Like Sam-wise I've seen an Olyphant! Specifically a bald Timothy one decked out in full HITMAN costume!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Yeah, I know the headline was a stretch, but I like it anyway.
So, yeah. HITMAN, the video game, is currently being adapted into a feature length moving picture show for us, with Timothy Olyphant as the lead. Two pics popped up over at FilmWad (thanks for the heads up "MajorTom021") and it gives us our first look at the man in full baldness and suit. Take a gander!
I played the game only once for half an hour or so and could never get into it. I'm sure it's great. I've had many friends who love it and I'm sure if I dedicated more time to it, I would have been turned around.
Olyphant is an odd pick for the role and he looks a little goofy in that last picture, but it is, afterall, an out of character fan pic. That first picture looks straight off of the video game cover... you know, minus the crew and monitors. Thoughts?

When is Hollywood going to realize that video games are not graphic novels, and we have not imbued these properties with the kind of emotional investment that requires strict adherence? Just give us a fucking good movie. He looks retarded. Are we sure Uwe isn't secretly directing this?

They're supposed to be getting the cast back together to shoot the two Deadwood tv movies in June. I hope Olyphant gets done with this in time to come back as Seth Bullock.

Olyphant's a good actor, but I'm not sure this role is right for him. They really should have offered it to Statham. Still, it's not like Michael Bay is directing this so it can't be totally bad.

Especially now that Albrecht is out at HBO. Funny that choking a girl is what got him fired and the movies sunk for good, since it was a very Cy Tolliver thing to do.

i have to hope that the fact he is smilling on the fan photo is the only reason he looks bad. Cut the guy some slack, I think he'll do a great job. He's more than capable, his work on "DeadWood" is brilliant. These are CLEARLY just shots with a fan, hence the smile...The back Head shot looks brilliant, I'm wondering if he got the job because his head just happens to look EXACTLY like in the game!?? Anyway, consider me interested as I await more....

I don't have a clue what looks "goofy" about the photo, but Oly looks perfect in the role. I'm sure the movie will suck but not because of him or his "look."

Now mind you I never saw either TRANSPORTER movies and I'm not a video game guy to know about the source material, but as to Statham playing this role as well, isn't that a bit too similar?
I mean, what I DO know about Transporter, basically that kind of cool-as-ice, lone wolf guy who's got this one incredibly important job to do... etc... ? -
... and I'm a bit worried when I see those pics. The back of his head is perfect, the pic reminding me of a piece of artwork for Hitman: Contracts. But the front... he looks way too young, and I know it's not a still from the film, but he'd better look much more sinister and menacing if he wants to be a convincing Agent 47 !

Not only does he provide the voice for 47 in the games, but he was the physical model for 47. Look him up on IMDB and see who would have been the PERFECT 47.

Things do work out in Hollywood sometimes when you get someone as kick ass as Olyphant to do this... Statham was too obvious and I would have thought I was watching another lame ass Guy Richie film.. Olyphant is everywhere right now and I'm glad his uber coolness is being recognized! He still should have been JOKER..

I didn't know who Olyphant was until he started became the 'morning sports guy' on Indie 103.1 in LA. This is the same station that has weather updates by David Lynch. Best station ever.

Has anyone noticed that EVERY FREAKING VIDEO GAME MOVIE has the same storyline just a different setting? let me guess the story of this one.... it involves a guy you see and he encounters this chick, and that guy need to save that chick (Super Mario Brothers, Resident Evil, etc), or there is this person who has to save a family member cause something crazy happened(DOOM, silent hill, etc).
I'm pining for the day when Hollywood will wake up and try an original storyline....or *gasp* one that follows closer to the game. (granted silent hill was on of the better game movies). -
all too true, but they take a square peg (video game) and try to shove it through the round hole (generic movie bullshit). thats why we might never see a Half-Life movie cause Valve won't let the studios use one of those generic storylines

I really like Olyphant, I think he has the chops to be an intense hard ass and I hope he pulls this off but Stratham seems like the perfect choice. I wonder if he was offered it.

