Hey! UK AICN READERS - Here's A Hot Fuzztival for you + a DVD signing with the boys!!!!
Hey folks - Harry here with a note from Edgar Wright regarding an event he's hosting in London... with a live commentary for HOT FUZZ thrown in. You UKers often gripe about having the short end of the stick, but this time, that short end is being fellated nicely. Get your ass in line and get in. It'll be a blast! Here ya go with the details...
Come to The Hot Fuzztival
It’s Free!!!
Join Hot Fuzz Director, Edgar Wright at the Prince Charles Cinema on June 10th as he takes you through his film inspirations for the action comedy box office smash Hot Fuzz. The film out to own and rent on DVD from June 11th will be shown along with exclusive live commentary from the director and cast from the film in the evening…and it’s all free!
Showing times are as follows:
11:00 Hard Boiled
13:45 Last Boy Scout
16:30 Point Break
20:00 Hot Fuzz with LIVE AUDIO COMMENTARY FROM EDGAR WRIGHT AND CAST FROM THE FILM!
Still not persuaded? Well here are some wise words from your Hot Fuzztival host…
“Hey muddy funsters. Join me at the Prince Charles Cinema on June the 10th for a marathon of hot cop action. Not only will we screen three of our favourite actions films, but you will get to see a totally unique live commentary from myself, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as other special guests from our Bad Bobby opus HOT FUZZ.
And who can argue with the triple whammy of John Woo's classic HARD BOILED, the bruising, hilarious LAST BOY SCOUT and the palpable homo erotic tension of POINT BREAK.
I will be your host for the day, will join you in watching the marathon of bad-assery and will be flinging a few goodies and surprises your way.
Come join. First come, first served. And totally free.
Get there early. The hardcore will be duly rewarded.
Edgar”
If you’re one of the few yet to see Hot Fuzz it offers a hilarious and ultimately British take on a classic Hollywood genre. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is the finest police officer London has to offer, with an arrest record 400% higher than any other officer on the force. He’s so good, he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, Angel’s superiors send him to a place where his talents won’t be quite so embarrassing – the sleepy and seemingly crime-free village of Sandford.
With garden fêtes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation. He finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just when Angel consigns himself to policing wilderness, a string of outrageously violent and bizarre ‘accidents’ lead him to believe that Sandford is not as idyllic as it initially seemed.
Determined to investigate these mysterious ‘accidents’ with his loyal partner PC Butterman by his side, he sets out to uncover the dark underbelly this small town could be hiding. Is Angel simply losing his mind in the safest, sweetest village in Britain? Or is something far more sinister at work? A small village is about to get some big city justice.
The film also features a killer supporting cast including Jim Broadbent, Timothy Dalton, Edward Woodward, Rafe Spall, Paddy Considine, Billie Whitelaw, Anne Reid, Olivia Colman, Bill Bailey, Martin Freeman, David Bradley, Stewart Wilson and Paul Freeman and plenty of other INCREDIBLE surprises!
Don’t miss out on the MUST OWN action comedy of the year on DVD 11th June.
There's also a signing with Edgar, Nick and Simon the day after the Fuzztival (June 11th to be exact - ie UK DVD release day) at the HMV - 150 Oxford St. London W1 The Sharpies start flying at 1pm. More signings to be announced soon, but that's a definite! Enjoy, you lucky Londoners!

...or had the cash and the free time to head over from NYC and wait on line overnight. Wow... wouldn't it be great if they did they same thing here? **HintHint** - BTW, if you haven't seen Hot Fuzz yet, do so ASAP. It's even better the second time around.
-
The size of the Prince Charles cinema being what it is and considering how many rampant fans there are in this country I reckon you'll have to be in line outside the cinema pretty damn early in order to secure yourself a seat, still it is mighty tempting, I might have to make a trip up to London on the Saturday night with a sleeping bag in tow.
-
Funny movie.
-
to see 2 of the 3 films that were originally cut for cinema by the BBFC? Hard Boiled had 3 seconds cut from its first cinema run, and 25 seconds was cut from Point Break!
And believe me they'll be too tight fisted to buy a brand new uncut print.
Also FUCKING London!!! What about doing something original and bring the festival all over the country, or perhaps do signings in various cities in the UK, if they want us to see their movies or buy their products, then they should at least make a fucking effort and tour the fucking country that made them originally famous.
AndrewWanKenobi you wouldn't want to live in London, as it's an overpriced shithole. -
Just because YOU can't be bothered to travel this small island of ours.
Sounds great. I'll be there! -
i just might pop along, if anyone wants my autograpgh, please ask nicely
-
That's probably even cooler than the Hot Fuzztivals we had here in the States.
Damn you. Damn you all to hell!!!
Not really, but still, you lucky bastards... -
i'll take a night on the pavement defo
-
how many opprtunities do we brits to have a chance like this? never! like advance screenings? never!
and good luck with the night on the pavement, i'm sure the clubbers on a saturday night will enjoy peeing on you in a doorway. Not only that its fricking hot now, if you go to the cinema and site next to me without showering it'll be clobbering time -
I really wish i could go but i live in manchester and im scint so train fair is the problem

