Will you come home for... THANKSGIVING? Eli Roth's GRINDHOUSE trailer online!!
SPOILER ALERT !!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I won't complain. I had to trade off seeing GRINDHOUSE two days ago at the Austin premiere to be in Louisiana for my final visit to the set of THE MIST. It's not a bad trade-off, but goddamnit I want to see this movie so bad. And you don't know what it's like to hear Harry so happy that he got to see it and I didn't. It's torture.
If you're like me, yearning to see this thing, then you need to head over to IGN.
CLICK HERE TO VISIT IGN'S EXCLUSIVE GRINDHOUSE TRAILER PAGE!
They have the entire faux trailer for Eli Roth's THANKSGIVING, a fantastic trailer. But stay tuned at the end... they also have a few GRINDHOUSE clips, including looks at the trailers from Rob Zombie and Edgar Wright. Wright's trailer is supposed to be amazing and Zombie's looks really fun. Here are some stills that filmick got from Edgar's trailer... that first image freaks me the fuck out. I can't wait to see the full thing!

ROTH BETTER MAKE THAT FUCKING MOVIE!
-
I hope that someday we can view the uncut version ... perhaps on dvd?
-
You know, normal people who don't post talkbacks at 3 in the morning and haven't read fourteen different drafts of the script. For fuck's sake.
-
but I think it kinda spoils a bit of the fun of waiting for the "Grindhouse" experience.

"ITS THE TREES!!!"
-
I jist cant wrett tooo seee thossss fucker on these scresesnn. I am naked and I am hard.
-
The humorous high point of the whole enterprise (beating out the Fu Manchu bit). Perfect build, perfect punchline. Roth's trailer's pretty good too, but even in whatever -- 90 seconds? -- he managed to throw in a couple moments that reminded me why I can't stand his feature work. Maybe 60 seconds is my max tolerance level for his stuff... I've got passes to see this again this week. Trying to figure out if I can show up 85 minutes in to miss PLANET TERROR but catch the trailers and DEATH PROOF again...
-
man, I would love to see a feature version of thanksgiving. Werewolf women looks rad too!!
-
Just looking at those pictures are just too disturbing...
but I looked over and saw Kurt Russell laughing hard, so I guess it was ok. -
Genius, cant wait for Wrights trailer, looks proper Giallo sev's style
-
really i mean it.
-
Seriously.
-
Hahahahaha!
-
As Fu Man Chu.
-
Rob Zombie's trailer looks intriguing, though. Nic Cage reminds me of Viscontis Mad King of Bavaria, "Ludwig". Great stuff.
-
Can't wait for this to be released, it'll be split, which will suck for it would be such a great introduction for us Dutchies to a Grinhouse phenomenon but hey, I will see it cut as well. This trailer was so cool. Best stuff Eli ever did so far. HAHAHA the girl jumping the trampoline and then hopsa! :D:D Hilarious.
-
nuff said, one of the true great directors
-
This film MUST be made.
-
I laughed my ass off from beginning to end. Was the killer fucking the head in that last shot? OMG he was, wasn't he? That was hysterically funny and I can't wait to see this on the big screen.
-
Playing a zombie in the Edgar Wright one?
-
That is freakin awesome. Sick and demented... but f'n awesome.
-
It doesn't sound very grindhouse to me. Either does Eli Roth, but that's an argument for another time.
-
it was ok to laugh. OK the Kurt thing may get old but dammit, it had me laughing on Friday when I read it.I want to see the SS trailer. That, even though some had said different, looks to be some great fun. Right up there with Isla and her SS movies. Good showing!
-
The first bit was just an imitation of Halloween, it was all played for laughs, and none of it was 70s exploitation. Doesn't Roth know that Grindhouse doesn't mean Troma? This is like a parody. Sure it made me smile a couple times, but a lot of the fan-made Grindhouse trailers for that SXSW contest were better than this.
-
getting a knife up her cooch. Strikes me as a tad misogynist. Poor Eli, was he ignored by the cheerleaders in high school? Boo hoo. Fuck you!
-
Thanks to the link for the Don't stills. I've got some more coming soon...
That Thanksgiving trailer was almost too accurate. -
Labor Day of the Dead!!! This Labor day, the dead will walk the Earth!!! And uh....maybe do a little grillin'out.
-
I liked the stuffed bitch at the end of Thanksgiving, that was funny..and the dude fucking the head infront of the children almost made me spit up too.I hope that will be one if they do GH2.Probally Machette and Thanksgiving.
-
Cabin Fever set a new low in the film industry and after that farce I didn't bother with Hostel, but from what I have heard/read, I didn't miss anything.
-
And I say good for him.
