The cast continues to evolve. Two of the title characters, characters we met in the very first episode, meet violent deaths this week at Sylar’s hand.

What else is TV Guide not telling us?
We learn a lot more about Angela Petrelli, and that Nathan and Peter’s father was in the loop on some important stuff! We get some major chunks of Linderman’s backstory (and, really, the backstory of the Heroesverse), and see Linderman’s superpower demonstrated. And we discover that Nathan’s knowledge of art is not limited to the work of Isaac Mendez.
Do we get a lot of Linderman this week?
We do! He will remind “Strangelove” fans of Buck Turgidson, he will remind “Watchmen” fans of Adrian Viedt, he will remind “Carnivale” fans of Ben Hawkins, and he will remind “Clockwork Orange” fans of Alex DeLarge.

I had high hopes for the Peter(someone called him hairboy once...funny) and sylar fight but...youll see *cut* and we got zeroActingTalent Kid going to an ATM.

Herc says its two characters around since the first episode. I'm pretty sure Parkman & Clea Duvall didn't pop up 'til Episode 2...I'm psyched its back, it has been too long. Although Lost has been kicking ass again lately, which is nice. With HBO running out of good shows, its nice we'll still have BSG/Heroes/Lost for a little while.

Ok, so if Peter dies, but we can pretty much assume he will be back, how does he come back? He can heal, but I assume that like Claire his brain is vital to that process. If Sylar follows his typical M.O. and removes (eats?) the brain, how can Peter come back? (Also, if he can heal, why would Peter have a scar later?) Future Hiro has already established that Peter's not going to die, so we know that's not even an option. I don't know the answer to any of these questions for sure, but what I definitely know is that I'm glad the show is back. -
Christopher Eccleston was the Doctor, after all, so it seems only fitting.
And shouldn't it be "Kill Nikki, D.L. and Micah and save the show"? Those three are waaaaaay more annoying than Parkman.

Yeah, like Fount of Useless Info said... the promos make it look like Peter dies, but, shouldn't he be able to use Claire's healing powers to cover anything except Sylar going zombie on him? It seems like it would be hard to talk after your brain was eaten. Besides, since Peter seems to be a Hero-chameleon, he should be able to take Sylar.
Maybe he can't emulate 3rd-party powers? -

I shouldn't have read the recap, but it's too late. I am now getting the feeling Linderman will heal Peter during the final 5 mins of the ep if Peter is in fact "killed" by Syler. Ah well, I can always act surprised in front of my Brother when we watch tonight.

It was in the online comic (where he was with Nathan's daddy who had to kill a little girl who could make crops grow), and also was hinted at by spoiler sites like tvguide's askausiello who kept comparing Linderman to Ben Hawkins from Carnivale.

improvements since it first premiered. Kudos to the writers, producers. It's easily #1 in it's time slot. I'll get around to watching 24 when I find some time. In that regard, I'm glad 24 made the choice so easy to make. (But I'm still rooting for it to redeem itself next season)

It's what Future Hiro said to Peter when they met on the subway. Hiro will meet Peter again, except Peter will have a scar -- possibly from Sylar's attempt to scoop out his brain? Either way, Hiro can't meet him if Peter's dead. So ... yeah, it's clearly intended that we know Peter isn't staying dead.

Peter met Hiro on the subway, no scar. Peter absorbs other's power to be able to use. Peter would be able to freeze time during his run in with Sylar, no? There are tons of things he can do to win against him.

here's the deal with linderman, imo: it isn't that he can control future events. its that he can see all of time. hes just telling people what's going to happen, ie nathan would have wound up as prez with or without linderman-- linderman just takes advantage of people by making them believe he can control the outcome of their lives. apologies if this has been said before, dont wanna seem like im ripping someone else off... otherwise this is a PSA original

The thing about Peter is that he's not fully aware of all his powers yet, but maybe if he can harness Sylar's power, he'll figure out how everything works and he'll be able to pull his powers out whenever he wants, like Sylar. The reason Sylar can do this is because he knows it all works.Now I'm disappearing until tomorrow because I've already read two major spoilers just by coming to these talkbacks (I avoided invisiotext)... Dammit.

Remember that Sylar seemed to have the ability to feign death while in custody at primatech paper. Maybe that was the power he got from frozen guy. So maybe Peter is using that power in that preview scene with his mother. He's only mostly dead.
Oh and there is a copy of "episode 19" on BT right now with the label NoTV. It won't play and comes with a file codec.exe which is a trojan horse. -
Watchmen is overrated and the only thing Alan Moore wrote well was Swamp Thing.

We work hard to make sure that the producers of Heroes know exactly how to shape and mold the show in order to make it more appealing to our TB readers. His list of possible victims is rather small. The obvious choices are Peter and Mohinder since Sylar was in the process of tearing them up in the last episode. Issac would be another good candidate for head scooping. Claire is out and Mr. Invisible wasn't in the first episode(that we could see anyway). I don't believe the Haitian was in the first episode. So my guess for Sylar brain scooping is Peter and Issac. This is assuming that no other Heroes from the first episode show up in New York, but then again our Heroes have show a quirky ability to seemingly travel thousands of miles in a matter of hours before.

go check out www.nbc.com/heroes and read the online graphic novels; they take too long to download, but they are well worth reading for any heroes afficianado... and the most recent series of 6 ("War Buddies") tells us who Linderman is, and what his power is, and hints at how he is tied into the Petrelli situation...

I caught a Heroes feature on one of those crap entertainment shows (ET or whatever)and they flashed a pic of Milo V. on set. He had a monster scar on his face that originated above his left eye and ended on his lower right cheek. Not your "classic" Sylar-based brain-scooping injury, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a gift from the S-man. Either way, I guess it means Peter will be around at some later date lookin' all fuglified.

At last. I practically had a frikkin coronary when I found out that I would have to wait over a month for this to come back on. My feeling was that Peter was getting too powerful for the show but it looks like they may have plans for him other then dying at the end of the season.

And they showed an extended preview for the next few episodes(to a crappy Nickleback song) and they DEFINITELY showed Peter, alive, in a black Neo-ish suit, gnarly ass scar on his left cheek, kicking peoples asses in a hallway and making out with who I thought was Niki.

any more word on whether theres gonna be all new heroes next season or what? i had been kind of expecting that theyd all join up justice league style at the end of s1 and then be a team in s2, called the '9th wonders' since that's what mr. isaac called his book. butting heads etc, while going up against a new foe or group of organized foes led by sylar. i mean wouldnt that be cooler than a bunch of new dipshits going through the same angsty stuff as in the start of s1?

will be gone after this season. At first I was thinkin it would be interesting to see him grow into slick-haired sword dude, but now i realize, with the death of Isaac and the inevitable prevention of the bomb, the future will change, and that incarnation of Future Hiro will never exist. At the beginning of the show I was wary abouut Isaacs power, because to me it presented too many writing hurdles, but if he dies, ah well! Heck, as much as I dig Hiro, his power is a bit too much too. Both Peter and Hiro at some point either need to die or get de-powered. I dont want either of them to die, but when you are dealing with someone who can be anywhere or anytime he wants, and someone who has the potential of having everyones powers without limit, you either get a) the annoying plot device of "you cant change the past" (which they used once already to my annoyance with Charlie) or b)Peter becoming the ultimate villain culminating in him having a Doc Ock moment, realizing the error of his ways then sacrificing himself in a final heroic action. I'm sure it will still be a fun ride, but my hope is that the writers will find another more original avenue to take. So far this show has delivered, and if all goes well, a movie will come at some point!

I am not a hater. I like this show. "Company man" was damn fine television and one of the best episode of any show this season. Still, the only interesting characters to me are the Cheerleader, her dad, and the cop who can read minds. Everyone else is either dull or blandly acted.

this shows far from perfect, thats for damn sure-- when 1/2 the characters make you go 'aw, this shit again' there is something wrong. whats great about it though, is that it is an hourlong that has the luxury of learning the lessons of what drags hourlongs down and it keeps moving like a fucking bullet train, so you dont have to wait that long for an interesting thing to happen. still love the fucking thing, but yeah it's got some flaws.

