Will Lena Headey A Good Sarah Connor Make??

Published at:  Apr 16, 2007 11:37:58 AM CDT

Merrick here...

Terminators.ch has posted an image of Lena Headey and Thomas Dekker (playing Sarah and John Connor) as they appear in the upcoming SARAH CONNER CHRONICLES TV series.

I’ve reposted the image below, but please keep in mind it originates from this location.

While I’ve heard some resoundingly negative comments regarding the pilot script for this series, as a Geek I really want sa TERMINATOR-themed TV series to work & am surprised by how “right” Heady and Dekker appear in this photo. Of course, what they look like & how adequately they fill some pretty big shoes are two entirely different issues.

What do you think?

    by zino

Will they just ignore T3? I think they should as it will give them more of a free reign to go places with it. They can even borrow some of the ideas that made T3 better than it had any right to be (though they were still under-developed), such as the inevitability of judgement day and the relationship between John and the Terminator that would end up kiling him in the future. Arnie must make a cameo if it becomes a hit.

Headey indeed looked good in "300," but I've always been impressed by her acting pedigree. She honed her chops in several well-made and well-acted low-budget films before "300," so playing Sarah Connor can only add to her comeuppance.
I dig the serious look of the photo, the haunted connection Sarah seems to be trying to make. I really hope the makers of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" ditch the shittily conceived and executed "Terminator III" altogether and start over. It'll be cool to see what Lena Headey brings to the show.

I don't understand what the premise of this show is supposed to be. They set out to make a TV series based on the terminator franchise, and set it in a time where there are no terminators? I ASSUME and would hope it's going to be kinda like lost where it flashes back FROM the war to illustrate how sarah connor's teachings influenced john connor's war strategies and decision making. That's the only way i would be interested in this show.

Indeed .... And you just know that at some point the robots from the future will arrive! .... All this will do is further ruin the epic story created in the first two movies. The original T-800 being sent through time was the final effort of a defeated Skynet to survive ..... The T-1000 was a prototype proably sent after the original units journey had no effect on the time-line. But if they just keep coming it starts to become a farce.

    pilot script

    by danowen

Wasn't this reported on AICN a few months back? Something about a time-machine that looks like a tank and the big Pilot twist being that a main female character is actually a Terminator (SPOILER: it's..... Summer Glau). I think the only way it would work is if it's a chase movie divided into 24-parts. Imagine Prison Break S2 with 24's real-time format. Sara and John would be Michael and Linc, Terminator would be Mahone. Not sure a season would be sustained with two characters just running away constantly, so they'll need a goal for those two -- perhaps an as-yet unmentioned way to destroy Skynet/Cyberdyne. I remember hearing a major plot point in the Pilot involves a leap forward in time from the mid-90s to 2007/8 (but that wouldn't make sense because the TV show would be post-Judgment Day and there'd be two John Connors.) Ahh heck! The premise isn't going to make any sense if they don't ignore T3 -- so who knows what they'll do... but it's gonna piss fans off I can tell that already! :-)

    by cedar_room

apart from the "talk to the hand" line which came perilously close to ruining the whole film, I particularly liked the ending and the sheer inevitability of judgement day - that all that happened before was all pointless because ultimately the future cannot be changed. Lena Headey is fooking georgous but honestly can't see what is going to happen for a whole series here. Don't the two of them just hide out in Mexico with the weapons people until she dies of cancer???

is the Starman TV series. Anyone remember that? Based on the Jeff Bridges movie... John Carpenter's Starman. Robert Hays plays an alien which has taken on the identity of a deceased photographer, finds his son - who was conceived in the movie - and they set out in search of the mother, helping people along the way while dodging the FBI or whatever. Basically another family version of The Fugitive.

They simply cannot do it without disregarding T3

    by performingmonkey

There's no way that the John Connor in T3 had had extra Terminator adventures between the movies. As he said, Sarah got cancer shortly after the events of T2 (now htf are they gonna work THAT into the series without limiting things??) but she hung on 'till whatever the date was, August 12, 1997 or something, just to see that Judgement Day didn't happen, then she died. That's another thing, if they set this series in the present day that already takes it out of the movie timeline and means it isn't part of the franchise.

How exactly was it "a great film"? It had cringeworthy nudge-nudge wink-wink moments like the stripper in leathers that Arnie gets his clothes from (once more walking naked into a crowded bar, hadn't seen that before), the sunglasses GOOD GOD MAN, THE FUCKING SUNGLASSES!!!!! It also had a really rubbish baddie, she could melt and meld like a T1000, but she was also solid underneath, but to varying degrees depending on what suited the particular scene. She was also a shit actress. John Connor just happens to bump into some girl he once got off with in the whole of his wanderings of America. The great and slimy character of the Dr became a one note joke, who was just there to swoon when seeing the terminator. Most of the action scenes seemed to be direct lifts from T2. Sarah Connor was completely omitted. Are you fucking kidding, this was her story from the start, and then to just have her story capped off with a couple of lines of exposition is just bullshit. As someone mentioned the "talk to the hand bit". FUCK OFF, that was just shit. At the end, they're in that old bunker and some army dudes call up and say who's this, he say "It's John Connor" as if well all right then, all our years of army experience, we're in a super bunker, you're in what looks like Dr No's lair, and you're a snot-nosed kid but we'll listen to you and you can become our future leader. Bullshit, all of it bullshit. You obviously never grew up watching the first movie over and over.

