...reasonable guess. Now that I think of it, her standard delivery almost reminds me of cartoon Harley when she's not all manic. Seems like an unnecessary bit of stunt casting and potential clutter for the film, though.

The way I see it, if it was an Independent Movie ... it was probably a choice between that and doing a guest voice for "The Batman" cartoon series. That's my guess.

It really grates on me when comic books (or anything, for that matter) use such stupid names for characters. Fair enough, do it for a kids' film, but how are you supposed to take it seriously when a bad guy named The Joker just happens to find a girl called Harley Quinn to be his side-kick. Of course, I've never actually read a Batman comic so that could just be her "bad guy" name. In which case I'll just shut up.

Yet again, they go for someone most people would never consider for the role. And just because it's a surprising choice doesn't make it a great one. But then, I guess they wouldn't want a Harley Quinn performance to overshadow our beloved Joker, would they? ...But yeah, maybe it's not even for the role of Harley Quinn. But I figure it is, if this news is actually TRUE.

Just when things were looking up for DK, just when Nolan and company could do no wrong, they just had to toss this trick in. Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! As every Batman fan knows, Harley's real name is Harleen Quinzel. Still pretty out there ... but that's the skinny. & sure, I wouldn't be against SMG being Harley ... she can do a pretty good squeeky/loopy voice. Plus she's hot, so ... yeah.

Wasn't SMG originally considered for the role in the first movie? And they just recast it. So maybe she was being considered again before they decided to go with Maggie Gyllenhaal instead.

That could be an interesting bit to the story, ...in that, in her obsession with the Joker (Mr.J), she changes her name in hopes of becoming something more, to him. Seriously, that's not a bad way to go. I like it!

I do have an appreciation for this material being interpreted in a more believable way, ...so yeah, take some liberties with how she becomes Harley Quinn. With Nolan's vision, there really is some cartoon material that he should avoid. And maybe his brother is smart enough to know that, in writing the screenplay.

...this happens to be true then I actually think it's good. Whatever role it's for (personally I don't see it being Harley but then I said the same when the Heath Ledger rumour surfaced and I'm actually really into that idea now), it's about time that Gellar got herself into a decent film. And you never know, might pave the way to a Buffy film...

I was in talks with Matt McCounaghy about my independent film but he had to pull out because it would clash with the Green Arrow film. Then Charlize Theron pulled out because she would be playing Cheetarah in the new Thundercats Movie and then famed British Thesp Ross Kemp pulled out because he was cast as Billy Whizz! It happens!

Katie Holmes notwithstanding, I don't think Nolan would cast any actor who hasn't got more game. Especially now that the franchise is up and running, I don't think he would get saddled with anyone who didn't have some real thespian chops. This ain't gonna happen.

With Nolan having a closer to reality, life-like vision for Batman, ...I think they should use creative license and change her last name, assuming they are utilizing Harley Quinn in this flick. Use Harleen, though most everyone would call her Harley. Just change her last-name to Goldstein or something. I don't care... as long as it matches the style that Nolan is shooting for, ...assuming he isn't going in a new direction with the sequel. (Was I the only comic book geek who cringed at hearing "Mr. Chill" in the courtroom scene, in BATMAN BEGINS???)

...I understand that they were faithful to Batman's origin, in having "Joe Chill" be the killer of the Wayne parents. I'm just drawing a line... to better match the screenplay material to how the Batman universe is represented on screen.

Why would the feature dig up something that wasn't even based off the comics, but a spinoff of the comics? Sounds like pandering to me. Also, this would follow up the VERY HACKISH Harley from "The Batman". SMG also has the personality of a very boring rock. Not a standard rock, but a really boring one. I'm voting no on her being Harley.

Having a character based on a character from a cartoon, based on the design from a movie, based on the comics. Harley is already 3 gererations removed from the comic. The new/darker Batman story shouldn't be based on Batman The Animated Series. I agree with Ferris for Quinn if so, or even better would be Amy Pohler from SNL! She cracks me up. Was it Robin Williams that said women shouldn't be comedians because they just aren't funny? Amy is about the funniest lady I have ever seen.

I could also see her as CatChick. With the crash and burn of the Halley flick, don't expect it. SMG can be stone cold like CatChick, but not over the top like Harley.

I can actually see Sarah Michelle Geller playing Harley Quinn - the role does suit her. If she's not playing Quinn then this is a terrible idea (if true).

Physically, at least. Athletic, blonde, "cute". I don't know it she'd be able to match Arleen Sorkin's voice, but physically she's PERFECT.

As for SMG, she can just park it until X-MEN 5 gets made and she can play Husk or something. No WAY is she good enough to be Harley.

The only part suitable for Gellar would be Selina Kyle/Catwoman, but there would be better people than her to play it.Aka Ellen Page ( Hard Candy). Gellar smacks of stunt casting.

1) B:TAS was not a "cartoon" cartoon. It was sophisticated and mature compared to most other cartoons out there, and many consider this version of Batman to be the definitive one.
2) Yes, Harley Quinn originated in B:TAS, but Paul Dini himself wrote her into comics continuity. She was last seen in Arkham witnessing a Poison Ivy escape in his run on Detective Comics (#823, I believe).
3) Ever consider the possibility that SMG could play another love interest, say, Silver St. Cloud? Who says Rachael Dawes has to stay his love interest?
4) How about a Batman story harkening back to Englehart/Rogers with Silver St. Cloud and Joker Fish?
5) RIP Marshall Rogers. -

Wouldn't be a stretch, sadly though it'd be like casting Morgan Freeman as a wise old man. Dull and too obvious. Gimme someone like Eva Green or Connie Nielsen, someone I don't expect and then get her to ACT the role rather than cast the kooky mad actress and just put her in the costume.

I was pimpin' Fairuza in TB long before Ledger was even cast. She's ultra-cool and underused in Hollywood. However, I think the next Batman flick should avoid indulging in too many characters. After all, that was one of the deathstrokes of the previous films.

I like the idea of Anna Farris for Harley, but I can see SMG in the role. I do think that Gellar is better suited to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman, though. Maybe she will only appear in a cameo/teaser to set up the character for later films. Catwoman is pretty integral to the Batman mythos, in my opinion. More so than Harley Quinn. But, who knows? We'll see if any of this gets confirmed.

I think she could've pulled off a "Joker Groupie" type and I really think that type of role should be in the movie. It shouldn't be campy or tacked on but for a doctor studying the criminal mind to be a little mental herself and go head over heels for a psycho like the Joker ,is very possible and would be interesting to watch. She could start off being crazy about Batman but when he rejects her she would turn to Joker for revenge. As far as Barbara Gordon character,wasn't she like a four year old in the last movie? I just thought when they showed Gordon at home there was little kids running around.

that Harley would be in Dark Knight. IF this somewhat flimsy, seriously unsubstantiated rumour is true, then I totally trust Nolan to do the right thing no matter who's cast. SMG has made baaaaad career choices but she CAN act when using decent material. I don't see her as HQ and there's no way Nolan would be interested in Harley at this stage.
