GREY’S Spinoff To Wednesdays!! No ACCORDING, LOPEZ, PROSPERITY Or BRIAN For ABC’S FALL SLATE!!
I am – Hercules!!
No big surprises on the ABC slate announced Tuesday.
* Most of the “bubble” shows – “According To Jim,” “George Lopez,” “What About Brian?” and “According to Jim” – are not mentioned in ABC’s new press release (though The Hollywood Reporter reports ABC is still talking to “Jim’s” producers).
* The “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff is headed to Wednesday. “Big Shots” is getting the post-“Grey’s” slot opposite “ER.”
* Since our Friday report on the doings at ABC, the network added the sitcom “Miss/Guided,” from writer-producers Caroline Williams ("The Office") and Gaby Allan ("Scrubs"). It stars the relentlessly fabulous Judy Greer (“Arrested Development,” “Love Monkey”) as a high school guidance counselor who works at her alma mater.
* ABC pilots that didn’t make the leap to series include:
“The Thick of It,” the new sitcom from “Arrested Development’s” Mitch Hurwitz.
“Untitled Rina Minmoun,” the Southern lawyers series from “Everwood” showrunner Minmoun.
“Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” based on the movie, from the movie’s writer, Simon Kinsberg.
“Football Wives,” based on the British series, from “Ugly Betty’s” Marco Pennette.
“Life On Mars,” based on the British series, from “Boston Legal’s” David E. Kelley.

"October Road" and "Notes from the Underbelly" Also to Return for Second Seasons
Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment, today outlined ABC's plans for next season and unveiled the network's 2007-08 fall schedule before a crowd of ABC affiliates and representatives of the advertising and media communities at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
Scheduled to debut next season are four new comedy series: "Carpoolers," "Cavemen," "Miss/Guided" and "Sam I Am"; along with seven new drama series: "Big Shots," "Cashmere Mafia," "Dirty Sexy Money," "Eli Stone," "Private Practice," "Pushing Daisies" and "Women's Murder Club." Alternative series "Oprah's Big Give" is also slated to debut.
In addition to the new series, ABC previously announced season renewals for "Brothers & Sisters," "MEN IN TREES," "Ugly Betty," "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Boston Legal," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Dancing with the Stars," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "The Bachelor," "Supernanny," "America's Funniest Home Videos" and "Wife Swap."
"October Road" and "Notes from the Underbelly" will return for second seasons as well.
"We're heading into the new season with a strong lineup of returning shows that we've developed and nurtured over the past few years," said McPherson. "That solid foundation will help us launch an exciting development slate as we continue our forward momentum this fall. We're dedicated to working hard week after week to deliver the best stories and most memorable characters on TV."
During the 2006-07 TV Season, ABC's first season in decades without "Monday Night Football," the network solidified its dominance with women and in all upscale measures. And with the addition of "Ugly Betty," "Brothers & Sisters," "October Road" and "MEN IN TREES," ABC has added a new generation of broad-appealing, young, accessible dramas to its roster. ABC is the #1 network with Women 18-34 and Women 18-49, and is currently in second place for the season among Adults 18-49, leading both NFL-fueled CBS (with "Super Bowl 2007") and NBC (with "Sunday Night Football").
Excluding sports from the mix this season (to account for the loss of "Monday Night Football," the 2006 "Super Bowl" and the Bowl Championship series) ABC is the No. 2 network to Fox among Adults 18-49. The network airs 7 of the Top 20 TV series in the key young adult sales demographic. ABC retained 99% of its Total Viewers, 100% of its Adult 18-34 audience and 95% of its Adult 18-49 audience year to year in the "non-sports" averages. Additionally, ABC marked its second straight season as the No. 1 television network among advertiser-prized upscale, high-income Adults 18-49 (with/$100K+ annual income). And ABC is the only network whose May Sweep performance is up from a year ago.
As previously announced, "Saturday Night College Football" will return for a second season on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 (8:00 p.m., ET).
Editors please note: Shows picked up but not listed on the schedule will debut later in the 2007-08 season. Photographs are available on www.abcmedianet.com.

Grown-up Ned puts his ability to good use, not only touching dead fruit and making it ripe with everlasting flavor, but working with an investigator to crack murder cases by asking the deceased to name their killers. But the tale gets complicated, as all tales do, when Ned brings his childhood sweetheart, Chuck, back from the dead and keeps her alive. Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment, today outlined ABC's plans for next season and unveiled the network's 2007-08 fall schedule before a crowd of ABC affiliates and representatives of the advertising and media communities at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.
Scheduled to debut next season are four new comedy series: "Carpoolers," "Cavemen," "Miss/Guided" and "Sam I Am"; along with seven new drama series: "Big Shots," "Cashmere Mafia," "Dirty Sexy Money," "Eli Stone," "Private Practice," "Pushing Daisies" and "Women's Murder Club." During the 2006-07 TV Season, ABC's first season in decades without "Monday Night Football," the network solidified its dominance with women and in all upscale measures.

