Check it out! First production photo of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in IRON MAN!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love this picture. In fact, I've loved everything I've seen out of this production so far. USA Today got the first official still of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Check it out!!!

I love the device in his chest, keeping his heart pumping... I was wondering how they were going to handle this... I'm a little rusty (heh) on my IRON MAN... I think he has been able to live without his suit for a while, some sort of operation that dug out that piece of shrapnel next to his heart, but in the classic comics I always loved that the IRON MAN armor wasn't just something badass and cool to kick evil's ass with, but it was also what was keeping Stark alive. Even when he was out of the costume in the old books, he still had to wear the chest piece... Which can work on the page, but how the hell would they make that work in real life?
I like the solution. Don't know about you, but I'm getting very excited for this flick.

This movie just feels so right.
-
I can't wait!
-
Nice pic
-
Has he thoughts within his head?
-
The Dark Knight more though I have to say.

I was just looking at this in Empire this morning
by franklin t marmoset
It looks good. I don't understand how the device works (does he have to cut holes in all his vests so it can poke out like that? Or is it built into the vest itself?) but it looks cool and all. I have high hopes for this one, vest-related issues aside.
-
that looks like Tony Stark/Iron Man to me! I must say they seem to be handling what they show to the public the correct way, building interest. I am getting pretty damn psyched for this movie. I guess the only negative from fans has been the casting of Gwyneth...
-
He's Tony Stark. I am a believer now.
-
finally, the twitchy, semi-unhinged superhero who is just... this... close to breaking into merry hysterics at any given moment, that we have all been clamoring for
-
They said, that the Armor will shoot missles on the Site, AICN linked too.
doesn't he have his Laser-Weapons? -
... right on the money for choosing Downey for this role. I'm happy to see the movie went to him and not a Burton or Singer or another two time prick who does not respect the character and demolishes everything that has been established that made the hero.I think Favreau will respect the major aspects of Strak/Iron Man and just make it reflect these times. The chest thingy proves that he kept the essential reason why Stark became Iron Man and now we'll just have to wait and see for the rest of the movie.Me like too.
-
then again, who isnt taller then tom cruise.
-
no really. its not in the center of his chest.
-
the device is holding the shrapnel in place to keep it from killing him, except in the comics it was part of the armor, like a vest he wore. but seriously, have you ever seen a production still of a man doing nothing that is SO fucking fascinating?
-
but he's looking good.
-
They couldn't have it off-centered cause that would look just plain silly. I wouldn't really worry too much about that.
-
Yikes. tried to post on this thread and it went to another one. Just had to say this photo is awesome! Downey has been working out and it shows! Bravo Favreau!!!
-
the best origin movie since BatmanBegins, might even outdo it, i am crazy for this movie, altho the Dark Knight is still at the top of my must see list.
-
Oh, because it looks cool. That's right. Does he have to change the bulbs or is LED?
-
since Favreau decided to do this. Everything that has come out has looked top-notch and felt 'right'. It's pretty freak'n cool that we now have TWO superhero movies to look forward to next year.
-
Those who said Downey was wrong for the role will shut up pretty quick. Kinda like those people who said Craig was not Bond.
-
it's just the device that keeps his injured heart alive. Eventually that device is removed, along with the shrapnel, and his original heart is as good as new. I could be wrong, but I don't think he gets a new heart. Perhaps. Maybe.
-
That photo continues my belief that they're going to do a fantastic job with this. I can't wait to see it.
-
It wasn't long in the comics before Stark got rid of the shrapnel. Every few years Marvel will bring back the heart issue for drama, but for the most part it's not an issue. It's hard to keep your identity secret when you have a big metal vest under your shirt. Also hard to have Stark be a big playboy and get laid all the time with the vest on. (He's a dog in Marvel comics, he just bagged She-Hulk in her book).
-
All the elements in this flick make it a must fucking see.
-
It's because he's lighthearted.
I'll get my coat. -
did he have to wear the armor?
-
...on any type of film project, such as this one, that might polarize opinions. In the past he'd be wading in shooting his mouth off (TPM reviews, Armageddon, etc.) but now he is getting involved in film production he stays quiet. Hmmmm!
-
They really know what they're doing on this film, I'm loving everything I see. It's a pity they didn't hire someone like Favreau for Transformers instead of that hack Bay.
-
He looks kinda ripped! I really dig it. Damn it, they really need to put out a book about how these stars get so buff in such a seemingly short time. I know I'm probably unawares of just how long they pump, and I know that I have to work all day when their full time job might be lifting weights for a part, but still... and I still resemble Downey a great deal. They can still call me for stunts and doubling. It's not too late.
-
