You'll get a sense of performance and production values, as well as a singularly stilted reading of the famous "Come with me if you want to live" line. Maybe they should think about doing some ADR on that one?
You can also glimpse Terminators from the show...looking a little too much like low rent, Van Damme baddies to my eyes.
The series will arrive on Fox mid season, so it's feasible some of the material we're seeing here may undergo re-jiggering.

Give me a fucking break. A female teenage mutant ninja T-800 which is smaller and just as powerful as a full size model? The T-1000 and T-X have all conclusively shown they are not capable of real human character and emotion, and now, all of a sudden, we have teenage terminators of a less advanced design who can suddenly show and express emotion, and behave like a real human?!? What, is John supposed to fall in love with this thing or what? Low Rent cgi for the terminator vision stuff too. T3 and this show should not have been made. T 1 & T 2...that's all you need.

I'm all for a Terminator show and I love Lena Headly and Summer Glau. I was totally excited for this show when I heard about it, but after seeing those videos, I'm a little disappointed. It kind of looks like a bad Terminator made for tv movie.(Well, it kind of is a made for tv movie) I will give the show a chance and see how original it can be. I know the videos are from the pilot, so hopefully it will get better. It just needs to have more than just a bad terminator show up every week. I pray to god that they prove me wrong and this show kicks ass. I really want it to succeed.

wait, I thought this was supposed to be between T2 and T3. In T3 John said he had not seen a terminator since T2. Plus why would the Terminator keep Sarah alive. What use could she possibly have to him? The standard terminator practice as shown in the other films is gather info, then terminate the person you got the info from. He even has John set up by masacrading Sarha's voice. Seems to me that she served her purpose.

This looks like it could be a cool action series. The obvious gimmick to get guys to watch is the chick but she's hot so it doesn't matter.
Would Schwarzenneger or Robert Patrick be willing to do a cameo? I think it would be cool if they did an episode where it shows Skynet using Schwarzenneger and Patrick as humans that are picked to be used as the basis for one of the manyT-800 models and the T-1000 prototype. Looking optimistic about this one. Hopefully Fox, Tom Rothman, and Rupert Murdoch don't fuck it all up. -
It looks pretty good, but it's on Fox, so this time next year we'll be looking at cancellation. Fuck you, Fox, I'm not going to fall for it again. I'm going to steer clear of this until they've got a couple of seasons in the can. At least.

Cameron's transformation from the first to second film was pitch perfect. She looks just as goody-two-shoes as she did in the beginning of the first flick. Are they trying to re-assimilate into society or something? Don't buy it. Not one bit.

Nice to see The Machines have finally figured out not to make Terminators all look like the same guy; it was kinda making him easy to spot. But the Christ allegory is old and tired - the conceit that only John and Sarah Connor can stop The Machines, that no one else would pick up the flag after they were terminated, is a silly one.

the Terminator lore/legend, keep a serial format for the series, add plenty of uber-geek moments and give it a decent budget for the sfx then it might be ok. More then likely though it'll just be a generic, "Fammily Ties/Growing Pains, teach some human/life lesson of the week from an emotionless machine" crap. I guess we can keep our fingers crossed though... We can all benefit from more geek shows.

Based on the preview, I'd say the problem with this series is that it is not sustainable because:
1. It's a re-hash of the films - visions of a nuclear holocaust, "come with me if you want to live", boy-next-door John having doubts on his ability to lead, miffed cops on the scene don't know what to make of the Terminator, paranoid Sarah berating John to be careful, etc etc. The problem is we've seen all this before with bigger budgets, better direction, and better actors. The series needs to find entirely new angles within the T-mythology, or it will just seem like watered-down deja vu.
2. The series seems to be structured in a formulaic way that will get old fast. Meaning: terminator comes to harm, another terminator comes to protect. They face off. Protector terminator is eliminated at some point, and Sarah & John fend for themselves. After the terminator is killed, another terminator-of-the-week is sent, probably with another protector to fight him off. And on and on. The folks in the future keep sending terminators to square off. It gets old. Again, I understand that's the central pivot of the mythology, but it has to be more than Terminator of the Week (even if they stretch out terminator participations over several weeks). -

I guess it makes sense. I just don't get the obsession with Sarah and John Connor. Why not go back to the 1800s and knock out J-Con's great grandpappy and grandmammy who have little more than a musket to take you out? It seems for efficient killing machines, they are taking the least efficient route to succeed.