"Pushing Daisies"
From Bryan Fuller ("Heroes") and Barry Sonnenfeld ("Men in Black") comes an unprecedented blend of romance, crime procedural and high-concept fantasy in a forensic fairytale about a young man with a very special gift. Once upon a time, a mild-mannered boy named Ned realized he could touch dead things and bring them back to life. Chuck encourages him to use his power to help others, instead of merely solving mysteries and collecting the rewards. Life would be perfect for Ned and Chuck, except for one cruel twist: If he ever touches her again, she'll go back to being dead, this time for good.

"Cavemen"
Cavemen is a unique buddy comedy that offers a clever twist on stereotypes and turns race relations on their head. Inspired by the popular Geico Insurance commercials, the series looks at life through the eyes of the ultimate outsiders - three modern cavemen - as they struggle to find their place in the world. Joel, his cynical best friend, Nick, and easy-going little brother, Jamie, are contemporary cavemen who live in the suburban south and simply want to be treated like ordinary thirty-something guys. Despite their attempts at assimilation, Nick doesn't believe mainstream society will ever completely accept them, Jamie seems to take it all in stride and Joel straddles the middle, torn between his friends, his more traditional values and his loving fiance.

LOST has been cancled just like the Talk Back for it.
-
will be back in January or February. Big Shots looks like it has an amazing cast, btw.
-
Joe Simpson (Employee of the Month), as in Jessia and Ashlee's lecherous father? What, no role for Jessica? Perhaps the Medical Examiner? She could have gone to the same college as Tara Reid's Scientist in Alone in the Dark.
-
I have to admit, the first couple of seasons sucked but it's gotten a lot better. Plus Constance Marie and the daughter were always nice to look at.
-
the LA Times article from a few days ago? Can't find the link at the moment, but G-Lo was basically claiming that racism played a part in his cancellation.
-
but how freaking old am I that I think a series with Donald Sutherland and Jill Clayburgh is cool news?
Bonus fun fact to know and tell, Donald Sutherland is "24" star Keifer Sutherland's father. What do you want ot bet that someone's going to read that here who didn;t know that?
Glad DH, Grey's and Denny Crane! are still in place. *** I guess bumping Lost to February will allow the 16 episode arc into May sweeps. *** Elated to see an American schedule that doesn't have "According to a Jim" on it. *** "Big Shots" doesn't sound appealing as a concept, but the ensemble, featuring McDermott, Vartan, Titus, Turco and Long sounds impressive. *** Cavemen will be debuting with the lowest expectations of any series this century. Either it will be canceled the first night or it will amaze everyone by actually not sucking. Though neither seems possible. -
will suck the barbed cock of Satan and will be canceled before it even airs on the West Coast.
-
You see in the future Jack Bauer went back in time to protect Shirley Douglas from a time traveling killer robot... He ended up impregnating his own mother and is his own father... She went so crazy when she found out she named him Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland and Donald pretended to be the father to help protect young Keifer from other killer robots, until he reached the age of 8, at which point killer robots ran away at the sight of him... So there you go, Napoleon...
-
So ABC could not pick it up.....do the NFL have that much power? They did the same with Playmakers a few years back.
-
Anyone care to fill me in?
-
Dios mio. It's the best family sitcom on TV right now. I'm gonna miss it....
-
That would be my headline on Variety. If I were indeed the writer or editor. However, I am sort of laughing at the fact that Big SHOTS and Cashmiere Mafia are close to the same damn show. Way to go ABC! NICE CREATIVITY! Have fun being second or third this year. You are totally fucked if FOX ever finds a cross-over hit.
-
It could happen.
-
No Life on Mars. Although it's the Britishness of the 70's setting that partly makes it work. Oh and the pre-pc Gene Hunt. Half of what he says wouldn't be broadcastable on US Network TV.
-
Never mind the new ABC schedules, where the frick the Lost TB? I've checking it out the last coupla days, and now its has buggered off..what the story herc/moriaty?
-
gonna be 2 mores series of Jack Bauer 24
-
and when i mean watch i actually mean download good to see Peter Krause getting some work, i am completely gutted because it means there is no "The Lost Room". Sci-fi Instead opted for the shit fest that is Painkiller Jane
I've heard that LIfe on Mars is on hold, waiting for soem actors from the new series fallout, if krauses new gig falls through, maybe he can do Life On Mars, ( if you havent seen the BBC series, you are doing yourself a great misjustice -
Would you like some cheese with that whine? And playing race cards like you did to the LA Times yesterday are for losers.
-
I mean, seriously, aren't they the same show but with a different gender?
I must admit, I'm a little intrigued by Pushing Daisies. -
Jesse Jackson (since Jesse only cares about his minority).
-
My TV listing has it labeled "GREATEST HITS". Is it a recap episode?
-
Jesse Jackson only cares about himself, lol. But george Lopez has had several chances with his show and it really sucks ass.....so he just got to deal with it.
-
He has had many chances to make his show better but he stuck to the same routine. You would think ratings falling would make him try to change/do something to make them better but he just kept the same thing going. His fault and nobody elses.
-
They put it on before Bionic Woman? Damn you Howie!
Oh wait, Pushing Daisies is on at 8, ok, I'll watch that. Phew! I can only take so much Howie a week. -
easily the best SF(ish) programme the BBC has ever made...far superior (as it should be) to the higher profile Dr Who...anyone interested in good genre TV MUST see the original series (S1 is the better of the two however)
-
LOST TALK-BACK NOW!
-
That has got to be one of the most idiotic decision ever made in television history. Let the downhill slide continue.
-
Before the mouth frothing, and the biting, and the hey hey hey it hurts you.
-
Journeyman is a MAYBE; depends on if Heroes is on against 24 still (10pm slot is for watching whatever I tivo'd at 9). Frankly, I don't have much hope for the show so I'm not going to get my hopes up.
