HELLBOY 2 gets a villain!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little tidbit that hit yesterday about Guillermo Del Toro's HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY.
He's reached back into his cache and pulled in Luke Goss to play a villain in the sequel. Goss played the main baddie, Nomak, in BLADE 2. I guess any sequel Guillermo directs has to have this guy as a baddie. It's in his contract.
Goss plays Prince Nuada, who commands an army of deadly creatures.
All the other major characters return, including Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz Sherman and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien.
I'm a big fan of the first film and I am very much looking forward to seeing what they can come up with for the sequel, where they're not restricted by having to backstory a dozen characters.

Any ways, bring on some good ol' Hellboy action. The first was good fun!
-
I'm sure he was in Bros!
"When will I be famous? I can't answer, I can't answer that" -
British boy bands are creepier than the ones in the States.
-
Surely this came out last week or even before? He's playing "The Prince" or somebody. Get with it, AICN!
-
I can't answer
I can't answer that...
When will I see my picture in the paper?
I can't answer
I can't answer that...
(well alright, Blade II!)
nice one, quality actor, loved his work in Blade II, i'm off to watch Pans Labyrinth tonight with my cousins kid, should scare him up good! keep it up Del Toro! -
...and start dancing like you've got the rest of the bottle stuck up your bum.
-
This is OLD news, it was on comingsoon last week. As much as it pains me to criticize my favourite website, the finger seems to be a little "off the pulse/jammed up the ass" a bit these days!!
-
And im sure SHH had a short interwiew with him about his role?
-
...I'm sure it'll be a fun flick. :)
-
is he returning?
-
... but not as GREAT as some have made out. Indeed, apart from the few screws that I'm missing from my faculties am I missing something else from what has been described by some as, 'the. best. comic. movie. ever.???? Phu-lease!
C'mon dick-heads, you know who you are! What say you? WHAT SAY YOU? -
Jared Nomak is not "the main baddie" in BLADE 2. He is in fact a tragic victim of his father, who is the main baddie. (Although he does have the best fight against Blade.) From what Mr. Goss said in his interview on whichever other web sight I read it on, he will be playing a similar type of villain in this one, he is in opposition to humanity but he is not evil, he has a legitimate motivation.
Anyway, I don't want to be a picker of nits, but when it comes to BLADE and BLADE II I think we as a society demand a certain amount of accuracy and accountability. -
Does that mean Del Toro changed his mind?
-
A shame, I quite liked his character being a successor to Prof Broom.
-
When I read he was playing the villain in Blade II, it made my teeth hurt that they were going to ruin the sequel with that pretty boy out of Bros, and then it turns out he's really good. Nice one, Luke Goss.Anyway, I hope this Hellboy II is better than the first one, which I thought was just okay. I loved Ron Perlman in that role, though, so it'll be good to see him back. How can you not love a big-hearted demon who listens to Tom Waits while he works out?
-
... to six days ago when I first read this on shocktillyoudrop.com! ... Still cool news so I guess it still counts here - not called "Aint It First News"...
-
i talked with El Gordo about this movie and it looks mcuh better than the first one.
-
Even Shocktilyoudrop (gay name by the way) was late with the news, the news broke on IESB back on April 3rd. Sorry, this is old news for sure.
-
doug was in new zealand a couple weeks ago and was very happy to state he would voicing abe sapien this time round as well as playing another character, the angel of death i think...
-
This is at least 2 weeks old.
-
low expectations but I was wowed. This is going to be great. I always loved Hellboy as a character but I am a bit bummed that the Lobster Guy won't be in this .... what was his name? Lobster Johnson or something? Anyway - can't wait. But yeah, I read this about maybe a week ago or so .... possibly Dark H or maybe CHUD. Anyway - no problem. Fun movie anyway - I ain't gonna throw no stones at'cha!
-
And with everyone coming back, I'm sure I'll enjoy the second one. I've never read the comic, so is it comparable or did the first movie take too many liberties?
-
I read this forty-nine years ago when Del Toro was still swimming around in his daddy's ballsack.
I am so well informed..... -
just thought you'd like to know
-
Pity he won't be back - he's dating my mate's sister & is apparently a really decent bloke.
And he was good in the first film -
i loved the first one. hope this one turns out well.
-
Bros, gawd that takes me back. hellboy. let's hop we dont have to wait months for the release in the uk eh?, quite along time for this sequel. what was the hold up?
-
That will be rather distracting.
-
And its official - DHP is still voicing Abe. Check the link.
-
First one was junk, in particular the completely anti-climactic denouement.
Had potential, squandered it. Hope they do better with number 2. -
Does it REALLY make that much of a difference when the news was announced?
The guys on this site do a great job.
But dear God I am sick of listening to a bunch of Dungeon & Dragon playing BABYLON 5 t-shirt wearin' living in their mommie's basments little bee-yatches do NOTHING but piss and moan and whine at every little thing they can.
Wonder why comic book/horror/sci fi fans get such a bad reputation for being no life virgins?