I believe Syler taking Isaac's power will be his downfall because just as he is an addict to powers he will become an addict to painting the future and will possibly cause him to obsess over the future more than his mission to aquire more power. It will lead to him becoming overconfident because of how he interprets a painting just like how Agent Smith was certain that he saw Mr Anderson's defeat by him.

When Peter faced off against Isaac he used a "shout" to push him to the wall. No one else in the series showed any such power.
In this episode, Mrs. Petrelli says to Claire when Claire says something disagreeable: "You get that mouth from me." My guess is that Mrs. Petrelli has a sonic voice. -
Linderman's goal was to "save the world." Maybe saving Claire actually allows NYC to be blown up -- as Linderman concocted it to. I mean ** spoiler** wouldn't you think that Linderman knew Angela Petrelli (them being co-heroes back in the day) and Angela could have told Linderman about Claire's powers? **spoiler** It doesn't seem like she's opposed to the whole Nathan becoming president thing -- wouldn't be surprised if she was already aware of the plot to blow-up NYC. I mean it may be pivotal for Nathan's election. Also, perhaps Isaac painted something that he knew Hiro would find in 5 years time for Hiro to find. On the other hand, Sylar was painting pretty crappy -- I always imagined that Isaac's ability gave him an innate ability to draw. I mean, Peter didn't paint so poorly...

On that note, since he can perform telekinesis, this shows that Peter does have the ability to steal powers that Sylar has stolen, since Sylar wasn't naturally telekinetic. I think, however, that the power must be used in front of him, maybe? Not sure if Claire healed while Peter was there though...
In all seriousness, that's an interesting idea (though I hold out that he probably simply shouted and telekinetkicked Sylar). -
that next season will feature all new "heroes." i sincerely hope that there are at least four characters from the first season that carry on to the second season: HRG, Peter, Sylar, Hiro. Nuff said. I'm drunk, by the way. Our office had a "Heroes" party, and i got TANKED shotgunning bottles of beer! didnt know that was possible until today! but luckily the juice is making the heroes theories muscles FLEX!!!!

In Sylar's version of the painting that Isaac did, Nathan looked pretty damn evil. Granted, Sylar had limited artistic ability, but still. From what we saw in the previews, Nathan has turned to the dark side in some way(s).My question is this - what if when Sylar killed Isaac and took his power, and then re-painted Isaac's painting, he altered the future so Nathan turns out to be evil? That would tie into what Hiro and Ando need to go do - go back in time before Isaac is killed and save him, thereby re-changing the future.

By far the best thing this show has going for it is the premise. That's what keeps me coming back.
Most of the characters are fairly boring, the central plot is plodding, and none of these things should happen with a show about super heroes.
Also, regardless of what Herc says there has yet to be a show that was 4.5 from front to back. There have only been 4.5 moments; there has yet to be a 4.5 *show*.
Now, all that negative yapping aside, I'll be watching this show every week. It's not *bad* per se, but something tells me that has more to do with my nerd sensibilities and the premise moreso than any other aspect(acting, writing, directing, etc). In other words, if I were a chick, "Heroes" would be my "Desperate Housewives". :) -

My opinion of this show is pretty much a cut and paste of your post. I pride myself on my unique insight, but unfortunately since your post is a mirror image of my opinion, my insight doesn't feel so "unique" anymore. :)
Again people, we're not saying it's bad (it's not) - it's just way overrated. -
Remember that Primatech Paper ad? Well, if you signed up and applied for a job there they put you on their mailing list. And Hana Gittelman (the Wireless chick that found Sprague) has a website where she uses her gift to hack any and all Linderman's doings. Linderman has a special program designed to rig the voting machines on the day of the election. Through some sort of code breaking system on her site (with the help of fans, of course) they broke his evil system designed to help Nathan win...just in time for this episode. So Micah, well, he's gonna help Nathan win that election. Got it?

...but it sure would be interesting that way. It would set Sylar up as being the big baddie that everyone needed to stop in order to set the future back on course. We'll see.That said, I agree that this show is a touch overrated, but it's still gobs of fun when it's hitting on all cylinders. Cut some of the lengthy exposition and unnecessary character relationships, and personally I feel it would run a lot tighter and quicker than it does right now.

Am I the only one that thinks that we have not even seen the true form of the Shape Shifting girl. I mean she could look like anybody in the world and her natural form just happens to be a stunningly gorgeous girl. I think in her true form she, or possibly he, are really ugly or disfigured. Thus she was picked on or shunned her whole life. So when she discovers her power she takes the form of a beautiful girl and gets to be a total evil bitch to everyone.

... is this whole immersive thing. It's annoying since you feel like you need to be involved, and, really, sometimes I can't bother to sign onto a website (hey I'm lazy).
To it's credit, however, I do like how the show itself works fine w/out the other components. Outside of Linderman's aside that he had some "original" plans that were screwed up -- for most viewers who hadn't followed the Gittelman internet stuff, it doesn't really matter, since Micah resolved it anyway (and his original plan has no substantive bearing on the show).
Also, why didn't Mohinder just kill Sylar when he had him knocked out on the floor? He was going to already, and he thought Peter was dead. We'll just say he was emotionally distraught and not thinking clearly. -
...how you get some folks saying "you got to kill the cop off" and others saying "the cop is one of the only characters I find interesting", how you have folks waiting the whole episode just to see Hiro and others who think Hiro is off the charts goofy, how so many people have "these three or four characters I like and the rest suck" but they're different characters for nearly everyone. What that indicates is people so into their favorite characters that time spent on/with the others is an irritating distraction, and the fact that nearly all the characters chart on the lists of favorites indicates that nearly every character on the show is clicking with some part of the audience. Interesting.

Mystique vs. Rogue, anyone? At least in powers, if not the relationship. And Linderman's plan is totally Watchmenesque, but that theme has been coming up lately in fantasy - give them a disaster and they'll band together? wishful post-9/11 thinking perhaps?
and I have a few questions. Did we see the 'previously on' scene when the husband (forget the character's name, played by Leonard Roberts, Forest from Buffy) figured out it was Niki and not Jessica?
Second, if Linderman needs Petrelli to win the election, why did he contract Niki to kill him? Or did someone else hire her? Then again, we never saw her go after him, so maybe I'm assuming it was a hit since she got Petrelli's picture in an envelope.
also, when Hiro's friend said he was confused, so was I. When did we find out that Sylar was caught in the future? I just didn't get Hiro's assumption that Isaac would still be alive. -

But I have to admit that this one seemed to tighten things up and pull a lot of what I've been bitching about together. It was a good episode and has me looking forward to next weeks. Somebody needs to tell Mohinder that when you have the multi-powered monster unconscious on the floor you need to go ahead and decapitate him while you have the chance. Still it was good stuff.

... sylar's crappy painting was awesome! the representation of what isaac painted but through the gaze of an evil, warped mind. NICE nod to van gogh and the post-impressionists, who used to paint janky green-faced people because their perceptions were altered from drinking too much absinthe!
by the way, that sylar painted the same painting of president pete makes me think that maybe that was the last painting isaac ever made, and sylar simply inherited a useless power (i.e. HE can't really paint anything else in the future because it stops at what isaac saw...) would explain why they had all the news clippings hanging up in the studio when hiro visited. sylar had to figure it out some other way.

