Rat Race, only with a bigger cast and actually entertaining? Wait, that was Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. So what the hell is this?
-
how can you start to get an audience when you plane a break at the begining of the shows run. its farking rediculous. and some exec is playing poiltics. the same happened to kitchen confidential .
if you're gonna have a new show let it run uniterupted.
you are entirely way too predictable fox. -
It does have some intrigue about it. I just that the hiatus doesn't kill the momentum.
-
Is damn hot. Especially as Illyria on Angel.
-
this show tonight. It rocks. DAMN fucking Monday is stacked with shit to watch; my DVR can't handle it!
-
and holy shit, 3 episodes in and i'm addicted - this show rocks! just wanted to say that.
-
I saw they are quoting this site in the previews of this show on Fox.
-
This show has been a pleasant suprise. I am disappointed in the hiatus though. Seems like a really retarded thing to do. You get a show going and gaining momentum and viewers and then you take it off the air for a month or two. Just makes no sense.
-
Screw you Fox - 6 episodes and then what... coming back in mid-July?!
-
With some nifty Matrix Reloaded-esque effects (camera zipping under trucks, through windscreens etc). How's it fairing in the ratings?
-
Their nice folks, but they got the Shannon and Boon vibe. Not the sibling thing. But the their stories gone about as far as it can go thing.
-
and AA is yummy. But this damn "planned hiatus" is annoying.
-
Love the show - damn this interuption.
-
I mean, dont expect the same drama as The Shield or NYPD or something like that...just take it for what it is....a cool cast, good car chases...very reminiscent of alot of the action shows we watched in the 80's
-
...it seems like they're always driving down the same exact highway everytime they bust out into a chase/race scene. Otherwise, this is a textbook example of Dumb Fun.
-
The writing, direction and acting blows.
Do NOT watch this show. Let it die. -
The premiere of "Drive" drew only a 3.7/6 for FOX. the episode on monday scored a 3.5/6. extremely poor performance, even for a premier. this show definitely won't last with those numbers and fox's track record.
-
but if they were as dismal as Sundays premiere, then watch Fox burn through the rest of the eps ( probably 12 in all ) as summer filler before their early Fall schedule. I'm sure Prison Break will be back by mid August. Minear just can't catch a break.
-
That will be cancelled because it didn't do American Idol ratings right out of the gate..
Fillion, Torres, Minear, and everyone else associated with Joss keep going back to FOX. It's like the battered wife syndrome.
-
They only made 13 episodes, why not just air the remaining ones after. Breaking things up like this does lose viewers because they assume it is cancelled, or can't keep up with when it's returning. And it just gives the networks more reason to not bring it back. Which ever executive came up with using the word "hiatus" over "cancelled" must be very fucking successful.
-
I'm liking what I've seen so far, but the hiatus sounds like a mistake.
-
Minear just plain rules.
-
Fillion is only listed as six of seven because he was not cast in the original pilot.
Also, they've only filmed six episodes (not counting the pilot) but have been greenlit for 13. The break is to finish filming and editing. -
As John Cleese once said in some filler between sketches on Flying Circus, where he was playing a network employee, "I'd like to get into Programming, but unfortunately I have a degree."
-
She was hot as Winifred, hotter as Kelly Payton and hottest as Illyria. "I wish to do more violence" is one of the coolest phrases ever. She totally rules and it's cool that she is with Captain Cool Nathan Fillion in Drive.
-
I just have a bad feeling Fox will cancel the show at just about the time I am getting into it. Other than 24 this type of action/adventure show has never been Fox's forte.
-
funniest thing i've read in ages.
-
He is the only reason I am watching this show. It is a cool, dumb, show, but I have better things to do with my time. The break is a foolish thing to do. I am willing to bet that when it comes back it will be on a new day and during a new time slot. Then it will constantly change days and times and then it will be canceled. Bastards! I need my Fillion fix!
-
You mean even though they haven't finished filming the episodes, they're not going to go ahead and show them anyway? Boy those people at Fox are true assholes!
Get your heads out of your asses, people! The show will be back. -
It's great, I'm liking it, but you KNOW it's getting cancelled with low ratings, mid season, on FOX and being pulled after six episodes--three of which aired the first week before most people even knew it was on. I wished Amy Acker was a regular so she'd have more screen time with Fillion, but I guess now it doesn't matter. SHIT!
-
was just posted on www.freezedriedmovies.com. good to know Herc isn't the only webnerd who likes it :)
-
It doesn't say that anywhere because it hasn't been cancelled. As of right now 13 (with the first 6 already filmed and airing) episodes will be done. Perhaps if more people watch it, it'll stay on but don't start crying cancellation now.
The hiatus was planned before the premiere episodes aired as I read about it then. -
Am I watching Smallville or Enterprise?
-
Appomattox Court House - NOT - Appomattox, Virginia. Are you smarter than a 5th grader?????
-
...during sweeps. No, it's not a great sign. Yeah, given the way TV ratings work, it's to be expected. And as someone who'd like to see both Fillion and Acker catch a break I have the feeling this isn't the one.
-
how the hell can it sustain any sort of storyline heading into a second season? i mean, honestly?
also, Acker is definitely hot...a friend of mine went to high schcool with both her and the black dude from Dazed and Confused...needless to say, i was insanely jealous when i learned of this. -
I assume their lack of exposure this week means a ton of minutes next episode.
-
if the clues were more engaging for the viewer, and not easily answered after a plot nudge or two.
-
Not completely a bad ass. A bad ass with a soft chewy center. ;) I enjoyed it. The wife of the army guy needs to bitch slapped. Blondie with the mama can do it. When you marry a military man you are joining the military too.