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright already toured the UK to promote Hot Fuzz earlier this year and visited various branches of HMV around the country signing autographs and having pictures taken. They were all really friendly and down to earth, so to say they didn't make an effort is a bit of a joke. Plus, the amount of time they spent touring the rest of the world with this film, making personal appearances to introduce the movie and then Q&A's afterwards, makes you look like a bit of a fool for having a pop at them. If you feel so strongly about this to vent your spleen in such a way, I'm surprised that a trip to London is such an effort for you. Although saying that, I also share your dislike of London, but it is the capital city after all and will always get things like this ahead of places like Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester.

Why do all Londoners forget that the world exists beyond the city?

That thinks this film is hit and miss?! I didn't see it as a perfect film (like I did when I saw Shaun). Don't get me wrong I thought it was funny at times and I love the guys who make it but there are three major issues I have (i) The biggest being it runs waaaay too long, should've been a 90min flick not a bloated two hours. (ii) The kind of horror element didn't really work for me - felt like a step backwards imo and (iii) I wasn't as interested in Pegg and Frost's charcters asn much as I was in Shaun, this is possibly because they ain't playing average jo in this flick, i guess they were ok characters. Then again I think I'm comparing it to Shaun too much - O.K I'll take the last one back - first 2 still count though. I still Can't wait to see more films from these boys in the future though!
-
Won't be there as it's in that faraway shitehole London (if you've never visited, consider yourselves fortunate, as it is a dour, expensive, smelly place populated by some Biblically rude people) and also a nasty attack of having to work that day. Still, respect due to Edgar and the boys for putting the event on. Here's fully expecting to hear the live commentary from this event on the special edition DVD when that gets released...
-
What an amazing film. One of the last great action films made before incomprehensible camerawork and manic editing took over.
-
LordPorkington, they travelled to Milford (wales), Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham, and London, hardly a huge UK tour.
Talkbacker with no name, seriously why would I want to travel down to a shithole also known as London -
The fuzz is coming town!
Quit ya whining and get your arse down here, bud. -
I have lived in London all my life, but I don't feel like that at all. I know what you are saying, but we are not like that in reality. Believe it or not we are not unlike yourself in all ways. Knock down that invisible wall in your mind and let's live in peace, man. Come join the fuzz party. You are more than welcome.
-
Anything above the south of england does not really count now, does it?
-
Someone moans about something, and then another talkbacker replies with something lighthearted, unlike a particular country, where if someone moans and it's like the McCarthy witch hunt, and they're tarred and feathered out of AICN. It's good to be British.
-
James Cameron with Avatar, Spielberg with Interstellar or Chris Nolan with The Dark Knight i'd probably go but it's Hot Fuzz....good film, but the most overated of the year...so far.
-
I weeps for joy.
Sadly Its my friends birthday ad that takes precedence otherwise I'd be there like a shot. -
my 'Batman the Movie' video!!!!
-
Why not a UK tour? Give us Scots a chance?
Still, great flick, definitely buying it!!
-
Like I already told Floyd_Dylan, you missed the boat mate. They visited Glasgow (5th February), Newcastle (6th February), Manchester (7th February), Birmingham (8th February) and Bristol (9th February) prior to the UK release date where the first 20 people in line at each branch of HMV were given exclusive tickets for a screening of the movie and a Q&A session with Simon, Nick and Edgar after they'd done an autograph signing in the store. So why not travel down to London (I'm from Newcastle) along with myself, Floyd_Dylan and Talkbacker With No Name and we'll all have a few pints of Newky Broon on me as we celebrate being British and have a laugh at the Americans. And before the Yanks in here get pissy, I'm marrying a lass from Connecticut, so you can't *all* be bad! At the end of the day, we should all be proud that these canny lads are from our side of the pond and have more talent and humility in their little fingers than most people in Hollywood combined.
-
Disgraceful!
I'd be at this screening if I wasn't planning to get utterly shitfaced at The End the night before.