...her thigh muscles and snapped his iron cock right off (unless he'd parked it in her garage, in which case a contraction of her she-sphincter would have been enough). Hey, any reason why the heart device is mounted outside his shirt? Am I missing something? Why bother detaching the thing to change clothes? I am jealous of Downey's career.
-
That is all.
-
And I'm not the biggest Iron Man fan, but I have to say, they seem to be doing everything right on this one. I am cautiously optimistic.
-
But this has me interested. I really like the look this image portrays and as long as they don't go ridiculous I'll plan to see it in the theater.
...something I don't plan to do for FF2. I'm Bit Torrenting that bitch. -
Pic is cool, but does anyone else think Downey's goatee makes him look alot like John Favurau?
-
I like what McBane said up there. People said Craig would not be a great Bond and he proved them wrong. Same for Downey! he will be a kick ass Iron Man and the unbelievers will have to love it!!
-
Not that i know the iron man story but i do know what to aim at it i was going to shoot him. The heart lies in the centre of the chest, seams people still think its up in the left side of there chest saying hi to there shoulder.
Place your hand on the centre of your chest at the bottom of the sternam, hey presto one heart beat.
So do we know who the bad guy is ? -
but this pic may make a believer out of me.
-
Now that's kickass!
-
"In A Prelude to a horrible freebasing accident, Tony Stark plays with fire..."
...All too easy. *Force activates Carbon-Freeze.* -
I agree Favs is the man for the job....He's gonna show us what a REAL superman is....pay attention Singer you c@ck gobbler
-
"Hot stuff! Comin' through! Oh! There's a spark in your hair! Get It! Get It!" "You're all sick! All of you!" "Oh, Be Nice!"
-
Great timing on Marvel's 'newest' film property - spend the last year making him the biggest douche in the company and THEN introduce him to the general population
-
and we play hard!"
Everybody dance now!!
-
Uhhh..maybe you should blame the Iron Man comic for this scene, not Hollywood.
-
Oh so awesome...
-
Downey looks the part, and I don't think the irony of an addict playing an addict is lost on anyone. I respect that they're starting with the grey Iron Man suit, but hope they move up to red/yellow. There was a great plotline in Guardians of the Galaxy about a race known as The Stark. In the future as Earth was being overrun Tony jettisoned his technology into space so it wouldn't fall into wrong hands. The genius didn't think that maybe the people who found it wouldn't be the right hands either, and of course it did. Picture not one, but a whole race of Iron Man known throughout the Galaxy as The Stark.
-
since, ya know, that's what he does. Tinkers all the time in his workshop coming up with Iron Man suits and whatnot.
-
i cant wait to see this from the looks of this pic and the one with the armor so far so good it takes me back to the late 80s and 90s watching robocop on the big screen loved that as a kid
-
A man doing nothing?? Not quite! Tony Stark is working intensely in this pic -- he's gripped the face shield in tongs, and there's what appears to be an anvil with a sledgehammer atop it, viewed in front of his right arm. Tony Stark's determined to defeat the bad guys here!
-
He wears a shirt with a hole so you can see the heart thing? Why does it look like a glowing daisy?
-
even Rocky had montage.
-
I love downey...god I love that fuc*er but I just dont see tony stark.Plus downeys like cage from ghost rider he's really starting to look old.Im gonna give this a chance but I just dont see it,I hope im wrong.
-
Now you got that song in my head, damnit.
-
Rather, I think the lights are supposed to be so bright that they are shining THROUGH his wife beater. Anyone else getting that vibe?
-
Never been into Iron Man, but honestly, this is currently what's keeping me from committing suicide over transformers. It looks awesome.
-
I honestly couldn't have given two shits about an Iron Man movie awhile ago, even when Favs got attached, but the casting of RDJ, The Dude, and ther other parts, as well as all the images I have seen so far, have me pumped to see the film. Can't wait. Still pissed that Stark won the Civil War and got me killed, though. Bummer.
-
You too can BEDAZZLE anything! A wife-beater, a baseball cap, your homemade iron exo-skeleton...
Seriously, though...I'd be a little less concerned if it didn't look like they just pulled some chick's shirt off the rack at Target and made Robert put it on. I'd expect a little more from the costumer of Blade:Trinity...except that she's also the one who made Dracula look like euro trash... -
http://www.myspace.com/sonicwarriors
-
My guess is what we are seeing is the lights are glowing through the fabric. I don't think there is a hole cut out of it.
-
... But does he have to go through all his closets and dresser drawers, cut 3-inch holes in the front of every flippin' shirt he owns?
-
Just kidding, can't wait to see this...
-
... Who's gonna be the villain? Heard it was gonna be Obadiah Stane, but he was always a mastermind/evil businessman/sit-back-and-let-henchmen-do-all-the-heavy-lifting/Lex Luthor sort of dude, so I assume there'll be a super-powered henchman to contend with too. As long as it's not "Absorbing Dad" or (ahem) a cloud I'll be there on opening night!
-
how they're going to update the origin. I mean wasn't Stark captured by the Vietnamese, or was it Koreans. I guess nowadays you could make it the North Koreans. I want Titanium Man in the sequel with Don Frye as our Russian friend. Hey, doesn't he look like Roscoe from "The Anvil"
-