-
friggon view this while Im at work. this sucks. it sounds like a blast to watch. I need to find a better job where they dont have "websense" installed in all the computers..... arghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Eli Roth is trying so hard to be cool, but it comes across as trying to please Tarantino. Real ass kissing. But you people, is it really entertaining to watch fake homocide? Think about it, what's wrong with you that you enjoy watching this?
-
now I must watch slugs on repeat
-
This looks great. To those of you who think this looks "sick", or "stupid", face it, this movie is not for you in the least.
Go out and grab any early 80's slasher DVD and watch the trailer. It will look a lot like Roth's Thanksgiving, and that's the point. He obviously loves that genre and that's all that comes across in this little movie...nothing more. -
More Don't at:
http://snipurl.com/1eobf
So, Don't and Thanksgiving as the next Grind House double bill?
Smart money would be on something from Rodriguez, something else from Roth.
The Tarantino will do his Kung Fu film for Grind House 3, or Son of Son of Grind House or whatever.
Or this Grind House could bomb and there'll be no more. -
It is spelled "homicide," even if you are a cry-baby.
-
im gonna wait til friday, having to wade through 10 screens of ign's horse shit to see this thing is not worth it (im sure ill love it then though, eli you are the fucking man)
-
From all the hype about this, I expected something much more over-the-top graphic (and was dreading that). But really, most of it was just low-budget, 80s-cheap heads-cut-off stuff. Nothing to be too daunted by. Only that next-to-last shot of the "turkey" on the table pushes things. And technically, the "pilgrim" isn't, er, "being intimate" with the severed head at the end, but rather with the baked turkey that the head has been attached to. Much less traumatizing for the kids, I'm sure.
-
Looks like it was made by a horned up fratboy. Roth clearly has little regard or knowledge of the genre he's spoofing.
-
"grindhouse" enough:You don't know the 1st thing ABOUT "grindhouse".That trailer is PERFECT.So unless you're going to give us some sob story about how your mommy was a two-bit whore on pre-Giuliani 42nd street who used to short change her pimp to send you to the movies so you wouldn't have to watch her turn tricks or some other bullshit reason you're an expert on these types of films then you really shouldn't be acting as an authority.'m looking at you,Genghis von Doom.
-
If his movies were as much fun as that trailer he created I would not be so harsh but I stand by what I feel. Eli Roth is overrated. Cabin Fever and Hostel both sucked.
-
cganimation is an idiot...and a homophobe. Was "homocide" some kind of jab at the guy in HOSTEL?
-
That trailer gets better and better with each viewing. I wonder... what is wrong with me for enjoying and laughing at such sick twisted $#&*?!! Oh boy. I can't wait for Friday to see this Grindhouse thing.
-
Very funny.
-
who is wondering why outta all the trailers this one is the first one to pop up on the net???
Im curious as to edgar wrights trailer as well as the zombie one. nic cage as fu manchu. could be hilarious
-
One thing I do understand about Grindhouse is that they don't intend it to be in the Comedy section of the video store. What Roth made might as well be a trailer for Scary Movie 5.
-
Homage or Rip?
-
I laughed at some of the kills but that was pretty uninspired. The Edgar Wright trailer looked promising. The Rob Zombie one not so much.
-
The 24 minute segment "Welcome To The Grindhouse" on that same page has a TON of footage as well as more trailer clips. Looks fun. The Edgar Wright trailer has an Omen vibe to it and Zombie's is definately "borrowing" from An American Werewolf In London. It seems like all the footage is scratchy EXCEPT Death Proof. What's that all about?
-
...and that part at the end of the video where the Pilgrim (and I'm sure Eli is clever enough to call him The PilGRIM...naw, he isn't that clever...) is violating the turkey with the head stitched on to it...? Roth is the Pilgrim and the saps that pay money (most likey borrowed money from their parents or their allowance) to see his unoriginal, uninspired, uninteresting and unwatchable train wrecks of movies are the turkey. Bon Appétit!
-
Funny to see him in there. I don't know why that's funny, it just is.
-
...only because it's 30 seconds too short, dammit! Fucking brilliant!!!!!
-
Damn! I wanted to be the first one to point that out...too bad I waited awhile to watch the trailer.I'd say its use was deliberate homaging, that was a REALLY recognizable theme from the movie that only played at strategic points. I think what's more important is how well it works in this context, and I think it works pretty well, especially considering how parodic the trailer feels. I definitely wouldn't call it a rip-off, it just made me grin knowing I recognized the source.
-
I heard Jason Isaacs?
-
All the Eli Roth hate is getting old. This tralier was great, and the other two look hilarious. Stop drinking that haterade and understand that this whole Grindhouse project is supposed to be fun, not serious excercises in the cinema arts.

