Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I love me my HALO and I'm eagerly awaiting HALO 3. I know that the big 100,000 plus people Beta is going on soon, but here's a little treat.

It looks great to me. It's obviously a beta (hence the word beta on the screen) and most likely unfinished, but already it looks great. My favorite part... the sniper rifle doesn't jump all crazy like it does in Halo 2. It looks like they're going back to Halo 1 gameplay, which makes me so very happy in pants. I never got used to the new, weaker weapons in Halo 2. I hope the shotgun is stronger, too!

they didn't include the health boxes back from Halo1. I always loved that aspect, if you lost your shields, you might still have the armor blocks to help you out. Made the medic packs something to search for and the gameplay just a little more interesting. Ah well, everything else looks really cool. The ole' Zanzibar base is looking amazing. I love the giant generator, and the fact you can go inside Froman now. Awesome!

I enjoyed the first HALO. I found the 2nd one to be EXTREMELY dissapointing, and from what I've seen of this one so far I'm expecting to be dissapointed for the same reasons. It all looks like the same old shit. There doesn't seem to be ANYTHING new here. Am I wrong?

Overall halo 2 was a let down for me despite the crazy multiplayer action. Halo campaign was ace and what sold me on Halo2 was the way they talked up the campaign prelaunch. The gameplay in 2 was horribly linear compared to the first in which it felt like there were multiple ways to tackle each level. Now ever since its been - "oh yeah Halo2 was always about the multiplayer." Which is clearly americanese for "we dropped the ball. sorry."

I loved the first one it was the flagship game of a great console. The second one i got due to hype, and while i found the single player boring i also found the multiplayer pretty weak, reminded me of Dreamcasts quake or UT where all you had to do when an enemy spotted you was jump jump jump about like a fuckin loon and more often than not youd escape...shit. Give me COD 3 anyday.

Yeah, anybody who wants to play "next gen" games shouldn't be looking at an old gen piece of hardware like the 360 - the PC is where it's at! Has nobody seen Crysis? THAT is next gen. Sure Xbox is fun and all but this looked so...boring...in comparison to say a game of Battlefield 2 or 2142 where you have 64 guys running around on a massive map, planes and helicopters flying over head, tanks and vehicles driving around, dirt spraying up from bullets and squads actively co-ordinating themselves. Definitely more exciting. If you want to play online, play PC. If you want to play with your friends, play Xbox. ;)

Isn't this the same map from Halo 2??? If this is a fuckin' rehash of Halo and Halo 2, I'm never buying a Bungie title again. Graphics look "meh" at best. I am so not impressed. :(

Yup - It's crazy how ignorant all these Halo fanboys are of the much better stuff out there - don't get me wrong Halo is cool - it was one of the first video games I really got into - but really, for graphics and pure epic scale, you can't beat the PC. I mean now correct me if I'm wrong but what is Halo? 16 player max? Pftttt try 64 and then tell me how exciting Halo is. :P And the graphics for Crysis are just INSANE - well the graphics and the physics - every leaf you touch moves and almost everything is destructible, from the trees and bushes to buildings - sweet! :D

I don't know about anyone else, but after playing games like "Gears of War" and "Rainbow Six Vegas" I prefer shooters with a cover system. I think it adds a certain realism and strategy to the proceedings (as much as you can have in a game where you can chainsaw bug creatures in half). I think I'll like "Halo 3" for the story, but the "run and gun" shooters just don't do it for me as much anymore. Even "Call of Duty 3" is getting old.