    by kai_mah'gra

......to be playing an older teen John Connor's mother? I mean in that picture she even looks way younger than Linda Hamilton did in T2, and John Connor was supposed to be 10 or 12 year old in that movie. WTF? What's with all this de-aging crap that Movies like Supercrap Returns and now this want to do to the main characters. An actress who would make a believable Sarah Connors (one that had John as a youngish woman, but had still been through enough with all the terminators and stuff, for her age to show through) would be in her late 30's to early 40's; like a Famke Janssen, or even a Michelle Forbes; with the appropriate follicular adjustment. Unless of coure they're trying to imply that Sarah Connors got knocked up as a 10 year old or something - kinda like Lois Lane in SuperMeh Returns. Oh, and T3 sucked giant Yak balls - on there can be no debate. Anything that makes us forget it ever happened is a very good thing.

    Reality check.

    by christopher3

T3 was not a great film. Nor was T2, or the first Terminator. (Horrors!) The second one was a bloated special effects reel with a memorable villain and some truly horrible speechifying of the sort only James Cameron and David Goyer are capable of. The third one was actually closer to the junky '80s B-movie spirit of the original than the overwrough T2, and I loved the full-circle ending. Since the entire series revolves around the paradoxes of time travel, there really isn't a need to treat any "Terminator" movie or comic as canon. I'm looking forward to the series. No doubt it will go in a different direction than what came before, but that's a good thing IMO.

"Aliens." Don't get me wrong, Cameron is capable of great things, but I found T2 overlong and repetitive compared to the first and third installments. The one great thing about T2 was the T1000, who I felt was the only terminator to actually embody the threat and menace inherent in the concept of an unstoppable killing machine. Unlike Robert Patrick, neither Arnold nor Lokken were particularly scary as bad guys.

    Christopher3

    by kwisatzhaderach

Perhaps the first person in the world to suggest that Terminator 2 isn't a great film. Compared to Terminator 3 and the soulless corporate crap summer movies of today Terminator 2 is like Lawrence of Arabia. There's more thrilling filmmaking in the canal chase in T2 than there is in the whole of Terminator 3.

    I might watch the series..

    by ironmuskrat

for a few episodes just to see how much of the three Terminator movies is ignored in order to develop a plot for the TV series. If John Connor in the third movie is to be believe, Sarah Connor didn't do much besides hide out along the border of Mexico with John until she finally died of cancer. John could have been lying, but why would he? Not to worry I guess, I am sure the writers can come up with a time traveling solution to liven things up that will make perfect sense.

    Knockoff of THE FUGITIVE

    by eyeofpolyphemus

Or THE INCREDIBLE HULK. Every week a new town, pursued by a Terminator, but finding the time to help some random person in need while they are at it. Sounds like bubblegum television rather than anything monumental. will it add anything to the mythology?

Danielle Fishel a good Sarah Connor would make.

Sigh... haven't seen Poontanga since she played a fat bitch on a couple episode of that old Nikki Cox show. (Not the one with the muppet, the other one before the one she just got fired from). I IMDb'd Danielle Fishel and she's had a few roles since, split between film, Tv, animation voice work and video game voice work. Someone give that sexy woman a sit-com. Ot at least an audition.

the previous post deleted everything after the tinyurl link. As I was saying, I haven't seen Pontanga since she played a chubby biotch on an episode of that Nikki Cox series (Not the one with the muppet, the one before the one she just got fired from). I IMDb'd Danielle Fishel and apparentl she's done a little work on Tv and in low budget film and voice work for animation and video games since then. she's a funny, sexy woman, and someone ought to give her a sit-com (or at least an audition or some cunnilingus.)

An oral sex reference is out of line in a thread about an actress named Headley? Can you imagine how many auditions that name got her?

    The only problem with T2...

    by slone13

...(aside from Furlong's painful acting) was the shitty "the future is open" VO from Sarah Connor with the final shot of the highway at night. The movie should have ended with the shot of Arnold's Terminator-cam shutting off as it hit the molten "lava". The "thumbs up" he gives was kind of gay, too, but I can live with it.

I like T3 but it should have been a hard R

    by performingmonkey

When you watch it it feels so pussified compared with Cameron's flicks. I'm not sure if it actually got an R, I think it might have. But there doesn't feel like any real danger or anything. It was hiring Mostow that was the mistake. What had he done before that - the shitty U-571. And just LOOK at the crap John D Brancato and Michael Ferris have written, yet they get to pen T3 and T4. WHYYYYYY???????? It's like hiring Paul W.S. Anderson to handle two of the most beloved franchises ever. Get some fucking TALENT involved.

    by mutant leader

. . .this is set in the period between the first and second movies. And that's good, cause if
it were to ignore T3 I wouldn't watch it.
