 55 minutes of dream/death into that freakin party house he saw. You never know with Chase
-
The Idea that AJ would ever follow in is fathers footsteps is crazy. How could he ever shoot anyone with all those tears in his eyes. He would be hitting eveything but the target. What a pussy. Melfi should have been out 3 seasons ago. Bobbys kids are now stuck with their wicked stepmother Janice. Tony wasted a perfectly good sandwich. It's not that The Sopranos has ever been a bad show. Its just that they have to many caracters that bring the show the a screeching halt whenever they show up. Melfi, Melfi's Shrink, The kids stupid side storys, Janice. If Paulie had more sceentime, every episode would have would been a gem. There was just to much soap opera and that's what has always keep it from be great and not just hit or miss from week to week or season to season. That being said, I will miss Tony and the crew. Here's hoping that they go out with a bang and not just the obvious kind.
-
I still give that to Pine Barrens. For completely different reasons. But I have to say, watching tonight's episode brought tears to my eyes. It was utterly beautiful. Seeing how deftly Chase & Co. has brought in favorite characters for their farewell scenes, without making it look horribly awkward (a la Seinfeld). He's set up a wonderful last episode, and frankly, I have no idea how it will end ... and considering how jaded I am and how derivative everything else is, that's an amazing, amazing accomplishment. Will Tony go witness protection ? Will he take revenge on Phil ? Will Silvio live ? Will Carmine Jr. rise up and be the brains behind the whole thing ? Will Paulie serve T up on a platter to New York ? Will that freaky midget cohort of Phil's get squashed ? All wonderful questions. And somehow, I get the feeling I'll be satisfied at the end of the final hour, and it will all seem natural. Kudos to everyone in tonights episode - from Melfi to the Buccos to Janice - they all played it perfectly, without hokey bittersweetness, or hamming it up, reminding us that the beauty of The Sopranos is in both the terrific, natural, CONSISTENT writing, and the terrific, subtle acting. Somehow they take these over-the-top grandiose characters and make them believable, natural and true to themselves. Bravo, gang.
-
if Furio had been the one to come back from Italy. Of course, Furio wouldn't have screwed up the hit so spectacularly, so I guess that wouldn't have worked.
-
I understand that Tony is a bad guy and probably deserves his comeuppance ... However they've positioned Phil as such a BASTARD, certainly the worse of two evils. I don't need the Sopranos to be action-packed - I thought the episode that Christopher was killed was better than last night's - but I don't think I'll be very satisfied if Phil is the victor here.
-
That one is my favorite, Herc.
-
One of the best, for sure, but I think the ep where Big Pussy gets whacked is right up there with it. The scene below deck on Tony's boat was absolutely surreal.
-
that paulie is working for new york. i think that is speculation at best. bobby didn't get the phone call from sil about going on the defensive so he was at the hobby store, which is something that bobby obviously did ROUTINELY. and sil get's shot outside the BING. the establishment HE OPERATES. seems like everyone is in a big hurry to think paulie walnuts gave up sil and bobby but they weren't in hiding by any means.
with that being said, i also realize that i could be COMPLETELY wrong. paulie playing with new york is a very viable option for a storyline. i just wanted everyone to know that it is just as possible for paulie to be loyal to the end. -
... has to be "College". The 5th episode of the first season is such a great example of a standalone story in a series, as you can watch this episode without ever seeing any other Sopranos episodes, and still get right into it. It is timeless, and I love watching that specific episode quite often. The only thing that would have made it better would be if it were longer! "Are you in the mafia?" ... "There is no mafia!"
-
loved the character. he was a good man.
-
to be prepared for several plotlines to NOT play out. i think everyone is looking for closure in a broad sense but i think david chase is going to have the last episode wrap up the new york battle and then set up an ending that will show the audience that everything will be business as usual again. because that's the way it is. new jersey WILL keep going. and not as phil's crew. organized crime in new jersey won't just cease to be around anymore.
to show what i'm talking about, look what happened with melfi last night. i would bet my life that we will not see melfi again. because the realistic way for it to play out is melfi to wake up to the personal risk and professional danger of treating tony. which is something that i think everyone has been ignoring. i mean, for all intents and purposes, a real life jennifer melfi would have booted a real life tony out a long time ago. david chase has been trying to show the unromanticized mafia, so the ending could very well be NOT tony going down in a blaze of glory, or it could be tony getting whacked by cheap shot to the back of the head. it's to close to call. goddam i wish sunday would get here already... -
Phil Leotardo may die, but Frank Vincent lives on. I just checked IMDB.
If Phil does die, I think having him die due to a massive and painful coronary would be most appropriate.
-
when i first heard speculation that paulie had 'flipped' and turned rat, i said NO WAY. why? simple - he got on the boat with T in florida. paulie is retarded, but not retarded enough to forget that this is how they whacked pussy. another whole in the 'paulie is a rat' theory is the fact that he agreed to play the character so long as they never made him a rat. so...is paulie helping NY? some evidence would support that theory: why did phil specifically tell his capos to not take out paulie? and if paulie is playing for NY, why not just kill T in his house when they were gathering provisions? (re: 'nice stems').
lastly...if you were 'on the run' and had decided to go into hiding; wouldn't you ditch the LARGE, WHITE escalade? and paulie with his caddy parked in front?? the thing is like a signal flare! WTF!
we'll find out soon enough if paulie is playing for NY; a simple phone call or text message will lead them to their hideout. and judging by the scenes for next week...it looks like T and paulie are in a car, T's driving, and it's snowing out. so they get out of the house...but why do they leave? are they forced to leave due to a small army knocking on the front door? and speaking of being holed-up in that house, my girlfriend cracked at the fact that they weren't there for 5 minutes and they ordered a pizza.
and TheDonDoh: totally agree with you. why didn't they search upstairs, etc. that house was anything but secure. stupid ginzos. -
Where's Lostfan with next weeks spoilers?????
-
Tony yells at the end, "We have to go back!"
-
I thought I heard somewhere that it's in his contract for the show that Paulie wouldn't be a snitch. Sounds like a red herring to me...

Who needs Lostfan's spoilers? Bring on purpletoupee!