Caveman is a DEFINITE, although I bail on comedies really fast if they're not funny. I feel obligated to try this show out for at least three weeks.
Pushing Daisies is a PROBABLY. Reviews would have to be pretty bad for me not to give it a shot.
Bionic Woman is a DEFINITE. Although I will abandon it eventually if it sucks. -
As great as LIFE ON MARS is, there's no way it compares to episodes like "The Girl in the Fireplace," "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances," "The Parting of the Ways" or "Doomsday." And I'm sure the comparison will be even more evident when LOM star John Simm turns up in the Series 3 finale.
And while I'm at it, where the hell is the Region 1 LIFE ON MARS set? It's already aired on BBC America, so what's holding it up? Music rights issues?
-
This one's as good as any! Seriously, I'm hoping that Journeyman is good, and if CBS would put Babylon Fields on their schedule we'd have Lucius Vorenus AND Titus Pullo back on the air, which would be AWESOME. I loathe most procedural crime dramas, but I'm feeling like I might actually watch "Life", probably because Damian Lewis impressed me so much in "Band of Brothers" AND because it has the bombshell that is Sarah Shahi. Bionic Woman - I'll be there for sure, more for Katee Sackhoff's evil character, but this Michelle Ryan seems pretty decent from the clips I've seen. CHRTH, you really concern me with the Caveman comment, my friend. ;)
-
I hate to see it go. It was an enjoyable ensemble cast. Oh well... I needed to cut out a few shows anyway.
-
I just wish they were getting the actors from the commercial!
I don't recommend trying to turn a TB into a Lost one. TPTB have twitchy itchy trigger fingers. -
I'm starting to think the whole Charlie bites it thing is beginning to smell of fish. Any thoughts?
-
They will cancel most of the sorry crap premiering in the fall before the end of the year. If it isn't an instant hit, it's off the air. Reruns of AMERICAN GLADIATORS would probably do better than the new network shows.
-
To be honest, I'm kind of exhausted from participating in the Lost TB the past couple of days, and I have no idea what I'd talk about anyway. And about the Cavemen, that's kinda what I meant - the guys from the commercial nailed it. The promo pics from the show look SO cookie cutter - you've got the hippie caveman, the business caveman, and the slacker caveman. And they throw in two blondes AND John Heard? THAT poor guy MUST need the money - I guess he's not still getting royalties from "Home Alone."
-
Good riddance. They were the last of the really really bad sitcoms. Now, CBS needs to get rid of The Class in order to finish off the (just) really bad sitcoms.
-
Bionic Woman and Big Shots. Everything else will be gone in two weeks.
-
So George had to go and blame the white man for his shit show tanking. Its funny, his show was so bad, they are replacing him with a Geico Caveman. No respect for you George and I hope you end up blacklisted off tv. Its good to see Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton rubbing off on someone.
-
Sorry but I think the very hot Kate Walsh should stay with the Grey's cast. It just seemed like every cast member from a failed ABC show just showed up in that episode. Oh yeah and Santa Monica CA is definitely NOT like how it was portrayed that episode. All the while I was thinking "This is really awful, oh and how come Sark is in this episode? And why does this have cast members from every failed show on ABC? This is what they're gonna do with the Grey's spinoff? Good luck."
-
I like the concept. The preview looked good. I'm going to give it a chance and hope for the best. As for the cavemen...I wish they had kept the original actors, but I'll check it out anyway.
-
and you grow breasts. Jesus fucking christ, their lineup has become a pathetic estrogen-fest. They built the whole chick/gay centric lineup based on the success of Desp. H-wives (thank god it's now tanking), then Gray's Anatomy castrated the whole slate. Men in Trees? Women's Murder club? FUCK YOU!! Just watch...all the people that are supposedly gonna die on Lost will be Jack, Sayid, Locke, Hurley and Sawyer. They'll keep Jin, cuz he's basically a ball-less eunich...like anyone who tunes into the network.
-
is amazing. go check it out on BBC america if they are still running it. series 2 should start this summer. WAY cool British cop drama with a little bit of scifi. and it has nothing to do with "life on mars" just the bowie song. lol
-
Life on Mars and Thick of It, don't get picked up. Typical. Instead they go with basically retreads. Could people be any more boring?
-
Granted it was weird when his daughter was getting hotter than hi shot wife....
-
Where's the LOST talk back???
-
Are we being punished because someone posted the spoilers??
-
What did you expect to happen?
-
This sucks.
-
back when it was called "Thirtysomething". ABC should just rename itself ABC/Lifetime or ABC/Oxygen.
-
Any chance Footballers Wives and Knights of Prosperity show up midseason?
-
There isn't a single thing on that calendar I care to watch. Not one. Lost is the only thing I watch on ABC.
-
So what are we saying: TV is going to suck this next season? How could that be? It has never sucked before. I'm confused. Seriously though, may I recommend what I do? I no longer have cable, save $60 a month and I just watch DVDs. Or read a book. What about news, you say? Internet. I no longer have to watch overpaid, pretty people blather.
-
I need to see the American version of this show. Is the pilot available to download anywhere?
-
And said we need the fucking LOST talkback!
-
ABC decided to pick up "Cavemen", which is based on a series of commercials, but declined to pick up "The Thick of It", which is based on a delightful British comedy, produced by Arrested Development's Mitchel Hurwitz, and directed by Christopher Guest? That show had COMEDY GOLD written all over it.
-
Given how out of control it got. Skylar-eats-brains went into every single talkback and posted summarized spoilers. It is one thing if some of us can't help but read them but people should have a choice and not unexpectedly run into them. I was LOVING some of the stuff we were all talking about in the deleted talkback for the Lost spoilers but a few idiots (SKYLAR EATS BRAINS) ruined it for the innocent!
-
