UPDATED! STAR WARS ANIMATED: TALES OF THE NEW REPUBLIC Teaser Trailer!!!
Hey folks, Harry here - Well STAR WARS is 30 years and a day old... and this morning, for Moriarty's 40th Birthday - we have a present for him. The first trailer for the STAR WARS ANIMATED SERIES - TALES OF THE NEW REPUBLIC. Now - this is cool - but it also seems stiff and floaty - like none of the characters have any weight to them. That said - when Thrawn showed up - I jizzed like Forrest sitting with Jenny. It was AWESOME! Here check it out for yourself - and wish Moriarty a happy 40th!
Harry here - I'm about 99.999999% sure that this isn't official. If it is official - wow they need to work on it. If it is fan made - nice work, but you're still not all the way there... though I love the Thrawn - a lot.
Kevin Rubio sent me this - check it out and support the effort, if you see something you like. It's going to a great cause.
May 25, 2007
In celebration of the 30th Anniversary of STAR WARS, I am auctioning off a copy of my Dark Horse graphic novel Star Wars: Tag & Bink Were Here, on e-bay’s charity site – “Mission Fish”.
It is the story of two rebel pilots who avoid capture on board Princess Leia’s ship, The Rebel Blockade Runner, by disguising themselves as Stormtroopers. This leads them on an adventure through the galaxy – crossing paths with every major character in the STAR WARS universe, and affecting the fate of all they encounter.
The Tag & Bink series was named one of the top five STAR WARS comics of all time, by Wizards Magazine. They also included the graphic novel on their 2007 list of “must have comics for your collection”. In addition, The American Library Association named the T&BWH one of the best graphic novels of 2006.
The copy that I am putting up for auction was made available by the generous contributions of Dark Horse Publishing and Lucasfilm Limited. It contains all four episodes in the series and has been signed by myself, the artist Lucas Marangon, my two brothers (on whom Tag & Bink are modeled after) and the creator of the STAR WARS UNIVERSE himself – George Lucas!
A letter from LFL will be included in the sale of the graphic novel to attest to the signatures authenticity and all proceeds from this auction will go to NARSAD - The largest donor-supported organization in the world dedicated to supporting research on brain and behavior disorders. Their mission is to raise and distribute funding for the most promising psychiatric research in order to develop new preventative measures, better diagnoses and improved treatments for severe mental illnesses.
This is a tax-deductible donation.
Many Thanks,
Kevin Rubio

