    Ratings for last week

    by koozyk

The premiere of "Drive" drew only a 3.7/6 for FOX. the episode on monday scored a 3.5/6. extremely poor performance, even for a premier. this show definitely won't last with those numbers and fox's track record.

Don't know what last week Mondays ratings were,

    by skimn

but if they were as dismal as Sundays premiere, then watch Fox burn through the rest of the eps ( probably 12 in all ) as summer filler before their early Fall schedule. I'm sure Prison Break will be back by mid August. Minear just can't catch a break.

    by danielkurland

They only made 13 episodes, why not just air the remaining ones after. Breaking things up like this does lose viewers because they assume it is cancelled, or can't keep up with when it's returning. And it just gives the networks more reason to not bring it back. Which ever executive came up with using the word "hiatus" over "cancelled" must be very fucking successful.

Fillion is only listed as six of seven because he was not cast in the original pilot.

Also, they've only filmed six episodes (not counting the pilot) but have been greenlit for 13. The break is to finish filming and editing.

    by drath

It's great, I'm liking it, but you KNOW it's getting cancelled with low ratings, mid season, on FOX and being pulled after six episodes--three of which aired the first week before most people even knew it was on. I wished Amy Acker was a regular so she'd have more screen time with Fillion, but I guess now it doesn't matter. SHIT!

It doesn't say that anywhere because it hasn't been cancelled. As of right now 13 (with the first 6 already filmed and airing) episodes will be done. Perhaps if more people watch it, it'll stay on but don't start crying cancellation now.

The hiatus was planned before the premiere episodes aired as I read about it then.

    Drive Out

    by cobbio

Saw "Drive" for the first time tonight and basically enjoyed it, but lost interest by the end. I had some serious reservations about its content and setting, I guess. Amy Acker, Nathan Filion, et al I enjoyed. I was a fan of "Firefly," so I recognized "Drive"'s Minear-based palette. The punchy dialogue and sideline character moments were very much in effect, which was cool.
But a long distance race? I realize I've only watched one episode, so maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but this is a very silly 1970s plot device. BJ and the Bear, anyone? Smokey and the Bandit? These films kept popping into my mind as I watched Nathan Filion do his thing. I realize Tim Minear's a creative guy who's tried hard to put together a long-term show, so I give him lots of credit. "Drive" could possibly be his first success, but I'm not sure I'll be watching it. Just didn't do much for me.

    by lukestarkiller

So word from an assistant I know at Fox network is that "Drive" is done after 6, was actually canned after the "3 hour, 2 night event" pulled in only about 6 million....further confirmed that Zoic, the VFX house of Buffyverse fame doing all those seamless car shots, is laying off their "Drive" crew after #6 completes....No official announcement yet since they're going into sweeps....reason was cost...eps are $2.5 million each and the pilot was extensively reshot when they brought in Fillion to replace original lead....rumor was pilot hit $11 million....

    by catvutt

Have to say this episode left me a bit cold after the first 3. The woman hearing voices from God DIES, and the other chick just decides to hitch a ride to stay in the race? Come on. And yeah, if I hear 'Homes' one more time, I'm going to scream. Nothing clicked, although PsuedoVato ordering a latte w/no foam was nice touch. But otherwise, I was quite bored everytime Fillion wasn't on screen, which doesn't bode well for the development of the other characters. I dunno. I'm still with it, but it was a bit of a misfire for me.

    by mbeemer

How do I know? They ran the first two episodes on a Sunday night, and I didn't even hear about it until I read it here - on Monday. So, in it's regular Monday timeslot, most people have already missed two episodes and have no reason to jump into the middle of a mini-series. And NO scheduled reruns of those first episodes seals the case. They wanted this dead from the start.

    by napoleon park

Haven't seen "Drive" but I understand the emotions a well received and entertaining but apparently doomed series can inspire. *** I feel exactly the same way about "Raines". NBC says Friday's episode is the "season finale", network-speak for "We didn't launch it in the Fall or January, buried it between Sweeps periods, burned off everything we paid for and don't hold your breath waiting for a DVD, so don't blink or you missed it." Great show, unique premise, intelligent writing, terrific cast (Goldblum, Sullivan, Park, Craven, Stowe, etc.) The finale is titled "Closure" so maybe he tells his counselor he hallucinates the ghost s of murder victims who nag him to solve their crimes and she gets him suspended and they work through his issues over his dead partner and he becomes the detective novelist he came to California to be, the end. Or they leave it hanging in case it doesn't get canceled and we just have to assume that's what happened eventually, since it's the only resolution to the premise that works. Find the one armed man, "Fugitive's" over. Makes "Raines" sane, show's over. (Actually they could turn it into "Murder, He Wrote" about a crazy, delusional ex-cop mystery writer who solves crimes. With this cast, I'd still watch that.) And yes, Nicole Sullivan (Hot Properties) with lip-gloss and Linda Park (Enterprise) in a cop uniform are hot.

They have a plan and it makes some business sense..(ABC is doing as well) -- get a cult following for a show 6-8 episodes in - get a few million viewers that love it - can it - then release it on DVD with the 5-7 missing episodes.. Fox made $50 million+ dollars on Firefly sales of a series they did not give any respect.. Drive will end up possibly in the same situation.. (Daybreak, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Point Pleasant, etc)..

    "Drive has been impounded.

Multiple sources confirm that Fox has axed the Tim Minear creation after less than three weeks on the air. I'll go out on a limb and say the show's crappy ratings were to blame. House encores will take over its Monday/8 pm time slot.

There is one piece of good news: I'm hearing the final two unaired Drive eps may get burned off on consecutive Fridays in May."
