HELLBOY 2 gets a villain!!

Published at:  May 02, 2007 5:11:12 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little tidbit that hit yesterday about Guillermo Del Toro's HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY.

He's reached back into his cache and pulled in Luke Goss to play a villain in the sequel. Goss played the main baddie, Nomak, in BLADE 2. I guess any sequel Guillermo directs has to have this guy as a baddie. It's in his contract.

Goss plays Prince Nuada, who commands an army of deadly creatures.

All the other major characters return, including Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz Sherman and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien.

I'm a big fan of the first film and I am very much looking forward to seeing what they can come up with for the sequel, where they're not restricted by having to backstory a dozen characters.

Jared Nomak is not "the main baddie" in BLADE 2. He is in fact a tragic victim of his father, who is the main baddie. (Although he does have the best fight against Blade.) From what Mr. Goss said in his interview on whichever other web sight I read it on, he will be playing a similar type of villain in this one, he is in opposition to humanity but he is not evil, he has a legitimate motivation.
Anyway, I don't want to be a picker of nits, but when it comes to BLADE and BLADE II I think we as a society demand a certain amount of accuracy and accountability.

When I read he was playing the villain in Blade II, it made my teeth hurt that they were going to ruin the sequel with that pretty boy out of Bros, and then it turns out he's really good. Nice one, Luke Goss.Anyway, I hope this Hellboy II is better than the first one, which I thought was just okay. I loved Ron Perlman in that role, though, so it'll be good to see him back. How can you not love a big-hearted demon who listens to Tom Waits while he works out?

Was better than Elektra and Ghost Rider that's for sure. The BPRD not being your typical superheroes investigating paranormal occurences. My kind of movie. I agree with emeraldboy. Ron Perlman was/is perfect as Hellboy. Just like Toby Maguire nailed it as Spiderman and Chris Evans as the Human Torch. This flick will be out in 2008? Damn, can't wait..

I wonder if this has anything to do with a certain silver-armed King of the Faerie folk in Irish myth? And when I say faeries, I'm not talking about the little winged Victorian tinkerbells, but the kick ass warriors who loved their battles, their magic and their sex.

Didn't enjoy the 1st one as much as I thought I would as there was a lot of set up for normal people and Hellboy came across as a bit immature which was not the impression of him I got in printed form, however I watched Sword Of Storms the other night and I enjoyed it,that was more like it.I'm watching Blood and Iron this weekend.I'll watch Hellboy 2,hope it's good.

    by superninja

that impressed with the first film, with the exception of Hellboy himself. Of particular disappointment was the handling of the supernatural element - it needs to get the atmosphere of the comic books right first and foremost. It was not nearly strong enough emphasis, it was just bad costumes and cheezy characters.

Ooh, Rasputin, a clockwork Nazi, John Hurt, giant squid, Satanic rites, a glove that shoots zappy power; a stargate; uh, hold on, what's going on; the clockwork Nazi just fell down a hole, John Hurt is dead and there's a stinky 'who am I and why do I love girls' story clogging up Ron Perlman's juices. Spazzy and boring. Pan's Labyrinth owned this nonsense.

This is old news but Luke Goss is a good choice. He played a formidable villain in Blade II and I'm sure Guillermo will be able to make good use of him again. I felt Rasputin was a rather weak villain, a feature which hurt the first film. Hopefully, the next chapter will correct that flaw.

As far as it goes for Hellboy2: Great, i just Recorded Hellboy via DVB-T on DVD a few days ago, and i'll be looking forward for this one. Right after I've seen Transformers, i'll be mostly looking forward to this. I hope he won't be hurting the noobie from the first part in his jealousy again.