I've been waiting for this
-
but not as cool as clone wars
-
The animation is incomplete. Like the overall fell of it.
-
Goddamn EU shit.
Bring it on. -
feel of it.
-
I'll still watch it though
-
But that's some very lame animation. I am realy not excited about it. Feels very bland with bad character animation. No soul and no emotions what so ever in this footage. Come on Lucas, give us a real teaser!
-
Which, of course, makes me more right! He with the power to silence you - is always right, BITCH! -- Just kidding? Have you sent Mori a happy 40th yet?
-
If you go to the actual YouTube page you can read the following "A 'what if' teaser in the style of a cartoony animated Star Wars show" done by some fans.
-
The animation is really quite bad. What's with the giant-head and arms bullshit? It looks like *I* made it.
-
40?!? You don't look a day over 200. Peace out y'all!
-
40, you say? Have a good one, mate!
-
happy 40th, mori! as someone who turned 40 last week, i can tell ya that it's all right on this side of things.
-
But it's a fan trailer then? Not the real thing? Sighs in relief for as a fan trailer this is pretty cool stuff.
-
That and the weird look Leia gives after stroking R2.
-
Happy 40th Mori.
-
... is what those characters remind me of. I mean, did the first sabre-fight scene look just like the infamous puppet-fuck sequence, or is it just me?
-
...some love for John Wayne?! I love these Star Wars as much as the next movie geek, but the Duke would have been 100 today. Come on Harry! What's Rooster Cogburn got to do to get some love around here?!
-
Dealing with established EU chracters? I guess that could work. They would have to do a Kotor story though!
-
Now, I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, but that looked just fucking stupid. Why bother? Making it, I mean, why bother makin this? Not why bother seeing it, I'll probably see it some time, but yeah... you know what I mean.
-
Oh, and Happy 40th Mori!
-
Shannara is coming to the big screen.
-
Lucas Blows.
-
He's hands down the best character from the expanded universe.
-
Vader looks pretty weak, Fett on the hand nice.
-
Mostlikely a fanfilm...or that is the deduction many have come to.
-
My one and only wish is that Lucas would make a movie that fucks up the whole of the post-ROTJ EU. I want that because people often look upon it like canon material. Now suck it hard.
-
Two things: (1) John Williams' music touches my very soul; (2) This visual approach is perfect for Star Wars, and I'm actually looking forward to it. No, three things: (3) Samuel L. Jackson Toon spin-off series NOW! Okay, that's it.
-
Nice to see Bay didn't get his hands on this one to rape the designs and change everything.
-
are you fucking kidding me? the space battles looked pretty damn good but the character animations and related actions sequences looked like shit.i thought cel shading died after viewtiful joe hit its peak... it should've anyway.
-
Their website has a much higher quality version of the trailer and some of the textures look very, well, amatuerish, as does some of the animation. Still looks great mind, but not something professional (professional = money thrown at it, I'm not saying the guys doing this aren't highly skilled, they clearly are).
-
Jesus were all getting too old for this shit.
I'm sad to say that that trailer looks like shit, and im not saying that to be hater. It just looks really badly done. -
Almost looks like it could be Team Alderaan: Galaxy Police. Alderaan! FUCK YEAH!
-
Seriously...this can't be official.
-
Happy 40th, Mori! Thanks for posting the trailer. The show looks interesting, if a bit lightweight, but Grand Admiral Thrawn showing up is a good sign. That guy was a way better villain than Palpatine ever was. He was far smarter, more cultured and layered than any of the Sith. The tactics he used to win space battles were drawn from a far deeper and more sophisticated place than any of Vader's lieutenants possessed. And his overall goal -- to destroy the Jedi by ridding them of the Force by acquiring an organism on a distant planet -- was something other commanders should've thought of long ago.
I never read "Outbound Flight," but reading Timothy Zahn's "The Thrawn Trilogy" was like a breath of fresh air. Zahn's accomplished style and dramatic storytelling ability was a kickass upgrade to all things Star wars. I hope he was an advisor for "Tales of the New Republic."
We'll see. -
If they were in fact making this show. What gives? I'm sure they have ALL the actors from the films mapped into a computer in the ILM archives. Why don't they use the 3D models there to make the show? I mean they already have the character models there so there's a big time saver, it's pretty much just about animating the models and inputting the FX. I just don't see the reason for the oversimplification of something that should be groundbreaking.
-
It's nowhere near spectacular enough....mind you neither did Clone Wars....ahhh, I'm a longtime fan of Star Wars but I'm coming to the conclusion that it's success has everything to do with John Williams score, Mcquarrie's designs, the fast editing etc and balls all to do with Lucas. Listening to the man speak makes me wish I was in a coma.....
-
No it's not official, but it's better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QD9-tFTifY8
-
this isn't the clone wars show we're waiting for is it? this looks fake and shit!
-
When the day arrives, will you squirt for me, too? By the way, I wonder how many other than pursued_by_bear will think you were serious about threatening to ban chrth? It's nice to see you get a little playful.
-
The design is hideous. If you're going stylised, great, but get someone to design it. Don't just vomit it up. Dodgy proportions does not make a style. And the movement? Here's a tip - hire animators. Seriously. I mean, you even use the word 'Animated' as part of the title. I would have thought a natural step would have been to hire animators.
There has been better (and better designed) animation on, well, just about everything. Ever. Now tv budgets for animation are tight. I know that. But, jesus, look at it.
This is like that first Jabba in the SE of ANH - there are thousands of animation companies crying out to work on a Star Wars project and, yet, when you see the results, you can tell whoever worked on it didn't give a rat's ass about it. Where's the effort? If you worked on this and are reading the talkback, I'm sorry. The comments on this one are going to sting. It may well not have been your fault. -
...that's my reaction too - looks like it's going to suck balls....thrawn's plan was to rid them of the Force using an "organism"? Christ am I glad I didn't bother my arse reading the Eu novels now! Hahaha....reckon I'm through with Star Wars, everything since Phantom leaves a bad taste in my mouth. :-)
-
Besides the fact that it would turn him into one of the neocon fascists he loathes so much, he always sends Herc or Mori over to do his dirty work ;)
PS: Harry, are you back from Eastern Europe? How'd I miss that? Welcome back! -
I have to say that I am at least AS excited and entertained by most of the stuff you guys post about on this site. But you guys always talk about getting erections, and cumming over certain bits of news. I know its supposed to be "a figure of speech" but I don't think it ever helps state the case you are trying to make. You just come off as lame. "Oh that movie was so great, my dick got really fuckin' hard, and I just started stroking off, RIGHT THERE IN THE THEATER! WHAT AN AWESOME MOVIE! Just ask the lady sitting in front of me whose perm I blew a load into! She was kind of upset, I guess, but she had to realize before she walked into such a masterpiece that there would be cum flying left and right. It's her fault she didn't wear a trashbag to 'Monster House'".
-
...monster house? My brother rates it, I thought it was wildly derivative moderately entertaining but that's about it...still the animation compared to this "trailer" looked like it came from the far-flung future.
-
Because the animation and camera direction are horrible. The animation is not stylized its just bad....although I did notice in the new star wars that some of the "added" shots were just not composed well. That toon shaded look was old 5 years ago... that cant be real.
-
I take all that back of course. Why the double standard? Because it takes a hell of a lot more work to put something together without studio resources.
-
I think some very industrious and enterprising fans put this together. It's a good demo reel if it is fake. If it's legit Lucasfilm product, it's weak.
-
big bro. Hope it's a good one for ya!
-
I share this view; great from a fan, crap if it's Lucasfilm.
-
I just threw up my Apple Jacks. That looks so frakking terrible. WTH?
-
for more scenes to be finished. I honestly hope they'll get the fluidity the animated shorts had. So I'm not gonna make an opinion on it yet...
-
God bless man.
-
Looks like this year your main present is a fan-film, don't worry though, I'm sure the little presents will make up for it.;-)
-
Looks like CGI Bluth designs.
-
And thank God it sounds like this was just fan-made!
-
How would you explain this?
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.aspx?menu=523&company=39 -
What a shitty syle they picked. George Lucas is on a roll.
-
..it is fan-made, otherwise I want the job of going to Lucasfilm and slapping them all shouting, " Wake up! Goddamn it, what do you think youz are doing?!? Get a grip on this! This is your main cash cow!! If the money-milk stops flowing you're all out.of.a.fuck.ing.job! Are you listening to me?!? Put it in the bin and start AGAIN!"
That would be a great job to have....;) -
is the music. Happy B-day, Mori, whoever you are...
-
In case you couldn't see my link, Big Bad Toystore has Star Wars figurines that look exactly like the ones in the video. If those are fan made too, then damn that's one hell of a production.
-
"noooooooooooo-oh!"
As they say in that Galaxy Far, Far Away",...:-(
Let the slapping commence! What the hell were they thinking? Is there a proper show on the way too? Or is this the best they could do? God! What a flaccid cock of a show it looks like being....argghhh -
...it doesn't seem as old as I used to think.
-
And happy BDay!
Lucas needs to just go ahead and film the Zahn Trilogy as the final three and call it a day. I'll NEVER forget how completely blown away I was with those books, and I still enjoy going through them from time to time. -
Well, it is STAR WARS. Why would you expect soul and emotion?
-
like some fan did it with his busted mac or something. oh well.
-
everyone who posts in or reads this talkback.
Nothing you can do to stop it, hater. -
Can't....resist....must....watch. Fucking A. I am going to get all excited and watch this cartoon and in the end it will probably suck.
-
GlenyD, you're right to be skeptical about Thrawn's "organism" plan. I probably didn't describe it well enough to make it exciting. But rising above this new show's suspect animation, Thrawn is THE reason to want to see it. For all who didn't read Zahn's books, the battles Thrawn engages the Republic in are insanely huge and scary. He utilizes weapons Lucas's movies never would've considered due to brutality and human rights issues, and The Grand Admiral isn't overconfident like Vader and all the Sith's uniformed boys.
I don't know how much of a role Thrawn will play on this new show, but it's nice to at least see him in it. I'm generally a Star Wars hater since I firmly believe Lucas ruined the franchise, but Zahn's story was written outside Lucas's influence. It was written with a writer's flair for the dramatic, a plausible, huge-scale buildup, and a more kickass ending than "Return of the Jedi" ever delivered.
These are just my thoughts, I realize. But it's cool to see the BEST character Star Wars ever created finally given time onscreen. Hopefully "Tales" didn't ruin it. -
done with Star Wars now; no more encouraging girlfriends who haven't seen it to watch it...it was a freak being any good....from now on I shall sing the praises of Williams and the editor rather than the film.....
Aye, I think it's time the Lucas history book was revised to read, "got lucky...then made a cock out of himself". -
I'd love to see some of the New Republic stories put to film, but this wasn't quite the way I pictured them looking. They're like Playmobil figures! Can't we tighten up the characters to look a little less like a preschooler's toys?
-
....sounds ace! I'd like to see that....but not in an overly cartoony way; I'd love to see a darker more adult version of Star Wars with actors who can actually act in it rather than the Rogue's Gallery of chancers who got in the prequels...
Haha, true story - I once dissed Robin Gurland as a casting director on Star Wars.com and got my account "frozen in carbonite".:-) Hehe, well somebody had to tell them she was no good. ;-) -
No TM or Copyright logos. Lucasfilm would never omit the critical comma found in "a galaxy far, far away." Heresy!
-
you KNOW this to be true...
-
Lucas talking about this show as being "revolutionary" and ushering in "a new era and standard of CGI animation on television"? Was he talking out of his arse or what? It certainly looks that way. I'm paraphrasing of course, but he definitely said it was going to be THE thing in terms of computer animation...looks like they made it on a Commodore Amiga....
-
I've seen Pre-Vis that were better than this. Ugh.
-
Thrawn, Mara Jade, this is def a fan made trailer. like others have said, the animation is not even close to what Lucasfilm can dish out.
-
wha hoppin'?
-
Harry and Ingraman ruined my dad! haha, just kidding, Ingraman, thanks for the confirmation link. (note to others: delete spaces when you copy and paste link). This is horrible. First the prequel trilogy, then crappy animated shorts, and then this. Star Wars kinda blows now. They should have just had Bioware produce a KOTOR mini-series.
-
Oh yeah, and this trailer looks like a video game cut scene--yawwwwwnnnnnn.....
-
Why is everybody bouncing around?
-
You know what, Veni Vidi Vici? You're right. This is a fan made trailer. The big question mark ("?") at the very end of it says it all. LucasFilm would never do that.
Merrick, you might want to think about what you posted. -
A question mark at the end is the clincher. I'm not sold on it.
