I haven't seen any of this season, but I am surprised how little conversation there is about it. This used to be the "Did you see it?!" show. Now, I sometimes forget it's even on anymore. These long breaks between seasons (and within seasons) are not good for keeping the interest up.
-
I think it's the last time he get's upstaged. You think Tony's revelation has anything to do with this?
-
Sorry
-
Big Gay Vito Jr. take a steaming shit in the shower and step in it. That's good TV.
-
i see it all clearly now!
-
when do you think it stopped being a show you wouldnt dare miss to a show that if you miss and episode, you dont even care that you did??
-
The show just stopped being great. Hell maybe even season 3. I remember the first 2 seasons being fantastic, I don't remember 3 all that well. I remember four being kinda booring, and season five being lame. And so far with season six, I feel like I am watching Grumpier old men instead of the Sopranos
-
Is in many ways the best. No Livia, Ralphie comes to a head, New York starts to come into its own, and Meadow gets hot.
-
Maybe Finn will get raped now...
-
....than that disappointing piece of crap episode from last week.
-
Because that is what Chase has been serving up for years now. Waterdowned soup.
-
More like...Tony goes apeshit on New York when Phil puts a bullet in Meadow's head.
-
Thank you for revealing a spoiler to us.
-
funny freudian slip, possibly from someone actually down syndrom. if forgetting the "s" on the end of coenbros. is any indication. or do you just like one of them?if sopranos is watered down (or waterdowned) what hard hitting shows are you currently watching at your mom's house? Lost?the sopranos is still great. complaining about the show not being as "hard" as it used to be is like hooking up with giselle, then whining that she farts in her sleep.
-
C'mon these people were begged to come back and end the show. They can shoot smack and walk through the final episodes and no one would care.
The coma season was duller than watching rocks turn to dirt. This one is slightly better.
So far what has been likeable except Tony getting decked for finally crossing a line.
Personally I would enjoy seeing the show ending with a long John Woo gun battle where every fucking single one of these goddamned deadbeats dies from multiple bullet wounds.
Or maybe they could move that Heroes nuke to Jersey.
-
thats what i remember.
-
If Memory Serves me Right, they killed of Adriana in season Five. The current season is 6. So Your saying it got booring this season? WRONG. It Got Booring After season 3.
-
Zing! You sure got me. Sorry about the grammar mistake, though you response is rife with errors as well. Thus I assume you are also retarded. My point is, The Sopranos is watered down. Chase has known since the start how this show would end. He knew what would happen in between as well. And sure it evolved a bit, but every time a new season was added, he had to add crappy watered down episodes of the show to stave of the ending as long as possible. This show, eh, not so good anymore. Lost, also watered down. It's the plight of TV. Oh, and I don't watch TV in my Mom's basement. I don't have a basement. I live in LA. Where I work. In the TV industry. In a fairly high and creative position. And it makes me sad that shows become this way because people need to drag things out as long as possible to make as much money as possible. Artistically speaking, Chase would have never made the show last this long, but the money was too much to say no too. See also, the X-Files. Oh, and Coenbro is not a mistake. The implication is that I am also a Coenbro.
-
it seems like it is.
-
A Live Action Ghostbusters TV Series starring, Bruce Campbell, Kevin Weissman, Nathan Fillion... thats all I can think of so far, maybe written by Minear, Whedon. What do you think? Yeah it's a fanboy's dream, but if done correctly, and for HBO, it could be GREAT!!!
-
This season is certainly one of the best. This episode was the best of the year, by far. Great acting and writing all around. The Destruction of the Family Soprano. Superb writing.
-
I'm sure the bitchers will disagree because they wanted half the cast knocked off by the second episode.
-
im waiting for another BSG/Sopranos connection.
-
Meanwhile, Lowell can turn into sand.
-
All of Christopher's woes doesn't seem to affect his aim. Almost a little Kid Shelleen thing going on there. Pass the Cutty Sark.
-
The original cutthroat power family...
-
when a wasted christopher knocked on his front door, you knew it was over for JT. Maybe he can come back as a zombie, shoot up more heroin, gamble away his bmw again, and finally finish that Law and Order script.
-
That's what I called Tim Daly's character when he showed up on screen. He's just an unlucky fool who got mixed up with the wrong people. There's gonna be consequences to this. I don't think Chris had enough of his faculties to cover anything up. Fingerprints, etc. And he murdered a guy who's not connected. This is gonna lead to some seriously bad shit.
-
The Sopranos has been on pretty much a three season let down for me. This episode was a breath of fresh air. Finally everything is moving in the right direction. Maybe Chase can pull this off after all. Also how freaking cool was the Big Love trailer?
-
BizarroJerry -- JT opened the door, Christophuh touched nothing except his pistol. As Chrissie opened & closed the door, he wrapped the doorknob in his shirttail. Drunk, but a pro...
-
The haters don't know any other way to be. It's depressing knowing it's almost over, but the show is top-shelf! In my view, it's the finest tv drama ever assembled! I just knew Chrissy was gonna plug Paulie at the bar. And what about the heartache Chris continues to have regarding Adrianna? He can't let it go. And who can blame him really? And how about the continuing cycle of Soprano men w/ theorpy?