His spoiler post above was almost 100% wrong! Throw in the Russian returning and Finn getting raped and you have the greatest spoiler post of all time.
-
Phil dies, Tony thinks he's safe, then Janice kills him. Tony made Bobby do his first "piece of work" this season and made a comment last night about Bobby being exiled for feeling sorry for Uncle Junior. Now he's dead. I can see Janice going off the deep end again and pulling an Aprile on Tony.
-
Listening to The Adam Corolla Show on radio this morning, Carolla spoke with Frank Vincent (Phil Leotardo). As they are wrapping up the interview, Carolla says "Heads will roll." Vincent replies something to the effect of, "Just remember you said that after seeing the final episode." Sounds like somebody is going to be literally decapitated...whether it's Phil or Tony, he didn't hint at.
-
It has already been posted this morning in members areas in different Sopranos web sites.
Meadow gets killed, they think it's Tony not here. Tony kills Phil and then goes off the deep end, is arrested. His history with Melfi is enough for him to be declared insane and is put into a mental institution, Paulie is then put in charge of the family. The issue with Sil is left open in case a movie is optioned.
It ends with Tony talking with Paulie about being "Made in America" ain't what it used to be for wise guys.
There is a lot more detail but I can't be bothered to post it all, that's the jist of it.
SPOILERS****SPOILERS -
...It is written; The beginning of the season having Junior shoot him. Tony deciding not to kill Paulie on the boat. Paulie's behavior through the entire series. Carm being the only one to put that lotion stuff on Tony's lips when he was in the hospital, showing she's the only one that cares about him, that she is his REAL family, and all the others are going to let him down, even A.J. and Milfi(sp?).
-
My memory is terrible with all of the Sopranos episodes, but I do think Pine Barrens is still the best. But it depends what you like. Are you a Peter Sellers kind of person, or a David Niven kind of person? The former kind of people will say Pine Barrens is the best, while the latter will say last night's episode was the best. I like both, but I prefer some wacky humor, so I have to go with Pine Barrens.Regardless, it was all good. Can't wait to see this end.
-
Never know on this show. Poor Sil.
-
is better than last nights
though last nights was awesome -
He was obviously shocked when he learned that Phil was not killed. He's not smart enough to pretend like that. He also hates NY after Johnny Sac played him a few seasons ago. NY isn't going to kill Paulie because he is nothing but a soldier and no threat to their command.
-
Still, what is with the unresolved subplots ????
-
...I say rewatch the episode. 1) Paulie was in charge of the hit on Phil. 2) He was seen speeding away from the Bing after giving orders to Patsy. 3) They were told not to kill Paulie. 4) Paulie knows Tony was close to killing him on the boat early. 5) Paulie is the first to offer to stay with Tony at the house at the end of the episode. When the others opt to stay, he looks upset. HE is supposed to take out Tony. No attempt was made on Tony yet. That's because it's Paulie's job.
-
Junior! He is all but forgotten.
-Junior contacts Tony. They set up a meeting. He points Tony in the right direction with the WAR. Blood is thicker than water. Perhaps he know some of Phil's secrets or inside info.
-I believe that Phil will either die at the hands of Tony, either directly or indirectly.
OR
-Junior provides information on Phil which makes him submit to Tony.
-The series ends with a semi-cliffhanger and unanswered questions, ie: Sil's coma, Junior's status among the family, whatever gem Chase might throw in.
Which sets up a movie. -
Here's an intriguing bit:
Notice the opening hit by Sil, why does the camera linger on those white loafers?
This is a longshot but earlier in the season we saw Paulie's closet has nothing but that particular shoe. Usually I scoff at Sopranos geeks and their wild symbolism theories but Paulie does seem to be at the heart of this season in more ways than one and it only makes sense that a man who everyone considers to be the most impotent player could end up being the "big winner". No matter how it plays out, it'll be a ride.
-
Also, let me add: Last night Chase made the point of mentioning the FIVE FAMILYS. Could this be foreshadowing Phil's fate??? Junior contacts the family in the old country and they take care of Phil?
-
The writers might assume that viewers would deduce that Paulie will betray Tony, and then pull a switcheroo. Or not. I'm also wondering if Tony and his crew will get some 11th hour help from someone. Hope springs eternal.
-
No one has mentioned the scene with Tony and Sil in Tony's garage. Sil says Phil is nowhere to be found. "Gone to Ground they call it," he says. Tony replies, "They who?" Isn't "gone to ground" a law enforcement term?
....plus, when Sil was reaching for his gun, did anyone look at what else was in his bag? I'm going to check it out now because I have a feeling there might be something "rat" related inside. -
If he was, he would have done it in that episode. There was no reason for him to be with Tony, he could have jumped ship to NY right after Bobby and Sil got hit. But he didn't. He stayed with Tony. Paulie is loyal. He loves Tony and he'd go down with him to the bitter end, which I think he will.
-
This whole season has been showing how bad these guys really are, especially Tony. I think we can rule out any kind of "happily ever after" ending (Paulie saves Tony, Junior saves Tony, Furio saves Tony, etc.)
In the grand scheme of things these fuckers have all got to pay. Think "realistically poetic"... -
I think he might do something in desperation, especially since AJ almost did it. He may decide with things caving in around him, that it's the only option. Maybe an overdose and then we'll get some kind of dream/drug sequence and Tony will be reunited with Anabella Sciorra's character. I think Chase will throw off our expectations in major ways next week. This was the war episode. "The Blue Comet" was about action so next week's will be different. Next week's episode is called "Made in America". I'm wondering who's going to get made and how?
-
Since season 3 he's been disgruntled over promotions with Ralphie, favortism toward Christopher, territory with Feetch and assumed the lack of respect shown when he was in jail and at his mother's wake/funeral, which he even brings up in this episode. Paulie has turned he is not loyal. He wasn't loyal to Tony when he was talking to Johnny Sack. And he hasn't gone to NY yet because his job is to off Tony. By staying with Tony he is closer than any of Phil's guys can get. Plus, Tony was thinking about killing Paulie in this season and he knows it. Someone above talked about Paulie "not being smart." Not true. He's survived this long for a reason. He maynot be a scholar but he's far from stupid.
-
...and Herc's right. Best episode ever. If next weeks manages to be better it could be the best series finale ever. Can't wait.
-
Did Tony really have to wait for the FBI to tell him that Phil is coming? After being rejected at Phil's doorstep, Tony should have immediately set events in motion to take him out. What's sadder than seeing Syl and Bobby die is just seeing everything falling apart without any kind of decent response. Tony is simply incompetent. Phil was right to try and take him out for all the wrong reasons.
Enough with the FBI and wires and potential rats. There's one more episode left. Do you really think they're going to arrest Tony and have a trial in that time? Tony either dies, goes on the lamb or ends up in charge of NY (with the support of Carmine Jr.).
Paulie is shaping up to be the "I, Claudius" of this story. He lives because he's considered too incompetent to be a threat. I kind of wonder what's left for the next episode? Jersey's been eviscerated. Will Melfi even make an appearance? Meadow hasn't really been in the show the last season or two (at least, not contributing to the story). AJ has nowhere to go in his story. Junior is done. There really isn't much or a story for Carm either. I hope to hell that they don't do another dream episode again. And I would hope that there is more to it than simply revenge on Phil. Maybe they'll bring back Zombie Livia.
-
one of the funniest lines had to have been from the Italian hitter paid to off phil over in N.Y., who cameto the door with a package....."DEEEE-HAIGHT-CH'-ELL"....hilarious and scary at tha same time....
Also interesting is the the converastion Bobby was having with the toy store owner, about they 'types'of people that used to ride the trains to Atlantic City way back when...and how his son could give two-shits about scale model trains...almost a nod to what a stand-up guy Bobby Bacala was, and how he didn't fit in with Tony's crew of assholes and screw-ups...(remember, Bobby's old man was a true old-school cat too, who went out like a man, after completing a hit when he was near-death) Too bad, Bobby had the mannerisms to be a good boss one day...I wonder if we'll get a line from Junior in the finale about actually liking Bobby, even loving him...
Another thing too...They sent Italian hitters to off bobby (to be one-two steps removed in case of investigation)...so why do two captins from the N.Y. crew pull up outside the Bing, in broad daylight, and open fire in a parking lot in front of witnesses? didn't seem to make all that much sense.... -