Isn't Shymalan making the Arbor Day horror movie next??
by lhombresiniestro
Isn't he??
-
If so, okay.
-
they look like what they are - fake movie trailers - on par with snl parodies - but wrights looks like a real movie - and disturbing - the machete trailer from what ive seen looks great though - danny trejo is always cool
-
"grindhouse" trailers?A lot of them were hilarious.Sometimes intentionally, sometimes not so much.Get a compilation DVD of 70's-80's trailers like the 42nd STREET FOREVER series.Roth's would fit right in and if you didn't know any better, you'd never know which was his.
-
Especially Rodriguez, who shoots on video.
-
In Entertainment Weekly, there was something that said that Eli Roth's trailer will be edited, mainly the part with the imapalation on the trampoline.
-
good point - which reminds me of the fact that the majority of "grindhouse" or "exploitation" movies were laughable crap - but some were brave attempts at making a very original (sometimes brutal) genre movie - so - i guess roth's trailer fits right in - but seeing a "pilgrim" fuck a turkey with a human head just feet away from a tied up kid is fucked up beyond all explanation - which i guess is the point - that scene is the definaition of "torture porn" - its all there - the torture and the porn - enjoy - id rather see the likes of "the devil's rain" or "the thing with 2 heads"
-
i'll pass. also, it's 2007. how about a silent AND grainy movie to see how far we've come?
-
Roth's would be the one with a sight gag in the last couple frames of a guy screwing a piece of poultry. You know. As though it were a comedy. (BTW, in the version that I saw Rodriguez screen at SXSW, the Pilgrim was buck naked except for his hat in that last shot. I guess they couldn't get that past the MPAA.)
-
"Son of a bitch." HAHAHA i love it...Friday can't come fast enough. Michael Biehn is awesome.
-
I'm starting to like Eli. I thought this trailer was awesome and I agree with him. We need a Thanksgiving slasher flick. Please do it Roth.

I Don't Like Eli Roth's work, but liked "Thanksgiving"
by lanemyersclassic
Roth DOES normally suck, and I think Tarantino is taking a wrong turn by hanging with him so much, but he managed to put together a decent trailer here. I hated him in Death Proof, he added nothing to the role. He does give the impression of a whiney frat boy that is really trying hard to be cool. I guess that works in some movies, as long as that character ends up with a machete up his ass. Oh, and I actually liked the voice over for "Thanksgiving." If you've seen a lot of 70's trailers, then you know some of the voice overs were very low, slow, and subdued. Not all were blasting loud in your face.
-
i love it!! total 80's and 70's cheese factor!
-
Very clever; loved the music and pretty much everything else. I believe Thanksgiving is the one holiday (with the possible exception of Easter Sunday) that hasn't yet been turned into a bloodbath; I recall that 20+ years ago, Mad Magazine did a fantastic spoof of the genre called--yep, ARBOR DAY. Every cliche, from the mother of the killer showing up at the anticlimax to the one virginal girl in the group surviving, was covered, and brilliantly so! The artwork was done by none other than "Jolly" Jack Davis, who ironically in his younger years drew for Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror, etc. And regarding the Roth and Zombie hate, my two cents: Cabin Fever was bad. (Pancakes, anyone?) Hostel was good. House of 1000 Corpses was a mess. Devil's Rejects kicked ass. End of story.
-
I still have the emotional scars from Roadhouse.....
-
Grindhouse doesn't = Troma? Are you fucking serious? Troma is like the last living example of what grindhouse cinema was all about.
-
I admit that you're right. Troma is the last vestige of American exploitation cinema. But I still don't think Eli Roth's slasher spoof is in the same spirit as Death Proof, Planet Terror and Machette.
-
...but Kurt Russell was laughing like hell, so I KNOW it was okay!!!
-
MACHETE,PLANET TERROR & DEATH PROOF aren't even in the same spirit as EACH OTHER!Give up already. We all know you don't know what the hell you're talking about already.
-
I want some Tofurkey
-
til I'm dead. Somewhere, Booger weeps.
-
wow lol nothin is sacred anymore is it? its only a matter of time that someone will go as far to put f@ckin JESUS as some slasher who offs people when they confess...
-
is eli
-
Going to be attached to Grindhouse on Friday or is it going to be a edited version, I am confused??? I really hope that is the one that I am going to see in a packed theatre full of stoners! That is going to be HIGH-LARIOUS, Friday cant' CUM soon enough!!!
-
i'll be leaving my body for "Thanskgiving"... either that or escaping into the bathroom to shoot heroin into my eyeballs.
dumb-shit hack/fuck... -
Thanksgiving is designed to be as gross-out funny as possible and is a parody. Death Proof are not designed to be as funny as possible and are not parodies. How easy it must be to just dismiss everyone who disagrees with you as not knowing what they're talking about. Saves you from having to actually explain why you're right and they're wrong.
