Zabka’s Back To SWEEP THE LEG!!
Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.
I remember when we ran a link to Patton Oswalt’s hilarious ”Sweep The Leg And Wake The Gimp,” a short story homage to the majesty and power of William Zabka.
Well, now even Zabka is finally paying tribute to Zabka. Seriously. And you need to check it out:
This band that calls itself "No More Kings" wrote a song called "Sweep The Leg" based upon the film the Karate Kid.
They contacted William Zabka who played Johnny Lawrence, the villian to Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso. William asked if he could direct their music video. William managed to assemble most of the original Copra Kai and even managed to have Ralph Macchio make an appearence. The result is a very cute homage to a 1980 iconoclastic film. The tune isn't bad either.
Check it out!

first!!!
-
hey zabka and macchio both gotta eat!!!
-
and they even got mr belding in this thing. why doesnt MTV give this thing a VMA. this is pure music video genius right here!!!!!
and I always like zapka in "back to school" as well. man that guy played the greatest douchebags od the 80's. they just dont make em like that anymore..... ( a lone tear runs down my face) -
.............has been on YouTube for well over 4-5 months now.
Way to scoop this one, Harry.
The vid *is* cool, though. -
I've had this on my myspace page for at LEAST two months now.
-
Zapka is oscar nominated. That simple fact is a bountiful treasure.
-
That is all.
-
You mean I didn't read your MySpace page and post this the second you did!?! DAMN ME!!
I never said it was a scoop. Just trying to have a little fun before the weekend. Curse me for enjoying this and posting it. -
I'd never seen it before. very cool news. Don't dig the tune much but the video is ace.
-
didn't you promise us three reviews today? I get the feeling those would be better received than these random silly sites (this and the steampunk one) you seem to have stumbled across after getting into Harry's stash
-
Damn you Michael Bay
-
I saw it awhile ago and it totally floored me "put him in a bodybag Johnny" guy still is weird though
-
Hot damn that's a bad song. I mean really really horrible. What a bunch of tools. Yikes. Painful.
It's nice seeing Kove and Zabka and all but damn. -
Some truly hilarious stuff going on here. Good to see the KK gang back once more.
-
The supreme teen bastard of the 80's is back and kickin' ass!
-
should read iconic, not iconoclastic, right? i mean, karate kid wasn't really iconoclastic in any way was it?
-
AND YOU'RE THE BEST, AROUND. NOTHINGS EVER GONNA KEEP YOU DOWN.
-
I can't tell.
-
That's who that band sounds like, and blatantly so. BUT, cool video.
-
I mean, it was cool and all, but, it like, totally sucked. I would have been like rad and all for sure if it like, had Johnny 5 in it or webster or something.
so like anyway, L8r. -
with a vengeance.
-
He must be pushing 40 at least.
-
then there can possibly be a halfway decent Karate Kid 5, right?Right?!?!
-
Honestly - the song sucks compared to the video.
The tone of the song is gay. The singer sucks. The video really is pretty decent. Too bad they do not match in either quality or content. -
I'd have emailed you the link a few months back. It is a fun video though, the lead singer is a bit obnoxious though.
-
...but can't help but feel it could have been funnier. C'mon, you got the Cobra Kai back together, they should have gone on a middle life crisis rampage through the city or something.
-
I blogged about this 2 months ago!
http://www.tagworld.com/brian1970/PostDetail.aspx?id=6db6db07-29f7-4842-b32a-742f15a50fdb -
How could I have missed it when you blogged about it?
Oh, that's right. There are 40 billion blogs online, and I don't read them all obssessively hoping BrianTag will post a YouTube link.
Sheeeeeesh. Again, I'm so so very sorry I enjoyed this and thought it was funny enough to share as the weekend began. I'll go staple-gun my penis as penance. -
Not all of us spend their lives trawling the internet for this kind of stuff.
-
YYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
To counter all those smarmy douchebag bloggers, I ain't never seen this before, and loved the shit outta it. Thanks a bunch Mori. -
Heh...how do you insert "p" for the "b" in "Cobra"? Those two letters aren't even close to each other on the keyboard. Anyways, love this video. I don't suppose that's Elisabeth Shue near the end of the video? She was shown too fast, dammmit.
-
I hadn't seen this, as I keep my internet fanboying to pretty much this site only. Jesus Christ people it's not like he announced on high that Venom is the other bad guy in SPider-Man just now. Seeing as how this isn't news, just fanboy internet novelty, and isn't a phenomenon of any sort, I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations on bitching is like a year. Man Zabka still looks alright too. There is something slightly cruel about the fact that the guy who ruled the 80's as the quintessential white bread douchebag still has his looks 20 years down the line. The cast of Revenge of the Nerds must be furious.
-
Seriously though, great work Billy Zabka. And way to be months behind, AICN.
-
Zabka co-wrote and produced that Oscar-nominated short, he didn't direct it. You can call him 'Ocasr-nominated', but not 'Oscar-nominated director'. I wish he'd won. Also: yes, that's Chad McQueen. And Ralph Macchio is 45 years old.
-
Didn't know about it! Loved it! I just wish I could watch it in glorious QuickTime. That movie was great and it's awesome to see those guys together. But now I have that song going through my head over and over. "Sweep. . the leg. . .Johnny!. . .Sweep. . .the leg!"
-
"Leaving Las Vegas" or not, she ain't that far above Zabka and Macchio anymore. Oh, and if Macchio was, like, 30 when Karate Kid came out, he truly did make a pact with the devil to stay youthful. Ponce de Leon.

You twat

PLEASE ,LOOK UP.....BEHIND THE MUSIC:COMPLETE .IF IT WASN'T SO TRUE IT WOULD BE HYSTERICAL. I MIGHT BE LATE TO THE PARTY ON THIS BUT IT'S ABOUT THE WORST BAND EVER. THIS WAS FILMED IN THE LATE 90'S WAY BEFORE AMERICAN IDOL MADE IT COOL FOR PEOPLE WITH NO TALENT TO TRY AND SING.
-
I think both these guys live clean and take care of themselves. Zabka still got the moves. Macchio was great in the "confrontation" with Drama in Entourage. I didn't see if Pat Johnson reprised his role as the ref; he was also the trainer for the movie. In Blackbelt magazine, Pat wrote the only actor who had previous martial arts experience was Chad McQueen- his dad Steve learned from Pat, Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. Pat also commented that Ralph was not naturally athletic and couldn't do the spinning hook kick-which was supposed to be the original "if do right, no defense" kick, but replaced with goofy Crane kick. Zabka was a natural and got the moves down pat. Great video, good to see Martin Kove and Cobra Kai back together again- loved it when the guy screeched, "put 'em in a bodybag Johnny!"

AOL and MSN had links to this months ago...
-

-
Where the fuck as AICN been? delete this worthless "news" story.
-
his riveting performance as Greg Toland in Just One of The Guys. The way he kicked the shit out of all those annoying future Mori-Hating Bloggers was life changing.
-
Myspace! Or constantly waste their lives on YouTube. Some people (like me) haven't seen this yet, so go fuck some broken glass for gods sakes. Thanks for showing us "un-myspace-cultured" Hethens about this. Made my morning. Which is technically still night time. God I hate graveyard shift.
-
...you'll love this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YygyHCRrKhoIt's been around a while too, but it's catchy and has more genre references than you can count.
-
they should have had Macchio driving the old yellow car. He owns it, after all...
-
I'm guessing most of you have seen this already, but just in case, check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwY5o2fsG7Y