New Iron Man Underoos!!!!!!!!!!

..I'm sure I read about that a few yonks ago. Ray Parks or Park is his name.

Wouldn't push buttons be more convenient?

Were you able to get to the AICN screening on thrusday?
-
But will they be grey, or will they be yellow and red. I've already got the grey set.
-
pretty much great in anything(see Johnny Be Good) Pizza for Hitler!
-
At least that's what was revealed in Favreau's interview in the Wizard Mega Movie Issue/Special....I personally like all the casting save for Paltrow. Here's hoping she proves she is a great Potts. Downey is so money. Perfect casting for me, but I am barely an Iron Man fan. Hope this movie rocks and shows some Hollywood trash how to respect a property whilst taking liberties. Modest liberties. This does not look anything like Iron Man In Name Only. This looks spot fucking on right now and Favreau's interview sure makes me maintain that sentiment. Hurry up May 2008!
-
...let it shine where-ever you go, let it make a happy glow for all the world to see! Turn on your heart light, in the middle of Tony Stark's wet dream...don't wake him up too soon...gonna shoot a load of iron spooge, in the sheets.
Or if you go with the Kenny Loggins "Heartlight" instead of Neil Diamond, you get: "Whoah-oh, heartlight! Whoah-oh, heartlight! Oh welcome to heartlight!" (That's from the 'High Adventure' album, people, c'mon! Give the music some -
in order to maintain some semblance of psuedo-realism. Hats off already for Fav. Hope it's tight and not ridiculous.
-
That's a photo of me at work. Not sure where the hell they got it. And that mask is my torture porn alter-ego.
-
I am an Iron Man fan. Since I was 6 or 7. I own the books, action figures, posters, the work. About 18 different version of the Iron Man movie have played in my head. And, the more I see of this version, the more it's aligning with what's in my fandom addled brainIron Man has always been thematically deeper and more complex than other comics, Favreau doesn't seem to be shying away from that. It's also been much more tech-heavy than other comics, Favreau seems to be embracing that too.I never thought I'd ever see an Iron Man movie, because I just didn't think enough people cared. But now, not only am I seeing an Iron Man movie, I'm seeing the one very close to the one my brain created many years ago.In short, this kicks ass (although, I'm still not completely crazy about Downey. Maybe because my heart was completely set on Clive Owen)
-
Isn't that the Chinese Ringo Starr wanna be with all the various power rings? Not sure how that's gonna work out...
-
Awesome!@
-
I guess he has gone through several "changes" over the years. I think his son? is the current Mandarin???I still remain optimistic and hope they "update" him with respect. Time will tell. Fav didn't reveal much at all about Mandarin in his interview.....
-
Wasn't always a fan of hers (not really at all) until I saw her dancing around on American Idol the other night showing off her flat as hell stomach and heart shaped ass. Anyways thank you Favs this will be a must see in 08 .
-
I believe he's being played by Shaun Toub. And it looks like Leslie Bibb has been cast as well. And while I'm a big fan of RDJr., I'm totally ambivalent about this movie.
-
She's in her Underworld garb, and believe you me, she's MOST definitely into the torture porn. She's bringing the jelly.
-
you'd be singing a different tune!
-
very cool
-
this will not come soon enough
-
I'm here all week - try the veal. THIS LOOKS AWESOME. Downey = perfect choice.
-
He's a bit of a mixed bag. But I have to admit that looks pretty damned good.
-
Ray Park was going to be Iron FIST, a martial artist superhero.
-
Since finding out about this movie, I've actually gone back and read some Iron Man comics. Never really got into him as a kid, it was always like "let's just come up with some new gizmo and beat the badguys". Always felt like cheating. (Was anyone ELSE disgusted by Iron Man counteracting Peter's Spider-Sense?) But Downey can be vulnerable and I think that's the key to Iron Man. I mean this is the ONE hero that can be a wimp. He's got ARMOR for that!