and, boy, are they pissed! It would seem that no one is going to tune in for the next 3 episodes of Lost because some twat has already told us what's going to happen. Now ABC are thinking of cancelling the show all together just to spite us! Consequently, the decision has been made that we're all being kept behind in detention, we're all off to bed with no supper, and no pocket money for any of us for the next 9 months, all because of one rogue, inconsiderate element amongst us.Hey, don't shoot me. I'm just the messenger...(P.S. The truth of the matter is that no one website is to blame for this circulation of spoilers. If it wasn't posted here, it would've been posted elsewhere - whether it be a Lost talk back on a fan site or a VD forum somewhere. This is the internet. It's what happens. If you're going to do anything, sack the person who leaked it...)
-
The Talkback exists but it isn;t visible to the world like it's a strange island in the middle of nowhere...
http://tinyurl.com/2s8zbp -
...as a possible midseason replacement. ABC announced this weeks ago.
-
ut this site is HUGE and the truth is once it was out there (and to be fair this site didn't even actually post the spoilers) it made the search for the spoilers more feverish!
This incident won't hurt ratings and if anything it will increase them but fans will watch regardless and those who don't like the show won't.
It is simple.
What bothered me was that someone went so far out of their way to destroy the experience for others and thankfully that person has either shut up or been banned.
If I didn't like a show and knew something that would spoil it for those who did I would keep it to myself but people lack manners online even more than in real life.
-
Geezus! The guy clearly has a thing against Lost and it's fans - he just couldn't accept, in that TB, that some people actually just enjoy watching it. Fk me! It's just a TV show! You either like it or you don't... but to go out of your way to be an absolute CNT and post spoilers on every TB possible, just to piss other people off, really does demonstrate his mentality. Dickhead.
-
This is ridiculous. You guys can't put up a friggin lost talkback so I can read about it while I'm bored at work. What good are you?
-
Don't put Friday Night Lights on Friday at 10:00! Put it on Tuesday at 9:00 and put Chuck (whatever the fuck) on Friday instead. If not, then when looking at the ratings take into account that no one watches TV on Friday night - they're all out at the movies they saw advertised on Thursday.
-
without the lost TB...and it makes me sad.
-
If You Watch ABC, Your Dick Falls Off
by Deandome
It definitely seems like it. -
I don't think the pilot has even been made yet (due to difficulties casting the leads). I'm guessing that ABC are waiting to see it before making a decision either way. So not a lock for the midseason, but not dead either.
-
but since the overlords on the site won't post a LOST talkback...
here's a link. It's in the invisotext.
http://tinyurl.com/2zjby9
Now please post the LOST talkback. -
How 'bout some guesses on some of the new fall shows? I think the Cavemen are going to be up to some zany antics, but learn a valuable life lesson at the end of the episode. Also, any chance that during the fight between the two Bionic Women they'll start making out?
-
http://tinyurl.com/2s8zbp
That is the whole discussion leading up to no talkback today. Many of the posts have been deleted. REMEMBER 32639!!!! WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU 32639!!!! -
If they cast Vicky for a special guest I will buy the DVD box set.
-
Are you as upset as the last time -- after the Kate episode when they didn't post the Lost Talkback when the site went down. I am.
-
It's getting rave reviews of all the pilots on any network. That's cool. The clip on TV Guide looks leagues better than The Bionic Woman With The Chubby Face.ABC's schedule is looking solid with the exception of Cavemen. Football Wives (I read on Ausiello) was a good soap in the vein of Melrose Place. Too bad they couldn't pick that one up. They could have totally put it on Monday's at 10 and cancelled The Bachelor. With train wrecks like I Love New York on the air, who needs The Bachelor? Also, they should consider bringing on Mr. & Mrs. Smith as a midseason replacement. ABC is lacking in the action category. Also I hope Lost is on at 9 again when it comes back in February. Or fuck it, reward Lost for the tons of revenue it provides to ABC by placing it on right after Grey's Anatomy. And whoever spoiled the "Game Changer" is an asshole. I'm glad there is no Lost talk back because I'm really trying to be spoiler free. I learned my lesson after the Naomi "There were no survivors" reveal that was spoiled for me on this site. It I had known nothing, that would have been a serious WTF!???! moment.
-
did it get zapped for chronic spoilerage?
-
Any true fan of the show wouldn't post an entire play by play of the episode and ruin it for others. The people who do shit like that can't be fans. It's like the idiots who talk loud about a movie while they exit the theater and ruin key plot points for the people waiting to enter the theater. Either way, ABC must have really layed the smack down on you guys if you had to zap the talkback.
-
This is officially unofficial.
-
That's my thought on it...but I could be wrong.
-
LOST it is.
-
This is 2x this season now. I would have never posted any of that... but you guys now have the wrath of Jimbo..... now please post the talkback so I can say how much I hope Mr. Friendly tries to hook up with Jin.
-
LOL... WOW!!!
If ABC doesn't want their shows spoiled maybe they shouldn't send out review copies or release them fully until the night of broadcast.
I hope the talkback is up tonight because I have a lot of catching up to do with Abin Sur and others but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a talkback until after next week's season finale given the uproar and if that is the case I am sure we are going to have a lot to talk about for the next 9 months. -
They didn't post the spoilers and when people got out of hand they nipped it responsibly.
ABC SHOULD BE MAD AT ABC!!! (But I'm not mad at ABC because I love you for supporting Lost and I almost forgive you for not giving Twin Peaks a third season.) -
You're nuts, man...although it's nice to remind everyone that I was FIRST on that infamous TB. ;)
-
Jimbo's is gone
-
That's some funny shit, guys.
-