3. It wasn't that Sylar was caught in the future, when they met in Texas Issac told Hiro that the brain eating man was taken care of and wouldn't be hurting anyone else. Hiro didn't know that Sylar escaped. A couple other things for people who haven't kept up. From messages from the creators, Peter can copy powers just by being near the person, they don't have to be using them. Sylar and Peter's voice thing is just an artistic choice. And I'm betting that the key to killing Sylar is in Issac's sketchbook. "It might be worth something someday" -
1. Sylar is shown on the television show with the caption, "America Remembers." My bet is that Peter survives the blast, Nathan/Linderman have Sylar killed and then blame the blast on him. It's Nathan's way of keeping the Petrelli name out of harm's way.
2. When Isaac was dying he said that he had passed on the plans on how to stop Sylar. My guess is that the comic book that he sent out at the beginning of the show was the blueprint on how to stop Sylar.

but I am going to be damn sure that I steer clear of spoilers from now on. The great thing about talk balks is so often i miss things that other people pick up on, the bad thing is all the spoilers that got posted before the show went on. No matter how many times its happened spoilers just always mess things up for me. If I see just one thing spoiled it makes it so hard to get into something, and today was no exception. I knew about Linderman, I knew about Peter, and I knew about FutureHiro. Sigh. But now for the fun stuff! Speculation: Mrs Peter-Mom Iim thinking her power is in her voice. I like the Banshee\shout idea, though not entirely convinced that is what Peter used against Sylar and Isaac, we'll have to wait and see. I'm leaning more towards an Eden-esque type power. By the way, I miss Eden. I could not STAND her at first but she really grew on me. I think Isaac is going to come back somehow. He didnt seem all that distraught about dying cause I think he knew Hiro would save him.I like the Sylar going crazy idea. He is not exactly sane, and Isaacs power would very well have the kind of effect that would send him over the deep end. Jessica/Niki: It was interesting to see a moment of clarity for Jessica. My guess is at some point she and Niki will learn to coexist into a final third personality, a balance of her two halves. This third person is going to be the kick-ass super character we all want to see. I want to see her do more then shoot a gun. I want her to throw a car or something!!! Peter: Ah Peter! Good ol Petey. My guess for Peter was that he was going to get too powerful and go all Akira on us. It was interesting to see him using DL's phasing power on the next week preview, and kissing Niki. Can we envision a flying, phasing, super-strong, fast healing, telekenetic etc etc etc hero? He has so much potential and I am absolutely dying to see at least one show with a decent budget that really allows us to see what he is capable of. Right now, based on his weak fight with Sylar, i think he is really held back, but if he learned to let loose? True geek bliss. Heroes would make one hell of a movie. It could become the XMEN 3 movie we wanted and never got! Ted: COOL! I love that he got to see a more definate description of his power. It seems rather then just being Radioactive man he is now Energy man. Weve seen him do radioactive energy, electromagnetic pulses, what else could he be capable of? Manipulating magnetism doesnt seem too far off from an EMP. Anyone else think of what he may be able to do?
Parkman: At first I could not think of anything beyond hearing thoughts until I saw an article on IGN comparing him to Prof X. Mind control, and putting his own thoughts into other peoples heads doesnt seem too far off if Parkman can learn to use his powers more effectively. Finally considering that Missy seems to be able to control her powers so well, (and by the way, she seems to me to be closer to Scarlet Witch then Mystique, anyone?) my guess\hope is that next season will see good ol Mr Bennett, and perhaps the Invisible Man teaching some of our Heroes how to better use their power. Im guessing that the new trio of HRG, Prof Parkman, and Ted the Energy-man will prove to be quite beneficial. Im leaning more towards a team being led by HRG then Mohinder, the Incredibly Naive-man. Unless Mo starts to manifest the power of a brain connected to a spine. While there does not seem to be any indication of this, I heard someone mention that maybe Claire might manifest enhanced strength. At the very least at some point it would be cool to see her putting her powers to their limits by trying her hand at some martial arts. She could be Exreme-sports Girl! Or just, Extreme Girl!No cliff too high, no board trick too dangerous!

Just watch. It's going to be revealed, in the '5 Years Later' episode that, in those 5 years, Sylar has absorbed shape-shifting girl's power (as well as many others) and taken the place of Nathan Petrelli. Pick apart the preview and tell me I'm wrong. That whole "I'm leader of the free world, that means I'm the most special person alive" and the Sylar voice bit he does towards the end of the commercial are a dead give away.

Heroes is the same as pretty much any small comic company's attempted start-up of a Marvel style coherent "New Universe" in which a bunch of characters have an origin related to a single cause (mutantcy, the white event, the eclipse, etc.) Nothing new there, it just seems fresh to mainstream TV viewers who haven't seen that many comics. It's still done pretty well, I think. *** Give any two artists - or more specifically any working artist and a non-artist - the same "power" to paint future events and there's no reason to expect them to draw or paint in the same style. Of course Sylar's sketchy, "dark" drawing style totally reflects his own personality. *** I know the conventional AICN talkbacker wisdom is that the only thing on opposite Heroes is 24, but what's up with burning off one of the final King Of Queens by giving Doug and Carrie totally unrelated storylines? I'm rooting for a KOQ/CSI:NY crossover, but who shoots first, Doug or Carrie? *** If Julia's brother was a regular on "Less Than Perfect" and Little Alex was Mr. Roarke on that new "Fantasy Island". Why can't I believe that Eric and Malcolm are 'cast members' on this show, instead of 'guest stars'? Or will they be like Nurse Ratched on ST:DS9, a "guest star" on various episodes over the entire run of the series? *** I notice that out of respect to the religious, Linderman is being called "a healer". If you can bring a dried, black rose back to life, that's not healing, that's resurrection. *** So, everyone knows Future-Hiro is an evil terrorist, right? Or are we not allowed to acknowledge TV Guide spoilers at this site?

Sylar taking over as President and replacing Nathan would be a great twist. This would also be a great reason as to why Nathan/Sylar wants to kill everyone with powers in the future. So it will make it easier for him to attain their powers. Damn. This is an awesome theory. It would also explain why Sylar painted himself into the president painting and not Nathan.

If they have demonstrated or stated that Linderman's power is "healing", I'll go with that. I'm just saying, when a rose complete with leaves, stem and thorns turn completely flat coal black, it's pretty dead. As in the old rolling Stones song "I'll put dead flowers on your grave". And not wanting to offend the folks who believe in the part of Easter that doesn't involve bunnies, colored eggs or jelly beans, but returning something from the dead isn't 'healing' it, it's resurrection. Or maybe I have the semantics wrong - I guess JC was known as a 'healer' and he brought a guy back from the dead, din;t he? *** Still, didn't a lot of us expect Linderman to be the one to bring Peter back? (I did.) *** So the next time the doctor tells you Grandma's dead, ask him if he can "heal" her. You know, just to see the look on his face. Really, i'm not trying to be argumentative or confrontational, as fun an AICN talkback tradition as that is. If the official word is that Linderman is a healer, fine. I just don't think 'reviving from the dead' (or from a dried, dehydrated, petrified and blackened state) fits the conventional definition of 'healing'. It's just me, right?

is that they aren't going to shuffle the cast as much next season as they had planned. The core group will stick around, and they will add a new female hero.That said, this was a solid return. Company Man is still the finest so far. The Sylar/Peter confrontation was nice, but short. The crying wasn't so good. I hope all of the characters that act like they're the insiders or power players actually have the credentials to back up their words.

It's not Moore's style, but if Ellison can collect for Terminator lifting Soldier, and Matheson can sue Poltergeist for "homaging" Little Girl Lost, the Watchman are due some dollars. Hell, the comics community should mount a class action suit against NBC.

We won't know until everything is revealed. If it hangs together without plot holes and with everything tying up in nifty ways, it'll be brilliant to the extent that the uneven writing and shameless borrowing (BTW: the plot point taken from Watchmen goes back to 19 freaking 48, with the classic "Unite and Conquer" by the immortal Theodore Sturgeon) will be completely excused. If it has the usual amount of sloppiness and loose ends, the final verdict will be very good but not classic because of those and the aforementioned potential shortcomings. If there are major WTF? plot holes, we'll all be let down. We shall see.

I'm definitely looking forward to some type of heroes 'team up'. While the Sylar-Pete throw down was short, still love what Sylar did with the glass. What I don't understand was why Pete turned invisible and just stood there? You would think he would have, I don't know, moved behind Sylar or something to get the drop on him.I didn't watch the previews, but very interesting the idea that Sylar is 'Future Nathan'. I wonder what tidbits they'll let known from the future?I like the idea of a previous incarnation of 'Heroes'. I'm assuming Sulu was part of that former 'team' as well...