-
Fake!
-
It's still fairly early and I don't like to judge at this point in the game, but so far everything points to a solid flic with this one. Can't wait to see some moving footage.
-
He should combine his "Bright Lights/Big City" Character with this one...or better yet, break into someone's house and get into bed while wearing the armor.
-
He's a... well, you know.
-
and pound nipples into generation one of the iron man suit.
-
I hope it works, it looks cool and I dig Favreau
-
cause i've got an iron man in my pants now.
-
Downey is getting a bit over the hill to carry an superhero franchise. He might be fine to play the role now, but I don't know about sequels. That being said, Harrison Ford has made a career out of playing middle-aged action heroes, not to mention Arnie. Downey being the genius he is, I'm sure he can pull off a superhero, but I'm just not sure I want to see him in anything other than offbeat movies/roles. Still, I'm sure he's a far more inspired choice than some alternatives, so I should quit my bitching.
-
if you dig IM, like I do, check out the Iron Man cartoon from MArvel.
It's a million times better than the Ultimate Avengers. Trust me. Awesome animation and the still is like from the cartoon movie. -
YOUR HEART IS IN THE CENTER OF YOUR CHESTS IDIOTS.
Hasn't anyone taken a anatomy course? -
it's a piece that keeps a shrapnel away from his heart... Not an actual heart, so they can basically put it anywhere... and you writting IN BIG FREAKING LETTERS makes me angry, and you would'nt like me when I'm ang.. oh look.. a kitty cat...
-
and Falcon5768 is right. However, the heart technically is offset from the center by a little to the left.
-
where Tony wears his heart on his sleeve and confesses his love for Ms. Potts! (rim shot)
-
Call him Substance Abuse Bear. Actually, it looks pretty cool, and is a good realization of the comic, IMO.
-
I'm surprised he's only been mentioned twice in this TB. Shia Labouf is the reason for our existence. Kneel before Shia!
-
The ledgend continues
-
I'm fine with her being in this movie, but does anyone know what extent Pepper Potts plays in this?
Does she have a lot of screen time? I just don't see Paltrow being a factor in ruining the movies overall experience.
I think Downey will do great. -
Katie didn't ruin BB, I see no reason why Paltrow will either, taking into consideration everything we have seen so far...(crossing fingers)
-
though I guess some lesbian action with paltrow & holmes wouldn't be anything to frown about...
-
but Downey is a god, and it looks like Favreau, like Nolan, actually has respect for his source material. I will definitely be there...even if it doesn't have Eva Mendes' boobies...which rock, yo...

I don't know man. Neither of those two skinny minnies ever did much for me, although I agree we'll keep them hos in the stable.
-
Judy Dench's moustache in "Casino Royale" gave me an amazingly turgid erect-shan.
-
that was def. one of those pause+rewind moments
-

-
in how the anvil is positioned directly in front of what is surely his girder-hard iron package. Don't tell me that wasn't planned. The heartlight probably flickers on-and-off like a party light when he conjugates
-
since no one answered your question, this picture is supposed to be in Afghanistan. That's this story's Vietnam. I don't know why I love this pic so much - maybe it's the intensity. Or Downey's look. Funny, I've seen him look muscular before, but usually he looks kinda pasty, but he looks just perfect in this. Lighting and makeup really do make a difference. I was never a huge Iron Man fan either - it's actually only been since Disassembled into Civil War that I ever paid attention to the character. But for some reason, I'm looking forward to this flick more than any other comic adaptation. I think it's the care and the detail being put into it and it seems to not be making the mistakes that you usually see in pre-production with these movies. I hope we won't be disappointed.