Now, albeit I didn't spend a lot of time animating this (I slapped it together in a matter of weeks), here's another little "animation" to sit through.
I'll clean it up someday....
http://www.bennettanimation.com/robert/TESB_002.html
(As I recall, AICN leaves a space when posting links, so remove the space when pasting the link). -
I just checked the toys link; I took the posters word for it but then thought, I'd better check.:-( This IS without a doubt the real McCoy....The pain is almost unbearable...it's like watching someone kill themselves slowly.
-
Sorry, Merrick. I meant HARRY might want to think about what he's posted. My bad.
-
Absolutely terrible character design and animation. I HOPE this if fake, but I fear it's not. That's the worst character design and animation I've seen in a long long time. If this actually came out of Lucasfilm, they need to let some people go. And I'm not just being mean, I'm just stating the truth. That would barely get a C- from an animation student. The environments and ships don't look half bad though.
-
I don't like the designs either, and would be disappointed if this was the real animated project we've been waiting for, but it's very ambitious and impressive for a fan made project, WHICH IT CLEARLY IS.
I don't think Harry believes it's real, I suspect he is just being sly by putting it out there without explanation, and assumes we are all intelligent enough to see that it is not a real trailer.
There are many tell tale signs (not-too-professional designs and animation, the word "animated" in the title, WAY too much attention to nerd details like stupid fucking Thrawn to be the project Lucasfilm actually wants to do, Mace Windu still being alive.) But most importantly they have already announced that the animated show is Clone Wars and released a poster which shows beautifully rendered 3-D versions of the Genddy Tartakovsky character designs. So why would they suddenly pull a U-turn and do a completely different show in a different, clearly not as good style?
And in case none of that registers, there is the question mark at the end which shows that the people responsible for the trailer weren't trying to trick anybody either.
Even though I don't personally like that style I am very impressed by their work. It must have been fun to make. -
Check the Leia toy! Do it now; yes, you and you, everyone do it, and then cry; cry for your hopes and dreams (relating to Star Wars) as they crumble to dust before you.
Waaaahhhh.:-( "Mommy, the bad man George ruuuiiinnneed it". -
No way is this official. The music jumps, the animation is crap, the question mark...I've got some huge doubts about this.
Whoever made it did a good job on the space battle stuff, but the characters look horrendous, especially Leia. -
April Fools Day was well over a month ago. This ain't funny.
-
They're doing two shows....and this is the one for kids? Right? Right? Someone please tell me I'm right.:-( Also the toys link...surely it must be real, Leia anyway, the toy even says "star wars animated" on it! :-0
-
The cynicism on this talkback is laughably unbearable, I find your lack of faith disturbing......
-
...no way is that a Lucasfilm product. But you can a lot of Nerd Love went into it.
-
Welcome to the new world of LucasFilm's overseas outsourcing.
-
Nice animation, Bubcus Robert. Liked the kinetic action and the fact bodies and pieces of ships were floating around at the end. That gave it more edge than anything I've ever seen Lucas produce.
-
Riiiiigggghhhhtttt....this is naff! I mean from any point of view (even a Sith's) it just sucks...it can't be defended...i've put faaar too much faith and benefit of the doubt in Lucas over the years; not this time though...oh no, those days are gone my friend.
-
The animation looks like it belongs on weekday afternoons on Nickelodeon right after Blues Clues. Besides the fact that it just plain looks bad, it also doesn't even remotely fit the tone of Star Wars. Looks like Lucas in all his abhorrent stupidity continues to think that Star Wars should be aimed at insulting the intelligence of children.
-
Damnit! Please let this be a goofy fan animation!
-
What the fuck?!
-
...if this had been my birthday present, I'd send the person who gave me it a turd in a shoe-box for theirs....quality tip for Mori there.;-)
-
That looks so bad hahahaha that's hilarious hahahahahhaha
-
There's a big question mark at the end.
All I want to see out of a Star Wars animated series is "What if" moments. What if Thrawn and Darth Revan take on Boba Fett and The Exile!!!!!!!! -
If by real we mean "rendered on Imagine 3.0 by a fanboy. Using the latest Amiga Workbench and a 40 megabyte hard-drive. In 1995." Come on AICN, this is embarrassing. Surely you didn't think this was officially Lucasfilm produced material? Come on. And what gave it away the most: no voice acting, only music. Obviously fan made. Sure, it takes talent to do these visuals by yourself, in your house with a humble PC. Then it's commendable. But if it took a team of professionals and Lucas Money, then it's seriously laughable.
-
So I will watch. Not sure I like the "style" though. The space battles will rock but the character designs are.....odd.
-
...I think the Lucasfilm bunch are just putting the "official" Star Wars mark on any old piece of crap production as they think it'll get bought indefinitely...boy, are they in for a nasty end game surprise! "Caravan of Courage" anyone? :-s
-
That looks like ASS! I cannot freakin' believe Lucasfilm would put their name on such an amateurish piece of crap. Are you kidding me?
Eh, it's a shame we'll have to wait for George to die before we get a proper DVD release of the OT, which remains the only SW-related product worth having. -
Moriety is 40, pretty much a grown up. Harry's not too far behind and has a mouth that'd make a sailor blush. When we going to get a Harry animation of him jizzing on stuff? Would fit the personality.
-
...his character would be castrated by being in a cartoon. No way he'd be the bad ass he was under Zahn.
-
No, those have nothing to do with this trailer. "Animated" in this case means they are made to look like the style of the Clone Wars cartoon, not that they are promoting an actual animated project. And if you look at the toys they are NOT the same designs used in this trailer, they are Clone Wars/Tartakovsky style. And photos of those have been available for months. (And do you see the name "Tales of the New Republic" on there? No.)
If you don't believe me then fine, but I'm just trying to save you some stress. -
fact that the official show is called THE CLONE WARS.
-
ADVANCE the story. No more prequel garbage. MOVE THE STORY FORWARD. If this is on the level, sanctioned by Luca$film, and to be considered canon, I'm in for the full ride. It's about time.
-
Then IT is fake after all!:-) Aces! Thank you Sir, you've made my afternoon! Thank the Maker.;-)
Ps I still think George has lost it rather, and Gurland definitely sucks. haha. -
Emphasis on "IS" not "IT".;-)
-
if this takes place between 3 and 4...why was mace windu there? or is there another bald, black jedi with a purple saber?
-
On starwars.com as of yesterday they had an ad for a "special surprise" which would appear on Sunday at 11:30. The ad was illustrated by a Clone Wars style CGI Yoda. So I assume that will be when a real trailer for the real animated series will appear.
Today the site is completely redesigned and I can't find that teaser anymore, but there's also no mention of "Tales From the New Republic coming soon?" Just Robot Chicken, Clone Wars poster and a fan film contest (which I'm sure this is already entered in). -
Obviously its fake, the quality leaves so much to be desired. And George Lucas wouldn't allow it. It would have to have the same quality as Clone Wars. Plus, the New Repulic and still, some scenes are from the Old Republic and some from the Emprie, yeah, its fake allright.
-
A man can dream.
-
version of it here...and The Tales of the New Republic website is registered to tucows.com...hummm
http://tinylink.com/?ifb72a9yqQ
-
This is fan made unless there's a story of how Mace Windu survived his confrontation with the Emporer
-
My God I understand if they want to aim it at a younger crowd but I'm pretty sure most kids would say this looks like crap too.
-
.... but this does absolutely fuck all to me, seems like a poor attempt to make a bit of money.
-
Like, Grando Calrissian.
-
This looks to be based off of the Gentle giant "Animated" series of figures they've been putting out. I wonder if it's them just doing a one off for fun for the celebration.
-
it is a pleasant surprise to see han, luke and boba up in there. BUT the animation is way stiff. i just watched STORM HAWKS on cartoon network last night, and the animation was much better! and storm hawks is over 1 year old. lucas outsourced this animation to sinapore and china, and it shows. lucas, get the show done by american animators, who know what they are doing, and fix this up before its release!!!
-
I mean, come on.
-
but i'll watch it anyway
-
May 26, 2007 12:20:13 PM CDT
looks like the guys who made Ninja Turtles made it....
by lhombresiniestro
But, of course I'm gonna watch it....
-
something, but i doubt it's lucas film
-
The section of the X-Wings sweeping over the AT-AT is a direct swipe of the animatics done for 'Han Solo's Revenge'.
-
It does look okay for cel-shaded animation, not CGI. Easy to churn out a show for kids. But there are some fairly good tracking shots that suggest it's authentic.
-
There is no way on Gods green earth that a studio with the kinda money and talent that Lucas has at his disposal would churn that out. I'm not dissing it; i'm just saying that its certainly below acceptable standards for TV broadcast.Looks like, with Leia at least, they've used the SW:Anime toys for their models. But there are several things that seem to consider.1.Why is Darth Vader in New Republic story?2.Why is Thrawn in it? I seem to recall Lucas saying that the new books etc weren't canon; it's his sandbox and he'll keep it that way.
-
...but if it's real, we're going to have to see some serious storytelling power to put up with that stylization. As someone said above, awkwardly-angled faces do not a style make. Definately forgivable if it was just made by some devoted fans. I really doubt it's real, though. Where's the Lucasfilm logo or any other Lucas propaganda? No mention of Lucas? Obviously the fans making the film don't want to get sued or shut down. Then there's the fan-based focus on Boba Fett, shots of Thrawn and Mara Jade that only hardcore Star Wars nerds would care about (and who generally have not been pandered to by the official Star Wars machine), and of course the COMING SOON...? at the end. Looks like Harry jumped the gun on this one.
-
I watched this and said to myself, "Move along, this isn't the Star Wars I am looking for."
-
And on the can, I crapped out that trailer almost exactly as you see it. Granted mine had some lettuce in it, but besides that, it was spot on.
-
Even at its most bad-ass, Star Wars is still loved by kids.So why not go balls-out and make a Starship Troopers (the CG show) style CG show of Star Wars?
-
Have a Great one!
-
But I could use more Star Wars in my life.
-
That might look acceptable for a Star Wars Lego commercial, but as an actual series, made by people who specialize in CG, it's looks like garbage. I've seen animated fan toons that look far better than that. I've seen cut scenes in Sega CD games that looked better than that. Why make something look so bad? I'm not talking style, I can understand it's stylized (TMNT), but this looks like half ass CG done on a 50MHZ Packard Bell. Maybe this is fake?
-
I love vegie tales! Darth Cucumber and Han Carrot! Wait...its supposed to be serious? Oh..
-
as in terrible, and not bad-ass. Are you sure this isn't fan made? It's yet another reason to hate Lucas. Let's move on.
-
Hire a Mocap team, or just use the Easy Ease button. they all look like droids (or the Hall of Presidents) with the way they move.
-
Looks like Ray Harryhausen meets Team America. Animated with a C64.
-
He and Lando are the only darkies in the whole universe.
"Hey, I was only joking." -
Impressed not much am I. The animation looks ropey ( hard to judge on youtube I know ) and the character design looks childish. The Clone Wars designs were admittedly not everyones cup of tea but at least had some style...
-
So...why didn't they just get Genndy Tartakovsky? Was he just too good for them?
-
it's a fan film, a "what if" trailer. However, I am dissapointed that it is not legit. Yes the character animations are a little stiff but with a start date estimated at next year that would have left alot of room for fine touching to be done. As far as a fan made piece goes this is by far some great animation and I hope these guys keep up the good work!!!
-
like, storyboards or something...this will now be refered to as "Star Wars Bionicle: TAS" till further notice
-
...the animation quality looks like a 10-year-old videogame cutscene.
-
...Leia's boobies look huge !
-
...having done animation before it's extreamly fucking hard and monotonous, especially if you have time constraints, i.e. a day job. I think these guys did a good job with the time and resources, of course it's rough it's a fan film, but I think it looks a whole lot better than most of the fan films I've seen. Now if it turns out to be a LF viral trick and it is legit then we can talk, but as I said before I think that a year or so of fine tuning on the character animations and adding some good mo-cap you'll have some top notch work.
-
It should look like Starcraft II cinematic trailer which kicks ass...not like this. Hope this is a joke.
-
I'm talking the animation. The "30 years ago" part looked ridiculous and the "story continues" part looked only slightly better. We'll see, I guess.
-
it looks like it needs to be render .... SORRY LUCAS THIS LOOKS REALLY SILLY
-
...geared to 30 year old geeks you best toss those desires aside cause it ain't happenin. I tossed that aside after episode 1, I saw where it was going and accepted that it wasn't going to be what I'd hopped for with the course of Star Wars. This does look well done and despite a few drawbacks in the character animations everything looks good and matches the style of the gentle giant animated maquettes.
-
enjoy it with your yung'in