It even beats Pine Barrens. One of the most perfectly executed fight sequences made EVER. The Shield has one too...
-
When Tony walks into AJs room and tells to girl to beat it. AJ responds:
"You just storm into my room now? We could have been doing anything!"
"Yeah, but you weren't." -
Having Phil hit Bobby and Sil in broad daylight has a purpose. 2 children were in the store when Bobby was killed. The motorcycle rider died due to the hit on Sil. The law will step in somehow. As for someone pointing out the mis-pronounciation of words on this show, that's a David Chase trademark. On "The Rockford Files", characters who were from "Back East" would mis-pronounce words. One last thing, Tony has that huge house, but in the end the only place he could go was to the old neighborhood and into Uncle Junior's house.-----later-----m
-
Anyone see this?
He threw Carmela's watch and the Cleaver cup.... horrible!
This is the big mafia boss and my 2 yr old daughter can outthrow. -
that wasn't the house at the end that used to be the crack house that got torched and shot up by those gangsters that Paulie paid off was it?
-
you jackasses keep calling their safehouse something that it isn't. it's NOT juniors house!
-
You're right about the kids in the store at the Bacala hit...but what I like about that is that they walked up to Bobby and emptied their entire clips into him and ONLY him..(something I wish these asshole would do nowadays if they just have to kill somebody, don't hit the civillians stupid)...And then they droped the dum gats right at the crime scene as always (why do they do that anyway?)...When they hit Sil and Patsy, they blankly fired away, and could've hit anyone....And yeah A. Swan...I forgot about that line...Ha..ha...
-
For us pathetic bastards that don't have HBO, what happened to Sil? He's comatose? He's dead? Damn vagueness. I wish the lord would take me now.
-
was Funhouse. Pine Barrens was fantastic, but Funhouse had a guy named Big Pussy getting "whacked." Big Pussy got whacked!
-
doctors said he wouldn't regain consciousness.
-
for a possible movie. Still, my other favorite character, Christophuh, is gone for good, except for any possible flashbacks.
-
i think they drop them for the following reasons: 1) should they get apprehended upon their exit, they weren't found to have a weapon on their person; 2) the gun cannot be used for another crime, thereby tying the two weapons together and establsihing a connection; there's gotta be more, but i can't think of any right now.
-
Junior is not fucking coming back to do anything. He isn't going to save the fucking day, he isn't going to "fuck some shit up", he's a broken, senile old man in a nursing home. Are you retarded?
-
Great sight gag! Anyway, I still say that Junior and Tony reconcile. Phil gets wacked, Four Family approved, in a gas station. The series ends with some type of tragedy to Tony's family in a semi-cliffhanger style, leaving open the movie possibility.($$$)
-
No one is saying Junior is coming back brandishing a piece! I believe a Tony/Junior reconcilation will happen. Junior will just provide the method to Phil's demise! Pay a little closer attention to the posts.
-
Will something come of these sub plots? At the beginning of this season it looked like Tony would be put away. One episode left and a gang war has started?
-
His character is wrapped up, as is Melfie, Christoper, Silvio, Bacala and possibly Tony's family since he told them to go into hiding.
The onyl person left I care about is Walnuts. He didn't make it through the 70's by the skin of his balls for nothing. -
I also believe that the Phil situation will be wrapped up in the first 30 minutes of the final episode, sort of in rapid fire mode, as Chase will set the plot, mood and tone for which to end the series.
-
Remember, Chase said in the beginning that he knew exactly how he was going to end the series. He said that in season 1. I'd be surprised if he envisioned Paulie Walnuts turning on him as the ending. It's gotta be bigger or deeper than that - the ending has to revolve around Tony's two families somehow and the message Chase is trying to impart. What that is, I have no idea but I can't wait.
-
In addition to the other reasons listed, I believe it also leaves the cops with less of an excuse to get a warrant if they suspect someone. You can't tell the judge that you're after the murder weapon when it was recovered at the scene of the crime.
I also agree on Junior, they wrapped his story up perfectly. Bringing him out again would only cheapen that. But it does seem like we only have Tony, Paulie and possibly Patsy left. I do think that Carmine Jr. will factor into all of this. He's the only other one of any relevance left. And he was snubbed by Phil too.
I've come to realize that Tony will indeed die at the end, if for no other reason then everyone else has been going out like punks. Johnny Sack, Christopher, Bobby and Syl. If Tony was going to live, one of these other guys would have gone out fighting. Still, it's hard to know what to expect. For all I know, the Russian and Johnny Cakes will team up together to take out all the five families (along with the Bing bartender Tony always use to beat up). -
If you head over to NJ.com they have a Sopranos section with pics of the last few days of filming for last episode. Apparently this was a big "to-do" for NJ. Anyways, 1) the finale scene is at Holsten's ice cream parlor on Broad St. It apparently includes Tony, Carmella, A.J. and possibly Meadow. 2) One of the final scenes was filmed at the now famous Satriale's Pork Store Meat Market set in Kearny. The pic features Paulie and Tony looking relaxed in front of the Pork store. This could mean anything, but I think it rules out the Paulie turn. 3) Maybe most interesting is the filming at Montclair High School
which features A.J. in a new black BMW. Either A.J. is back in school or he about to go Columbine. -
There is something to be said about the Old School Mafia Style(NY Crew) Vs. The New School(NJ Crew). Phil has always been of the Old School, constantly showing frustration with how certain situations were not being handled to his liking(the Death of his Brother, Vito being gay, harping on his time in Jail and what he gave to the 'business') Phil finally busted out and took over the NY Crew with a hit. This is the type of Mafia work that died long ago in real life. The last hits I can remember on the real news were before Gotti was jailed with the infamous Sammy 'The Bull' turn. I grew up on Long Island so that type of news was big, they used to have special Mafia reporters on the NYC news shows(John Miller was on NBC that I remember). The Genevese Crime family was big. That's all dead now. There is no Mafia like the Leotardo crew these days, I think the writers and Chase will consider that with how the finale plays out.
Tony's Crew is new school, and it has a lot to do with the Therapy he has gone through in this series. Tony went a long time in deciding to whack Vito for being gay, and even then, got beat to the punch. Tony has also never been quick to decide to off people, and always leaned towards diplomacy. That is a very 'safe' way to go about handling things as a Mafia boss. He killed Ralphie only after feeling the Pie-O-Mie flambee, not for hitting a made man or killing that stripper. That's not exactly a short rope for Ralphie. Tony also waited forever to deal with Chrissy's drug problem, not to mention that Adriana had been talking to the feds. Old School style of thought probably would have seen both of them with cement shoes.
I could probably write an essay on this topic but I'll keep it short and get my reaming.
As mentioned above, Tony's crew is cautious, they hired the Ital's to do the Hit on Phil. Meanwhile Phil's Capos went to town on Syl and Patsy. These conflicting styles are deliberate, and in the end, I think Phil's Old School style will be his downfall. Going out guns blazing will not work, just like in real life, which this show has done so masterful a job of mirroring all these years.
Food for thought, who's the only member of Tony's crew who is more 'Old School' then the rest?
Paulie Walnuts.
'Remember when is the lowest form of communication.' -
It's because they can always match the bullet to the gun that fired it through ballistics, so if you're found with the gun that matches the bullets at the crime scene, you're screwed.
-
He doesn't have a legitimate beef against Soprano or his crew. He's just lost it. He keeps on bringing up his time spent in jail as an excuse for everything. And whenever I think of him, I'll always think of him recounting the story about how his family's name was misrecorded as Leotardo from Leonardo. He feels like he got a bum rap in life and now wants to make everyone pay. When he was shouting at Tony from his window the week before, I felt like he was channeling Junior in his craziness.
Also, didn't he acquire his postion by default? They kind of glossed over that quickly. He must be dealing with all sorts of legitimacy issues so starting a war with Jersey is in itself a little crazy. Obviously Carmine thinks he's being unreasonable. I was thinking like Fiester too the other night in that his own people might take him out. But his people are no-names, so I doubt that will happen any time soon.
The real question is why didn't Chase save Johnny Sack for this role? That would have been a much more interesting war. Phil in charge of NY is akin to Paulie being in charge of Jersey. Although, with the way things are going, Paulie just might end up there.