...before giving shit to Herc and Mori. Obviously you ABC execs don't know how to keep a secret for shit. What I'd like to know is how this "Lostfan108" got a hold of the real deal, when most of his postings around the 'net have looked like BS?
-
Because the last talk back was about the finale and not even really about this weeks episode. Then Herc was sitting there teasing people like "You are not even close" and shit like that. You had to expect someone to come right out and blow up all the information to spite Herc and his "I know and you dont!" type posts. He should have saved that talk back until the day the finale aired.
-
I just had to get that out of me.
-
Life On Mars is much better than Dr Who, but it should be since Dr Who aims much broader...
-
Guess they do read it every week when we ask for the Lost talkback. Must be really funny for them too. Way to go AICN. Good to know you are regulatin'.
-
cuz that was CRAZYYYYY!!!! Funny thing. I joined a couple of other groups when the spoiler post was delted because I had to talk about this stuff with other Lost fans (the haters here were bugging me anyway) but the cool thing is that they have a lot of specific rules about spoiling in non-spoiler areas and some good moderators enforcing said rules. I prefer the talkbacks here (even with the occasional jaded, sarcastic, rude and juvenile) because there are some serious movie and tv lovers who make the experience very entertaining. If we could just get some new rules and some stricter enforcement I think we would see some improvement. I am all for censorship when applied to rude and nasty users.
-
It actually froze my computer. But when I re-booted it was gone. Sorry I'm taking it out on AICN because if Lostfan108 and smokemonster108. I am glad I read it though. Make it so much more fun to hold over my friends and families heads.
-
were getting annoying with their "neener neener, I know and you don't, hahahahah" posts. Serves them right someone showed them up and got Abc on their ass. Just a tad of professionalism (I know how completely retarded that sounds, considering what site i'm on) is a good thing once in a while.
-
...and I don't think you meant any harm.
I have mixed feelings about having read the spoilers but whether they are false or true really doesn't matter because I love the show more every episode. I have liked shows before but I have NEVER loved a show like I love Lost! My wife is irritated with me for reading them and she knows I want to discuss it with her but she isn't having it. Man, we are all going to have a lot of catching up to do because I have so many theories on all of this stuff. Next week is too far away. (Though I guess I should be happy with tonight's episode because even as irritated as I have been with Charlie's actions, I like his character and enjoy his episodes.) To be fair, for me there isn't a wasted character. I love them all. -
But now I MUST NOT MISS the episodes. I'm still not sure the leak wasn't intentional.
-
What did you post that got deleated. I just started reading this thread and am really confused.
-
just all 500+ posts of story 32639.
-
whats 32639 (the finale spoilerage?)
-
But the real important issue is who is going to get the axe on American Idol tonight. I'm so afraid for that Sanjaya feller. He semms so nice.
-
The story number. This one is 32677. It reminds me of the Alamo... which is always a soft spot for AICN.
-
Some freaky shit happens and the people at ABC are bitches.
-
He says that ABC owns Herc's ass.
-
...why not track down lostfan108 and kick his....hes pretty easy to track through GOOGLE anyway. Oh and I can't believe that ABC picked up Cavemen....that thing is going to blow goats.
-
When Harry leaves the country....
-
Nope. That's what AICN is all about. Something like this happened to me once, when in high school I crashed the folks car and flooded the downstairs bath 'cause of a party - all while my folks were on vacation. If Harry's out of country, he's going to come home to a wrecked car, plugged toilets, trash in the frontyard and the cat will be pregnant, with some of our favorite contributors trying to push the family livestock 'through the fence' if you get my drift. Talk about "I Can't Look Away" syndrome. In a related note, does this mean there's no "Lost" talkback today? They've gone so well in the past. This may mean we have trust issues in this relationship, and if we're not going to work together to grow together, it would be best - certainly for the kids - to write our names in our favorite books and try and rent the place out. Just kind of mosey in our own directions.
-
now go forth and suicide bomb every AICN talkback with that knowledge.
-
weeks ago? Interesting read.
-
a new name... He put a lot of energy into this yesterday and is likely back because I noticed brox is doing it in the same manner with the same wording. People shouldn't have to find out by accident. E-mail Mori or Herc and alert them. It is worth it. This is just rude and thoughtless behavior and worthy of a solid beating.
-
They are already on it as his posts appear to have been deleted but I am sure he will keep on signing up as a different name. This guy is scum! If I am correct he is the one who loves Heroes but hates Lost (I guess it is against the law to like both or something) and was actively trying to upset people and spoil Lost. If I was ABC I would air the finale as a 3 hour special tonight and again next week before this thing gets out of control but my real question is why ABC didn't do a better job of keeping at least the finale under wraps? Too many people have access to the output of the show if this can happen, or something?
-
I can't recall the name(s) but there were others doing the complete spoiler in the Heroes TB before SEB was erased.
-
Has there been something that has YET to be spoiled on the internet? It's Wild West terrority, you know what you're getting into. If Al Gore invented the internet 20 years earlier people would still be complaining how they knew JR got shot before it happened.
I need to get Lost theories off my chest so here it goes...(having read spoilers)
How does "you know who" know to go to the "you know what" to stop "you know who" just in time? Doesn't make any sense? And why would "the other you know who" need "her" to do "that" with him? Is "she" pivotal to completing "his" task? Can't he just do "it" without "her"?
-
think about it
-
I am guessing all crazy hi-tech. More so than the other ones.