Doesn't plan on suing "Heroes". He enjoys the show and feels "Heroes" is doing a service for the comic book industry by bringing a comic book format to 15 million viewers a week. And a version of "Rising Stars" is in development for TV.There is room for 2 comic book shows with the same premise. It's all in the execution. I think "Heroes" is a fun show. Not awesome, not the best acting, it's just fun. I don't understand why people insist on listing all the things it has "Ripped Off". Some of the source material people are listing would never work on TV. "Watchmen" would never work on TV. But we are all in agreement it is a good comic series.People need to realize that by complaining on an AICN Talkback about how a fluff comic book TV show (designed to kill a few boring hours of your life and entertain you in the process) rips off other "Cooler" and "Better" comics of the past, you aren't earning geek cred. You are just stating the obvious. Just sit back and enjoy the show. Maybe take a shot whenever Hiro does his TAS face, when Peter moves his bang, when Claire attempts and fails to create an Emmy Worthy clip for consideration, or when Dr. Stupid aka Mohinder says a sentence with the word "Research". You might feel better.

I used to think Parkman was bad, but after last night I changed my tune and got back on the Mohinder is a Stupid Fuck bandwagon. What could have been a cool Professor X like character has turned into a waste of space the way Simone was. The reason Sylar didn't eat his brain was because Mohinder probably doesn't have one.

Sylar DOES NOT have Eden's power with the voice. I've seen this repeated on so many other threads it boggles the mind. She blew her brains out so Sylar would not get her power. The VOICE that people keep hearing is just an effect the people who make the show use to let you know Sylar is about to kill someone. End of story. I wish this whole thing of Does Sylar have Eden's power go away. He doesn't!

I like the theory that Isaac put the Sylar vulnerability drawings in his sketchbook and gave it away.Another theory (and shoot me down if I'm forgetting something) is that the key to killing Sylar is in the painting that Hiro delivered to Linderman. I'm not too confident about this because I can't remember whether or not we actually saw that painting (if we did, can someone remind me what it showed?). As for the articles and pictures hanging in Isaac's apartment, they're exactly what Hiro said they were: a timeline. Future Hiro made it, trying to figure out the cause and effects of all the events of the past five years (probably trying to figure out what he will be able to change or something).

Even if you're a "hater", you have to admit this show, and this episode, are far better than most of the dreck on TV. Compared to the 1st season of 'Lost', this show is way ahead of the curve. Considering the number of characters and stories, it's juggled all the balls fairly well. And yes, 'Company Man' is my favorite episode this season and followed up well with Bennett last night. The scene in the diner..."he's a schlub"...was outstanding. Ted was very cool..."burn bright, not hot". Wow.
Next week...will make or break this show. Time travel is usually hosed by inconsistent paradoxes or some deus ex machina in the last reel that makes no sense. If they do the "5 Years Gone" well, I will be even more in love with this show. -
Because the last time he tried, Sylar stopped a bullet in mid-air. At this point, it was better to get out while he had the chance than to try to kill him and find out that he was no longer stunned.
More importantly, he didn't kill him because it would have screwed up the plot. -
The key to killing Sylar was in the comic book pages 9th Wonder which he gave to the runner right before he gave him the sketch book. Also, the online graphic novel at Heroes.com explains the articles and pictures hanging up in Isaac's apartment. He's trying to figure out what events he can effect in order to change the past so NYC won't blow up.

To those complaining that the next episode will be a rip off of days of future past, the show has already referenced that plot line. In one of the very first episodes (possibly the pilot), Hiro talks about his power in reference to DoFP. It's not like they are trying to pull the wool over our eyes and deny the similarities. The difference is that these are supposed to be people who know about comics, but know that there is no such thing as superpowers...until this started happening.

oh well, we must soldier on...maybe mini-chrth has finally arrived.I have never read a comic in my life, so I don't get any of the Watchmen references you guys are discussing/complaining about. but the 9/11 connection was more than blatant, it was undeniably intended. the explosion, orchestrated by one baddie to kill some people and galvanize a movement. here it's lindermann and his agenda, in real life, bin laden and his agenda.I also wondered why mohinder didn't bash Sylar's head in, and how the fuck he got a dead body in a cab across town. but oh well, minor quibbles.as for the show being overrated, as some have said, look how popular it is! there are very few shows on TV right now that are both highly rated, and highly respected. Sopranos and a couple others. and on network TV? forget it. Heroes may not be perfect, but in the age of reality TV shitstorms, it is amazing there are still enough people with brains enough to clamor for entertainment like this. overrated? no way. a show like The Bachelor, where people get to jack off to women crying after being dumped, THAT'S overrated. we need heroes, and we need Heroes.

I can tell you that this and 24 (different topic in terms of quality downfall) are the only shows I watch. Pete is such a small guy, I'm sure super strong Mohinder had no problem lugging him around. And people with pieces of glass stuck in the back of their heads are a dime a dozen in NYC...

in every measurable way. Writing is MUCH tighter, there is a clear plot which is advancing weekly, and the cast is actually starting to iron out a lot of wrinkles. Even Mohinder, Peter and Parkman were good this week (though Nikki/Jessica still sucks). I'm VERY leary about the time travel / future prediction element to the show (since every time any other sci-fi has incorporate that, it has sucked) ... but if they pull it off, this may be one of - if not THE - best debut season of any show ever. I guess it helps that it "borrows" so heavily from tried and true formulas, but what the hell - a weekly X-Men series ? Sign me up !

I can't believe no one had brought up these things before.
The pictures and articles in Issaac's apartment were a timeline (as hiro mentioned) but it wasn't a linear timeline. It was Future hiro's timeline of all the possibile timelines that occured when he meddled in the past, each strand barnching as events were altered or not altered. My guess is we will find that Future Hiro is responsible for Hiro's not being able to save Charlie, having teleported Past Hiro back to Japan for the greater good. (That's right Hiro will develop the power to telport other people as well).
Isaac's skecth book will become very valuable in the future.
If you've read the online comics Linderman can't bring back things from the dead, he can only heal the living.
The shape-shifting girl is not shape shifting. She's altering people's perceptions (hince why the whole room goes funky when she reverts). Remember when she said "i can show him things that'll make him gouge his eyes out." She has the power of illusion. I predict she will die rather quickly by sylar's hand. No one believed Peter was dead so his "death" had absolutely no weight.
Also, Isaac? I've been waiting for him to die for 4 months. It was painfully obvious that he was not long for this world... His painting showed as much. His death is pretty underwhelming as well.
Perhaps letting the audience in on all the plot revelations doesn't work ALL the time... Herc's right, we do know entirely too much to be affected in any real way by many of these plot developments. -
if Future Hiro has those photos there listing a multitude of possible timelines, how could they still just stay there as he changed things? wouldn't the photos on string change, if he altered time before he himself put up the photos on string?isn't it safer to assume that Future Hiro is waiting there, piecing together info, to find the best place to go back to, or the best course of action, when in walks old Hiro (and Ando).wait, that doesn't work either...FUCK, where is chrth?

I agree about Peter, there was no question ever about that, so it didn't have the emotional impact it should have.
That said, I disagree about Isaac. It wasn't about shock there. His death was all about how he was going out. He knew just like we did that he was going to die. He didn't do anything to prevent it, but he did prepare for it. There were a few things hinted at during his death scene that I think will come back to be of major importance in later episodes when the confrontation between Sylar and everyone else comes to a head. -
is when whatever huge clue he left behind is brought to light. His final gift. THEN I think his death will have some sort of emotional impact on me. Right now I was pretty indifferent to it. Maybe mildly disappointed that he gave up the ghost so easily.