Did you see the various shots on Tony symbolising some sort of demise, he was framed from the alley as if boxed in, when he entered the back of Satriales he was framed next to the red EXIT sign, there were more but i'm quite pissed. Awesome episode, by jaw was dropped for the majority of it. It really had a feeling of dread throughout. My fave 3 eps are now:Blue CometToodle-fucking-ooCollegeAnd there's still the finale to go!
-
ITA that Tony should have taken out Phil the moment he returned from the failed meeting set up by Carmine, Jr. And the old Tony would have. The big story arc of this season is Tony's maturing and mellowing just enough to make him bad at his job but not nearly enough to redeem him as a human. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing" -- the message of this season is that a little empathy and humanity is just as bad, if you're a career criminal. It's kind of heartbreaking to show us and underscore the kernel of essential goodness in Tony (who is not a sociopath -- but Phil very pointedly is) and have it be his ruination rather than his rescue.
-
Okay, so this has probably been discusssed a thousand times, but just to refresh ***SPOILERS***

It's pretty much been confirmed through photos and reports of the cast present that Benny shoots Phil at a gas station. The preview for Made in America also shows Phil getting out of the car at the same station, just moments before his death.
The next snippet shows Tony driving, Paulie riding shotgun as headlights are cast upon the weary travelers. Could this be the shot of Tony right before his death?
Stay away from Paulie, T! Get far away from him! For those that say Paulie wouldn't kill Tony, that the irony in Tony considering killing him in Remember When will be that Paulie saves Tony: Don't bet on it. Paulie is a creature of survival, pure and simple. He said himself that during the '70s he survived by the skin of his balls when the Colombos were going at it. Paulie is going to look out for Paulie. Chase has always tried to show us the true nature of these scumbags, he's not going to let Tony go out guns blazing like Tony Montana, and he's not going to let Paulie be the sudden hero that saves Tony. I could very well see Paulie put one in the back of Tony's head, mutter "you fat fuck," and become usurper to the crown of NJ.
I hope I'm wrong of course. -
All the people that are saying this season of The Sopranos has been poor must be smoking crack, or sniffing cracks, or whatever. Since the restart, just about every episode has been immaculate. What are you gimps watching that beats The Sopranos? The Wire isn't on just now, so what? Lost? (2 outstanding episodes out of 23). 24? (erm, the start was good, and the last 10 minutes). Are you down on The Sopranos because you think it makes you look trendy? ("Oh The Sopranos? That USED to be good")What standard are you holding it to when you slate it? Itself? Are you slating it just because it isn't quite up to the standards set by the best episodes of The Sopranos? I can't think of another show that has ever reached those heights, so that's pointlessly harsh. Even the worst episode of The Sopranos this season is better than 99% of TV, so lets have less of it. If you diss T you diss yourself.

Pine Barrens and White Castle...
-
with his power of !FUCKIN' AWESOME!Benny has always been my favorite character. loyal to the end, no pretension, does as he's told, never fucks up. he deserves to whack Phil, if that's indeed how it goes down.
-
and kill everybody.
-
in the preview for the blue comet, right after tony says "talk?" the show a guy at the front door of what looks like livias house holding a gun up to the face of whoever opened the door. this wasn't in the episode was it? any clue it it is and where? could it be from the final?
-
stupid mistake, it's the italian whacking not ukrainian phil
-
When it's all said and done,Tony wakes up and is really the salesman from the "dream" he had when he was shot & in the hospital.I love this show but damn if I don't trust Chase not to disappoint on occasion.
-
...I beleive it is going to be on A&E Wednesday night.
-
but I don't think it will be a letdown when it does. I always thought this series would end with Tony commiting suicide, but after AJ attempted it, I'm not sure. Maybe AJ will end up saving Tony, and die somehow and then Tony might not be able to live with himself. Just another thought. Chase is going to catch all of us off guard with this finale.
-
Just to remind everybody..."All Along the Watchtower" was playing while Tony and Paulie were on the boat and Tony was contemplating killing him. I don't like it either BUT...Paulie could turn.
-
When Carm showed Tony the new E "x" presso maker from Paulie and then made a very passive statement about what' the matter with him, Tony jumped right to his defense.
E "x"presso maker you say????? How about Tony couldn't figure out how to use the machine "...you need a pilot's license to operate that thing." and asks Carm to make him a cappucino.
Chase doesn't insert these things for nothing, like many said before, it's all for the payoff. Tony can't figure out Paulie.
I know Iknow, I don't like it either. -
That this whole mob war will pass with Tony alive in the first half hour... and the once Tony's guard is down he goes to get the paper, sees a duck, and has a heart attack and dies.
-
Yeah I noticed the All Along the Watch Tower. Also, In an episode before Chritaphur is smothered Tony is singing "Comfortably Numb" as he waled down the stairs and then in the car before the wreck they are listening to The Departed Soundtrack, song playing was "Confortably Numb".