When Harry the Headgeek is away, the children will play...between Lost and Veronica Mars being out, then in, then on the fence, then as a midseason replacement, then Kristen Bell being the prospective voice of the CW's new 'Gossip Girl' show, it's just been a non-stop train wreck of a day. Just sayin'.

Victim: "Wha- what happened,? Where am I, who are you? The knife (gun,
plastic bag, pillow, ballbat, etc.)..."
Gifted detective: "Relax, calm down. I have the power to revive the
dead for a brief period of time. Since you witnessed your own murder,
I need you to tell me who your killer was?"
Victim: "What? I'm DEAD?"
Gifted detective: "Yes, Can you tell me who killed you? Did you see
your murderer?"
Victim: "You said 'briefly'! How much time do I have?"
Gifted detective: "About ten minutes, Now concentrate, this is
important. Who killed..."
Victim: "No, that's NOT important, you idiot. Get me a phone! I have
to call my (wife/husband/child/other important person) and tell them
(I love them/I forgive them/ ask them to forgive me/where the key to
the bank safety deposit box is). You dragged me out of the afterlife
for this? So I could tattle on my killer? Vengence isn't important,
love is what's important. I see that now... it's all so beautiful..."
Gifted detective: "Please, who killed you...?"
Victim: "You broght me back to life for ten minutes so you could argue
with me? here, if you won't give me a phone, deliver a message for me.
Write this down: "Dear..."
Gifted detective: "Please, your killer is still at large and we have
to find him before he kills again!"
Victim: "Well, when you put it that way... Okay, it was... Oh. MY.
GHOD... That light, it's so beautiful... Mom? Dad?... Scooter?..."
Gifted detective: "Wait, wait, quick, you have to tell me..."
Victim: "It's so beautiful... so peaceful..."
Gifted detective: "Please! WHO KILLED..."
Victim: " ... "
Gifted detective: "Aw dammit, not again..."