Is Kirsten Dunst in this? You know why I am concerned.
And Downey looks great in that shot. Not too familiar with Iron Man. Time to check the wiki. -

It resides within us all!!!!!! and in Rosie O'Donnel's anal glands

No buddy. I wasn't able to make yesterday's AICN screening in NY. I had a meeting I just couldn't get out of. You make it?
-
If the creators of a comic movie respect the original medium (the comic) the movie can become a film. ("Batman Begins" showed that respect/"Catwoman" did not). There's respect from Fav in this pic alone, so I'm hopeful. As long as Iron Man sports no flames and we don't see his lips, and as long as War Machine doesn't show up as a big gray cloud, I'm cool.
-
Again, we haven't seen anything so far that would dissuade us from thinking this will be a damn fine movie. What I can't wait for is to actually see Iron Man in action.
-
With these two movies coming out next year will make for one hell of a summer
-
is the dog cropped out?
-
I like how an alcoholic like Robert Downey Jr. is playing an alcoholic like Tony Stark. Awesome casting.
-
Sorry, but it's just true, there is nothing imposing about him.
-
And I like the tekkie pacemaker.

-
What a thrilling time for movies. CGI has made anything possible, and it's just amazing to see all the comic book heroes I grew up with coming alive on the big screen in big ways, though I'm not pleased with how most of them turn out. Raimi and Nolan are the only directors who have demonstrated some true reverence for their material. Spider-Man 1 & 2 and Batman Begins are great films that show both the motivations and capabilities of their heroes. I think Bryan Singer failed in that regard with Superman. In Iron Man, I see an opportunity to pull together a high action, character driven film that could rival anything yet released in this genre. It's amazing this character is getting a movie; even more amazing that Downey Jr. is cast as Stark (who'd imagine he'd take on a superhero role at all). I don't know what Favreau has planned beyond the origin formula, but I hope we see him pull off some well-choreographed big action. I expect to see Iron Man flying at high speed over long distances and causing some big damage. My guess is we'll see the grey armor evolve into red and gold by the end of the movie - the logo from the website indicates this will be the case. From what I've seen, I'm psyched. Seems Favreau's at least done adequate research. No doubt Downey Jr. will be great. I think he'll make this film fly if all else is in place. Mandarin is the right choice for the lead off villain. Can't wait for '08. Course '07 looking good too. Let's pray that if Galactus is introduced as a cloud, he does not remain a cloud.
-
so together and the picture of perfection, meanwhile he was very good at hiding his very real weaknesses. I must say RDJ kind of takes away from the strength of that image a bit because he looks like a weasel, which is kind of what he is known for playing.
-
Usually one little picture from a movie that is still a year away would not even get my own heart fluttering. This one is different. I find myself getting pumped up about this movie. Looking good.
-
(snort!) I'm still waiting to see the red and gold armor.
-
I understand how proprietary you are over your comic book characters, but I don't get that image at all. I wouldn't say Downey looks imposing necessarily, but "a weasel"? To each their own, I guess.
-
per Fav's interview. He was mum if we would see more than two armors/suits. I think the two are just fine. Save upgrades and War Machine for the sequels.Superninja, I get what you are saying about RDJr., however I think he is a fine choice. We'll have to wait and see. However, dream actor-style, who would you have cast? Living or dead. Just curious as I always value and enjoy your opinions...
-
Not bad. I wasn't sure how Downey would look as Stark. At least he doesn't have a vagina face or flames on his chest.
-
Is the light thing in his chest and shines through the wife beater or does the wife beater have super powers? I bet kick rock is pissed... first Pamela now Iron Man....
-
I like Robert Downey but he looks pretty weird and malnourished here. Looks more like a John Holmes than the Robert Downey Jr. we all know so well.
-
Thats it I am not going to see it.
-
That would've been awesome.
-
he knows when he has to change batteries or something. man, this robot man movies is gonna kick all kinds of ASS!!
-
...it's that having the most mind-blowingly amazing and perfect pre-release production stills is no guarantee of movie quality. (God, I can still remember how jaw-droppingly perfect Neeson, McGregor, and Maul looked in those early shots.) That said, though, the shots we've seen so far from this flick look inspiringly dead-on. In some ways I don't think it's all that hard for this to be a really good movie--give us some good armor and some good rip-roaring action, just enough angst but not too much. Don't try to be too clever, don't waste too much time on origin stuff, give us meat & potatoes superhero fun and some characters we root for. Got a good feeling about this so far.
-
I respect Downey Jr as an actor and empathize with his struggles.
-
I'd be more excited if the villain was more interesting. I never gave a crap about the Mandarin and his magic rings. Although with Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane, at least we have the prospect of a monster sequel featuring Iron Man vs. Ironmonger!
-
Interesting what's become available to us.
-
playing "complex characters", which is just a fancy way of saying weasels. If I could cast anyone, it would be Hugh Jackman, of course. But naturally, he can't be every superhero character. Eric Bana probably would've been exceptional. He is more geared toward that heroic archtype of character than Banner (see his Hector in Troy).
-
source material, so that is a big plus.
-
Superman.
-
Director who cares about the character?...check...Great actor to portray main character?...check...Original bulky armor origin?...check...trademark Tony stark Goat-tee and ass kickingly cool glowing heart device?...check!!
This is looking like it's gonna be good folks. I can't believe Downey looks so damn buff..whenever I see images of him,he always looks burned out, at the end of his rope, but this one image completely shatters that!! Whoo HOO!!!! -
I still say I buy RDJ as Tony Stark. Looks good. Just... well... I don't understand why he has an old-fashioned rotary dial phone installed in his chest. Why not just get a cellphone like everyone else?
-
Kevin Feige and Avi Arad were not bullshitting at Comic-Con when they said Marvel Films was going to go all out with first class productions. RDJ building the Gray Armor with rotary pacemaker on his chest- fricking coool! I like Gwyneth but still wish it was Kristina Hendricks as Pepper. Ed Norton signing on for Incredible Hulk is the icing on the cake- due out in '08 or '09? Marvel is scoring big, even mediocre-but fun films-Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider are hits. DC may have Christian Bale and Brandon Routh but that's it, Wonderwoman is in limbo and so is the Flash; I seriously doubt JLA will ever be made-at least not in the way it deserves. DC is treated as the proverbial redheaded stepchild at Warner Bros. I'm betting on Ironman and Hulk to score big so Marvel can have Frank Miller and Zach Snyder reboot Daredevil starring Edward Burns.
-
....but it will BOMB with no Kirsten Dunst...
-
...that contraption on his chest looks similar, i believe....and that movie kicks some butt too! cant wait! does Next suck?
-
Nah. Lovin' it!