By the hair of Sanjaya I was disappointed in the Peter / Sylar non-fight. Any average human when learning they could fly, or what ever would fool around, experiment and practice the crap out of those abilities. Look at nuke man. He sits around shooting small bursts out of his hands like he was popping his knuckles - a very logical reaction to having his ability. Any of us would do the same. Peter, therefore, should be further along at this point. I hope we do eventually get the money shot of a true kick-butt Peter / Sylar fight. I was disappointed in last night's episode because I was expecting it there. And don't get me started on Mohinder. He was going to kill Sylar anyway so he didn't take a minute to finish the job when he had the chance? Not logical. But I love the show.

This is the latest Heroes comic, and future Hiro explains what was going on with the strings. They are Hiro's timeline where he is trying to stop the bomb and the whole screwed up future. Sylar was the man who exploded. He had killed Claire and could regenerate, so Hiro couldn't stop him. Hiro told Peter to save Claire, thinking it would stop the explosion. Claire was saved, but nothing changed...enter old school Hiro. -
What was the point, really? He was dead on camera for maybe 20 minutes. Enough for his family to be upset (but strangely OK with it. They didn't even ask questions really!) and then have Claire resurrect him. The ONLY lasting consequence from this is Mohinder going to Eric Roberts for help. Maybe it was all for the characters, but I can't help but feel like the creators were like "oh man, the audience is totally gonna think he's dead!!" when they were writing this.

I'll give you that. If the creators really were thinking that the audience would think Peter was dead, that is really kind of pathetic. It was obvious what should happen to keep him from staying dead and that he couldn't stay dead. Hopefully, it was done to demonstrate his new power and to move other things along in the plot (i.e. Nathan's willingness to "scarifice" him if he won't really die, Mohinder possibly joining Primatech--which is the best direction they could take him, IMHO)

but when his mom and brother were grieving for him I cried. That was some awesome acting. Mohinder seems to have my curse. He keeps getting in bed with the wrong guys. I don't understand all the Mohinder hate. So is Linderman truthful or just psycho? Peter is shaping up nicely. He seems a little tougher than he was. That battle was freakin amazing! Now that Sylar has Isaacs powers will he become so obsessed with painting the future he won't kill anyone else?

the bomb will be prevented from going off, but Linderman will still be at-large...And Sylar, much like every other ability stolen, will try and use Isaac's painting ability to find everyone else from the list. He's sort of has a one track mind...

I mean, it's not like Fox is ever going to be smart enough to give us an X-MEN movie that features that classic storyline, so I'm glad somebody's adapting it. Hell, as long as the episodes are as entertaining as last night's, I don't care if HEROES rips off X-MEN or WATCHMEN or frickin' SON OF AMBUSH BUG. (Fingers crossed for SUPERMAN VS. MUHAMMAD ALI, though...)

Future Hiro going back into the past (as a result of seeing on the "Timeline" he created, and what Present Hiro tells him) that Claire's death was the cause of the alternate universe, hence the whole Subway "Save The Cheerleader" message to Peter? Or is it a "What If" episode?

The reason the Shape Shifting girl always has on the same outfit is because that is not what she really looks like. But rather it is the apperance the she has taken on to be her "normal" self. Like I said before she can take on any form she wants and her regular self just happens to be a beautiful girl. No we have not even seen what she really looks like yet and the fact that she keeps wearing the same outfit is just a clue that that is not what she really looks like.

it's hard to say it, but I agree with anchorite. I don't think any viewer familiar with the show was at all worried about Peter being dead. here are the reasons:1. cataracts. on the show, they indicate incapacitation or posession (isaac), not death.2.he got stabbed in virtually the same place as Claire did, and she regained consciousness as soon as the thing was removed.3. if the writers actually wanted you to think, "wow, maybe Peter's dead, etc." do you think they would have brought him back to life 10 minutes later? no, they would have stretched it at least til the next episode.I think it happened as a catalyst for Nathan, to increase the connection between Clair and Peter, to get Mohinder freaked to the point of calling HRG (which ended up being eric roberts) and to show that Peter is vulnerable in the same way that claire is, in the brain/brain stem.no way would anyone watching the show more than a few episodes really think Peter was going to buy it. and no way would the writers not know that. it was simply a device.

Let's be clear here: Isaac is a talented painter who has the ability to see the future. Sylar is NOT a talented painter who, thanks to killing Isaac, now has the ability to see the future. Acquiring Isaac's POWER did not cause Sylar to gain Isaac's TALENT. That is the reason Sylar's painting was so poorly done. (On a related note, I do believe that Sylar may have been painting himself, however, and not Nathan.)

I have seen most of that terrible movie due to a very bad double date I went on. Anyhow, RCFOM cleared up the whole Candace/One Outfit thing for me. Also, anyone feel that NBC is advertising these last eps wrong? Someone came up to me and asked me if it was true that there is only 4 eps of Heroes left, thinking it was over and done due to the commercial.

On a separate note did it seem like nikica?? sp, was coming together? Her character has now been set up to butt heads with morph chick. Hopefully there will be a merge of her personalities. We learned last night that Niki was formed because of her father. That was cool. It isn't the soul of Jessica's sister, but an alternate of her father. I am confusing myself here. Once they merge perhaps her acting will be better. She only gives a good performance when she is Niki, and whiny Jessica needs to go.So when Sylar takes peoples powers does he take their personality too like Rogue? -

I disagree, though maybe it's just because I'm an artist myself. And besides, a stick figure is still just a stick figure regardless how "good" the stick figure is, especially when compared to a painting done by a person with actual talent. Perhaps this is a futile discussion in semantics...
As Leesheri said, "Where's the dude that can pull stills from episodes?" I want to see Sylar's painting AND Isaac's crude stick figure drawing. -

So, When Hiro first jumped to future NYC and visited Isaac's studio, it was the decapitated body of Ted Sprague that he saw..not the week-long rotting corpse of Isaac. Sylar will take up residence in Isaac's studio...where HRG, Parkman, and Sprague will likely visit when they arrive in NYC...after all...it only makes sense that HRG would want to enlist the aid of Isaac in order to take out the tag and bag tracker. Of course, Sylar will be lying in wait...and sprague will bite it...and sylar will go supernova!!
as for buying an election....isn't that what the Chinese Govt. did when the contributed all that money to Bill Clinton's re-election campaign?? -
Wait, a stick figure's just a stick figure? Then why is Matt Feazell the godfather of small press mini-comics and his Cynical Man an iconic character? *** Getting Peter to the Petrelli's: oh come on, that's an old cliche: "You'll have to forgive my friend, he's had a little too much to drink". The trick is to transport him before the rigor mortis kicks in. *** What I wondered was, Sylar levitates an entire bucket load of shattered glass and sends it flying in the direction Peter was last seen in. And yes, it took longer on screen than it should have, since it was an expensive special effect and they wanted to get more than a couple seconds of footage out of it. And yes, Peter was trying to move out of the way, not just standing there: the fragment did hit him in the BACK of the head, showing he was running away. Question; with all that flying glass, how is it possible that only ONE piece hit the target. Sure, the fatal blow was the important one, but there were hundreds of fragments of flying glass. Even if some smaller bits passed through soft muscle tissue, wouldn't his clothes be shredded? wouldn't his other cuts bleed? He did a pretty awesome job of 'ducking' if every single piece but one missed him. Also, when it hit, I got the impression - from where the glass floated suspended and then he turned visible - that it was entirely embedded in his skull, though the piece Claire tugged out was too long to fit and didn't have blood on the protruding end. Minor glitch or maybe it was just the angle they showed it at. *** I like Matt "the Pilot" Parkman and I hope they bring back the old Lana Lang as his partner, Dykey FBI Chick. Kill Mohinder, save the show. *** Oh, and maybe not everything Linderman says is true, but how the heck is Mi-freaking-cah supposed to 'save the world today' with his computer manipulating pay-phone fixing ATM draining powers? *** And to whoever said Swap Thing was the only good alan Moore series, I implore you to wise up and read Miracleman, Halo Jones, DR and Quinch, his Superman stories "What do you get..." and "Whatever happened to..." and that ET rip-off thing he did. Oh yeah, and From Hell and V For Vendetta and League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Lost Girls. And I heard he wrote a few more things since then, but I can't afford all the comics I used to buy when I worked at The Book Stop back in the '80s. "Best... comics... writer... EVER!"