...but it still made me laugh!!!
-
I enjoyed the episode but I failed to see how this was the game changing episode. It was an average episode, that set up some potentially great stuff for the finale, which is hardly surprising. I was kkind of disappointed though.
-
the season finale is the "game changer" I am sure if you ask nicely a talkbacker can help you out with how, specifically, the game changes
-
I hope next week blows me away, rather than my lukewarm response to tonight's.
-
Pure set up for next week. Nothing much happened. Lame, compared to the past 3 or so eps.
-
I was a pure set up for next week, but I really enjoyed it. Very sad though.
-
in that it was very much like the last breath before the dive. i for one will miss charlie. if ever there was a time for charlie to get laid....that was it.

the CBS thread has been hijacked for Lost

when they read the headline about Brian not being back in the fall, that the dog from Family Guy had gotten fired? *** because I moderate a media discussion group I sometimes watch debut episodes of new shows I might not ordinarily watch. "What About Brian" nearly made me chew off my foot, it was one of the worst one hour endurance tests I can recall ever sitting through. Not that it was entirely evil, just that it was radically not what I wanted. "Brothers and Sisters" a close second in that regard. Oh, LOST LOST LOSTLOSTLOST and LOST and so on. It's Tom Poston all over again.

What's an edit function?
I moderate several Yahoo! discussion groups. You can post messages to an archive. You can edit up until you click "Send". Once posted, the person who posted the message, the moderator and the group owner (if different from the mod) can delete the message. I have posted messages at IMDb, FARK, MySpace, various blogs... very briefly at TV w/o Pity before they banned me for I never knew what. I have never seen any site, group, chat or forum that allowed you go go back and edit or alter a post after it has been posted. I keep seeing people asking for things like numbered posts (which yahoo offers) and an "edit function". That I don't understand. I'm typing this, I can proof read it, edit it, change typos and misspellings... thanx to tabbed browsing in firefox I can even go look things up on another sire, check spelling with a dictionary, make revisions, remove sentences... even choose not to post the message at all. Up until the point I hit "post comment", at which time it's there for good somewhere in the archives, unless the ptb here choose to delete it. I'm not suggesting you're asking for a unicorn or something else that doesn't exist, but what site or group or bloc does allow you to edit a post after it's been posted.? Because I don't know of any. Sorry this isn't on topic for Lost or, uh, whatever the hell this talkback is about. But a number of people (or maybe one or two very persistent people) have mentioned wanting an edit function and I'm confused. Is there such a thing and where can it be seen? [another thing you can do is write your entire message in wordpad or notepad or metapad or word or whatever, then edit and spellcheck to your hearts content until your gem of wit is polished like a pearl, then cut and paste it into the message box here. Especially handy for longer messages or if your computer or web browser has a tendency to freeze up or crash while you're in the middle of composing a post.] -
Someone mentioned George Lopez was canceled because Cane fill the "one Latino show" network quota. Actually "Cane" is a large ensemble show a bout a large Latino family, and therefore ALL Latino actors are on it... living in the same apartment. See, if I really thought that was racist I could choose not to post it. That's my 'edit function'. I have Latino familys living on either side of me. On the one side it's just a couple and they rarely have guests, but on the other side... you should hear their all evening lawn parties on weekends.
Seriously, George Lopez might think he had the only Latino show on network TV... Tell it to Gabrielle and Carlos on "Desperate Housewives", Hugo Reyes (and Nikki and Paulo) on Lost, Callie O'Malley on "Grey's Anatomy" DA Manuel Devalos on "Medium", half the cast of "Ugly Betty"... Sure George, you'll be missed. Could you please take that German thug Carlos Mencia with you on your way out of the building? -
... for airing the Caveman show. The commercials are about as funny as fossilized mastodon turds, and they go and make a series about it?!?!? Stupid networks. --Though Pushing Daisies seems to have potential... so it'll probably get cancelled 15 minutes after the first episode airs. Oh well, more books, DVDs and Web-time for me.

Where's the fuckin LOST talkback???????????????????????
-
and TheRealMoriarty stepped up and addressed the lack of a Lost talkback without going into any specific details or explanations or accepting any culpability on the part of AICN for the foolish misstep of posting a no-spoiler non-article that incited the so called "rabid percentage" or spoiler posting talkbackers. So enough with the "where's the Lost talkback" posts, there will either be one next week for the season finale or in February of 2008 when the series returns. Deal with it.

