Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Looks like little miss sunshine herself, Abigail Breslin, is set to star in NIM'S ISLAND alongside Jodie Foster.

The flick is based on a kid's book by Wendy Orr and Kerry Millard and Walden Media has picked it up. They've also set Ann Peacock (THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE) to adapt it, with Jennifer Flackett and Mark Levin (LITTLE MANHATTAN) directing.

The story follows a young girl who accompanies her father, a scientist, to an island in the South Pacific. The dad gets lost at sea and the girl somehow communicated, electronically, with a person she imagines to be a character from a book. I'm assuming Foster is the person Breslin is communicating with.
