PICKET FENCES!! BABYLON 5!! HAWAII FIVE-0!! STARGATE 1!! Palin!! Sharks!! HercVault!!

Published at:  May 02, 2007 9:38:08 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

I haven’t seen Michael Palin’s 1989 documentary miniseries Around The World In 80 Days since it premiered here in the states, but I still remember watching and loving every one of its seven hour episodes. The conceit is Palin endeavors to circumnavigate the globe, a la Jules Verne’s Phineas Fogg, without the use of aircraft. It was Palin's first go at this sort of thing; viewers enjoyed it so much Palin made four or five others dealing with various corners of the globe. Fellow surviving Pythons Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones both cameo, and the set comes with a (new?) Palin interview.

Mila Kunis fans may care to note that the first five seasons of “That ‘70s Show” are all - at least momentarily - 50% off.

Jason King, remembered for his hit song "Rape!"

    by 2for2true

Perhaps the most tasteless song ever written, this lp now sells for around $500.00, largely due to this love song:

    Rape
Rape - rape - rape, rape, rape!
    Rape - rape, rape, rape!
It's utterly amazing how many different kinds of rape there are!

    There's Italian Rape
Uno, due, tres, quatro, cinque, quante Lira.
Look into my eye-a-balls, you will see the fire!
How much Lira have you got-a ? Only a quarter?
Oh Madonna, you didn't oughta - for that I'll have your daughter !

    Japanese Rape, of course!
American Rape is full of hate and we're told, practically every minute of the hour.
And the way we're going we'll never be late,
Except for that date, with impatient Black Power!
Beginnings of Chinese Rape - endless!

One does need time, as any Englishman will explain,
If only to apologise for the agonising convenience caused
    To Mother Nature's forbidden walls!
In France of course, where fun is greedy,
The women are a little more seedy.
And rape is hardly ever necessary.
So even if the Franc is down, la plume de ma tante is always up and around!

In Germany it isn't always remembered,
What with Liszt, Wagner and Tannhauser,
The rape is synonymous with whips, bunkers and Mauser.
Which makes it all comparatively kinky -
With gas thrown in to get rid of the stinky!

In Russia it's far too cold for anything so bold!
And being notoriously political (if a trifle hypocritical)
    Rape becomes piratical,
    And Czechoslovakia far more suitable!
Which makes the whole thing rather nasty, tasteless and hasty.
But as Jason King would say, it depends so much on what you fancy!

...in the 1980 Flash Gordon movie? I always wondered what else he acted in. Is the Jason King series any good?

    $230? I'll take 10 of them!

    by evil lincoln

You know, for some strange reason I never watched Twin Peaks when it came out in the 90's and I've regretted it ever since. I wish this clowns would re-release the first season so I can see what all of the excitement for the series is all about.

    Six Million Dollar Man

    by evil lincoln

I remember back in the 80's when my family went to Universal Studios the tour trams would go through a spinning tunnel a la that episode. It was kind of cool at the time since I was a huge fan of the show. I don't get it why shows like Punky Brewster are on DVD and shows like this are not.

    by zekmoe

is all that most TV on DVD is worth. It's not remastered, re-effected, re-recorded 99% of the time. It's just copied by a couple of utility technicians. They've already made their money 10x over. This is just gravy. I'll never pay much more than $20 a season. Sorry...

    Picket Fences? HELL YEAH!

    by zeke25:17

Man, June is gonna be a great month: Rescue Me 3 on Blu-Ray, Deadwood 3; and finally Picket Fences, another one of those marvelous David Kelley creations that approaches sheer genius and/or brilliance before crapping out in the fourth or fifth season. Hope they bring out Boston Public pretty soon...and on a totally different subject, where the hell is CHINA BEACH, one of the best damn shows ever PUT on television? Do we really need Will and Fucking Grace, and these bazillion other monkeymass shows, flooding the market in place of honest-to-god marvelous writing, acting, direction, etc?

Jason King -> Jason Wyngarde -> Mr. Six?

    by hst666

The first thing I thought when I saw that box cover was the character of Mr. Six in Grant Morrison's The Invisibles. However, noting the actor's name of Peter Wyngarde, I note he looks sort of like how Jason Wyngarde (aka Mastermind) would portray himself in Claremont's X-Men in the 70s and 80s.