This is obviously after T2, but tramples on the continuity of T3. In the movie John said they had been "living off the grid" since T2 without any terminator problems and that Sarah had died a few years prior. So what the hell is going on with this TV show? Are they tossing out T3? Seems to me the two can't coexhist. If its alternate timelines, I'll get a headache. Here's the one where John's a doctor. Here's the one where John joins the circus. Here's the one where John gets a sex change! Here's the one where John gets hit by a cross-town bus and DIES! Somebody, please pass me the Excedrin.

The others looked kinda boring and borrowed from every tenet ever used from the movies. If they don't introduce anything new here, then why bother?
And ofcourse, it'll be cancelled by Fox before it gets to episode 3 anyway, so who cares? If you want to use 'Terminator' in a good way, why don't you give us what the movies always teased us about: The FUTURE WARS! That is all I wanted to see from 1-3 anyway. The best part of Terminator 3 was that the bombs had finally gone off so T4 had to be in said future wars (now even that sounds like it's not happening properly).
They don't even need to have writers for it. How hard is it to steal scripts from 'Captain Power'? -

I hate to rain on the parade, but isn't this kind of pointless? We know that John Conner survives. The past cannot be changed. It is impossible. Since Conner survives to lead humanity against the robots, the terminiator will fail.

...Still, Lena Headey's usually pretty good, Thomas Dekker didn't suck on Heroes (partly because his agent wouldn't allow it :p), and Summer Glau looks like a fish with human skin, plus I'm geek enough that it's practically the law that I have to check this out. So this plus a new Terminator film trilogy in the works huh? Seems like the Terminator franchise has become the Freddy Krueger of sci-fi, in good ways and in bad.

BANG!!! Thats the continuity of this series going up in smoke, and I dont see any way around it.
Particularly since they clearly time travel at some point in this pilot. WTF??? How the hell do they manage that??? They have the wife of Miles Dyson, who was killed before he could finish off his work on the old T-800 chip. Yet here we have them time travelling in 1998, years and years before the first primitave Terminators are created (from T3). This whole idea is a complete mess, and fans of the movie will no doubt shit kittens at the thought of Terminators that aren't Arnie, and Sarah Connor that isn't Linda Hamilton. This Sarah Connor looks nothing like a world weary, paranoid action bitch with the fate of the world on her shoulders....she looks like a fucking soccer mom.
Also, if they time travel, how can the events of T3 possibly take place? Even if he travels back to the same timeline, did he just forget about all the terminators he's battled since the events of T2? AAAAARGGGH!!! It makes me shit white hot bile about how messed up this is. Unless they do the Dallas "It's all a dream" cop out end to the series, then it makes fuck all sense, and could put people off the up-coming trilogy. -
why not "Terminator"? What's with that? There's no reason this couldn't work, but the chances of it being good, or becoming good before it's cancelled, are pretty damn slim. Maybe if there's some good thought put into the changing-the-past-shtick. I guess this is the past created when skynet sends terminators back to a point post T2/pre T3 from the future of the T3 timeline. Whatever. If there's robots blowing shit up and gratuitous river nudity I'll be there.

How would they figure out who the great grandparents were or where they lived? These machines apparently don't know anything but John Connor's name, his mom's name, and the city. Remember, in the first movie the Terminator had to go through the phone book killing all Sarah Connors.

Why shouldn't Dekker have left Heroes for this Terminator spin-of series? Regardless of whether his character on Heroes was about to be outed as gay, he played a rather minor, un-important supporting character in a show that has a large ensemble. But in Sarah Connor, he gets to be one of the starring leads. He and his agent would have been morons for not jumping from Heroes for this.

How can ANYONE get excited for a sci-fi show on FOX?!?!!! They will cancel it even if it's good--heck ESPECIALLY if it it's good. Or they'll ruin it during it's second season and then cancel it for bad ratings. And a Firefly allumni is in this? Fuck no, it's so going to get canceled before the show has aired it's first half season. The kid who played Zach had better hope that Heroes will take him back as Claire's gay friend, because he won't have this pay check for very long.

