30 ROCK!! HOUSE!! SMALLVILLE!! Barney Fife at $19.12/Season!!!! Herc’s Season-Box DVD Vault!!

Published at:  May 30, 2007 6:50:39 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

“Well, I guess to sum it up you could say there's three reasons why there's so little crime in Mayberry. There's Andy. And there's me. And (pats holstered Colt .38) baby makes three.” -- Mayberry deputy sheriff Bernard Fife

I am – Hercules!!

The Andy Griffith Show is the best sitcom of the 1960s. It’s true Don Knotts left the franchise after season five – but he still won Emmys for guest appearances in the series’ final three seasons. There were also shotgun-toting hillbilly Briscoe Darling, rock-lobbing mountain man Ernest T. bass, the blonde Fun Girls (Skippy and Daphne) from neighboring Mt. Pilot and the self-incarcerating drunk Otis Campbell.

The new set , which includes the episode of “The Danny Thomas Show” that introduced sheriff Andy Taylor as well as the 1986 TV-movie “Return to Mayberry,” sells for $152.99, which works out to only $19.12 per season or 62 cents per episode – a big reduction on the $225.49 being charged for previous, less-inclusive complete-series set.

Insano-Cheap 69% OFF O.C., Bitch!!
Two weeks ago Amazon was selling the first season of “The O.C.” for $51.99. Right now DeepDiscountDVD has the first and second seasons for $40 and the third season for $25.87.

Amazon’s prices as I type this:
$21.99 The OC: The Complete First Season
$21.99 The OC: The Complete Second Season
$22.99 The OC: The Complete Third Season

I don’t recall Amazon ever discounting those extra-crammed supersized (27 episode) first season adventures of Seth Cohen to below $50 before, let along to less than $22. I actually don’t recall seeing “OC” that cheap anywhere (and I’ve been looking for it)! Do not expect those prices to last!

The link only takes me to buy the UK Region 2 dvd of the show. And I can't find a single listing anywhere for a US release. Guess I'll just have to wait longer for official US releases of Big Train and Spaced.

    Andy Griffith

    by bloo

is simply the best sitcom of all time. Lucy gets the Love (hee get it I made a funny), but Andy had the quality and the consitiancy. It's kind of like in rock and rol, Elvis gets the attention is "the king" blah blah blah, but when it comes down to it, Jerry Lee Lewis, bill Halye, Roy Oberison, Johnny Cash, etc will always be better.

had so much potential, great show that really got into its stride quickly, but not quick enough for fox where it cancelled the show after 4 eps. its also vastly superior to how i met your mother which started at the same time

    by order66

Grell's "Jon Sable: Freelance" was fantastic. It always seemed to demand a live-action treatment. Too bad the series didn't last, but I'd love to be able to revisit it on DVD. How about that 90's era series that ripped off it's entire premise (minus costumes) from the DC Vigilante comic? Anyone remember that one?

    by jacklint

I bought the R2 version a couple years ago. Any Simon Pegg/Spaced fan owe it to themselves to get it. Like any sketch comedy its got hits and misses, but overall it's totally worth it. Even the not so funny sketches are very watchable because of the fantastic cast. Kevin Eldon, Mark Heap, Simon Pegg, Julie Davis, and Rebecca Front are all hilarious. Look for the "wanking" and "birth mother" sketches on youtube. Great Stuff.