-
...I'm talking HUGE, 'cause this and last season has been fucking worthless. Seeing how much better tonight's episode is compared to what's come before, proves it. They better not end it with a shot of the family together or Tony sitting/standing alone, or some other weak shit like that. I am so scared that its taken near eight seasons to just have an ending shot of Tony sitting outside the office, or something like that. And I swear to God if the ending has anything to do with ducks, I'm throwing something at my T.V. What happened to GREAT series finales? ST. ELSEWHERE, NEWHART, etc. Now its just the cast leaving a room together and turning off the light, or some other bullshit like that. Anthony better kill himself. Carm better leave Tony. Meadow better get into a car accident. Christopher better kill Paulie or bring down Tony. SOMETHING-BETTER-HAPPEN. Please don't give this series a candy-assed finale.
-
making typos is not the same as butchering the english language. waterdowned is just plain ridiculous to write, unless you are drunk, a non-native english speaker, or retarded. in retrospect, you don't seem retarded, so I will go with drunk.and I'd love to hear more about your high up creative TV industry position, lol. considering you had trouble posting your rant in the correct TB, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this position you're referring to is about as high up as a snake's belly button.
-
The acting is still great, the drama is still there, and the humor is very funny in each episode, but I think Chase ran out of ideas in season 4, and that is when you saw boring plotlines like Carmella falling in love with Furio, or Janice & Bobby with that damn Ziti in the freezer for 4 episodes!! The show is still good, and it is still better then most crap on TV, but Chase was originally suppose to do only 4 seasons, but he went for the $$$$$$$$$, which I don't blame him, and the show has been going through the motions for the past 3 seasons, and I think so many fans like myself have just gotten a combination of long hiatus fatigue where you lose interest, and just waiting for something to happen, that many of us have stopped caring about the show, and are just watching it now to get to the end. And I still say the death of Nancy Marchand in real life hurt the show big time, cause she was the source of most of Tony's emotional problems and I think some of the heart was lost from the show the day she died. Remember Tony, Junior, and Livia were three main characters in Season 1.
-
I thought there were 10 but according to Hercs countdown there are 9 or is he just a bad counter. Anyway now I see why they spent so much pointless time in season 5 showing Meadow's crazy roomate it was so she could recognize that AJ was suicidal (for 2 days). More shit writing from Chase and the boys.
-
Where are they going with AJ? It seems like they should have done this episode a year or two ago. It almost seems like that spot of violence got him over his depression. Or possibly made it worse. Either way, despite Tony not wanting him in his line of work, I always thought it was necessary to satisfy the fatalistic theme in this show. And with Johnny Sac, Phil and Tony all playing the cry baby at times, AJ would be a good fit. It's too late to go down that path though.
I really hope the finale puts this season in a better light. It seems all over the place. On the plus side, I'm starting to get interested in Christopher's story again. Although that's probably because we're approaching the end. Each shooting seems more significant now then they did in earlier seasons. He's more trapped than any of them, so I assume that he'll definitely die before the end. -
I always figured there was different catagories for Soprano fans.If you watch it for people getting shot in the head, whats the problem. And if youve been watching for the characters, whats the problem? That episode had it all. What Chrissy had to say in AA.What Tony had to say @ Dr Melfis.Everything going on in AJs circle("Tony Soprano jr")People are complaining he shoulda been depressed LONGER?? WTF?If youve been watching from the jump its all paying off."Jumped the Shark"Thats so overused. On Happy Days they had Fonzy jump a shark on his motorcycle because the show went on so long they ran out of ideas. That isnt happening here at all and it hasnt in the past.Give me an example where something similar has.Im sure if you try,you will only end up exposing yourself as someone who thinks its meant to be "The Tony show".Enough with the bullshit lames
-
that would be tough...I think he was on waterskis...
-
I thought he jumped a pool with a shark in it..I dont fuckin know!Who the hell watches Happy days!Heres your season finale then:Tony jumps over the bear in his backyard swimming pool, while hes in the air he shoots the bear in the fuckin head and then he lands on the ducks.Roll credits
-
The actors make this show now, not the storyline. We have all invested years in these characters, and now it is coming to a head so alot of fans are just kinda seeing it through. I am not saying the show sucks, even an average Soprano episode is better then most TV shows, but I believe Chase has run out of ideas and he is just pulling stuff out a hat to get to the finale. Christopher finally believing these guys are not loyal cause they are bustin his balls? Christopher is the king of bustin balls! And this AA stuff, remember last year when he was all looped up with that crackhead when they had to find a 'third' party to take out the mayor of munchkinville? He didn't seem to have a problem then hanging out with the guys, but Chase needed a reason for Tony & Christopher to grow apart, so now it is about that he cant' drink with the guys anymore. And since when did Tony become this big gambler last week, that is as jazzed up as Silvio getting Ashtma so he couldn't be boss last season. These episodes shouldn't still be setting things up, everything should be in motion and all the motives for each character should be in play by now, and this season should have been about resolution, when instead we get Vito's kid shitting himself, although that was pretty funny.