(1) I'm pretty confident that the silent majority of talkbackers, myself included, are pretty upset by the actions of the few people who decided to hijack all the talkbacks with Lost spoiler information. (2) I'm fairly confident that if the AICN powers-that-be provide open disclosure and update its readership with the reasons for censorship (i.e. - deleting posts/taking down talkbacks), we will forgive and move on. (3) Unfortunately, the internet is like a elementary school playground where typically there is no fear of reprimand... this often works to everyone's advantage if people can remain caring and mature. However, when a few bullys come along, the situation quickly spirals out of control. AICN, please remember the vast majority of your readership never posts in the talkbacks, they just stalk, and the vast majority of those that do post, are just looking for a good community of true fans to discuss our favorite shows, movies, comics, books, etc....

Harry and the rest of the crew bow down to ABC and don't offer a TB for LOST? Why? Because a couple of spoiler-rich dicks decide to TRY and ruin it for everyone? Here's a tip guys: People (myself included)posting to the LOST TB expect dickheads like these guys to do this. The internet (AICN included) is not a safe place to be if you don't want to be suprised with a spoiler or two. If we are coming to your website (which is how you make a living, might I add) to visit the LOST TB, then we are on the lookout for asshats posting spoilers. Sometimes a plot point is spoiled, but guess what we still tune in and watch the show. If ABC is trying to link a decline in viewership with spoilers, they are barking up the wrong tree. Either that or you guys need to seriously reevaluate your influence on popular entertainment and start asking for more advertising dollars... Thanks for trying to protect us from shitknuckles who want to spoil a show, but we are all big boys and girls. We can take care of ourselves.

I have lost all respect for George Lopez. I used to think he was just a one trick pony who had parlayed his Hispanic ethnicity into one long running joke. It was kinda funny, but it got old after a while (kind of like Mencia is becoming). For him to blame white people for his show's demise is racist in of itself and it shows his lack of character. His show tanked because it was the same joke each week and the people get tired of being told each week how Hispanics are better at everything and white folks are dumb/evil/stupid. I hope he's blacklisted, oops I mean "brown"listed.

. . . that finds that black chick on the Grey's spinoff, the one who played Deacon's wife on King of Queen's, smokin' hot as hell? Tall, nice rack, and actually dark skinned??? Yowza!!!! I hate to change the subject and all . . .
-
Merrin Dungey, who will play Naomi on "Private Practice", the Grey's spin-off, was Kelly on KofQ and had a recurring duel role on "Alias", first as Sydney Bristow's roommate, then as a genetically engineered "evil twin" duplicate assassin who killed and replaced the roommate and became one of Sydney's arch enemies. And she can handle herself in a cat-fight. Too bad Kelly and Carrie never went at it. Oh well, maybe Naomi and Addison will keep getting on each others nerves...
-
That's it. That was the punchline.

Mr Spork asked "What's so great about Grey's Anatomy?" and commented: "It would be right at home on Lifetime."
Grey's Anatomy is a well written evening soap opera dramedy. It mixes clever, witty humor with often tear-jerking pathos. Nearly every episode is named after a popular song title. Last year's two part "It's The End Of The World/As We Know It" earned well deserved Emmy nominations for script writing and guest star Christina Ricci. It has some very attractive female leads, from baby-faced Katherine Heigl to handsome Kate Walsh to the very talented actress Sandra Oh, who may not have conventional American 'prettiness', but has a classic beauty found in ancient Chinese art. It combines individual self contained stories about the medical cases which are often done in one episode with strong continuity that stretches subplots out over the course of a season.
Sometimes the characters fail to save lives, but unlike most police procdural or superhero shows, they never deliberately set out to kill anyone.
It has a cast of handsome males and troubled, flawed females that makes the show very appealing to women and gay and bisexual males. And a lot of eye candy to appeal to the straight guys (and gay girls) in the audience. It has a culturally diverse cast of African-Americans, Caucasians, Asians and Latinas as well as a mix of fat/skinny, tall/short, straight/gay cast members that gives it the most culturally balanced series this side of one of those cast by quota Star Trek shows. And the black characters, chief of surgery, the person in charge of assigning the interns their cases, the head of cardio-thoracic surgery, are all in positions of authority, rather than being the sidekicks or best friends or assistants. That does not mean the show's a bigot detector: it is no doubt possible to not like the series withough being a racist or a homophobe. It may be touted as a medical drama, but there is no doubt about it, it is every bit as much a soap opera as General hospital, Desperate Housewives, Heroes or L*st (or classic evening soaps like Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue). Not everyone likes non-sci-fi genre shows, not everyone likes romantic comedy, not everyone likes love stories. And sure it would be "right at home" on a women's network. But as long as about 53% of the population is female, pretty much all of the TV networks except maybe "Spike" or the Playboy Channel are "women's networks", so what's wrong with that?