I am one of those dorks that pay attention to canon..
by cotton mcknight
so here's my question- will this be the "official" story of what happens after star wars? I got to tell you, I never gave a damn about the EU stuff because it wasnt the official story. As far as I was concerned, it was no better than fanboy fiction.
-
Why would there be recreations of scenes from the original movies, plus EU stuff, plus prequel stuff, yet it's called Knights of the Old Republic?! That doesn't make sense at all. Plus, as everyone else has pointed out, the animation is utter toilet.
-
well then like I said, fuck it. I don't pay attention to anything that isnt part of the official storyline.
-
I'm not 40 and HE KNOWS IT! True... I may be staring down the barrel of 40, but I'm not there yet! ARRRRGGH! Just for that, I'm going to tell you his dirty little secret. Harry's only marrying Yoko because she got him pregnant. SO THERE!
On the other hand, I appreciate the well wishes over everyone here who is not named Harry Knowles. -
No it's not a fan film. It's being done in Singapore and Taiwan. I should know, I was asked to work on it. I'm glad I didn't. Now please, everyone...shut up.
-
This is a fan film, hence why I feel people are beeing to overtly critical of the animation. This isn't some pro from dover animation team from ILM this is probably one or two dudes fucking around with lightwave which I say right fucking on guys that looks tight. As far as canon goes, I think the EU has some interesting stories I don't follow it too closely just because of the shear volume of stuff that's out there but I've read some stuff that's good and some stuff that sucks just like anything else it's worth checking out some of the stuff like the Zawn stuff and Kevin J. Anderson's stuff has been pretty good as well. One guy who's stuff has been good has been the guy from Bioware who wrote the KOTOR book Darth Bane. Just a few suggestions.
-
Still doesn't make sense to show anything from OT or Prequels if that's the theme of this series.
I'm quite sure it is fake anyway. There seems to be an abundance of fake scoops showing up on this site recently. C'mon Hazza, sort it out! -
there's no need to pretend, it's ok to be 40.
-
Happy Birthday Drew.
-
the stuff is cut in as reference to the previous films, I do believe there was a trailer for episode 2 or 3 that did the same thing. So it's kind of in the style of that trailer.
-
Harry's baiting you...I think I wanna see a flame war FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!
-
I've been coming to the site since '98, had other login names and even been banned by you a couple times. Flame wars, good times. But I've mellowed with age, as have you. So happy bday, man, and congrats on your screenwriting success.
-
for clearing that up. As a fanfilm, its actually really good. If it was official, then not so much. Regardless, I hope this demonstrates that I don't just eat up everything star wars- I DO have at least a little bit of objectivity. When I thought this was official, I was critical. Of course I mention this because I am known as a huge prequel apologist, so there you go. Well anyway, it really would be cool to have a "new republic" animated series. I really hope it happens, and I hope they integrate the best EU ideas into an official storyline.
-
If this thing is real, I'll gladly polish my bell-end with sandpaper, then soak it in malt vinegar and give what's left to next door's alsation to finish off -
Like that?
-
...even if this turned out to be a viral thing and it was official, everything I've heard about the animated series is 2008 so it's still at least six months to a year off and there's alot of tightening up that can be done in that time. Besides it's about the story not necissarily the quality of the animation, hell people loved the Marvel animations stuff (Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2, Iron Man) and really the only one that had half way decent animation was the first one and even that was just a hair better than your average Saturday Morning fare but it had a good story and good voice acting, that's what makes animation. Besides I have trouble believing that with the insane popularity of some of the garbage on Adult Swim that anyone can talk shit on the quality of this.
-
...the animation in the new Transformers movie looks great but that doesn't mean the movie is going to be worth two turds in the coat aisle.
-
You could get smoother Star Wars animation flipping through a book of stamps at the post office. How on earth does anyone believe this is real?
And happy 40th Mori. -
When I had my 40th, that's when I started drooling through my false teeth and when I started wearing Depends 24/7. I have much more confidence now.
-
Now that your legal, could you buy me some beer? LOL...have a great one!
-
Please be fan made, Please be fan made, Please be fan made, Please be fan made, Please be fan made, Please be fan made...That looked like proper dog-toffee. If this is even remotely indicative of what SW Animated will look like, then GL truly hates us all, and SW is truly dead.
-
By the way, what is the talk of "sex?" The word sounds familiar, but...no, that was too long ago...
-
as a pre-vis thing. Like that first ILM test footage of transformers we saw.
-
I mean really?
-
And for Morifarti's birthday, a new Indiana Jones title: INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF POON! HAHAHAHAAH!
-
And for Morifarti's birthday, a new Indiana Jones title: INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF POON! HAHAHAHAAH!
-
"Coming Soon..............?"
If it isn't fake, It all seems very pre-vis, which I have no problem with. -
As said, if this was made by some guy in his basement, then good work for putting it together. But by current animation standards...ugh

