Wanna see some snuck snaps from the set of PRINCE CASPIAN?

Published at:  Mar 25, 2007 6:54:37 PM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a gaggle of spy pics covertly taken by a mysterious tall, dark and handsome spy named codeeater from Germany. I look at these pics and I just get homesick for New Zealand.

The codeeater from Germany (translated from German to English through babelfish) says that they were shooting some long shots from the boat of the kids arriving at the beach and some close shots from behind the kids at they walked onto the shore. These could be doubles... the little girl doesn't much look like Lucy from the first movie, nor does the older guy much look like Peter.

I didn't care much for the first NARNIA film. I didn't hate it or love it. It felt very middle of the road to me, it didn't have its own identity. Sure, it had some great moments... I love the look of the pre-Narnia war torn London world, but everything in Narnia seemed to be just barely removed from all the other fantasy stuff we've seen in the last decade.

That said, I really liked the books, so I'm pulling for Prince Caspian to work a little better for me.

Here are the pics! Click on 'em to get bigger versions!

Vacation pics don't typically have 35mm motion picture cameras and a team of hair and make-up people around the kids... At least mine, didn't... Sure, we had some PAs with walkies, but what family doesn't?

...or these kids won't be kids no more. It's been, what, a year and a half since the first one? And "Prince Caspian" won't come out until next year, right? Better hurry these movies up!

BeeDub - Kids' age doesn't matter

    by dreadpirate

These books aren't like Harry Potter, Caracters (except Aslan) are rarely in more than two or three books. Although in one (The Horse and His Boy) all the kids from this movie are grown up - so taking their time would be a good thing.

Lion, Witch and a Big Frickin Closet of Fuzzy Coats...

    by fluffybunnywhiskers

was something I really tried to like when it came out, but it really did nothing for me at all. I had expectations from reading the book when I was young and I wanted something that felt a little more removed from LOTR... but it didn't even feel like a kiddy LOTR. It just felt like a movie with unremarkable sets, graphics and performances. The kids didn't really give good performances to me, even taking into consideration they're kids... and I didn't feel any character development of the oldest boy growing into a warrior at all. All in all, I bluntly felt the movie was pretty bad and unless Caspian has some incredible trailers, I will not be spending 10 bucks to see another film from this series.

    by larry of arabia

See him running down the beach flapping his umbrella to scare the birds into the Nazi planes? I know the two movies share a time frame but I didn't know that Indy landed in Narnia for a brief time.

I've seen more interesting photos taken on a tech scout. I have to agree about "Lion" - read the books a dozen times growing up, but something was missing. Not sure what - some stories just don't translate well to the screen.

totally, fella. war scenes were wicked but once you was in narnia itself it was very generic. kept getting reminded of the melendez cartoon from the 70's and i'm sure if i saw it now it'd be shit. it's probably got limited animation and some shit, so for the new narnia to remind me of dat, aint good. that said, i got a good feeling about the new one. i too remember the book, so this has more scope AND it hasnt been done B4.

should have done horse and his boy

    by staldo

That book was great. Are they going to try and shoehorn a huge, nonexistent epic battle into this one too? I predict they won't make it as far in the books as the BBC series. They might churn out Dawn Treader before no more movies are made. It's a pity too, I think a movie of The Last Battle would have the emotional impact of Aronofsky's The Fountain if done correctly.

Actually, what didn't work in the first one, for me

    by mister man

Tilda Swinton. Not sure why - probably perfect casting, but it didn't work for me. McAvoy is excellent, and children are great, but they'll age too quickly. Potter can pull off the seven films, but younger kids are more difficult - one of the boys in "Lion" grew several inches during that film (in height, yeah, yeah) alone.

Near Hahei on the west coast of the Coromandel peninsula - about two hours southwest of Auckland.

One of the most popular walks/beaches in the country - I'm sure there were plenty of gawkers around while they were filming on such a nice day.

    by staldo

The White Witch is supposed to represent how evil and unpredictable adults sometimes seem to children. When she lost her cool, she didn't lose it with enough intensity. She was hot as hell with her albino dreadlocks cave-woman look, though. She should be in King Conan if it ever gets made.