-
What IGN posted has already been edited so that's probably what we'll be seeing on Friday.
-
Are those Weinstein fellas trying to deceive us?
I mean, you know, more than usual. -
Fuck you up your stupid ass!
-
... I dont like to think of myself as a squirt.
-
Why was DEATH PROOF the only segment you mentioned as "not designed to be funny" but refer to it in the plural("DEATH PROOF are not designed to be as funny as possible and are not parodies").It's because you WERE going to include MACHETE & PLANET TERROR as well until you realized they ARE designed to be funny.I'm not dismissing you because your opinion differs,I'm dismissing you because you really DON'T know what you're talking about.Oh...and DEATH PROOF "not funny"? Ask Kurt Russell. He was laughing pretty hard so I guess it was OK.
-
Alright, I hope Quentin has got it out of his system now and will stop making homages to bad movies and go back to making original good movies.Robert Rodriguez on the other hand is one of the defining bad filmmakers making bad films today. I don't see how he can make an homage to crappy 1970s exploitation films when he already spends his career making crappy films with 1970s level production values. (Sin City is exempt because Frank did all the heavy lifting on that project)
-
He's hit it out of the park 1 time in his career (Sin City) and he had help from Tarantino & Miller on that one. His El Mariachi movies were forgettable at best, Dusk Till Dawn was co-directed by Tarantino (it's very obvious), Sharkboy & Lava Girl was aweful (although my 5 year old loves it) and even though I like him as a person, I think he's a shitty diretor. One step away from becoming the next Tony Scott.
-
but he nailed it with that trailer. That was some awesome shit.
-
But the pronouncements of it being "so fucking cool!" and the "best movie ever." I'm sure I'll enjoy it - but it seems to be pandering to the current geek trendiness of the exploitation genre.
-
can be seen in this trailer already. Watch the scene with the cheerleader frame by frame and right before she lands on the knife there's a perfectly positioned 'frame roll' or 'edge' or whatever you want to call it over her woman parts and for the close-up when she lands on the knife there is a blue blur that also perfectly (and a little more obviously) blocks out the gore and the close-up of her 'hoo ha.' That's at the 1:18 mark a few frames in. I say this knowing that I sound like a complete perv. Oh well, sue me! I agree that this trailer along with many of the SXSW trailers are fantastic for what they set out to do. Nobody who made them took it seriously and we shouldn't either, but they're damn fun. If you didn't like Hobo With A Shotgun, Rustee Blades, Blood Brothers or Stormtroopers of the Apocalypse then you need a swift kick to the scrotum. Anyway, good day fellow talkbackers!
-
Hostel was all right. It was genuinely creepy. This is actually good.
-
This year, we're eating out.
-
you are sick.
-
What I'm saying about Rodriguez is this:You know when you watch an old Romero movie and the way it looks, the music, the acting style are all REALLY dated. You don't have to see anything more than a second to know you're watching something from the late 1970s or early 80s. I get that feeling from Rodriguez's films. The only thing is that they were made in the 1990s and 2000s and by a young guy. This isn't just some old filmmaker who never learned new tricks. 'The Warriors' actually seems like it was made more recently than 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico'.I totally believe that Quentin can take this genre and make it as an hommage that hits the nostalgia notes with an interesting modern perspective, however Rodriguez will just make another film that actually belongs completely in this genre, budget, and time period. Asking this guy to CONSCIOUSLY make a 1970s exploitation movie is like asking Mike Tyson to make an effort at seeming aggressive.
-
I thought I'd have to do more convincing. Thanks for saving me less work on a dreaded Monday! ; )
"like asking Mike Tyson to make an effort at seeming aggressive."
Awesome line. -
I used "are" not because I take Planet Terror and Machette out, but because I meant to put them in. (As they also are not going to be comedies.) But I didn't proof read. Nutz. Not that it matters. If you saw Kurt Russell laughing then I have to concede because this is gunna be a comic MASTERPIECE!!!
-
Don't tell me you REALLY think PLANET TERROR & MACHETE are to be taken seriously!A stripper with a machine gun leg...really?
-
He looks like a unibrow caveman and has too many wrinkles from fake smiling all the time, like the tool he is. Only an idiot like him would try to explain (or excuse) his B-movies as something "therapeutic" in times of war. Shut the Fuck up you moron. Your movies are plotless pieces of shit and I'm so happy they get stomped by the critics. The only reason you have a "career" is because you kiss Tarantino's prestigious ass. I hope he drops you like a steaming turd tomorrow and the world realizes how truly talentless you are, you unibrow suck ass.