Since you are quite plainly 'ignorant' of a great deal of things let me educate you in some details that PC fanboys like to ignore.CRYSIS looks nice because it uses DirectX 10. 360 uses a custom variant of DirectX, many of the libraries of the 360 version have been utilised in the PC version of DX10. So, effectively you are getting an upgrade to allow your system to play games with console technology. However, since there are no DirectX 10 games out yet you've got nothing to boast about yet; that explains why there are no PC games out yet that look as nice as Gears of War.Also, the next series of games for 360 are cross compatible with PC. The PC is infact getting its own version of live since the whole MS business model is to one day integrate both platforms. Quake Wars is supposedly going to be massive and cross platform and blows away BF2 and BF2142.Finally, i've already pointed out that theres no game on PC that looks as stunning as Gears of War. Not even STALKER, a game in development for 4 years, comes close.As someone with a very nice gaming PC, i'm loathe to admit that my computer rarely sees any action these days thanks to the lack of quality games AND the fact that most multi-player PC games are populated by total dicks.

And how come most of the AICN games stuff is mostly focused on Xbox 360 and Halo? Does Monki still not have a PS3 or Wii yet? I can understand not finding a Wii, but there's got to be PS3s lying around somewhere. And sure Halo, whatever, I'm not saying stop, but spread the love around! Just saying the constant news surrounding Halo only is suspicious. How about a page about the recent stuff on Silent Hill: 0rigins huh? That's a big franchise that I'm sure plenty of people here are interested in, particularly since the movie... so maybe we can set the record straight on story details... Or what about the fact that Mass Effect was delayed? Or even miniscule bits like Blu-Ray sales being the first to HD format to pass 1 million? But yeah, pages relating to other breaking news and media will be appreciated for AICN Games. That is all...

It's nice that the prettiness of it distracted you from the fact that the environment is nowhere as destructible as many other shooters like Half Life... I guess nice graphics come at a cost, and they claimed this game was pushing the 360 already? Gears is a good game, but aside from the models and lighting it makes me wonder if that's the limit of 360... but I'll wait to see Gears of War 2 and other improvements before I make that call.

It was fine when Darryl Hannah whistled it in Kill Bill, but I was sick of that techno shit after about 10 seconds. Word to the wise, put the player's audio on mute and put on your favorite track from George Strait. Even that would be better. As far as the Beta mp goes, it's okay. Finished copy will be sweeter though.

Weird...anyway. So far i'm not impressed by next gen Halo. Looks like a slightly prettier version of Halo2. Maybe I'm just too used to Gears of war graphics.

Gears of War kicks ass and here are the reasons why. Finally for the first time anyone like me. Who's not one of these hardcore online gamers. That lives to play FPS games. You know the ones that setup lan parties in their houses and eat nachos all night. Yeah, well I can finally be good at one of those games. Because GOW has easy pick up and play and I've been able to master it. I no longer feel like a clueless moving target. Also i've made lots of friends on gears. thanks to the clear voice chatting. I also enjoy spectator mode when I'm the last player left and everyone is watching me play. You get to showoff. If ya do good everyone pats on ya the back. that's a good feeling. I also enjoy the duck and cover system. Something Halo is sorely lacking. Honestly i'll never understand the appeal of halo. the characters are too floaty and the graphics are bland. But aw well. To each his own.

Not that it has anything to prove to you; 3 million copies sold and critical acclaim from everyone who has played it? Hmmmm wonder where popular opinion sits there then?Johnno, there's a reason why there's no PS3 coverage yet; it's because there's nothing worth showing on PS3. If there were some games on PS3 where the prettiness could distract me from the systems complete lack of interesting titles. Well, LittleBigWorld is only a year away from launch so I can rest easy knowing those groundbreaking, exclusive titles are coming at some point. Saying that, it's fairly quiet on 360 at the moment, the run up to Forza 2 should get a little bit more interesting but all the really good wont start getting the big coverage for afew months yet.The only Wii news i can think of is that McAffee have spotted some exploit in Wii's opera browser...that's about it.

I'm not saying something should be covered on the PS3 even when there's nothing, but there's other stuff out there. This week and just this morning there's been big hype over Silent Hill: Origins for PSP! If Monki is going to make a page about multiplayer Halo made by a beta tester with techno whistling on the user movie section of Gametrailers, then he can also link to the Gameinformer articles and IGN's 3 page story on Silent HIll 0rigins with the gameinformer trailers, the gameplay videos and IGN insider's 9 min preview which can also be downloaded from other places. I'm just saying that whenever I see some quick AICN games thing it's either Halo, fan made stuff about halo etc. And it's all good since Halo's a big game... but c'mon man c'mon.... or do handhelds not count? At least he's getting good articles like Spidey 3 etc. But if he's going to take the time to link us to videos like this then surely there's some other good stuff too aside from Halo.