Doubt Lucas would simply Rehash Expanded Universe stuff
by george newman
What makes me suspicious of the authenticity of this thing is the thought that with the cartoon they would just retread all the expanded universe stuff. I can't imagine Lucas would just reproduce the novels and comics in animated series form. That would be a lot of authors to pay off, right?
-
I thought it looked really cool, even if the frame rate was slow.
-
so...youknow. There you go.
-
Ummmmmmmmmm
-
you know, you'd think just the title alone would prove it isnt real. i mean isnt the new CGI series called clone wars? and the other tv series will be live action so....1+1=11
-
for 1987! Ha! What a piece of garbage. To go from Clone Wars to this piece of rancid dogshit is exactly the direction I'd expect from Lucas. Oh, and Happy Birthday, Mori!
-
I'm kinda torn about the authenticity of this. On one hand, to fake this would have taken loads of time and resources, because while it's a bit campy in parts it's still very good. On the other hand, if it's real, I'm a bit confused. Tales of the New Republic implies that these stories will take place after Return of the Jedi. Yet, I saw plenty of characters in that trailer that are from the PT era. Doesn't make sense.
-
Shadows of the Empire, Thrawn Trilogy. Dark Empire. Bounty Hunter wars. Crimson Empire Rogue Squadron. Dark Forces. THESE are the stories that need to be put to the screen. Any of these stories are better than the prequels combined.
-
Yeah, this looked real fake.
-
There is nothing about this that looked the slightest bit legitimate. What ARE you arguing about? It's not even presented in a way to TRY to fool anybody. It's clearly a fan film trailer, just like the trailer for 'Revelations' or any other number of fan films that were ONLY trailers. Are you people fucking retarded?
-
It also looked too shiny for STAR WARS. Nice attempt, but Mace Windu was dead during the New Republic years.
-
In other words, that animation looked shitty. Which is astonishing, since it's not like Lucas needs to run this on a shoestring budget. You'd figure that he could farm out new "Star Wars" films forever and keep turning profits. Hell, people paid to see the prequels.
-
What the hell did I just watch?
-
A bunch of mediocre writers cranking out half-witted and thoroughly bottom-drawer ideas. I've read fanfic that was more true to the spirit of SW.
-
Lucasfilm would not release such an unfinished piece of work, its a fact.
The first shot of the Clonetroopers getting out of the ship is proof enough that it is fan work.
that is all, I'm off to the pub to get drunk/laid. -
The Last Starfighter....
-
and i fling poo at who ever thinks this is real.
-
The only animated projects in the works take place during the Clone Wars, NOT in the time of the New Republic, which contrary to the trailer's indications wouldn't feature Vader anyway because by the time the new Republic is established, VADER IS DEAD! Whoever made this obviously doesn't know STAR WARS beyond its imagery. There are just a ton of things giving it away, like the inclusion of Mustafar as a war zone (which it wasn't in Episode III, only the place the Federation leaders hid out) and the question mark after "Tales of the NEW REPUBLIC" at the end. How anyone could have thought this was Lucasfilm sanctioned to begin with is just beyond me, especially if they're any fan of STAR WARS.
-
Yoda is nowhere to be found in this trailer (strange since Vader only outlives Yoda by a few days and he's in there). He will be in the REAL series, however, and the animation style used for him looks nothing like the style in this trailer. I know because the OFFICIAL Star Wars magazine published a picture of the newest CG-cartoon Yoda.
-
Thrawn and Mara Jade won't be in the TV shows, ever. Deal with it.
-
I was raggin on it before...force of habit. I do that to all-things-Lucas nowadays. But if it's fan made, nice job.
-
WOW! That looks like crap. Animation snapping, the modelling is TERRIBLE! Characters all look bizarre. Looks worse than student animation.Looks like he pulled some kids out of a hut in Singapore and threw them in front of a computer and thought they could be modelers / animators. Lucas obviously cares nothing about the quality of his Star Wars franchise anymore. What a CHEAPO!
-
I'm sorry I called you a republican earlier. I didn't mean it.
-
http://tinyurl.com/ysctz4
-
How can you believe that Lucas Animation would put that out? Their pre-production animation made by high school students who work at the studio during the summer is of better quality.
-
There will be some kind of suprise revealed at 11:30 Pacific time on Sunday the 27th. I'm guessing that will be the real Clone Wars teaser trailer
-
The Sword of Shannara is not the movie being made, so no, it isn't an LOTR remake. haha
-
IS A MORON. Take down the names of every person who believed for a second that this was a Lucas Animation product and ignore them for eternity. They are so stupid they make Dubya seem like a genius.
-
Don't watch the fucking thing then. It's that simple. haha Most of you sound like a God-Given Right has been taken away from you all of a sudden. It hasn't. Enjoy the movies; don't watch the animation. Pretty fucking simple if you ask moi.
-
it gives a glimpse of how the real thing may end up looking which, either way, like all things star wars, will divide all us nerds. Lovers to the right, haters to the left.
-
Lucas himself has said that the new animated series takes place between Episodes II and III, and focuses less on the main characters of the trilogy, and more on backstores regarding clone troopers and unknown Jedis. This faux looking trailer takes place in the Expanded Universe-era SW. Hence, I call shenanigans.
-
Lucas has consistently stated that the new animated series will take place between II and III and will involve the Clone Wars...does any of this look that way!?!? Han Solo was freakin' in it....also, this doesn't look ANYTHING like the toys that are coming out OR the official LucasFilm "teamshot" of the upcoming series. Those that are saying it will "rule" and "fuck all the haters"...get a fuckin' clue. I've gotta immediately assume you're all 14. Peace
-
I just got laid... Sorry, temporarily out of geek mode.
-
I want to see more. Tie Fighters, X-Wings, Luke, Han, Chewie, Thrawn, Mara Jade, Camo Stormtroopers. + An insane Jedi Master, Leia and the Nohgri, Thrawn, Scout Walkers, The Empire attack on Coruscant. I'm not seeing what there is to hate here, WTF is wrong with you people?
-
Leave this fan made stuff on YouTube unless you're promoting it as fan made and just want to share. This was SO AMAZINGLY not an official Lucas product I feel a little embarrassed for everyone who thought it was.A) Lucas would never allow such a poorly animated 'test' teaser to slip out. The quality isn't even near Star Wars Lego quality.B) The New Republic is formed after SW:ROTJ, so why would purple saber wielding Mace Windu be around?C) No audio or special effects audio. These new SW related trailers always have a Jedi/main character V.O. to accent whatever desperate moment they are in.D) It was confirmed long ago that the animated series is set between SW:ROTS and SW:ANH.E) Though this fan put a lot of work in this and I applaud him/her/them for their endeavor, it smacks of fan made ameteur quality. Yeah, this point is a lot like point 'A'...shut it!This really was a total waste of time...um...even though I had nothing to do anyway. But if I did? Whoa momma! I'm sure it would have been something kinda awesome...
-
The new ANIMATED series is called " the Clone Wars " not " Tales of the Republic " , which takes place during .....wait for it................THE CLONE WARS!.
The live action series takes place between ROTS and ANH . there is no series slated to take place AFTER ROTJ. AICN is pretty lame for lapping up every peice of fanmade crap thrown at them and they are the most gullible bunch of Fanbots i have ever seen. try having some standards will ya.
We now return you to our regularly svheduled Lucas bashing. LOL.
SUCKERS
-
Lucas wouldn't except such stiff animation.
-
I think it has been pretty well established by now that this is fan-made. Just chill the fuck out already and wait for the real thing to bitch about!
-
You moan and you winge and you fuckin moan and you fuckin winge...do you fat fucks ever do anything productive?? This is someone who has worked fuckin hard and tried their best to make something of a cool concept. Yes your entitled to your views, but some fucking positive feedback would be nice, its just always so damn negative with you cunts. This is a nice piece of work, a real work in progress of course. But the thought of seeing Luke and the gang back...well thats what we want, its certainly something i'd like to see and this guy has took a shot at doing it. Where is your attempts? Nowhere, you sit and hide behind that fuckin keyboard moaning about other peoples work day in and day out....get out there and try it yourself then we'll talk, fuckin lazy arses. So, if you cant tell I thought this looked cool, could be good fun and Im sure if the powers that be were to get involved we'd have a nice series on our hands. Good going and keep up the good work if your reading.
-
Its obviously a fake, but it's a very good one.
-
If this is real, I ain't going to watch it.. Down right bad stuff.
-
I'll jizz on it too but for another reason.
-
I read some of the Tag and Bink comics when they were printed in the monthly Star Wars comic. It really wasn't that great at all, just humour about contrived situations where thy bump into characters from the movies/are the actuall cause of events from the movies. It's got good cartoony artwork but it's crappy otherwise.
-
Those of you living in LA can see behind the scenes stuff for "CLONE WARS" @ the convention center on Sunday (5/27/07).
http://starwars.com/community/event/celebration/news20070511.html
-
Had they noted on the front page this was fan made (they did not because they are fucktarded fangirls who can't see the obvious) then people would have probably been positive about it. But now, all AICN has done is make people mad. Good job. AICN loses again. I bet QuickstopEntertainment.com would not fuck up like that.
-
Is it just me or does the animation look like cut scenes from a REALLY old Star Wars game? IMO it looks like crap.
-
And, well, he died. Unless it's a flashback sequence.
-
Who's going to throw me a party?
-
They should have gotten the Clone Wars team back on this stuff.
-
These are the stories that need to be told OFFICIALLY on the small or big screen. FORWARDS. NOT BACKWARDS.
-
I remember turning 40 a while back. It was downright surreal in the sense that is was the first time i woke up without a boner. Scared the shit out of me.
-
I said if its a fan film, good job, if not then it needs work.
-
sorry, it took 5 seconds to realize it was fake. horribly done.
-
With its high level of adventure, suspense, specatacle and heart, BSG has set a new standard in sci-fi space drama. If the STAR WARS animated series can get anywhere near as good, maybe I'll check it out. Happy Birthday, Moriarty!
-
Sheesh people look at the thing for one. Secondly, it's posted by an account that lists the Tales of the New Republic site. A whois search turns up that it was registered by or through Tucows. If Lucas was really doing this, the site would be under LucasOnline and the conctact would be Lucas Films. It's not real. It looks like crap. It isn't news. What a crock.
-
Why would Lucasfilm make a cartoon that looks like lousy legos.
-
I don't understand why in the world, after the huge success of the traditionally animated "Clone Wars," the powers-that-be would decide to do this show (with so much cool potential) in CG... not to mention bad CG (if this is even a final / real product.) How cool would this series be in the old school animation format? Gah!
-
convinced me that Star Wars set after ROTJ could work. and helped reinforce what I already knew: if Lucasfilm is so gung-ho about showing us Star Wars cartoons, then STOP FUCKING AROUND WITH THE CLONE WARS! Seriously, it was kinda fun between eps 2 and 3, but then 3 came out and the clone wars are over and Palpatine rules. That party's over man.
-
However, this fake trailer has gotten me anxious to see the REAL trailer for the TV Shows. The Star Wars geek in me finally returned!
-
More of teenage girl Vader and wuss Jedi.
-
ss character designs. No way I could sit through this.
-
Hell I'm barely over 30 and it sucks more balls than Owen Wilson. That clip was kinda cool though. And there is nothing wrong with the EU. Dash Rendar kicks aieesss.
-
just the title of the show tells me it's a fan film. there's no such cartoon based on the new republic! if there was a show about the new republic, wouldn't there have been an article on this site announcing it?(with a long talkback/george lucas bitch session)
Wow, harry really dropped the ball on this. i always thought people whining about the drop in the quality of this site were complainers. but now i'm one of them. -
It's got a bloody question mark after coming soon!
-
a bloody question mark!
harry's definitely slipping! posting a fan-film as a teaser trailer. wow! that's embarrassing -
This is clearly fan-made, well done though it may be. But hey, you never know, given the success and popularity of the KOTOR games they might actually make something out of it, or out of another storyline, eventually - i know I would gladly watch anything KOTOR-based or that has Thrawn involved, thats for sure... Late though it may be, Have a Happy birthday Mori...
-
I don't really like the design and the animation feels a bit stiff however i give whoever has done this credit for at least trying.