sorry

Holy shit, Paulie's going to turn, I'm convinced now.
by american mythos
Just watched Blue Comet again. When Tony and crew are at the safehouse (though safe is hardly the word I'd use), he tells Paulie & co that it's okay for them to leave. Paulie's the first to say "Where the fuck I gotta be?", followed by the fat driver volunteering to stay -- then the young guy that looks like Benny (that wasn't Benny was it?), flops on a chair and sets his gun on the end table. Watch closely. You see a brief look of concern on Paulie's face. He wanted to be alone in that house with Tony. I have a bad feeling.
-
Remember what Phil did to him as part of the feud over Tony Blundetto's actions? Benny got his skull smashed in with a crowbar if I remember so he damn well deserves to get Phil back. Phil's a pussy anyway, he's has a heart attack and he's 66 years old, you could probably kill him with a loud noise.
-
Fucking heartbreaking for Bobby B to go out like that. Silvio may yet pull through, stranger things have happened on this show. I hope, if Chase does kill Tony, it isn't through Paulie betraying him. And whatever else happens, I hope Phil Leotardo eats a bullet and gets fed into Satriale's meat grinder. Nuff said.
-
Okay - a few different things. First off, Phil is getting taken down by the law. Recall that early in the season, they already established the fact there is a rat in Phil's crew feeding the FBI and the motorcyclist getting killed made this more than a "mob thing" and will give them the reason to pinch Phil for it. Second, Paulie ain't turning on Tony ... Paulie loves Tony, his best friend's kid, which is why it hurt him so much to get passed over ... but Paulie is the guy who hung a damn portrait of Tony in his own house on the sly. That's just devotion, man. Finally, Guns are dropped at the scene of a crime for all the reasons listed above, and also because by dropping them there, they don't leave a trail as to where the perps went next. If you shoot someone, then drive 3 miles and pitch your gun and they find it, they then can follow your path and figure out who you are. Also, if you run and are holding the gun and get caught speeding or jaywalking or whatever, they just put you with the murder weapon. If you just drop it, they then have to convince a jury that you were holding it, which is more difficult to do.
-
Just to remind everybody..."All Along the Watchtower" was playing while Tony and Paulie were on the boat and Tony was contemplating killing him. I don't like it either BUT...Paulie could turn.
That's because they are both cylons. -
They're all Cylons! How Shocking!
-
Well, Paulie did say he saw laser beams coming out of Tony's father's eyes.
So why not? T is a toaster! He and Paulie will start hearing "All Along the Watchtower" in the walls of the safehouse and the big reveal will be made. Maybe it will all end with the revelation that Big Pussy, having risen from a resurrection pool, leading a team of Cylons to rescue the NJ crew in the nick of time.
No, this is too much even for me. I apologize and will leave for now. -
C'mon -- doesn't Frank Vincent deserve a break after being whacked in nearly every mob movie he's ever appeared in?
Get your fuckin' shine box, Tony -- Phil's gonna cap your ass. -
"white caps?" the episode when carm leaves tony. that one fucking episode in the fourth season was a workshop in acting. james g. was awesome but edie falco was phenomenal. it was one of the most gritty, human emotion episodes they've made. comments?
-
Chase is the king of foreshadowing.
Did anyone catch the scene with Carmela looking at the photos right before Tony tells her to leave the house? Carmela as Marie Antoinette! Some heads are gonna roll! Maria Antoinette was be-headed! Carmela has often been referred to as the "queen in the big house."
Sh was -
lots of foreshadowing with those ugly white kicks: paulie couldn't stuff enough into his suitcase before the jaunt to florida, sil's victim was wearing them at the time of his death, and sil was polishing his own at the bing before he was gunned down. there's got to be a connection between the shoes!!!
-
Yes that is an incredible episode.
-
ive been convinced.
-
A good point was made that virtually no film or TV series is shot sequencially. Another thing is that from time to time directors (Chase is Directing the Final) shoot fake scenes and endings to throw off the public. Especially scenes that are done in the wide open public (like an ice cream parlor). Just food for thought.
-
I've always believed that Chase will end it with a Tony dream sequence. So the scene itself is NOT that vital to who survives.
-
after tony dies, he 'dreams' that he is serving all those that he killed. they all share a banana split, float, and have a good old laugh.
-
I know most are dismissing it, but I believe the Junior will provide Tony the guidance that will lead to Phil's demise.
-
The show begins with two of the New York capos being shot and killed - score two for the Jersey crew. Phil has another heart attack and dies. Carmine Jr. takes over whatever is left of the New York family and there's peace again with the DeMeo family in New Jersey. Patsy Parisi was pinched following the hit on Sil when he went to the hospital for his gunshot wound. Meadow announces her engagement to Patsy's son just as Tony gets taken into custody by the FBI creating an awkward dramatic situation. Time will jump forward at the end of the episode with Tony being convicted on all his RICO counts and sentenced to prison. David Chase's Sopranos family saga comes to a close with an opening for future film installments.
-
Its one of the worst kept secrets that Phil gets wacked at the Raceway Gas Station in Jersey.
-
would the NY boss - AFTER giving an execution order for the NJ crew - ever go to a piece of shit gas station in dirty jersey? makes zero sense with what we know now.
-
**According to Gary Dell'Abate (aka BABABOOEY)of the Howard Stern show. He received an instant message stating that at the funeral of Bobby Baccalieri, a bomb planted by the two individuals whose name Tony Soprano turned over to Agent Harris is detonated. It is unknown whether the individuals who are listed as deceased above are killed by the bomb.**
.......from WIKI -
...saw this episode along with the clip of AJ's suicide attempt this morning. Good stuff.Hopefully someone hooks me up next week as well!
-
1) while the Phil wacking was filmed at Raceway gas station in NJ, it may not necessarily be the location in the plot of the final episode.
2) The assault rifle given to Tony by Bobby for his birthday is an AR-10, NOT a M-16. -
Shit! I think you might be really on to something there. Apparently Frank Vincent who plays Phil was being interviewed on some show and the dude conducting interview said something about 'heads will roll' in final episode and Frank laughed and implied that he was more right than he knew. I think I read that yesterday earlier in this talkback...Also to the guy who compared this season of the Sopranos to the Star Wars prequels...What the fuck?!!!
-
Well, not exactly, but my predictions based on all the different things I've heard. Nonetheless, if you wanna stay completely spoiler free don't read any more...
OK, so everyone is convinced that Benny definitely takes out Phil at a gas station. So in that respect I reckon Tony survives the turf war and I'm starting to suspect Paulie stabbing him in the back is a red herring. It seems too obvious for Chase...he's practically given us that on a plate. I'm also thinking indictments/RICO case is too obvious and boring. Witness protection...we've seen it all before.
I'm convinced that the whole Phil thing will get resolved and it'll appear like all is back to normal. Suddenly, out of nowhere there'll be a terrorist explosion (didn't someone say in the preview of the episode they see a reflection of an explosion in AJ's eyes) Someone mentioned earlier that some dude on Howard Stern said this would be at Bobby's funeral...revenge by the two arabs Tony informed on. Them and Agent Harris have had such a strong presence throughout season, I refuse to believe that story isn't going somewhere. Also, AJ has been obbssessed with terrorism too. One of the last shots of Blue Comet is Tony noticing a terrorism website on AJ's computer. This is my major prediction though...the bomb blows someone's head off! Someone in the Soprano family and my money's on Carm. Revengeflicks mentioned earlier the foreshadowing of her as Marie Antoinette (who was beheaded) when her and Ro were looking at the pics of France. Also, Frank Vincent's comments regarding 'heads will roll' in final episode. One way or another some poor fuck is getting decapitated. One last thing, the title 'Made in America' would be fucking ironic if terrorism story plays out, no? I could be way, way, way off the mark here, but fuck it, it's fun to guess. -
I like it. It sounds pretty good.
-
it's patsy. earlier in the series, it was patsy who almost tried to shoot tony outside the pool while the feds watched his drunk ass. it was him who spoke to chris's middleman for the hit. paulie passed it on to him, "it's all yours." he was also the one who bitched out and ran away in the midst of the shooting. four men, right in front of each other, and only one gets hit? patsy's never done anything major for tony, he's just been there. at least paulie sees tony as a son. and now that his mom's dead, the only family that he has is the only relevant one to show at the funeral; tony. he had some shady looks and situations, but at the end of the day, paulie wears his heart on his sleeve, and when the guns go blazing, paulie's will be aimed at the NY crew
-
Chase would screw up the series by doing that. Paulie, sure, he had some N.Y. connections, but he's always been loyal, and we've seen NOTHING to indicate otherwise. Throwing that into the final episode just for kicks would suck.
Major characters just aren't moles without us seeing some progression and the proof -- Pussy, for example. Would his whacking have had any real impact had it been a "surprise!" episode? -
Heres how it breaks down:
Phil gets wacked at the gas station.
Terrorists find out Tony rated them out. They plant a bomb at Bobbies funeral. Tony cannot be there right away. KA BOOM! Carmella litterally gets her head blown off. Tony blames Phils crea, grabs his machine gun (that gun HAS to come into play here) and wastes the entire Philly mob at their hangout. Feds show up, cuff Tony. Last scene: Tony in prison, on the phone, talking to Paulie about how 'MADE IN AMERICA' aint what it used to be. That ties up ALL loose ends. What da ya think? -
God, I hope not.
-
Everyone keeps giving their speculations as to what will happen in "Made in America", but anytime anyone mentions a terrorist attack, it throws what could have been a plausibe idea into "24" far-fetchedness. This isn't 24. There's not going to be a terrorist attack. And come Sunday, I'll saw my foot off and eat it if there is. As for the light reflected on AJ's face, it's either a) a car bomb planted by NY, or b) the Sopranos family home getting blown to bits by a NY-planted bomb when Carm goes to open the door because she wanted to grab something. Families don't get touched my ass. This is Phil we're talking about. His brother, who albeit was in the mob, was his family nonetheless so, at the end of the day, he can't see the distinction. Think about it - have you ever seen Phil suffer a crisis of conscience? Everyone else has suffered this, EXCEPT for Phil. Also, I keep hearing about the heavy symbolism this season. To me, Tony and AJ walking together down the hall of the hospital signified, if anything, that they would survive, maybe even be the only ones that do. If I were chase, that's how I'd end it. Tony and the son he failed over and over left to pick up the pieces.
-
Tony Hawk makes a grand appearance at the Bobby wake, only to bust out probably one of the sickest skateboard moves since Christian Slater in Gleaming the Cube. Unfortunately the board gets in the way of Carms head and neck and she is decapitated, oh well, but it's a sick move nontheless.
Meadow decides to drop law and go into the hooker business with AJ as her pimp. The first 20mins we see AJ smacking her ass around telling her to STFU BEFORE I PUT A BULLET IN YOUR HEAD BI*CH.
As for Tony, he gets an out of the blue call from none other than Furio who is at Newark airport wanting a ride to Jersey City. He's broke and has no cash, and he's calling using an AT&T card that he stole from AJ while AJ was in the shower once. Tony picks him up and Furio gives him road head.
Paulie is disgusted by what is happening to the family and decides to move to France to set up shop as a fag video dealer, selling the hottest gay prons on DVD.
Phill is seen donning a pink dress as he skips down an NY street, he has lost the plot and is mentally ill, obviously. He waves a plastic dildo in his right hand.
The rest of the NJ crew commit suicide by eating a bag of 6000 goldfish...EACH.
The last scene we see Meadow taking on 10 guys in an ice cream parlor, totally naked. AJ stands in the background counting some fat cash. He looks at the camera and for the first time in Sopranos history he talks to us. He says HEY, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? IDIOTS. PEACE! -