-
i've been a fan of the first few hours but hour four was absolute shit. the dialogue was awful and that "god told me..." subplot made me want to puke. it was a shitty television writing clinic tonight on fox. and to be followed up by a great heroes...
-
that is all.
-
Tim Minear's site lists the show was picked up for an additional 12 episodes after seeing the pilot. That means at least 13 episodes this season. Read more info at: http://www.timminear.net/archives/drive/000131.html

Saw "Drive" for the first time tonight and basically enjoyed it, but lost interest by the end. I had some serious reservations about its content and setting, I guess. Amy Acker, Nathan Filion, et al I enjoyed. I was a fan of "Firefly," so I recognized "Drive"'s Minear-based palette. The punchy dialogue and sideline character moments were very much in effect, which was cool.
But a long distance race? I realize I've only watched one episode, so maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but this is a very silly 1970s plot device. BJ and the Bear, anyone? Smokey and the Bandit? These films kept popping into my mind as I watched Nathan Filion do his thing. I realize Tim Minear's a creative guy who's tried hard to put together a long-term show, so I give him lots of credit. "Drive" could possibly be his first success, but I'm not sure I'll be watching it. Just didn't do much for me. -
Mr. Holmes and his idiot brother meeting a fiery death.
-
So word from an assistant I know at Fox network is that "Drive" is done after 6, was actually canned after the "3 hour, 2 night event" pulled in only about 6 million....further confirmed that Zoic, the VFX house of Buffyverse fame doing all those seamless car shots, is laying off their "Drive" crew after #6 completes....No official announcement yet since they're going into sweeps....reason was cost...eps are $2.5 million each and the pilot was extensively reshot when they brought in Fillion to replace original lead....rumor was pilot hit $11 million....
-
Have to say this episode left me a bit cold after the first 3. The woman hearing voices from God DIES, and the other chick just decides to hitch a ride to stay in the race? Come on. And yeah, if I hear 'Homes' one more time, I'm going to scream. Nothing clicked, although PsuedoVato ordering a latte w/no foam was nice touch. But otherwise, I was quite bored everytime Fillion wasn't on screen, which doesn't bode well for the development of the other characters. I dunno. I'm still with it, but it was a bit of a misfire for me.
-
because it really stinks.
-
How do I know? They ran the first two episodes on a Sunday night, and I didn't even hear about it until I read it here - on Monday. So, in it's regular Monday timeslot, most people have already missed two episodes and have no reason to jump into the middle of a mini-series. And NO scheduled reruns of those first episodes seals the case. They wanted this dead from the start.
-
large juggs deficiancy disorder.
-
Haven't seen "Drive" but I understand the emotions a well received and entertaining but apparently doomed series can inspire. *** I feel exactly the same way about "Raines". NBC says Friday's episode is the "season finale", network-speak for "We didn't launch it in the Fall or January, buried it between Sweeps periods, burned off everything we paid for and don't hold your breath waiting for a DVD, so don't blink or you missed it." Great show, unique premise, intelligent writing, terrific cast (Goldblum, Sullivan, Park, Craven, Stowe, etc.) The finale is titled "Closure" so maybe he tells his counselor he hallucinates the ghost s of murder victims who nag him to solve their crimes and she gets him suspended and they work through his issues over his dead partner and he becomes the detective novelist he came to California to be, the end. Or they leave it hanging in case it doesn't get canceled and we just have to assume that's what happened eventually, since it's the only resolution to the premise that works. Find the one armed man, "Fugitive's" over. Makes "Raines" sane, show's over. (Actually they could turn it into "Murder, He Wrote" about a crazy, delusional ex-cop mystery writer who solves crimes. With this cast, I'd still watch that.) And yes, Nicole Sullivan (Hot Properties) with lip-gloss and Linda Park (Enterprise) in a cop uniform are hot.

Avon Barksdales sister!!!!
-
This show is terrible. I mean, it's a fucking stinker.
-
And not only was she super hot (had EVERY straight dude on set including me wrapped around her finger)but she was super sweet, incredibly committed to her performance and fucking FEARLESS. I'm not sure if she's at a place careerwise where she just gets offered stuff like this, and if she isn't she should be, but it's damn good seeing her on TV again. Although for the record, I think the army [guy's] girl is utterly effable. I feel physical pain staring at her... *bites heel of his palm*
-
They have a plan and it makes some business sense..(ABC is doing as well) -- get a cult following for a show 6-8 episodes in - get a few million viewers that love it - can it - then release it on DVD with the 5-7 missing episodes.. Fox made $50 million+ dollars on Firefly sales of a series they did not give any respect.. Drive will end up possibly in the same situation.. (Daybreak, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Point Pleasant, etc)..
-
people that say a show sucks and then say they never watched it and saw a commercial and actually recognized a certain name "minnear" and decided that based on that the show sucks...get a life....this show rocks, and the premise is not stupid, its unoriginal given all the racing for money shows and movies nowadays, ala bullrun, redline, etc...but the cast is solid and the story is interesting....i actually WATCH a show before passing judgement on it....besides its dumb mofos like u that prob like "doctor who cares"
-
i laughed when the "god told me i was going to win the race" chick got crushed...didnt need katrina BS anyhow...just goes to prove, if u cheat u die, hahahahah
-
I hate that this show was cancelled
"Drive has been impounded.
Multiple sources confirm that Fox has axed the Tim Minear creation after less than three weeks on the air. I'll go out on a limb and say the show's crappy ratings were to blame. House encores will take over its Monday/8 pm time slot.
There is one piece of good news: I'm hearing the final two unaired Drive eps may get burned off on consecutive Fridays in May."