Released for the anniversary! Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/wat ch?v=nPvsK1Ks650

I'm a little bit disturbed by all the people that seemed to think this may be Official. As it is, there is some good stuff in this fan-made trailer and some not so good stuff. Whoever did it, kudos to them, and here's hoping all negative comments here won't stop them making some more Star Wars gubbins in the future. Just for kicks.
-
Extended Universe crap is terrible. Thrawn was able to plan his war strategies based on his studies of the ARTWORK of a given culture. C'mon! Silly. And people walking around with ysalamiri harnesses on to be protected from Jedi...weak. Timothy Zahn turned Star Wars into Star Trek. Zahn made it all about the technology. Hell, the Star Wars Christmas special feels more like real Star Wars than the Extended Universe junk. Just give some characters some unpronounceable names with plenty of apostrophes between consonants, and title the thing "Star Wars: The B'Naor Contingency" and you're good to go. Fuckin' Zahn.....
-
Nope, sorry, you're on your own there! While I don't go for everything in the EU, Zahn's work kickstarted the fanbase all over again and the thirst for more Star Wars stories in general. The Thrawn character was excellent as well as Mara jade and Talon Karde, worty additions to the SW universe in their own right.Zahn's books also felt more mature, adult stories... like ESB was. This was exactly what the fans wanted.
-
is set during the clone wars, the live action series is set between episodes 3 & 4, this is a fake trailer for a show that does not and will never exist.
-
this is lucas after all. The man won't be happy until he has done every single star wars related thing in the world, ever...and i laugh him for it! Go go Lucas!
-
Just a suggestion.