Maybe we need to see a studio shot to judge, because my guess is he will be scowling the whole time. Still though it makes Hitman look like a damn confusion college freshman.

I like the actor, and I have no reverence for (or knowledge of, at all, really) the source material video game. but if I'm supposed to buy that guy as a) bald, and b) a hitman, sorry guys, I'm out.he looks like a sweet guy that shaved his head because he wanted to show solidarity to a kid in the 3rd grade class he teaches that had to get chemo.

A LOT!!! Deadwood was amazing mostly because of him and McShane but I just don't know about this one. The game is ok but the problem with some video games is that they are derivative of other movies and that sure feels like the case with Hitman and a movie will likely be just like many other movies we have seen. I will still allow the DVD in my player.

Yeah check out Bateson. He would have been perfect! At least based on looks that is. This guy could be good but from these pics he looks...goofy. But then again, he's not in character or anything so yeahhhh...and while I like the games, that guy earlier had a good point. In a movie, how is this guy seriously supposed to blend into a crowd???

The barcode actaully served a purpose in the first game. 47 is a clone....one of many. The barcode was his creator's way of identifying each different clone. There was a barcode reader in the original game that was required to enter the final part of the last level....but if 47 used the reader on himself, the computer would recognize him and kill him on the spot. So he had to use the head of one of his dead brothers to enter this area.

...in the actual movie (he had a hell of a sour faced scornful stare in Deadwood) I'd say that the jury is still out personally. This is, after all, just him relaxing behind the scenes. And I seem to remember the same kinda complaints over Tom Jane prior to The Punisher, yet now the one thing that most people agree on about the proposed sequel is that they want Jane back. Personally I'll give Olyphant the solid benefit of the doubt until I'm proven otherwise, and a goofy behind the scenes pic aint gonna change that.

...there is absolutely nothing cinematic about them, so I'm expecting a lot of superfluous crap in this film. To be faithful to the spirit of the game they would only have to shoot one scene 9 times and show us the rushes. Making an entire film based on the little throraway cutscenes from the game is just dumb; they aren't even why people play Hitman, its pleasures are totally unique to the medium of video games. (IE.- Replaying the same scenario in a variety of different ways. Why re-play a movie when the game is always different?)
As others mentioned, the only thing that will decide whether I see this or not is the voice of 47...it's the only really distinctive thing about the game, his wierd anachronistic accent..If Olyphant can't nail the voice perfectly I won't even bother renting it. -

I don't know this actor, I have never watched Deadwood. But he is totally wrong.
This character is made for Jason Statham (as said by so many people before).
I don't play XBOX much anymore, I kinda got over it in my late 20's.
But when I am bored, and tired and feel like slitting some throats I know Hitman is there for me.
I had hoped this movie would have an actor that would allow me to enjoy the movie as if I was watching an enthralling 90 minute cutaway scene.
I can't see this goofball being able to pull it off.
I bet the previews will show lots of shadows and Micheal Bayesque explosions and very little of this twat. -

His face is too round and his eyes are totally wrong...

But it was a smudge on my monitor. I was almost ranting for a minute there. But if Deadwood is any indicator, whatever intensity or menace this role demands, Olyphant can bring it will bells on. I couldn't be more excited for a movie I don't give a shit about. Hope it's cool.

Who the hell was the first to get it in their head that Olyphant was any part bad-ass?!! The dude looks like Mickey Rooney. As much as I HATE Jaime Kennedy, I some how hated this douche more in SCREAM 2. I guess he's got fans, I just don't get it. I dug the HITMAN games and this wasn't the dude doing my shooting. Hell, I'd take Ben Kingsley over this dude and you'd save on Barbasol too.

The Hitman in the games relies heavily on disguise. Right? Right. Many of the people he masquerades as could not have less in common with his true self. Right? Right. This film is based on the games. Right? Right. So, the conclusion is obvious: in this scene, he's simply wearing the disguise of a thirteen year old doofus who worships and tries to emulate Vin Diesel.