I do know what you're saying, but for me the slow burning nature of the first part of the series has only made the second rollercoaster ride part of season 6 more impactful. I'm well aware that the majority probably don't share this opinion...just look at the comparitive lack of interest in this talkback. I'll be so sad to see it go, as many have said before me, even the worst episode of the Sopranos shits on most other shows out there. I do agree that the terrorism angle seems like too much for the Sopranos but I'm convinced someone will be losing their head in an explosion. Perhaps both Carm and Meadow bite it and Tony is just left with his fuck up disappointment of a son. I'm actually nervous about watching this final episode, really don't think it's gonna be pleasant. -
Chase has said that he has always known how the series would end. In the pilot episode, the whole reason Tony gets so upset when the ducks leave (and has his first panic attack which lands him in therapy) is that the ducks leaving symbolised his fear that something would happen to his family. Just as he has had 6 series since then to stop this possibility ever becoming reality (ie by getting out the business) Carmella has remained complicit with his evil deeds, despite opportunities to get out (the divorce) or warnings against staying with him (the therapist she visited). I think Chase has always planned for Tony's real family to pay the price for the crimes of his mafia family.
-
Sil killed a guy who wanted to make a move to NY. Paulie, as insane as he is will remain loyal to Tony.
Tony will survive and be the one to finally whack Phil. -
Wrote this to my friends, and thought I would share this with AICN types. Enjoy.
This is all speculation, but since it is top-flight speculation, you may want to avoid it as it will be SPOILERISH.
You have been warned.
Alright...
.....here we go.....
...the person who dies is Meadow Soprano (alas). I have a few reasons for this.
The first thing you have to decide is if someone in Tony's immediate family dies. Thematically, they've been developing (for multiple seasons) that the Sopranos have been amassing quite a butcher's bill for their lifestyle. It's not enough for Tony's business dealings to cause him issues, the rest of the family needs to pay their price, too.
David Chase revels in dangling plot threads and misdirection, so despite how things might seem on-screen has generally not been an indicator of what to expect in the show. There are few things, though that point in the direction of what we see being what we are going to get:
- This season has been heavily laden with symbols. Nothing subtle, but rather quite heavy-handed like toy trains derailing or Tony retreating to the womb of his mother (hiding out in her house). What this indicates to me is that if you stop and read the tea leaves, what you devine is probably a good indicator of where things are going.
- Last episode featured a conversation between the Sopranos and the Buccos that was very American Beauty-ish. For the one and only time I will ever mean that as a compliment, it means that both Carmela and Tony have sold themselves on pleasant fictions so they can sell everyone else. They are now equally complicit.
- In a moment of high tension, Tony reminds Carmela and the audience that families are off-limits. Carmela buys into it and we are meant to as well. This reminded me of how word got out that Spock was going to die in Star Trek II, so they wrote in the Kobayashi Maru sequence as misdirection. By isolating Tony, the focus gets put on him and we view the last episode as Tony's judgment. It will be, of course, but not as a matter of life and death. The symbolism of the entire show, and particularly this season, is that families the price, not just the mafia men.
So if this is the Sopranos' time to pay their price, let's run down the checklist. Janice doesn't count, even if she lives or dies.
A.J. is both a product of modern society and his family's influence. If he died, many watching the show would view it as a mercy killing. I do not think Chase is feeling particularly merciful so AJ living seems the most suitable punishment for both him and his parents.
A few seasons ago Carmela went to visit a gruff psychologist who told her what's what in no uncertain terms. At the end of their session he said two important things to her - he wouldn't take her blood money and now she couldn't say she was never told. From there through last week's episode, we saw that Carmela has made her choice in full. It's not enough for her to die, she needs to see her world torn asunder. That's what the Bucco conversation indicated to me. Dying is too good for her.
Dying is too good for Tony, too, though I stake Tony's survival on my long-held belief that the show will end with Tony going to the Feds. How else could it end for a man named Soprano? It's time for Tony to sing, and he'll do it to protect what he has left and of course most of all to protect himself. Think about the people Tony had surrounding him - nobodies, save Paulie, who Tony was pondering killing mere weeks ago. When push comes to shove, Tony will quickly realize that the people he might have cared to protect aren't around and the people left (those in his crew and those trying to kill him) aren't worth the risk to his own welfare.
This leaves us with cute little Meadow. The kids have always been simulacra for the sins of their parents. We have watched as Tony Jr. has traveled the path of his father, becoming a gross, even more broken of Tony Sr. As for Meadow, well, Meadow's name has always been pregnant with possibility: you reap what you sow. Who knows what Chase has had in mind, but her name will be the ultimate telling symbol for what Tony and Carmela's life represents.
Meadow isn't entirely blameless. She had an opportunity to escape: education, good looks, non-mafia friends and social life, but she never managed to break free. At times, increasingly so this season, she gave herself over to it like her mother. Again, the simulacrum for her parents' choices. Meadow also learned the hard way not to date mafioso (or in her case mafioso-wannabes). She didn't quite learn from her grief over the death of Jackie Aprile Jr. and now she's going to pay the price.
That's because it seems to be a fairly significant plot development that Meadow has chosen to date Patsy Parisi's kid. As much as the producers seem to have a fetish for filming gangsters lurch awkwardly through the divets between properties, it is a telling sign that Patsy escaped the hit on him. If Silvio's being incapacitated opens the door for Tony's betrayal of his friends, Patsy's escape opens the door for Meadow's demise.
Patsy, knowing that family is off-limits, will selfishly go hang out with his son. Meadow, thinking family is off-limits, will go visit the son. The problem is that there's some bad blood regarding Meadow, Patsy's son, and some mafioso who got beat up a few weeks ago (I missed the episode). This is one time all the factors come into play and, whether intentionally or caught in the crossfire, Meadow pays the price for the choices she's made and Carmela and Tony pay the price for how they've chosen to live and raise their children.
Sic Transit Meadow. -
You talk alot of sense my friend
-
Phil's hit order on Tony was unsanctioned..Enter Junior..Phil's demise..Carlo is the Turn-coat..he called for pizz and gave address..A.J. will finally step up, because of witnessing a tragedy..Made in America....
-
...But what will that tragedy be? I think Phimesto's theory regarding the whole Meadow getting killed cos of her involvement with Patsy Parisi's kid is a strong contender. Why else set up that storyline? Plus Patsy escapes the hit. Plus the curb stomping Tony dished out cos of what that NY guy said to Meadow. Of course, could be another red herring by Chase.
-
Its gonna end in a massacre with the rifle Tony got from Bobby
-
It was honestly a true "sleep on it" moment. I was thinking about the show last night when I went to sleep, and I kid you not first thing I thought of when I woke up was the jumble of everything I wrote above. Normally, I wouldn't put too much stock in having Meadow dating Patsy's kid. Let us all remember how Finn escaped his horrible raping by either living or zombie Vito (though there's still one ep. left to go, I suppose). However, the show this season has marched grimly forward with determined purpose. The effect of having a finite number of episodes left means (or so I predicate) that Chase has to show his cards a little more openly. In other words, I confess to cheating a bit - using a combination of thematic guesswork mixed with production realities. Chase could completely surprise us with something else, but as best I can see, this is where things seem to be leaving.
-
I see one of two scenerios, and both involve the explosion that everyone says that AJ witnesses. I'm pretty much thinking that it's a car bomb, but in what scenerio: it's a bomb meant for Tony, but instead Carmela and/or one of the kids (Meadow?) get taken out; or, after Phil is taken out, everything is business as usual, or so we think, and Tony gets into a car, turns the key, and BANG! Just because Phil is out of the picture doesn't mean that there's still not a hit out on Tony's head. Just another possible direction this can go in.
-
I just sent them to Herc. Let's see if he will post them.
-
Could be. I know this for sure: -The Tony/Junior reunion is inevidentable. -The whole Phil/NY hit will be wrapped up in rapid fire sequence within the first 20 minutes of the finale. -Paulie is NOT the turncoat/traitor.
-
...the fact that even though phil will be killed, the hit will still be out on big T. and there's no way herc is going to post any pics.
-
A bomb is going off. Somebody in the Soprano family will have their head graphically blown off. Tony will go bezerk and use that gun on anything that breathes inside of Phils mob hangout. Oh, and Phil will get wacked at a gas station.
-
This will be handle quickly by the other four families. In case Herc doesn't post them, the pics are of Tony standing over Junior in his wheel chair. One of Junior and with Uncle Pat and a close-up of a Junior. These are all in the new state run mental institution that Junior is tranferred to.
-
So true... just cos Phil is dead, doesn't mean at all that they're safe, the wheels would already have been put in motion. Perhaps they go back to the house thinking all is safe...Meadow and Carm first through the door and KABOOM. AJ witnesses his mama/sis' head go flying. Fuck me that would be harsh. Horrible to watch actually. Wouldn't it be one of the most iconic moments in television history though to see the Soprano house get blown up, and such a symbolic statement. The ultimate materialistic possession funded by evil that symbolises the family. To destroy it in such a dramatic and violent way plus maybe taking out one or more family members would be an unbelievably powerful, unforgettable statement.
-
Bangs the sister, kills the family's,runs NY and NJ. Then gets emotional and goes to the restaurants and get some "johnny cakes". Why's gotta end like that why.
-
Okay here's the low-down, don't read this if you do not want to ruin the last episode. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Tony wakes up in the morning after falling out of bed, the comotion alerts some of the guys downstairs who rush up to see what's up, Tony almost shoots them.
They all have gay sex.
Roll credits.
Oh yeah and Meadow does anal with AJ. -
That's what I ment about Tony having to back to the old neighborhood and the old house. That house is an icon and represents everything the Sopranos family had been striving for since World War 2.-----later-----m
-
Well some of them. I saw a promotional copy of the last episode and while it did not include the last minute I saw enough so here we go. No joke.
- AJ's car catches on fire while he is hooking up with his new girl. Very symbolic if you remember how they got that car.
- Tony gets AJ a job in the entertainment industry because AJ was going to join the army to fight terrorism.
- Tony goes to Junior and Junior has no idea who Tony is.This is after Janice goes to him to try and get after his money.
- Phil Leotardo gets hit. He is killed by Benny at a gas station and then gets his head run over by the car he was in.
- They find Phil because the FBI agent that Tony has been helping tells him where Phil is.
- While Phil is away Tony has a sit down with New York and they agree to lay off and also say they would not mind if Phil is gone.
The last scene they are sitting in a diner with Dont Stop Believing by Journey playing. REALLY REALLY intense and right when the conclusion is about to play out my copy ended.
Come back Sunday night and call me a liar but no one will need to.... -
That sounds pretty lame and like total bs. If there was a promo copy it would have leaked by now. I call BS.
Or can anyone vouch for this guy?? -
Come back Sunday night and call me liar. You will not need to. Also like I said when the episode cuts off Tony, Carmela, AJ, and Meadow are at some diner and they are building the tension up something fierce. Really intense scene.