But this looks great so far. Staying faithful to the comic is the key it seems

Even when I was a huge comic book geek I never found Tony Stark or Iron Man interesting. But everything I've seen about this film is doing what decades of comics couldn't... getting me interested.
-
And Tony Stark as a crack addict complete w/wife beater tanktop? Very interested in the direction this film is going!

RDJ is a great choice for Stark, but choosing any actor
by orbots commander
living or dead? Easy---Cary Grant as Tony Stark.

I'll be surprised if it's awesome, but hey there's always a chance. Better to expect something bad and be open to a pleasant surprise than to be let down by raised expectations.
-
Does anyone know where that can be found? I'd love to read it. It sounds like a perfect adaptation, I hope they go with that concept. Like 300 but set in WWII!
-
But this should be easy - it's The Great Gatsby with a robot suit.
-
Green Lantern Corps. movie. Just call it Green Lantern, but make it about the whole Corps. but through the eyes of the new recruit, Hal Jordan.
-
I'd guess it goes through his shirt like that because it has to plug into something to recharge.
-
Lead Man. He's like super soft and bendy and shit. And poisonous (when you lick him). And Superman can't use his x-ray crap on him! Awesome!
-
I'm not going to get ahead of myself and say thr film is going to be awesome based on one pic, but Jr looks good as Stark. It has my interest.
-
i hope this is as awesome as it sounds
-
Winston gotta eat ! Nah seriously, im looking forward to iron man . Jon Favreau can direct actors AND do sci fi stuff which is ideal for old shell heads movie debut. Also, i hope theme from the 1960's iron man cartoon plays during the end credits. You know, for nostalgia sake.....