....but I think the Question mark at the end kinda does 'give it away'.....oh and Happy Birthday 'Mori'...if that is indeed your real Flavour of Ice Cream.
-
I mean if Lucasarts was making this, wasn't it said to be to an extent to push CG animation quality? This is like a whole leap off of a cliff backwards...
-
Yeah, that doesn't mean that this thing is Official (it isn't) it just means that he/she/they used those figures and that style as their inspiration. So people, please stop. It IS NOT official, however it IS a worthy bit of animated fun from some fans. Rather than dissing it anymore than already done, how about some reccomendations for other good non-official Star Wars out there on the 'net. Star Wars is 30! Join in the fun or shut up and go else where.
-
Well, I still think it's the official CG show. I just think the animation (especially the space scenes) is too advanced for home-brewed project that would have had to be started AFTER pictures of those OT cartoon figures were released. We'll just have to wait and see. Bottom line is that I think it's too advanced for home-brew (created after toy pics released) and downright horrible for Lucasfilm's resources.
-
The animated figures made by Gentle Giant, sold on tons of toys sites, have been on those toys sites since MID 2006!!!!
If it were official it would've been leaked within a year's time.
Obvious fan trailer!!! -
Having been a reader of this site since the Independence Day/Starship Troopers/Titanic buildups, and seeing that Moriarity is now 40...I've realized I've wasted a fuckton of my life.
-
You think you got it bad...I remember reading the leak that Lethal weapon 4 and Toy story 2 were being made...
-
For a studio production, the character designs look awkward and underdeveloped. The scene composition and shots don't look bad, but the character animation looks stilted, robotic, and inexpressive. I sincerely hope this isn't from the studio. The character designs and animation in the "Clone Wars" set a high standard. This trailer looks like a cheap reproduction of Clone Wars by a much less talented creative pool. The 3D commercials and cut-scenes for the Star Wars Lego game series look more interesting than this trailer. However, if this is a fan-film (which would lack big studio money and big studio production crew) then this trailer is brilliant.
-
Maybe you guys are right then. I thought they were just recently released.
-
Reckon Harry and the gang knew this was fan-made before they posted it and annoyed everyone? Or did they just post it to spark debate? It's totally fan-made as that web link somewhere above proved...now I leave this talk back, wish they'd be more careful with what they put up as "the real Mccoy" though; all this detective shit tires me out.
-
The site talesofthenewrepublic.com now has this disclaimer:We have been completely overwhelmed by the online response this teaser has generated.
"We can 100% assure you that this is NOT an official Lucasfilm production and is in no way connected to them.
Many thanks to everyone.
We will be updating this site once we return from Celebration IV" -
and his AICN goons give SW fans a bad name. Do some research before you post this stuff. You make us all look like gullible fools . I'm sure the creator of this (FanFilm) is having a good laugh at everyones expense. This site is turning into nothing but Fluff. now they are Reporting on Rosie Odonnell? I used to like this place for spoilers but this is getting ridicu;ous. success of this site is ruining it at the same time. I hardlt believe a word posted here anymore.