That would really be a letdown and something I'd expect. Afterall, I haven't seen a good series finale since I've been watching TV. I mean, fucking Voyager built up for seven years only to arrive at a deflated end to say the least. And this sounds like another delfated climax to an awesome show. However, in the pictures of Phil at the gas station, he is shown slumped against the pump and his wife running frantically to check him - so how can his head get run over by the car he was driving, which is actually the car his wife is driving?
-
He added the Benny hit on Phil, that I posted several days ago and wrapped it around a couple of silly scenes. (Don't Stop Believing????) You notice that he doesn't mention who the turncoat is? No mention of the safehouse.
-
He also wrapped it about my Junior theory.
-
screw that guy.
-
I read Peter King's CNN football column. He mentioned in a recent article a scene being filmed at a NJ Ice Cream shop. That could be the diner mentioned.
-
No mention of the safehouse you say? That is because nothing happens there. Phil gets whacked and they make nice with New York and everyone went home. One thing I left out is that someone is testifying to Grand Jury and Tony's lawyer says he has a 80-90% chance of being indicted in 3-6 months. They said they thought it was Patsy Parisi. Paulie thinks that a cat is bad luck and wants it gone. He also turns down a promotion based on superstition. That is the extent of his involvement in the show.
-
I thought I said the car Phil is riding in. He gets shot, his wife runs around to him and leaves the car in gear and it rolls over him.
-
If that's really what happens I'll be bitterly disappointed. As anxious as I am about seeing it, someone in Tony's family MUST die, it would be the only fitting end...the natural conclusion. From the very first episode, all signs have pointed to it. While I dunno whether or not he's seen it, he does seem to imply the missing footage from his 'promo tape' could have been something major. Then again, how convenient is that?! Maybe he has seen it, maybe he's just an attention seeker...come Sunday we'll know. If he is full of shit, I for one will graciously accept his invitation to come back here and 'call him a liar' Anyone else wanna RSVP?
-
... I already have to be here to saw off and eat my foot if there's a terrorist attack in the show.
-
That's always been the beauty of the show that always pissed people off. The show has always had plotline threads that just go away. It's not written like television or movies, it's written more like life where things just happen, or they don't happen. TV and movies are always cause and effect, life doesn't necessarily work that way. The series may end with life going on as it always has. I have no issue with everyone surviving, killing people off or having people 'leave' in a series conclusion has always been lame.