When Hiro returns from the future, he stops Sylar from removing Issac's brain. In the finale, shape-shifting girl assumes the identity/image of the late Simone, for some reason (perhaps to help hide herself from Sylar). Thus, this would tie in with the continuity of Peter's vision. (Linderman is taking Micah to NYC; Nikki/Jessica and DL will go there to rescue him. Matt will impersonate a police officer in order to infiltrate the tracking station.)

Why Claire would be wearing her cheerleader outfit in the finale? (Why would she have packed it and brought it with her, anyway?) It's a stretch, but maybe her school's cheerleading squad will be in NYC during the election, and this event will be near where the tracking station is. Claire will steal a uniform from one of her fellow cheerleaders and put it on in order to infiltrate some building.

I have always had issues with explaining Peter's dream. If it was a prophetic dream, is the a power we don't know anything else about? My immediate thought is, no it's just his mind reacting to all of the stresses and the knowledge that NY is gonna blow. Then, I have to remind myself that if it isn't prophetic, how can he see Claude in the dream when he has never met him?
I'm having a hard time figuring that one out. So, for now, I'm not putting too much weight on details of what he saw (especially since if you read the new online comic--which is canon and where they introduced Hana and revealed Linderman's power and connection to the Petrelli clan--we now know that Sylar is actually the dude that blew up...or at least Hiro thinks so and it makes sense with what appeared to be a dead Sprague when Hiro jumped to the future the first time.)

At one point, Simone's father mentioned having dreams of Peter flying. He may have had powers as well and Peter was near him a lot before the father died.

I did think about that, and I'm not sure. I'm pretty confident that the dream was after he met Isaac, but we also saw him use art to show the future. I don't know. Something has always seemed off about that dream to me. Maybe Mama Petrelli's power is projecting dreams to other people. I don't think lindermann orchestrating an election is meant to imply that someone orchestrated Bush into the white house just so he could be president during 9/11. I just think that the idea of an event like that being used to galvanize humanity is assuredly taken from 9/11, both in terms of the hopes of what it would accomplish (al qaeda) and what it did accomplish (intense, often paranoid levels of patriotism).and anchorite, you see what happens? And about all this allegory stuff - just because an event or series of events is in our collective consciousness, doesn't mean that drawing on it indicates your story is a straight allegory. This is the trap so many people fall into with Battlestar Galactica. As many people have stated, the notion of faking an attack to bring people together is an old concept, but it has extra resonance after 9/11 with the various conspiracy theories. Just as rigging elections is a very old concept, but it has extra resonance because of fears and criticisms around our recent elections. Just because you evoke those concepts, doesn't necessarily mean you're trying to do a 9/11 allegory. I guess my original point was that it's interesting that these concepts are re-emerging so often lately. What I'm looking at is more about the effect of these stories on the viewer, and not necessarily the intent of the writers. -
Clair is dressed as a cheerleader to be bait for Sylar. She changed her hair, and might be hard for him to spot otherwise. Peter is standing by, "invisible", waiting for Sylar to show up so he can destroy him. Doctor Who is happy during the "nuke" because they get to kill Sylar and/or the tracking system(which is most likely a person, maybe Mama P.) Just my predictions.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but this is what seemed obvious to me from the previews: Sylar eventually kills Shape-Changer Girl, gains her powers, and becomes Nathan Petrelli. So, Sylar becomes President of the United States. That is why Sylar was drawing Nathan Petrelli as evil at the end of last night's episode: he is drawing himself.

in other comic universes (comicverses) that are similar to the heroes on, well, Heroes. I have no frame of reference, but I think seeing what story arcs have arisen from other characters with similar powers might make predicting how the show is going to develop all the more interesting.fuck, that was a long sentence! to make up for it, I'll give you all a great trivia question...What person is the subject of more public statues in the United States than any other historical figure?...Sacajawea! isn't that interesting?OK, I'm done.

the new ones post after the episode has aired. The low down on Hanna. She followed an email from the paper factory to Las Vegas to find Linderman. She got side tracked saving a little girl from a pedophile. Then HRG sent her, after he turned, to get a file from Washington. The file was on the Fratellis ;) dad and Linderman. They were in Vietnam together and one of them had healing powers, guess who, and the other didn't. They had a falling out and then became friends again. You don't even learn their names, they have codenames, until the end of the file. So I don't think it spoils you so much as fills you in on the back story that they can't cover on the show.

...Future Hiro states that he went back to tell Peter "save the Cheerleader..." because when Past Hiro attacked Sylar with his sword (an event that has not happened in the show's timeline yet) he regenerated and blew up New York anyway. Future Hiro states that Sylar was able to do this because he had killed Claire and taken her regenerating power. Future Hiro changed the past by actually having Peter save Claire, the end result however, was not exactly what he expected.

No time to read the TB, and I probably won't be around much for a bit with my scion near arrival. I will say this: Heroes continues to have the best 1st season of any tv show ever. Better than 24. Better than Family Guy. And dare I say it? I will:

Here's a thought: Linderman is Nathan and Peter's real father. He had a long-running affair with Grandma Petrelli, and her husband was tortured with the knowledge of it, and eventually killed himself. It makes sense in a variety of ways: Firstly, both Grandma Petrelli and Linderman are associated together back from the Vietnam-era Injustice Society; Secondly, they are both ruthlessly Machiavellian's who are trying to control the younger super-powered types; Thirdly, both are making great efforts to get Nathan into Congress and then the White House; Fourthly, we know that at least one (if not both) of the parents of any super-powered person must have a power themselves, and we know that Linderman defintiely has a power (healing others); we do not know if Grandma Petrelli or deceased Papa Petrelli have/had powers. Finally, the reason why Linderman and Grandma Petrelli might be so ruthless and power-hungry is that they might have originally started out young and with good intentions, but their abilities caused the powers that be to treat them like lab animals and government property (as per Primatech), so the only solution is to fight fire with fire, and to become ruthless and powerful yourself. This is why Grandma Petrelli is trying to send Claire overseas: to protect her from getting caught up in the deadly power games and corruption surrounding anyone who has these powers.*****Regarding Isaac's abilities: he did not create the future with his paintings, but rather reflected what was inevitable. The writers and producers of this show seem to have taken a more classical view of time and time travel than most science-fiction and comics do: that the past, present, and future are already determined (ie, Fate, or determinism), and are inevitable and unchangeable. We can only play our pre-determined role in events. Isaac seems to have understood this, whereas Hiro does not (yet). Isaac saw his own death, and knew he could not change it. I beleive that he has also foreseen Sylar's eventual death, and took some satisfaction in knowing that his own murderer would one day meet his fate appropriately. I think that Isaac died with a certain amount of grace and dignity. Hiro, on the other hand, has a more naive view of time and determinism. I think that his encounter with future Hiro might be the begininning of Hiro learning to be more accepting of determinism and cause-and-effect, as the older Hiro explains the facts of life to him. You can not really "change" the past. You can only play your role in events ("the world is a stage and we are merely players"). I do believe that it is inevitable in the story that a good portion of New York City will blow up. We have already seen it, so it is a "fait accompli". The question is: how does it happen, who causes it, who survives, what are the repurcussions, and is anyone brought to justice? (alright, those are five questions)...anyway, it will be interesting to see the next episode. I think that the writers and producers are doing a good job. I am enjoying the show immensely, and it is one of the few shows that are truly appointment television for me.

took the old Architects of Fear plot, spruced it up, made it better, and made it the 'reveal' in a Superhero mystery plot, whilst specifically acknowledging their source by having 'Architects of Fear' playing on the TV in one scene.
Heroes then took that plot point from Watchmen, and kept it as the big reveal in it's Superhero mystery plot, but made it make less sense by removing the alien angle, and, er, that's about it. Plus the guy behind Heroes says he's "never read" Watchmen. Nice ethics.
Never mind, this show is for 14 year olds, hopefully the somewhat darker and more action packed Watchmen movie will target older viewers. -
One important thing to note about the timeline in Issac's apartment: It is BRANCHED. You'll notice that in some of the shots the single string very distinctly splits into multiple paths at certain points.

