Will Smith in OSMOSIS JONES'

Published at:  Mar 19, 1999 12:47:54 AM CST

Our spy Goober was recently out Ghost Chasing, when he wandered on the Warner's Lot to behold Will Smith (no, not the guy who played Conan's dad, but the MEN IN BLACK dude) in negotiations to voice the title character in OSMOSIS JONES... a feature length animated film which is... well if you do a search and see... you'll see that it is very very odd... and cool. Personally I hear that some of the production art on this film is just second to none... it's apparently just gorgeous. Wish I could see it? Don't you?

    Here we go...

    by toby o. notobe

Let me get this straight, you are in favor of a blaxplotation parody in which the lead charecter is a single-cell organism but you don't want it to be animated. Jeez, Will Smith is gonna look damn silly in that big rubber suit.

    Jive talkin' protoplasm?

    by javacycle

It should be cool as long as Smith can channel his inner Richard Roundtree. "This is just another way for the white blood cell to hold a cellular mytosis down, man."

get ready to head back to the early 70's

    by spike lee

I think studios are preparing for the success of the remake of Shaft by John Singleton. Shaft is the film that started the black action movement back in 1971, and will do the same 30 years later. These films were fresh in the early 70's, and were on the cutting edge. I dont see what studios can offer to these films by remaking them. They were great the first time around. Its just a reason to throw rap artist on a soundtrack, and have a hit record.

    Osmosis Jones vs. New Gods

    by fear of a ted

Warner Bros. went with Osmosis Jones instead of doing Jack Kirby's New Gods-- which was going to be done in the style of Mike Mignola's Hellboy. Oh well.

Hi, it's me grabbing center stage again

    by l'auteur

You're all right. I am, in fact, a pretentious snot who gets most of his ideas from books. I am intelligent (I have a 140 IQ and got a 1360 on the SAT) but I'm not nearly as intelligent as I think I am. That guy who took a stab at my personality, who said that I was probably quiet, introverted, and unliked (note: that doesnt mean im DISliked) was absolutely right. I don't say a word in real life so that's why I overcompensate on AICN. And I even had another brainfart--Luchino Visconti directed LE TERRA TREMA, not Roberto Rossellini. Forget the stupid "challenge" idea... let's just put it to a vote, and the majority will decide it: Who wants me to leave?

After we're done voting on the pressing matter of whether or not L'Auteur can be our friend or not, let's vote on what's better - pizza or french fries!

    Phone Booth? Ali?

    by janedoe33

So is the Ali project dead now? I thought Smith was going to do the Michael Bay-helmed PHONE BOOTH next. When is that going into production?
Oh by the way...the rest of the guys...CHILL OUT. Quit taking jabs at each other. Don't take everything so damn personal. Guys talk like you want to kill one another...
    Yo, man...that shit ain't right.

    Gotta go with the pizza

    by javacycle

L'Auteur, I don't think every person that frequents Talk Back wants you to leave. Just most of them. I may not have much book learnin', but I know Pa always said to love your fellow human beein', even if they call you a fool for not unnerstandin' all that complex Italian cinema verite. So this message goes out to my fellow Talk Backers: Don't hate L'Auteur...despise him if you must, but don't hate him. Besides, if we were to try to force L'Auteur out, we would be taking away his right to free speech, and dammit, that's just not America! So go ahead, L'Auteur! Go ahead and educate us! Go ahead and lecture us! Go ahead and challenge us! Go ahead and call us morons! I for one will shed a tear because that's not just insults being thrown at us! Why, what he's throwing at us is America!

    Smith Ali

    by bargod

The Will Smith Ali project is being held up b/c Ali's management is claiming all rights to his story, and that Ali made this deal without permission or some such nonsense.

    by coach12

how could you people even debate whether or not to have l'auteur on the talkback. its people like him that make this fun, and give you something to talk back to. and who are you kidding bby saying you want him off? you all spend time arguing back and forth with him, heck he was even invoked to write at this talkback. the guy may not always be right, but at least he stir this martini up a bit

    Nothing.

    by loki trickster

I have to agree with Coach12 about L'Auteur...even if he's full of shit (which he is sometimes), listening to him and Lane bitch helps me avoid doing my homework (Reading Marx and Nietzsche get boring after awhile). Besides, he's just barely qualifies as a certified genius at 140 IQ. I gotta stick up for him. I'm a pretentious shit who reads a lot as well, who also happens to like movies, and hate stupid people...but I'm not quiet, introverted, or unliked...so don't fuck with me or L'Auteur; we geniuses have to stick together (161 IQ and 1420 SAT...do you want proof?). Don't even think of trying to get rid of him. Until Harry says so, we have full 1st Amendment rights to be assholes...so shut up and go watch "People Vs. Larry Flint." Stick around L'Auteur...but don't expect us to agree with you. Shit...I've rambled too much...now I have to go, got rehearsal for "12th Night". -Loki

    by juvenal

Animated movies can be really cool. Antz and A bugs Life both rocked Plus will smith has a great voice but hardly looks like a black militant type. They should use computers and just stick Richard Roundtree in the movie