It's Quints story, not Monki's and I'd say the page is up more because its leaked footage that shouldn't be out rather than a big scoop on Halo. Quint's a big Halo fan if you couldn't tell.This is kinda like the sneak peaks you get at movies but, this time, for a videogame. A very popular videogame at that.As for the cries of 'It looks the same'..well, thats kinda the point. But i find it incredible that people can make a serious judgement based on a tiny, poorly captured SD video feed. Running HD, i'm sure the game looks a million times better.Anchorite, i totally agree that Halo 1 was the better game, apparently they've gone back to their roots for this sequel. While they couldn't do much about the bitching once Halo 2 was out, i'm sure they took it on board and made some changes. At least, they'd better have done.

Everything you pointed out to me I already knew. With the exception of the DX10 thing. I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure Xbox 360 does not have anything like that. And besides, who gives a damn? Crysis looks WAY better than Gears of War and will be out in a few months. Plus the hardware required really isn't THAT much. Also, the PC is simply better than a console at FPS's. Racing games on console, sure but you cannot argue that Gears of War looks better than Crysis. No WAY. Look at the physics in that game how EVERYTHING you touch moves or is destructible. Not to mention just the lighting and everything - Gears is great looking - but it's not Crysis level. And really, what are you talking about with the PC having no great games? Battlefield, Crysis (soon), Half Life 2, and any number of other ones are all sweet! There's been nothing really to get excited over on the 360. Crysis is though. Oh and yes, Halo fanboys ARE ignorant - most of the media is as to the better stuff out there. To clarify, most appear unaware of games like Crysis. And when they do, the first thing they ask is "is this coming out for console?". And the answer is maybe, but if it does, the developers have said it will not be as good looking because the 360 isn't CAPABLE of handling that! Anyways I'm waisting my breath. The PC is where it's at for anything besides racing games. End of story.

But, (and this is the point i'm making), as it stands there are no games on PC, (out now), that look as nice as that title. You can argue all you like but that's a fact.There was a collective groan from PC gamers everywhere when Epic announced that GoW wasn't coming to PC; it was infact one of the most wanted PC titles going.Anyway, let's cut to the chase. Explain how a PC is better at FPS games? Don't mention control with keyboard and mouse since that's an issue that's being addressed. As it stands, Unreal 3 is optimized for use on 360 and PS3 and since it's an engine primarily used for FPS shooters. Physics? If i remember right Ageia licenced their tech out to Sony too? You made a bold statement; back it up.The real issue here isn't that Gears is better looking than every PC game currently out. It's the snobbery of a minority of PC fanboys who hate to see their machines bested by something they consider to be toys. Like i said, PC's are now taking their technology from Consoles now. Games. Infact, the only real difference, performance wise, is down the amount of RAM available. How you can raise PC's above consoles when you take that into consideration is beyond me.

Bioshock and Mass Effect look more promising than this. Even Assassins Creed looks better. Bungie have had a long time on this and I see Halo 2.1 not Halo 3. This will sell like hot cakes but then the hype will wear off and people will play original games instead.

No online play Orions. It's a single player game only but hopefully the non linear gameplay will mean different endings also. I never played System Shock, so I missed out. I hope that Bioshock will make up for that. As for Perfect Dark - Goldeneye64 > Perfect Dark > ET on the Atari > Perfect Dark Zero.

Not sure about the PC version but the 360 will be. The makers have said that anything is possible within the game regarding your character. You can be a psychopath or be a saint, each will affect your gameplay. I'm hoping for a Knights of the Old Republic/Half Life/Elder Scrolls IV Mix, where you can go back and do things differently each time.