The time problem arises from the fact that Future Hiro said that Claire died in one timeline giving Sylar regenerative powers so that stabbing Sylar did not stop him from going nuclear. There's a link to the .pdf somewhere above. Anyhow, Future Hiro has seen the past change and believes it can be changed. That is why he went back to tell Peter to save the cheerleader, so Sylar would not be able to regenerate... and that worked (so far as Future Hiro believes). Apparently Future Hiro is trying to determine all of the independent causes which will lead to the destruction of Manhattan and stop them... hence his spiderweb. My problem is that Future Hiro doesn't seem to remember his lesson from Charlie nor believe it. In any event, according to Future Hiro, Claire was killed by Sylar in one timeline and not killed by Sylar in another. Of course, they could resolve this by having Sylar acquire the power from someone else or just have Future Hiro be wrong about how it went down.

Not important, but Adrian Pasdar and Milo Ventimiglia are 12 years apart ('65 and '77). I don't really get that they are portrayed as being that far apart in age. Not that an 18 year old boy doesn't think much of his 6 year old brother, but... whatever. As admitted, not important... but to me that makes Mr. Petrelli seem like a very young President.

Mohinder tried to kill Sylar once and got owned. I probably would have ran my ass off, too.
The problem is he couldn't leave dead Peter for Sylar to eat his brain, so Mohinder had to both run his ass off AND take Peter with him.
Calling authorities doesn't make sense. By the time they got there, Sylar would have time to eat some brains. Plus, what do you tell the police? Brain-eating mutant killed your friend in your apartment? That plot ends with Mohinder locked up as an enemy combatant in Gitmo. -
actually you make a good point, but not the one you'vr made. Sylars unconcious, you've already tried to kill him once, when he was concious and that didnt work out too well. why not kill the guy when he's knocked out? if you have enough time to lug around a dead body, surely you've got enough time to shoot sylar again.. and this time you can't miss.

I don't so much think that Hero didn't stop the "nuke" because he didn't stop Sylar. The "nuke" is what Linderman wants, and Linderman will do what needs to be done and will change his methods to achieve the outcome (thats why he went to get the kid). So Hero stopping or not stopping Sylar doesn't really address the root cause of the "nuke" and so it doesn't stop the event. If Hero addresses the source of the event, it may be stopped.

The taxi Mohinder uses is his father's cab. Mohinder simply dragged Peter into it and drove over to the Petrelli home. Pretty straightforward. But, he should have quickly disposed of Sylar. He's had two chances now, and he's missed both of them. I liked it when Mohinder got the drop on Sylar with the drug-laced tea. It finally showed the character growing some balls and smartening up. The writers do need to toughen the character up, otherwise he will become a magnet for cranky fans to hate. It is really up to the writers and the producers to be creative enough to make any of these characters interesting.

Point taken. I tend to agree with a post way above that the biggest reason Mohinder didn't kill Sylar the second time around is because it would have fajangled the plot.
My question is: how is it that Sylar can hear and kill an invisible man, but can't hear or stop Mohinder? I didn't know Mohinder had ninja stealth. -
The tag and tracking device that Bennett is dragging Parkman and Sprague to find and get rid of isnt an object but a person? Someone who may be an empath towards those special folks out there. Someone who would have to have some ties to Linderman seeing as how he's the one running the whole Primatech bunch. Maybe someone like Momma Petrelli? Would be an interesting plot choice to have Bennett, Parkman and Sprague coming to get rid of the mother of the future President.
I know, very out there, and while it might be an interesting twist, it might be just a bit TOO convenient as far as just how tiny the world they live in would be.
Those of you wondering where your life is posting here in your 30's, I'm in my 40's. Granted I do this while at work, but it's sad just the same. ;-) -

Everyone thought Mohinder was an idiot before he drugged Sylar with the tea. If the writers stay consistent with his character, then there is no way he is going to trust Eric Roberts, especially after he just got tricked and nearly killed a day earlier. He's really not that dumb, even though they might make it look that way at first.

... just to be controversial. And that's not entirely true... but:
(1) There is a plausible "concern" for Peter being dead (even though, most of us assumed he wasn't) in that Peter said that in order to use powers he picked up, he had to feel as he felt when he was with the other person. Seeing, as you can't really feel anything when you're unconscious (or maybe you can, I suppose it depends upon what you call unconscious or the degree to which you are not aware) -- it is plausible that he couldn't kick in the Claire-effect. That's why I like Leesheri's comment on Peter's power being tied to empathy...
(2) I am tired of the whole 9-11 debate, so I'm just going to extend this. Linderman did mention that the people with powers started doing good than stopped doing so much good, and his blow-up scheme was to resolve this. So this is in some ways like Veidt's plans -- Linderman may be a megalomaniac, but a "benificent" one, if you will. What made less sense to me than removing the alien angle, was removing the Soviet Union angle, since, while Linderman argues that there's some level of moral decay amongst the super-powered society -- there's no real pressing concern that I can see in the Heroverse to bring the world together (although, that may be formed from his Vietnam years and it simply took him this long to execute on it). Additionally, Linderman is not comparable to the Al Qaeda because the 9-11 attack was based on striking fear and (as far as I understand it) destabilizing the Western world -- or the US in particular, whereas, Linderman is trying to strike fear and unify the world -- or bring hope? I don't really remember. But I'm pretty certain his motives were different.
(3) No Hiro has yet to change the future in a substantive way. Just a comment on all the Hiro speculation. Also, I don't know why future Hiro assumes that Claire was saved -- he seems to think his plan worked, but that wasn't confirmed (if Claire dies later).
(4) You can opt in or out of reading the comics. It provides a different perspective. I did read the comic first, and it seemed to me a more interesting reveal finding this out there than in the show -- it did make the show reveal a bit anticlimactic though. You miss out on the whole plot-line of Linderman being a more staunch idealist who was somewhat against making "small sacrifices" for the "greater good", to becoming who he is today. You might have also missed out on one of the more vicious uses of the power to heal (that I have seen), which is to keep people in a perpetual state of torture... -

It is not sad to see people in their 30s and 40s posting about a show about comic book superheroes. My dad is over 60 and watches golf 10 hours a day. Whats the difference really?! Heroes rules.

This show fundamentally lacks *drive*. The only thing it has going for it is it's basic premise. It's got all the pieces, but as I said before, somehow we end up with something that's (far) less than the sum of its parts.

the use of healing power to torture, by inflicting potentially fatal pain that can quickly be healed, over and over. I can top that but I can't attribute the source: it was from a comic creator interview. Find someone who heals (Claire, Painkiller Jane, Wolverine) and just bust them up and mangle them. Then put their broken bones into casts twisted at right angles (or just stuff them in a trunk or barrel) so they heal all gnarly and twisted. Sick. *** I still want to know, if you slice Claire in two, will both halves regenerate like a planaria worm and create a Clone-Claire? I told a friend about the tendency here to give the Heroes characters superheroish code names, and that people were calling Ted Sprague "Radioactive Man/EMP Man". We disagreed over who Radioactive Man is: he relates it to the Simpsons superhero ("Up and At dem!") while I remembered the Thor Chinese commie villain who later joined the Baron Zemo's Brotherhood Of Evil. I told him Ted used his Electro Magnetic Pulse power to shut the lights out at the holding facility so he, Parkman and Bennet could escape, and he said that if Ted can turn the lights out with his power, he should be called "The Clapper". I told him I'd mention that idea here, so here it is. "The Clapper" Heh. Hey, not my joke, I just promised to pass it along.

