Goofy Would Like To Help You Hook Up Your Home Theater!
Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
This sounds great. Thanks for posting the interview and letting us know about it, James. Great site.
Just a heads up that Animated Views has the details on Disney's new animated Goofy short "How To Hook Up Your Home Theater" - an interview with Andreas Deja and Mark Henn and a very cool 1950's retro movie poster! Thanks for your time.

I'm glad that Disney's traditional animation department won't be wasting all of its talent on direct-to-video sequels.
John Lasseter is the closest thing we have to Uncle Walt. I say they bring back Walt Disney Presents with Lasseter as the the host. -

the Joker, or something like that... OH WELL, already have one of those under my belt.

...animationwise. Pixar not withstanding. Even then, I really only liked The Incredibles. The Toy Story's were good, but not theatre worthy for me. I appreciate the animation of the earlier films, but never cared for them. I've always been a Warner Bros. fan. Especially the early years and WWII years. Even as a kid Disney always felt more "Look what I can do!" with their animation where as Looney Tunes were more Three Stooges meets Marx Brothers "We're gonna make you laugh!". A pie in the face while dropping off a cliff before the anvil drops on your head will always win out over a dancing mouse on a steamboat. I guess I prefer my cartoon animals cross-dressing or hitting Hitler over the head with an oversized mallet. "They lose more darn Nazis that way."

the Disney epics. I mean, Lion King? Aladdin? Dumbo? Fox and the Hound? List goes on. Plus there are plenty of Disney shorts that are... similar in hilarity even if they took the more "calm" and non-anvil route to comedy.
-
Yep...I can deny them. Heh. They just never 'captured' my imagination, even as a kid. Sure, technically amazing, but their stories never drew me in and most were either unfaithful retellings of the Grimm Fairy Tales (which devoured as a kid and were simply amazingly dark fables, so I understand lightening them up) or, in later years, nearly total rip-offs of Japanese animes not widely known in the West. I remember seeing Lion King and being too distracted by the fact it was a retelling of the Simba The White Lion series I used to watch religiously on channel 52 in Los Angeles during the 70s. And there is not one Disney short that ever made me laugh out loud. A smirk here and there, but never a gafaw, snicker or chortle. Dunno why...can't explain it. I appreciate Disney animation, but if they suddenly stopped or were unavailable to see...say, 'locked forever' in the Diney Vault...I wouldn't shed a tear. Speaking of the Disney Vault, I always loved this TV Funhouse short: http://tinyurl.com/n4p58

Between this and MEET THE ROBINSONS, he's really got Disney on the fast track back to greatness. I couldn't be more pleased. And the Goofy "How To" and sports shorts were always my favorites anyway. Love the retro posters. I'm just thrilled with all of this.

...not Simba. Just for clarity's sake.
"Who lives down in deepest darkest Africa? (Africa)
Who's the one who brought the jungle fame?
Who's the king of Animals in Africa?
Kimba the white lion is his name!" -
Seeing the Donald Duck short that played before 'Robinsons' made me do the dance of joy, so I can't wait to see some new shorts. Disney should make like 20 of these and run them all back to back as a single feature.

Where Warner had the over the top insanity and absurdity and parody of popular culture, the Disney usually had a theme of the plot snowballing into this giant, out of control boulder, and had a lot of Rube Goldberg situations which put the characters in dangerous situations that were seemingly inescapable.

I like the idea of doing more short films. It's like an added bonus when you go into a theater, something you weren't expecting. Maybe someone out there is going to create another Vincent.

The first couple of paragraphs read like an infomercial for Blu-ray.

"What timing, what genius, what an actor! No one takes a wallop like GOOFY!" Hopefully, the film they attach this to will not suck, otherwise I'll be doing a sneak.

with Tom & Jerry and Tex Avery I'm still looking 4ward to this Disney shit. Back in da day in the 90's It was MGM first, warner brothers second, and disney last. disney shorts were just too cute and boring. i'd always walk off, but now i'm older i wanna c them again.

Sony Blu-Ray technology.
Buy one. Really. We want you to. -
good programming and wasn't over-run by pre-teen sitcom nonsense. They would take great music (everything from classical to classic motown) and sync them with slips and snippets of great, old shorts. My favorite was "Uptight (Everything Is Alright)" set to a bunch of moments of Donald Duck freaking out and having temper tantrums...

Awful quality (and a non-PC caricature of a Japanese soldier), but a brilliant and funny Disney product from WWII. -
I always loved that song (BIG Dr. Demento fan as a kid), but always found it troubling that (yes, even as a kid) that Donald worked (against his will or not) FOR the Nazi's even in his dreams safely in bed whereas Daffy was a front line sorta duck. Ya, I know...sounds dumb, but just the type of weirdo I am. And I actually love the quality of the video. Makes ya appreciate more of where our video entertainment comes from. Yep, again sounding dumb. But there ya go. Makes it feel like history. I have no problem with non-PC images. I actually think we all need to recognise them for what they were. Propaganda that EVERYONE used. 'Winners' and 'Losers' used degrading images of their enemies to motivate their peoples. But I digress, the cartoon was still just there for me. I appreciate it as part of history, but it just doesn't grab me. I wish I could fully explain why Disney animation turns me off...but I just can't. Don't hate me because I'm a Warnericst...*sob* And a HA!