-
In an ocean, not a pool. Too many people use the expression to simply say that a show has gotten worse, but it has to represent a WTF moment where you realize that the show is so radically not what it was once about. Most shows these days don't have that. They have their ups and downs. The closest anything has come to a true "jump the shark" moment in recent times would have to be that BSG season finale. The Sopranos may have many failings in recent years, but it's hasn't ever radically changed. It's more of a slow rot. I'm still looking forward to these last four however.
-
I'd say that the show has definitely been improved this last handful of episodes, but it still moves too slowly and is often predictable in a bad way.
Perfect example: We did all know that Christopher was going to kill JT. And it isn't what those of us in the boobies/whacking contingent want, either. Whackings have to be significant, and this was not.
Sopranos is still interesting and well-acted, but the drop-off in interest is widely apparent (just look at this talkback) and I think it is due to the navel-gazing nature of the show since, really, the 3rd season. -
let me say that I love this show- and so far I loved all of the episodes of 6.2. HOWEVER- even though I loved last night's episode- the ONLY thing new that happened was Tony telling the feds about the Middle East guys. We've heard Christopher complain about his sacrifices, we've seen the guys ribbing him over not drinking, we've seen him and Paulie go at it many times. We've seen AJ get excited playing a mini-mobster. We've seen Tony get emotional in Melfi's saying i sthis all there is and the therapy isn't working. As far as Christopher killing the screenwriter- we've seen Christopher kill civilians before so why start thinking he's gonna get caught for this one? When do we see anyone on this show get busted for murder? Practically never. But- it was an entertaining episode. Great acting- and the sense of dread and doom gets more palpable with each episode.
-
I tend to think that's a very common problem with alcoholics or users. They can't hang around with the people they used to because of all the using going on. I'd say he's finally realized why he keeps relapsing; because all of the drinking and drugs at places like the Bing. He got so upset about being made fun of this time because even while drunk, he realizes that he just starting drinking again for the sake of these people and they're just laughing at me and don't care. At JT's he's realizing he threw away months of being sober for no good reason and loses it. Plus, I don't remember when he last killed a civilian, but this time he had no reason to do it. Oh, and did anyone else think how stupid Tony is for suggesting it's good for AJ to go out drinking? Yes, there's nothing better for depression than alcohol!
-
no reason to kill him? how about the fact that he just spilled info on like 3 secrets that could put him and others in the family away for life?
-
Maybe you're right about that one, Wonka, but I can't imagine this is just going to go away. This late in the game, it's gotta lead to something. And even if it doesn't, I was still shocked when he did it. I expected the poor bastard to get his ass kicked again.
-
you know, he comes home, he sees the yeard all messed up (by paulie, and he did not retaliate) he just murdered a friend, he's drinking again, etc. I thought he would off himself, then tony would blame paulie, etc. I guess we'll see.
-
Of course it was. Tony was right, Carm was wrong. Especially at that age. The depressant effects of alcohol aren't going to begin to compare to just sitting around, fawning over some lost love.
As for Christopher shooting a civilian, they usually deserve it (gambling debts, etc). I remember he shot that clerk in the foot, but I don't think he killed him. I agree that these guys have murdered without repercussions for some time now, but the show only has four more eps and is not known for having all that many shootings. That makes each shooting from this point on potentially more significant than those that came before. -
Christopher is in deep shit because he's been talking too much. The guy at AA whom he was talking to in the stairwell will probably put two and two together when he hears of JT's death. Chris will go down, but sell out Tony and the gang for a lighter sentence. Tony will get a lighter sentence for helping the Feds. At least, that's one way it could go.
-
It is so hard to figure out that he is purposely moving slow in the last few episodes? It's called The Sopranos: The Movie. Chase will not kill off any major characters, because he knows the $$$ a big screen movie will bring in. I can see him purposely ending with a cliffhanger, just to build interest in a movie.
-
Best episode in years (literally, given how long it's been between seasons.) Not one false note. If this is how they plan to go out, they're going in style.
-
listening to a very exciting story being told by Porky Pig. There's so much stammering you sit there yelling out the next sentence. WE ALL KNOW ALREADY THAT AJ IS DEPRESSED AND THAT CHRISTOPHER AND PAULIE HAVE ISSUES!!! We don't need another entire episode to reiterate that. GET ON WITH THE STORY- GET TO THE FINISH!!
Goddamn they better blow everyone's head off or I'm gonna be spitting blood for all the time I've wasted. -
Almost tops last weeks "stop watching tv land and start sucking cock" as the line of the year
-
The acting, the drama, the characters! Tony's speech in Melfi's office, Paulie's landscaping service, AJ "getting into character" at the "acid party", R.I.P. to Tim Daly, who should NEVER open the door to Christafuh (and won't anymore!) and party time at the Bing...Wow! Great one, sorry there's only a few more left...
-
murder that comes to mind by Christropher of someone not connected is that waiter that Pauly and Chris killed when they were fighting over leaving a tip
-
that is