Ya got to believe me! Cause smokin and trippin is all that I do....yeeeaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!

back into Marvel Pictures? It would seem rather unlikely considering that Iron Man is hardly a top-selling name. Its no secret that Marvels biggest hits so far are Spidey and Xmen, and both movies performed, but with both titles possibly winding down, its no shock that Marvel is trying to keep butts in the seats with their less known characters. I think trying again with the Hulk is a huge risk. I personally liked the Ang Lee one when i first saw it, and even now the filmaking and acting and action are all pretty well done, the big let down being the over-dramatic story. The problem I see with the second-tier characters is that they are giving all these characters to second-rate directors, and that does not bode well for the future of Marvel comics. For me I just cannot get over what I feel are unforgivable changes or additions to these films, one major one being the casting of Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman. It still bugs me and im not even a FF fan! As soon as I heard that I was totally turned off to that movie, and except for the vague trailer that Ill admit peaks my interest (though I am still waiting to see more positive reviews before I buy a ticket) the moment I heard she saw cast I lost all faith in the producers and director, and the fact that Tim Story is STILL in the chair really worries me. It was obvious from that movie that he is not a good director and i dont see how that could have changed. But now I am hearing three things that show me that maybe Marvel is getting their act together after all, 1:The casting of RDJ, this great little pic, and Favreaus comments so far have shown me that maybe Iron Man will be the movie to really keep Marvel on the map, now that Spideys furure is questionable. It doesnt seem like hardly anyone has bad things to say about this pic and its direction so far, and really the only questionable aspect is Favreau in the chair. I think Iron should be a character grounded more in reality and less in the Mandarin realm, but thats me, but really the question of whether this takes off or not lies in Favreaus ability as a filmaker. So far its looking good. 2:Norton as the Hulk. Ill admit this is odd casting, but I can see it happening and Nortons involvment at the very least is some insurance towards this movie being a success. Again the big "if" is the director. 2:Snyder and Miller doing Daredevil?!!???!!! If that is true..... OH MAN!!!! Daredevil with Snyders directing style I think is a match made in heaven. If this is true, we just might have something else to put up next to our Spidey, Bats, and Xmen DVDs on the shelf of honor! I for one liked DD in the theatre and even though it lost steam on DVD the extended version, I felt, fleshed it out a bit better. I think its at best a B- movie, not a classic, and not what it could be, but passable. If they can breath life back into DD I dont think anyone would complain. And Ed Burns as DD?! That could definately be great.

So much for them taking it seriously.

Believe it!

"Iron Man is hardly a top-selling name"
Are you serious? You do realize that Iron Man has been selling out for the past five years or so. Not to mention the sucess of the Avengers and the New Avengers which Iron Man is a founding member of both. Iron Man is a staple of the Marvel universe and has been for the past forty years. Iron Man has had two animated series and an amimated movie based on him. So to say that he is not "a top selling name" is rediculous. -
...they are going to screw up the IM armor! Seriously, am I the only one who sees this coming. There is absolutely NO WAY hollywood can resist putting wings or bazookas or something rediculously distracting on the suit, and we're all going to hate it. Also, I am anxious to see how they handle the traditional red and gold coloring...looks good in the comics, but on film I just don't know... (Then again the did pull off the red and blue Spidey outfit and got rid of the web-pits, so maybe there's still hope!)

im really wondering about the villians, the madarian to me just is kinda kooky
SMG as Harley Quinn?...god i miss her in Buffy
-
but if he sucks my dick for coke I'll reconsider.
-
and I think a good one. I actually have more faith in her than Ledger.
-
But since he's all man, I guess he isn't interested in you, DallasGoodbar.
-
Is that a built in ViewMaster on his chest?
-
Oh wow.... I get more and more excited about this film.
-
Quote "I like Robert Downey but he looks pretty weird and malnourished here."
He is a POW at this point isnt he? when he makes the first suit. Not supprising that he looks malnourished. -
Land of the Lost was particular great on the ViewMaster....So is Harley Quinn a complete wacko? I don't follow Batman cartoon/comics, so I'm not familiar with her. I looked it up and it said she fell in love with the joker, so I'm assuming she's missing a few screws.
-
Seven was a great movie, but what made it better was seeing Gwennies head in a box. She must have whined on and on endlessly when spacey's John Doe paid her a visit that he snapped and well we know what happened.
-
yup i said it