It was pointed out on another board that I frequent that the supposed Watchmen twist was actually taken from the original Outer Limits episode "The Architects of Fear". The plot revolves a bunch of scientists, fearful of the Cold War erupting into nuclear war, whom alter a scientist to look like an alien then stage an alien invasion with the express purpose of getting the world to unite under a common cause. Moore even admits to getting the basic idea from that. Remember kids: Everyone rips off someone else...it's all about the style in which they present it which gets certain pieces remembered. Well, that or a huge amount of time inbetween so that the new generation has zero awareness of the original "source" material.

Hiro couldn't "save" Charlie when he went back in time because she revealed that she had a brain tumor or something like that. So it wasn't so much that he couldn't prevent Sylar from killing her, it was that she had an incurable terminal illness and was going to die sooner than later anyway. She said this in the episode where he tried to take her away from town.
As for the comic stating the "save the cheerleader" ploy didn't go as planned, it could be that the act of saving Claire created a brand new series of events that altered the future Hiro knew, a new future with the same result that gave Hiro X many more events to manipulate in order to try and bring about the saving of New York.
Basically, maybe Hiro realizes that no matter how many changes he makes, the timelines will keep branching while still coming back to a single end result: the destruction of New York. -
Yeah, I'm super late to this talkback, but Monday nights I watch 24 (which isn't as good as Heroes right now, BTW), and I rely on the internets for episode catch-up needs, so I don't get to see Heroes until Tuesday nights (right before the Shield! TV is good right now...). Anyway, we got a slight taste of what a Sylar Vs. Peter fight will be like... I just KNOW there will have to be a major throw-down in the season finale. It would be awesome if Heroes did what Lost does for its finales and gave us 2 hours.
So, I haven't seen the previews for next week, but I see people saying that we might get a "Days of Future Past" type episode? That would be phenomenal, I would love to see how Future Hiro's adventures in time and alternate timeline played out. -
I find it really cool that two of my favorite shows, Lost and Heroes, both have/are featuring characters with these names and that "saving Charlie" has been a plotline in both of them. I love it.

There was even one guy who said he's never gonna read spoilers again, making a big point on how much more enjoyable to not know, I figured his post would be safe, and then he went on to list a spoiler. What possible joy can you receive from knowing the surprises in an episode before you see it anyway? Jeez. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

With the world apparently remembering Sylar, is Linderman's plan to get the rest of the world hunting down the rest of the "gifted" people for him? There has to be some explaination for the motive of the "attack" for people to get behind anything. I still say Linderman has entirely given up on any idea of a greater good and does everything for himself alone, so I don't buy his motive as being the same as the motive behind Watchmen.

I read the TBs almost daily, but have only contributed once before. Usually people discuss the same thoughts I have before I can post them, but I like to chime in where I can.
I also think Isaac's role in the events to come will be large, even without him there physically. I think the way he was "crucified" on the floor was an intentional Christ metaphor, where he accepted his fate because he knew, via his visions, that his death was necessary for the ultimate good. Somehow I think Sylar will catch on, and his quest to change the future will rub heavily against Hiro's efforts to alter the past. -

Okay this is really weird. I am a teacher and I usually get on this tb during my planning period. Well the kids have guidance today so another teacher comes in and teaches so I am on the computer. They are doing a career day thing and the teacher asks "who likes to take a part watches and to see how things work?" I automatically got a chill and when I turned around this shady kid in the class was raising his hand. Really weird. Sylar is in my class at age nine. Maybe Hiro will travel back in time and kill Sylar when he was nine and in my class then i could be on television. (okay the last part was dumb but the rest was true, weird).

I'm not so sure that it was to be a "crucifixion" per se. Isaac was on the floor, and the arms and legs are good places to stab things to pin him down and cuase pain without killing him right away. There's also an inteview with (actor who plays Isaac) over at TV Guide and he says that they intentionally had his legs apart instead of together to avoid being too much like the image everyone has of the crucifixion of Jesus.

I think everyone needs to calm down and back up a second. There has been *nothing* to indicate that Linderman is ACTIVELY causing the 'bomb' to go off (a la Adrian Veidt). What I understood is that Linderman is *aware* of the explosion but is not trying to stop it because he can see (via Isaac's paintings) its results. While I may be proven incorrect in the future (what exactly does Micah need to fix?), there is nothing so far that indicates that Linderman created Ted and Peter and orchestrated Ted's escape so that everything happens in NYC at the same time -- or that Linderman even knows how the 'bomb' is going to go off.

Seeing as Hiro referenced an X-men issue, either Kring is blatantly lying or someone else involved in the show has read comics and researched comics enough to give props. Shocking as it may seem, Kring isn't the only person invovled with the show, and if something is pitched to him that is similar to a work he doesn't know, the odds are he won't be able to give it credit.

If Linderman is the ultimate controller of the paper co., it wouldn't seem that he cares at all for his own kind, to the point where he regularly orders them executed.
It seems to already have been established that the world will know Sylar blew up New York. If that is the case, it is pretty hard to pin that on Saddam's corpse, as much as some may want to. -
repligin was indeed a Talkbacker. I myself do not recall having encountered him on the TB's but apparently he talked a lot about time travel. As if he had personal experience. He may or may not have had some connection with "John Titor." He's still around, by the way. Again I'm not completely sure about him as I've never actually come across his posts - - only heard about him third-hand. Now the repligin' weekend I mentioned happened a few months ago - - it did not involve flaming. Some inventive Talkbackers whom I will not name (as they themselves never got banned over this) discovered that by going to old talkbacks and posting multiple times they could "resurrect" them. That is, said Talkbacks would reappear in the "Top Talkbacks" box in the upper right hand corner. Much hilarity ensued. Many very funny old Talkbacks were discovered by new young posters who had no idea what AICN used to be like. Of course the ax ultimately fell, (Harry actually seemed to be enjoying it, but Moriarty who was in the UK at the time reportedly blew his stack when he found out about it.) Again the TBers who really started it went unpunished, but those who kept at it long after it ceased being funny were banned. these include Dorothy's Taint and 5and5makes12. Both of whom I found to be so sublime in their anarchy that I canonised them as Saints by my authority as Pope of the Discordian Church. (This so-and-so calling himself "Dorothy's Taint Again" is *nothing* like the original who was very clever. I can see why you think BSB is behind that) They both were banned as was I in my previous incarnation. (Who should be obvious) During that fun and games either 5and5 or Dorothy coined the term repligin' - AS A VERB - to indicate the "time travel" antics we were indulging in. Alles klar?

The two breif glimpses we get at Isaac's last comic when he sends it off with the messenger. One is (surprise) Hiro using his sword, and the other, stranger one is a close up of a hand jabbing a syringe into an arm. Umm. What? I don't think it means Sylar picked up Mr E-Sock's heroin addiction, because I would believe if he picked up that much of a personality trait, he'd be able to draw a little better, too. Who knows though, maybe Ando's diabetic and it's just a worthless sketch!

...it was strongly implied on Monday's episode that she is also an ubermensch. If so what are her powers? The ability to make people eat? (Mangia! Mangia! you're all skin and bones!) Seriously though here is a theory...Claude's answer to Peter when his power mimicry was revealed "Oh, You're one of *those*" plus Mother Petrelli's comment to Nathan "I knew before *you did*" ...lead me to suggest that Mama has the same powers as Peter, i.e. power mimicry and empathy. Perhaps SHE will be "the Bomb?"

1. I believe in the comics it said something about one of the parents had to have powers for the children to have powers. I think it's apparently obvious that mama "fratelli/patrelli" has the powers, and I agree with those that believe it is Banshee like powers.
2. I think Mohinder has a power, and I think his sister might be alive still, might be why their father was so obssessed with tracking down people with powers.
3. I think Sylar at somepoint in one of the possibility futures kills the shape changing chick. Also remember how Sylar is obsessed with being "Special". In the preview for next weeks episode it shows Nathan Patrelli with Claire, and he says something like "I'm the most special person there is" I think that could be Sylar. What do you think?