A) there will not be enough interest, B) too many complaints about messing with the movie timeline, C) BAD ACTORS!! Terrible Actors. That's why Painkiller Jane really sucks, the actors are shit. D) It's a crappy premise for a TV show.

i would look at it this way, the machines failed in killing connor at the end of t3 so they send a new terminator back to the time period between t2 and t3.
as for summer i agree with the idea someone above stated about her possibly being a terminator made in the form of what john connors future daughter would look like. the resistance gets ahold of her and reprograms her.
i mean in reallity the end of T2 should have meant john connor was never born since they stopped judgement day. in movies and shows involveing time travel i would think normal continuity rules wouldnt allways be the same -

the machines from the future (sky-net) they send a machine back in time to kill the mother of the leader of the future resistance... cool! but the machine fails in his task. So, they send back a machine to kill the leader of the resistance when he is a child... oops! the machine fails again... so the machines send back yet another machine to kill the leader of the resistance when he is in his 20's and his mother is long since dead. They pretty much fail again to kill him... so... why not just go further back into the past? or immediately after a failure? why do they send the machines back every 10 years or so? I mean they have Time Travel for fucks sake. Send back a legion of machines or hell... just use the whole Time Travel thing as the major advantage it is. It never really made much sense to me... case in point check out Back To The Future... they went back and forth to fix this and that for 3 movies and for the most part it made sense. Oh well its just a movie that spawned a great sequel and not-so-good sequel and now a terrible FOX series that will go down faster than a drunk slut at a Motley Crue concert.

....the actors playing Sarah Connor and the bad Terminator HAVE GOT TO GO!!! Well, I assume they do screen tests for all TV shows, right? Maybe, the "good stuff" is yet to come. Sarah Connor might be OK in time BUT RECAST THAT DAMN TERMINATOR!!! DAMMIT, CAST ROBERT PATRICK!!! Just ask Summer Glau to butter him up first, They both work or worked on THE UNIT so it should be a piece 'o' cake. If Old Arnold can play a Terminator, so can Old Patrick. HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY???!!!???

FYI: Miles Dyson's wife did not die. T2 shows the T-1000 walking through the Dyson house while John, Sarah, T-800 and Miles are over at Cyberdyne. The movie does't show the T-1000 killing Dyson's family - they don't seem to be at home.

If we ever get a T4 - it would be cool as hell if it would show the time travel aspect, but it has gotten so convoluted that pulling it off with some logic is almost impossible. 1. Apparently, both the resistance and the machines have developed the ability at the same time - which is odd in itself. 2. How did the resistance know which Terminator was sent to which point in time? Furthermore, how did they know this EACH AND EVERY TIME? I mean really, the machines should guard their secrets better. 3. In T3 the Terminatrix is looking for Connor's lieutenants because he himself has gone 'off the grid'. This means there is either a limit to the amount of times you can sent a Terminator to a certain time-frame OR there is a limit to the amount of years you can sent someone back. In the case of the latter the Terminators must have been sent back years apart for some reason (because a time machine has to 'charge up' for that amount of time perhaps?). Anyway, I could go on and on and on... For a future instalment to explain all the questions raised by T1-3 will be very difficult. Let alone if they have to factor in this new series. Speaking of which - the rights to the series and to the movies are in completely different hands. This doesn’t bode well for the Terminator continuity.

All the actors and actresses seemed a bit...um...too clean cut. Sarah Conner seems horribly miscast with no real badass in her at all. I could really care less if she's pretty. She needs that "Sigourney Weaver" Aliens-thing, which she just ain't got.Oh, also, John Connor needs to suck it up and stop whining. Random whining never sells a tv show.

You got the time travel thing wrong. There is only one time machine, and its only used once. You have to remember that the past is always changed the time machine is used. In the first time continuum a man and a T101 went in-it blew up. No one else gets to travel. Because Kyle gave Sarah information about the future and fathered her son, he gave humanity the chance to prepare for the war, but the T101`s chip and arm made the machines advance more rapidly. By the time (in the alternate timeline created) the machines figure out they have to travel thru time to win, they´ve already developed liquid metal..so they sent the T1000,...the humans, being better prepared, are able to send a reporgrammed T101- but again, they use the time machine only once. I do think you´re right about there being a time limit as to how far you can travel- so the same shit applies to T3. Oh, and those clips are awful.

It was an action flick that got lucky and the central theme has been done SO MUCH FUCKING BETTER in stories like the Matrix and especially Battlestar Galactica.