The copy I saw was dated 5/15/2007 and cut off at 59:32 but ran with blank screen until 61:04. I watched the last scene, or what I had off it and......
- Carmela tells Tony that Meadow was going to the doctor to switch birth control.
- When Meadow shows up she is having trouble parallel parking her Lexus.
- AJ bitches about his new job
- Tony tells Carm about he Grand Jury.
- When Meadow walks in they focus on two black guys instead of Meadow. Meadow walks through the shot but the focus was on them.
- There is a shifty looking Italian guy at the counter of the place that Tony seems to be paying attention to.
- Some biker looking guy drinking coffee solo.
- The last line before it cuts off is "best onion rings in jersey"

Here are some links to some pictures off of the HBO site; looks like Uncle Pat makes an appearance, too:

Made in America" is the 86th episode and the series finale of the HBO original series, The Sopranos. It is the ninth episode of the second half of the show's sixth season. The episode was written and directed by the show's creator David Chase, marking the first time Chase has directed an episode since the series premiere. It is due to air on Sunday June 10, 2007. David Chase is said to have shot three different endings in case spoilers found their way on the internet. The episode opens at a gas station in upstate New york a couple pull up to a pump in a red Cadillac. It is revealed to be Phil and Patty Leotardo. Phil gets out and begins to fill his tank when Benny Fazio approaches him from behind and shoots him twice in the head. Benny runs and gets into a sedan driven by Patsy Parisi and the two speed off as an african american youth onlooker throws up. We see see Tony Soprano, Paulie Walnuts, Carlo Gervasi, and Dante Greco playing cards in the safehouse from the prior episode. Tony gets a call from Benny on a payphone. He says "The Shaw's gone," and hangs up. Tony get up and motions for Paulie to follow. The two get into his Escalade after putting his AR-10 inot the backseat. The two drive to Satriales and sit outside all the while discussing days past in Johnny Boy Sopranos heyday. Paulie is working on his tan and Tony is smoking a cigar when a black Cadillac sedan approaches. Little Carmine Luperatazzi exits the backseat while the car drives around the corner. They seat themselves across from Tony and Paulie and begin to discuss recent affairs. After many malaprosims from Carmine and some moronic rambling from Paulie Tony laughs and interjects saying he is proud to be present at the first sit down between the new bosses of New Jersey and Brooklyn. Paulie and Carmine both appear shocked and Tony tells them its long over due and Paulie has been passed up too many times. Tony leaves the two and goes inside to speak with Agent Harris. Who is seen sitting in the back corner. Harris acknowledges Carmines presence and asks if hes to take that Carmine's the new boss of Brooklynn Tony tells him to, "Take whatever the *beep* you want and take one last Veal Parm Hero on the house." We now see AJ, Carmella, and Meadow in a motel room. A knock on the door prompts Carmella to remove a .45 automatic from her purse and walk to the door and ask whos there? Meadow reading the paper and AJ watching t.v. are both scared. After a long silence a familiar voice say's "A loving father and husband." Carmella opens the door and Tony and Paulie enter they all leave and go back to Casa De Soprano. After arriving home Janice Pulls up, leaves her kids there and her and Tony leave. Leaving Paulie to guard their respective families. The two arrive at a state hospital where they enter one at a time to talk to their Uncle Junior. Janice goes first and the two discuss moving him out of the hospital and Tony comes in to talk with him. The two make small talk until the shooting comes up. Junior apoligizes and said he was out of his head and that he always loved Tony even when he didnt show it. Tony and Janice return home around night fall and Tony and Paulie leave again Carmella is worried and Tony tells her not to worry this is the last time he will be leaving like this. Paulie and Tony are sitting in his car at night in an empty parking lot as the snow is falling discussing Paulies promotion Tony says he will be happy to be Consigliere to Paulie. When headlights shine upon them. The two get out and walk toward a parked SUV. When Butch DeConcini and Albie Cianflone exit it and walk toward them. They discuss peace and Tony tells the that if ran under Carmine, Brooklyn could expect no porblems from them. They shake hands and Tony suggests a drink to celebrate. Tony walks back to his car and opens the backseat. Tony pulls out a large object covered in a black plastic garbage bag. Paulie runs off to the side and throws himself down and Albie and Butch pull ot pistols but are too late when the garbage bag erupts with machine gun fire. Tony helps Paulie out of the snow and the two admire the AR-10 and two dead bodies. Tony looks the gun over and admires a phrase written on the stock. "Made In America." The two then drive away. We see the Soprano home at daylight the next day Carmella is in the bathtub, Meadow is asleep, and AJ is unlocking the hidden gun closet in an indoor column. he removes something and then goes outside. We see the pool once again uncovered yet empty and AJ is sitting in the botton holding a hand grenade. He pulls the pin out and holds the handle he hesitates and throws it to the other end of the pool it blows up dirtying him. Carmella comes outside with her .45 and nearly shoots her son. Tony arrives to see him sitting on the couch being questioned AJ says it was so cool. Tony laughs and writes it off and tells everyone to get in the car. Carmella asks where there going and Tony replies, Out for ice cream. We see a number of things in the final scene Paulie the surviving Jersey crew with Carmine and his crew having dinner together and toasting the two's promotions. Silvio's heartbeat monitor going flat. Janice in a small home with her three kids appearing miserable. Agent Harris arresting the two muslims from the Bada Bing apparently making bombs. Pat Blundetto breaking Junior out of the state hospital.Dr. Jennifer Melfi Smiling alone in her office while reading about the recent gangland slayings and Anthony Sopranos apparent stepping down as boss. Finally we see Tony and his immediate family together at an ice cream parlor.Tony then tells his family that hes no longer depressed and that being with his family and them being safe was better than all the therapists and Prozac in the world. It just took all this *beep* to make him see it. AJ says he's happy just to be alive and that hes snapped out of it aswell. Tony proposes a toast to his family mirroring the season one finale "I Dream Of Jeannie Cusamano".

Boy, I wish I hadn't read that. It sounds the most plausible of anything I've seen, and neatly ties in all the little tidbits that are floating around about this episode. If this isn't real, it's a brilliant fake. Can't wait to see what actually happens. Cheers.

Wikipedia articles can be contributed to by anyone. Plus, some things were left out. I can't name them all, but I'll try a couple. There is a picture on HBO.COM of Tony visiting Janice, who's sitting in a lawn chair on the deck of her house. Where's that scene? Plus, the light reflected on AJ's face is from him throwing a grenade in the pool, while standing in it? And the blast dirties AJ with chunks of upturned Earth? And then the whole family laughs it off and goes out for ice cream? Right. First of all, the light reflected on AJ's face looks too big and burns too steady to be a quick maelstrom of dirt and concrete. And wouldn't a grenade blast that close have knocked AJ on his ass? One more thing about this supposed grenade in the pool -- in the preview where the flash is reflected on AJ's face, he is standing against a treelined backdrop, not a pool wall. This sounds like just another fake spoiler cobbled together from previews and images easily available on the web. Though I'll hand it to whoever made up this crap -- the AR-10 being labeled "Made in America" is so far the best and coolest explanation for the title I've seen.

...takes it in the butt by Benny and Paulie in a threeway. Tony videotapes the whole thing and calls it MADE IN AMERICA, he then sells it online for millions.
AJ takes it in the butt and commits suicide after Tony forces him to make a gay pron video.
Carm gets her head blown off by Tony in a freak sex accident involving Agent Harris and the two arabs from the Bing.
Robert Deniros cameos as a fluffer girl.
I GOT IT FROM TEH WIKI!!!!!!!!!11111111111123 -
I told you what the flash was. AJ's SUV burns down while he is about to have sex with his new girlfriend who by the way is a junior in high school. There is no grenade at all in any way shape or form. Carmela never touches a gun. Janice is irrelevant in this episode. The last 25 sentences of that Wiki article are total bullshit

to know which way the wind blows. Tony's best line. Ever.