Dude, that's a big no-no. These geeks will tear you a new asshole for saying something like that.
-
"There was a Hellboy 1?"
-
Despite, the fact that I liked spiderman 2 . Hellboy Rocked my socks.
-
Spidey 2. Ron Perlman joins the group of actors who fit their superhero roles perfectly.
-
It wasn't really worth the price of admission with it's cheesiness.
-
Was better than Elektra and Ghost Rider that's for sure. The BPRD not being your typical superheroes investigating paranormal occurences. My kind of movie. I agree with emeraldboy. Ron Perlman was/is perfect as Hellboy. Just like Toby Maguire nailed it as Spiderman and Chris Evans as the Human Torch. This flick will be out in 2008? Damn, can't wait..
-
Both of which had their boring segments, especially Pan's. Mimic and Blade 2 kicked ass. Devil's Backbone was decent.
-
I wonder if this has anything to do with a certain silver-armed King of the Faerie folk in Irish myth? And when I say faeries, I'm not talking about the little winged Victorian tinkerbells, but the kick ass warriors who loved their battles, their magic and their sex.
-
The evil in this movie will be Pee-Man!Sorry, y'all know someone was going top post this!I liked the first movie, can't wait for the second one!
-
...typos... Frak! Serves me right for posting HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN SHOWERS!
-
like PAN's LABYRINTH, with a sequel to a weak, forgettable comic book adaptation.
-
Didn't enjoy the 1st one as much as I thought I would as there was a lot of set up for normal people and Hellboy came across as a bit immature which was not the impression of him I got in printed form, however I watched Sword Of Storms the other night and I enjoyed it,that was more like it.I'm watching Blood and Iron this weekend.I'll watch Hellboy 2,hope it's good.
-
that impressed with the first film, with the exception of Hellboy himself. Of particular disappointment was the handling of the supernatural element - it needs to get the atmosphere of the comic books right first and foremost. It was not nearly strong enough emphasis, it was just bad costumes and cheezy characters.
-
stale superhero plot formula! Don't put some cheezy female ass-kicking elf love interest or some smart-ass sidekick. Get into the mythology if you are going to play around with that stuff.
-
The only way to do it real justice.
-
Ooh, Rasputin, a clockwork Nazi, John Hurt, giant squid, Satanic rites, a glove that shoots zappy power; a stargate; uh, hold on, what's going on; the clockwork Nazi just fell down a hole, John Hurt is dead and there's a stinky 'who am I and why do I love girls' story clogging up Ron Perlman's juices. Spazzy and boring. Pan's Labyrinth owned this nonsense.
-
This is old news but Luke Goss is a good choice. He played a formidable villain in Blade II and I'm sure Guillermo will be able to make good use of him again. I felt Rasputin was a rather weak villain, a feature which hurt the first film. Hopefully, the next chapter will correct that flaw.

Well, i would like to say, that he was the Endboss of this Movie, as he made the hardest Fight for Blade, because Blade had to kill him for regaining the normal Blade-Main-Situation.
As far as it goes for Hellboy2: Great, i just Recorded Hellboy via DVB-T on DVD a few days ago, and i'll be looking forward for this one. Right after I've seen Transformers, i'll be mostly looking forward to this. I hope he won't be hurting the noobie from the first part in his jealousy again.