REAL!!!AHHHH!!!IT LOOKS AWSOME!!!
-
Real trailer > this hokey piece of crap
-
I've got to say, I've been sort of dreading these TV series, the live action one in particular. However, the official Lucasfilm trailer for Clone Wars looks pretty good, actually. Still, I think it would be more fun to have a series set during the time of the OT, even if it didn't focus on the main characters of that trilogy. I like that era better than the prequel era. And frankly, if I see ONE MORE goddam double bladed lightsaber I'm gonna hemhorrage. Has there ever been any confirmation on the time period of the the live action series?
-
i just can't get over how they dropped the ball on the prequels. Unreal. Why relegate the Clone Wars to cartoon spin offs? The Prequels had tons of reasons to succeed. Instead they rank right next to the Matrix sequels as blown opportunities. Sad. That said, I can't wait to see this new animated series. Looks cool.
-
Michael Bay Fucking Lost. And this trailer was crap.
-
New one is much better. I LIKE!!!!
-
George Lucas has said the the live action series will take place between Episodes 3 and 4.
-
Not so much as films. It needs hundreds and hundreds of episodes to do the full set up - it was too big to cram into 3 films.
-
...floating in space looking like a huge ass.
Speaking of which, check out the number one in CHUD's list of cinematic disappointments. -
looks great. a nice animated show that either takes place durning KOTOR or the OT era would be even better, but i will still watch this. i wonder if this series will contradict the original Clone Wars cartoon Genndy did. i can see Lucas wanting the people to accept this show more then the Genndy one.
-
The animation seems blocky as if its a rip off of lego star wars
-

then they'd be better off contacting Brian Henson and doing Muppet Star Wars.
-
You need to update the article with the new link to starwars.com.
-
the idea was that the POS we were shown at first would make the real deal look good when we saw it a couple of days later. And it worked - by those standards it looks pretty good. By those standards.
-
For once..just make these characters look "normal" with correctly proportioned arms, legs, heads, etc
-

-
This isn't news worthy. Switch the SW trailers in the columns or something, but the headline is old, and you still make it out to possibly be legit.

The official one on Starwars.com looks pretty awesome. I was worried any further work they did animated wise would be like that pile of low grade shit the other Clone Wars cartoon was.

Will the DVD blurbs for Lawrence of Arabia in 2020 be "Cinematography so powerful my balls exploded in a pink, wet, trembling jizz explasm!"?
-
Happy birthday Mori!
-
I've seen the clips of the cgi Clone Wars and I beg that one of you many Yanks over there in Clafornia [I can't get there right now...stuck in UK] please put a stop to Lucas and end his life now.

but the real trailer is over at http://www.starwars.com/video/ view/000478.html and it rocks.
-
I think it is real. It is just what I'd expect Lucas to produce these days. I mean, the man thought Greedo shooting first was a good idea.
-
STARWARS.COM has the real deal. Go NOW!
-
acually that link has been posted here about 50x already, but I guess Harry still hasnt seen it.
-
It has been there since early yesterday or saturday.
Dopes. -
Um.... I just read back through some of the talkback and I'm pretty sure no one has mentioned it.
-
Any time a fan makes a SW clip or whatever. It has republic in the title to fool us. Lucas never uses the world Republic in the title. never will.

I hope that's what they stick to -- "severe mental illnesses." I'm not one to ignorantly discount the existence of depression and mental illnesses and the need for such diagnoses and treatment, but I'm not certain that psychology or psychiatry does the average, mildly depressed person much good -- this having been one and been through several such practitioners. Based on my own experience, I'm almost inclined to side with Tom Cruise in that I'm suspicious of psychiatry myself, but here it states "severe mental illness" and I know that there are people who need certain psychatric medications not just to improve quality of life but simply to keep them from harming each other and themselves.

The real trailer has been posted at Star Wars dot com!

Becuasue that is what that animation looked like, the video game lego star wars.
-
well who is he
-
Is there something you'd like to share with the TB son? Do you have a "thing" for elegant military genius' in White uniforms? its the boots isn't it...
-
It makes a nice animatic, or perhaps an indie side project, but there is no way this is official. Just no way. Lucas has higher standards than that... right?
-
fuck the idiots who just post and dont read
-
The one thing about low end CG animated stuff like this is the speed. Things tend to move slower. I hope the end product has the ships and characters moving faster!!
Good Luck to Lucas, I hope Indy 4 is good unlike the -
I just checked out the real "Clone Wars" trailer (the tiny url one someone posted above), and I must say I'm FUCKING disappointed. That shit was weak. Bloodless. Great animation, but nothing else. Had George Lucas's bad ideas written all over it. Give me poorly animated Grand Admiral Thrawn any day of the week over the "real Clone Wars".
My god this franchise is dead to me. Barf! -
Well, I'm glad I wasn't let down by the trailer, and I was in the first group to see it at CIV. Sorry to hear you feel like judging the entire work based on a few minutes of footage....
